SECURITY UPDATE:

I am happy to announce that I have purchased and installed an SSL certificate with full sha256 encryption from TrustWave SSL,  so all your activities on my site including financial transactions are completely safe and encrypted and as a matter of fact you are now forced to use https instead of http for everything.

I hope this addresses everyone's security concerns that they had in the past. Which by the way I thank you for bringing to my attention. With this new level of security there will be no need to bring back google checkout and I will stick to my new credit card processor Stripe.com, whom is very well respected and trusted in the payment processing industry.

For More information on stripe.com;s security please visit : https://stripe.com/help/security

For More information on TrustWave SSL , the company that provides my SSL security please visit: https://ssl.trustwave.com/#
Thanks for handling this in a very professional way. This is the way to build customer trust (at least mine).

P2pool tuning guide
Trade BTC for €/$ at bitcoin.de (referral), it's cheaper and faster (acts as escrow and lets the buyers do bank transfers).

Is there a pre-order list (thread) so that people can get an idea of where they would be in the queue something like what is being done with BFL units?

no no ASICS arent shipping until November/December we are currently shipping FPGA Based units

Tom, Would you consider a lay-away plan for the november/december ASICs? Some sort of minimum deposit with the balance due on november 1st and the ability to make payments in the interim? Fairness would dictate a %loss of deposit if the buyer didn't follow through.

I realize this ads load to your accounting staff. But it would help smaller miners get in line for the product now instead of hoping they are available when they can save up the cash.

Start one.  The BFL trackers weren't ever sanctioned lists.  Someone just started keeping track and the list kept growing.

it is from multiple chips, exact details of the exact target ASIC technology and the amount of chips on the bASIC unit will be public in the next couple of days

You said you don't know what the power draw will be? By "more efficient" than a MMQ, is that total power, or MHs/W? If the latter, this could use > 1.2KW and still me considered "more efficient".

this will be public info in a few days

is there any update on this? Really curious about the power consumption, even if its the prototype. If you could just tell if its around those 1,2kW or like 200watt, that would pretty much help everyone deciding to preorder or not.
I will preorder today, no matter what the specs are, but i would even preorder two of them if i knew whats coming towards me. I guess this applies to most of us.
Please, any news? Smiley

MMQ info... I just compiled the latest version of BFGMiner and installed it on a raspberry pi, here are my results, copied from another thread just FYI.

After 10 hours this is what Im getting...

1 ModMiner Quad with the lastest firmware (as of this post)
1 Raspberry Pi running Wheezy
BFGMiner 2.7.5 compiled by me (who knows if i did it right)

5s:835 avg:761 u:741 A:6359 R:5 HW:5 E:29% U:10.4/m
Temps look good at 38/38/40/36

Speed is about the same as with running BFGM 2.7.5 in windows7. Im pretty sure my efficiency wasnt this low on win7, not sure what the issue is there...

Well ... I guess if I had one of them I'd be able to get it working well ...
... anyone got a spare MMQ they wanna give away? ...
... and no I'm not asking Tom - I mean: if anyone using them has a spare and wants someone to update the cgminer support ... like my great performing cgminer Icarus code Smiley

Yeah, I think you just scared anyone away considering how much cgminer's Icarus support sucks since you forked it... Of course, the BFGMiner modminer driver updates (as well as the rest of BFGMiner for that matter) are all right there for merging if cgminer really cared about quality.

Damn, I just typed up a long response and it didnt post...

Basically Im not pointing out faults in that post, just stating my experience with it on the RPi vs windows. Didnt mean to piss in anyones Cheerios.

Well in my case I was just suggesting I could look at it ... if I had an MMQ Smiley

Cablepair let this little gem slip the other day:

However a portion of this quote is a lie and it is wrong of you to do this as I never spread mis-information about BFL in my thread.

"and consuming an enormous amount of power in the process?"

You have absolutely NO CLUE the energy efficiency of my bASIC mining device (it is extremely efficient, and uses less electricity than the ModMiner Quad) and I have serious doubts that you even know the exact energy efficiency of your own device(s)

Furthermore the bASIC mining unit offers a minimum (un-optimized) 27Gh/s of Bitcoin mining speed which will very likely increase substantially with proper firmware and software integration once I get these units into the very capable hands of the Bitcoin communities best and brightest developers.

Oh, that sounds nice. Honestly, too good to be true. Less than a MMQuad (which runs around 80watt 40watt, isnt it?) would be insane. I mean its close to no power consumption at all (compared to its output of 27gh/s).

Maybe cablepair could tell us if this is meant as i interpreted it. If so, im glad to order two more Smiley

MMQ uses ~40W.

The Raspberry Pi USB chipset (Broadcomm I believe?) is buggered... and your ethernet runs through the USB chipset, so anything USB related and ethernet related suffer mightily on the Raspberry Pi until it's fixed.  Lots of speculation it's hardware related and probably not fixable in software, but I haven't keep up to date on it since discovering the problems and abandoning the current Raspberry Pi generation as viable.

If you're searching these lines for a point, you've probably missed it.  There was never anything there in the first place.

Could you please provide a link to this information?  I've been planning on using a Raspberry Pi to front-end my BFL hardware when it arrives.  If the above does not get resolved, I will need to find an alternative.

Is a netbook capable while using ethernet? I think those use like 40W or less.

While I do not own an MMQ, I somehow doubt the power source is linked to the computer you are using to control the mining operations. My guess is both MMQ and the bASIC will have their own independent power supplies.

Any netbook or laptop should be fine. Some of then use 20W or lower.
