the 2 S5+ have been connected close to 6 days the sp yukon 25 minutes, Variance is a big part of, and always present in, bitcoin mining Well the best way to see what you are being rewarded over a short time frame is: Look at the cgminer API summary two numbers: E: "Elapsed" and D: "Difficulty Accepted" Paid GH/s = 2^32 * D / E Now in case you didn't want to do that ... Look at the Workers->Shifts page. That's how it calculates the "Avg Hs" which will be over the time frame given "Length" i.e. 2^32 * "Your Diff" / "Length" seconds For my 2 A6s and sjc's S3 I see over the last 4 completed shifts: 5pcu3 paru Dec-14 23:49:21 45m 47s 7.71THs 5pcoq origami Dec-14 23:02:38 46m 43s 7.03THs (pool restart) 5pcha nodoka Dec-14 22:54:42 7m 55s 7.30THs 5pcgb mutsumi Dec-14 22:15:04 39m 38s 7.61THs
About a 10% difference from min to max If you had failover during the pool restart you'd see that under "origami" since that was the shift that was created when ckpool restarted Even a shift will have variance since it's only ~40min or in one case above, ~8min Of course there's also the question of how much time your miners spent else where due to the failover or for any other reason. You'd have to look at your miner's stats to see that.

I will say, I do expect that everyone on the planet mining would have a backup to some other pool(s) Pools telling you to set all your backups to the same pool really have no idea what the point of having a backup is ... ... ... Of course I'll suggest solo.ckpool.org - but that of course is up to you

I setup other redundant kano.is sites if I have unlimited site slots, e.g. SPx series, but I have seen people's screenshots showing all of the same pool, or no backup listed at all. I have to think they change it after a while though. I am going to go eat some chicken. It's about time for a double pop I hope none of the newer people to KANO.IS are discouraged in the slightest. The one thing that has proven itself over and over is when you look at the all time luck. Or, if you choose, just look at the last 30 days of luck. I mine and don't count the time, I count the blocks and the coin in my wallet over a long period of time. Even a month is not a fantastic gauge in mining. As soon as you leave is when the blocks start popping. Everyone hasn't had enough chicken yet tonight. Pickup a bucket and watch them start dropping.
|
Transaction fees go to the pools and the pools decide to pay them to the miners. Anything else, including off-chain solutions are stealing and not the way Bitcoin was intended to function. Make the block size set by the pool. Pool = miners and they get the choice.

There'll be another ckpool restart. We've found a delay in the work processing that happens rarely, but could happen on a block change (which could be catastrophic if we got an orphan) We certainly don't want to ruin out ongoing excellent orphan record with an issue we know about. So another restart to deal with that issue in about 15 minutes (the sooner the better for this one) I'll post again here in 15min just before doing it.

Heh, the jump to 6PH was a failover from someone else Well on the subject I posted above ... There'll be another ckpool restart. The irony of the failover from someone else is that they were also doing a ckpool restart for the same updates first All you need to do is check the current git of ckpool to see what changes we're restarting for at any time.

That really does look great Prelude.
I am going for some Chicken Alfredo, with extra Chicken and Alfredo heh
More Chicken than pasta just to make sure the Kano.Is block gods are very pleased with all contributions tonight.
I may even add extra real butter. Man I love that taste in the sauce.
Although this is purely about my pool brethren and not my dinner when I am starving.
I had to go to a cheerleader meeting tonight. I am so mistreated hah

I have about 20TH into Kano pool. 4 x s7 and 1 x s5. While S7s are hashing well... I noticed that the s5 is hashing but doesn't report "Best Share" - its currently "0" I took out the s5 and pointed it to other pools and it show "Best Share" stats! In Kano worker page, the s5 is hashing and producing shares, but there is no "Best Share" readings on the Antminer page.
Is this normal?

Are you manually setting diff? If so, don't. The dodgy default driver from bitmain doesn't read share diff if you are mining at a power of 2 diff (eg 512, 1024 etc.). That's why kano's pool has a default non power of 2 diff of 1042.

It is a common misconception that you get paid less if you are not mining 24/7 with PPLNS. You still get your proportional payment as you deserve. If you are on a PPS pool with 4% fee you will get 96% of the reward you deserve for the number of hours you mine. If you are on this PPLNS pool with a 0.9% fee you will get 99.1% of the reward you deserve for the number of hours you mine - the difference is it will be "spread out" rather than a constant payment but overall you will earn more than on a PPS pool with a higher fee.
