What does 378389 block text "share diff was very close so we tested it, but it wasn't worthy" mean?

Isn't it perfectly clear whether block is valid or not?

Bitcoin mining hashes are a 256bit number. It's very expensive to try and use 256 bit numbers everywhere so we use 64 bit numbers in the very flexible double precision format. See how a number is not just a number by learning about the limitations of double precision here:

Learning Point --5Nd--

For this discussion, disregard the second negative spike.

My understanding WAS that if you achieve 5Nd and if I have all of your miners shut down for an hour, I would just have to hash at full capacity to make up that lost hashing hour to achieve a full 5Nd.  NOT TRUE.  This hour will decrease my reward until I achieve another full 5Nd period/cycle.

 The Workers-Shift Reward Performance seemingly demonstrates this: I was down for 1 hour and will have to go through the 5Nd period/cycle to get that decreased hashrate removed from my block payout. On the last bock my payout was less than usual.

Let me know if my THEORY is correct/incorrect.

Not true from my understanding. You simply lose 1 hours of shares, the spike is there because it is still part of one of the 5Nd, when we hit the next block you will notice that your 5Nd chart will change. I also think you will need to have an hours worth of increased hash rate (what ever you lost during that hour) to compensate for the lost hour until that drop in hash rate is no longer considered.

I'm sure Kano or someone else can explain this better than I have. Also my understanding of this might not be 100% (or at all) correct.

When are payments sent out?

The block 'Status' must first reach '+101 Confirms' on the Blocks page, and then is flagged as 'Matured', before the reward is distributed.
The block reward is sent out manually soon after that.

Yes, that is true. But that is the advantage of the 5Nd, your 1 hour downtime is a smaller percentage of 5Nd than it would be of 1Nd. So the decrease is not as bad as it would have been elsewhere.

 Try to understand what miners do is use machines to move coins in a block.

we get paid to move it safely .

so 11,000 coins  we get 25 coins to move it.(rounded the numbers)

you and I are like the drivers in the armored truck.  I have more time in on the job and get full percent of my machines.

Right now the time needed to get the full percent of your machines is about 55 hours.

So if you kept your machine on steady you are getting close to the 55 hours.
