That moment when your entire neighborhood loses power and you immediately think your miners are to blame. Either way the worst news is the zero shifts being recorded as I wait for the power company to figure it out. Let's all take a moment and pray for the bigolin house to have power restored quickly, and this block to crack even quicker!

I can fully relate. Never good to have idle miners!

When things like this happen to me, I'm thankful that this pool has 5Nd.  I normally can't even tell that I had an outage on the next payout because of it. Cheesy

As a new miner, my gripes are many; take it as constructive criticism.

There are a lot of repeated questions on here that could be easily addressed by an updated more concise website.

There is no way to know exactly where your ramp is, and with a ramp up taking over a full difficulty adj period, that is a lot of time to wait, coming from someone who already waited 2 plus months for their miner to arrive.

The website sucks: Compare it to slush, because yes that is the biggest competitor. Their interface is gorgeous. Lots of information, lots to see. All relevant stuff is addressed and laid out.

The app sucks: Again compared to slush, its ridiculous.

Spend the time and money to update the site. Make it more user friendly.(read newcomer) I'm slowly getting the hang of things, but I have to say none of the questions I've needed addressed would have happened at slush. Theres really no reason for the website and app to suck so hard in what is more or less the top of the computing world.
It's ok, bud. You may be happier at slush, but you'll make more here. Are your feelings and impressions of GUI's more important than your wallet balance?

edit: wanted to add that the website has all the information you need. 'sall good, homey.
This isn't exactly how you win new people over, homey.

The website looking like a middle school science fair project with an app to match IS a legitimate issue. Someone suggesting that making it more usable than the current pile of dogshit would cost over 100k? or take time; implying that over three years isn't enough? Come on, lets be realists.

ROI is why I chose this pool, and adding a bit more horsepower to the pool would help lower the awesome variance.
Ok. This happens every time luck turns bad for a bit. We all start jumping on each other like a pack of hungry wolves.

Par Avion has valid points. And being hostile to each other solves nothing. We need to look at how to bring in these new miners. If it takes change the look and feel of the site, then we should at least discuss it. Look at what is successful, figure out why, and try to improve on that.

We should be the biggest pool out there. Why aren't we? That's what we need to solve, not attacking people who try to bring an idea to the table.

I've been mining here for the last 2 years and I have no plans to leave, but we have to figure out a way to attract more miners.

I am sure we have enough talented people within this pool that could volunteer to give the website a tune up and develop a marketing effort if Kano is interested. We could put together several mockups and let the Miners have a vote to determine the winners! Smiley

What say you Sir Kano? Are you willing to let a few of us give it a try?

Mine on!!

While it is nice to have a larger pool to lower variance, a larger pool also means a smaller percentage for a given hash rate. I would prefer to mine in a pool that is smaller and get a bigger piece of the pie. That's why I'm here. Mining is all numbers, it is hard to keep emotion out of it but in the end the numbers will tell the story. Sometimes it take a bit longer than others.
I'm with you. We have made much more money over the last 3 months than when the pool was 100ph and we were getting more blocks. I don't mind waiting around for blocks.

The kano.is site looks and functions fine for me. Tell drudge he needs a flashy gui , doesn't stop anyone from going to his site. he's laughing all the way to the bank. It's fast and it works (033,509,698 PAST 24 HOURS).

The bigolin house liveth. We currently have power for the moment and I found that there were over 16k outages in our area, so apparently something much larger than 4 s9's was at fault. Thank goodness!

KanoPool is not for the weak of heart or weak knee'd. It is for intelligent people who understand the game. Kano Pool is for those who like to make money at Bitcoin Mining and have a firm grasp of math. If you can't handle not getting a payout every day, which equates to just a few bucks, then I understand why you left the pool. BUT if you understand statisitics, probabilities and like big fat delicious payouts when they come then.............. MINE ON WITH KANO-SAN!! The best Bitcoin Mining Pool on Earth. As for me, my miners continue on. NO FEAR HERE!!! Come On Block!!!

If any complainer cares...

I did a comparison with someone I know that had 12 S9's on Nicehash at the same time I had 5 on Kano from Dec 27 until Jan 28.

My total pay was a very small marginally higher than what his was, when worked out to each 13.5 TH S9.

The difference was I had 1 S9 already ramped up, and the other 4 started the ramp up from Dec 27.  I am too lazy to work out how much that would be IF they were all ramped up for that period. But I do know that it is more than nice has.  I actually do recall a post I made with the payout when worked out as if they were fully ramped up.

At the end of the day, yes, it is complicated to understand the 5nd ramp up and how it affects the earning initially.  I had that same thoughts when I came over since good ol nice hash got hacked.

I am glad I did, the payouts are better, and the total payout is better. I have proven this time and time again.

Unfortunately, I am sorry guys, I have to take a bigger piece of the pie.. I just added my two S9's that I traded for 1 Antminer A3 ( YES A STEAL OF A DEAL! )  So I have 7 now, and just under 100 TH/s

When all else fails, just spread out those 4 blocks in 2 days to average it out over the last week.  I hate the 200 % blocks too, but these just have an extra armor coating and need more attention! :-P

You can actually estimate how far you are.

The 'ramp' is of course 5Nd which is 500% diff.

If you find the nearest block after you started, then add up the % for all blocks after that block, then add the % total we are now (~248%) if that adds up to over 500% then you're done.
You also will have some % before that block was found so you can estimate that also.

So to give an example assuming someone started 14-Jan 6:00 UTC

The first block found after that time was 504174 at 2018‑01‑14 10:22:29
After that block there's been 2 blocks 46.284% and 202.868% = 249.152%
The current block is another ~248% so 249% + 248% = 497%

504174 was found 4hrs 22min 29sec (15749sec) after 6:00 UTC and was 9.007% and a total of 8hrs 31min 10sec (30670sec)
So mining was approximately 15749/30670 of that 9.007% or 0.513 x 9.007% = another 4.625%

So 497% + 4.6% is of course more than 500% so the 5Nd 'ramp' would be 'just' passed if you started mining at 14-Jan 6:00 UTC and had a consistent hash rate with no outages since then (ignoring the 5-10min pool outage since that was everyone)
