I am new to bitcoin mining, just bought my first miner and plugged it in to this pool! Thanks for putting a forum out there for newbies like myself to learn!
1st lesson...patience. Welcome aboard and you are definitely in the right place. Read up and make sure you are aware of how this pool works. Many frustrations arise from not knowing what to expect. MINE ON!

Getting ready to start a dance party, I know we're due for a 100%+ block now so am not trying to push it, and push it real good but....
DANCE DANCE DANCE DANCE
MINE ON WITH KANO-SAN!
1 in 7.4.... gives a chance for everyone who just joined to ramp up to 5nD Fortunately we are never 'due' anything: we expect a block 100% from 'now' This is something that some people don't realise is pretty easy to explain also. We always expect an average, over long term, of 100% luck - (less orphans) So if current luck history is not what we expect, there's no such thing as 'correcting' the luck, it's simply that no matter what the luck is, over time the more expected 100% blocks you have, the closer back to 100% expected average you'll get. What actually happens is of course random, but what to expect is always: 100% from now, and 100% long term average. Even if it's a 100% block, we still have a ways to go. Patience is a virtue.

Shit...I just check the worker page and found that it offline... Then I check the shift graph, it show the worker offline since 16 Jan at around 11:00 UTC+8... But I am now working at office, can't access the miner, need to wait until tonight and see what happen... I am very worry... Check the iApp, the android App, or the monitoring web site listed in the first post. Thanks, just install the android app, should be very helpful. But I need to check the miner and fix it tonight. Hope it is just the network switch unplugged by my cat not the damage in the miner itself... I am planning to add 1 ~ 2 miner in the coming few months, the monitoring app will help a lot.

Power outage. Someone's fixing something without even announcing lol. Man, I was about to sleep but was checking CMC prices on my phone and then my phone's LTE kicked in and that's how I noticed. Boy, if I had slept, my miner would't start hashing when power comes back on and just blow and blow... It's currently -20c lol. Oh man... https://imgur.com/a/nEIRjYeah I know, I sleep during the day time here so I can keep up with you guys in your time zone It took about 30 minutes, how does it affect my reward if we find a block meanwhile? From what I understand, 30 minutes won't matter and I will be rewarded according to my shift graph right..?

Technical Question:
I have 1 54 chip S7 that has room for 9 chains. Will It work if I hook up 2 sets of 3 45 chip hashing boards to it?
Thank you!

I would love to come back, but the biggest advantage of Slush pool is that I get an E-Mail as soon as one miner goes below a certain hashrate. @ Kano You don't happen to have that feature planned for the future, do you? I know a phone app exists that checks the total hashrate. But the variance of the hashrate gets higher the more miners you have, so you can't recognize a dead miner right away.

There's an app. Apparently I just found out about it today, and it worked pretty well when my power went out. Check the first post

With slushpool the moment a miner goes offline you're pretty much screwed anyway - scoring goes to 0 within the hour. Good thing about 5Nd - your shares are still being rewarded even if your miner goes offline. Tonnes of apps available, personally I use Awesome Miner to send me email notifications. 1% of the rewards you've been giving up to Slushpool would more than pay for Awesome Miner, btw.

I agree on that, but I'd still have to have an extra pc with awesome miner running 24/7. That's why I'd prefer to get the mail directly from the pool.

Thanks Nazzer. Just to clarify - minergain is a free work of love for the crypto community that still has a ways to go. I have the code to monitor workers for a few pools (slush and kano primarily) but have not put the email / text alert for workers going down, but I can add that next week (I 'play' with this on Mondays and Tuesdays). I finally got rewards with converted dollars at the time of the block working this week for anyone interested.
