Well everyone, it's been nice mining here, but I've had some hardware failures and the only chance for making any profit for me is a nice big jump in BTC exchange rate or to hit a block solo mining. I'm taking the latter. If I hit one, I might be back. Or maybe if I buy some new HW. Good luck y'all. Hope you don't miss my 2400 GH too much.

What hw you using to get your 2400gh? What's your power cost? Just curious.

Well I was using 2x SP20E (a little underclocked) hosted off-site at a cost of ~ $0.11/kWh. But one of the miners had a recent issue and now half the ASICs don't work (only 2 out of the 4 loops are functional). It was iffy whether I'd recoup hardware, hosting, and shipping costs but with a little help in the difficulty department (aka no return to exponential increases, maybe a few decreases) I calculated maybe 9-12 months more for ROI. Now with half a miner non-functional I don't like my chances.

Note that I was calculating ROI in BTC terms, not USD. A sharp increase in exchange rate will send me back here as well though...

After the last 5 or so block, I'm expecting a 200-300% block, but wishing for under 200%. Can't win all the time and can't sustain 150%+ luck.....

Pointed a tiny bit of hash here that runs on a computer that I don't have to pay electricity for, so a bit of free microearnings for me each block.  Even the dust adds up eventually...  Cool

Hmmmmm, just another monster block!?!
Heh it's still under 200% ... monster would be over 400% IMO Tongue

But even 400%+ is expected to happen almost once every 50 blocks.
300%+ is expected about once every 20 blocks.
200%+ is expected about once every 7 blocks.

A CDF table of single blocks (fraction of blocks expected to be lower than the given %)
Code:
 0.86466471676339  200.00%
 0.95021293163214  300.00%
 0.98168436111127  400.00%

 0.99966453737210  800.00%
 0.99987659019591  900.00%

... and remember those current statistics on the block page, for 50 blocks with 106.81% luck, and 100 blocks with 113.35% luck, include that 666.666% block Smiley

Fortunately we can calculate how often we can expect an Apocalypse ... "or worse" Smiley

0.99872735771441 666.666%

So very roughly about one in each 786 blocks.

1/(1-n)

Updated Table Smiley
Code:
 0.86466471676339  200.000%  1 in 7.4
 0.95021293163214  300.000%  1 in 20.1
 0.98168436111127  400.000%  1 in 54.6
 0.99326205300091  500.000%  1 in 148.4
 0.99752124782333  600.000%  1 in 403.4
 0.99872735771441  666.666%  1 in 785.8
 0.99908811803445  700.000%  1 in 1096.6
 0.99966453737210  800.000%  1 in 2981.0
 0.99987659019591  900.000%  1 in 8103.1

Ah well - those 2 new columns on the shift page are displaying wrong again.
I'll have to fix that tomorrow (it's midnight here now) so I blanked them out since they were displaying higher than they really were.
I'll put them back once I've fixed the code that generates them.

ShockedBLOCK!!! Grin

Yes indeed... Even with that long block, this has been a killer past week.
I may just be closing in on profitability, lol!

Good job guys!
