The news of the unique spectacle of the gold unicorn proudly ambling besides Quaid towards the town center had spread like wildfire. Many had hurried to catch a glimpse of the unforgettable sight, lest they never could again within their lifetime. Indeed, so few of those magnificent animals exist that their owners tend to keep them well away from the hubbub of the city, in large country estates.

Almost as fast as the news, gossip started too. How could a man of so little means be the owner of a gold unicorn ? There were almost as many theories are people discussing it, and those who claimed to be in the know usually floundered quickly when pressed for further details and flaws in their explanations.

Soon enough, one theory seemed to persist. An aged man, a previous soldier, pointed to the elaborate riding gear worn by the unicorn. The foreign style was one associated with the Saracens, and not one often seen in Crypto Kingdom. One man was known to have escaped a Saracen military camp long ago on a stolen horse, he said, and this man was none other than the Duke of New Liberty. As eyes pored over the gear from a respectful distance, it soon became clear that this was indeed a most ancient elaborate item, unique in these parts.

When word came back from the House of the duke, it became clear that during the cataclysm, Quaid found the frightened horse in the countryside, away from the town. He calmed him, and brought him to his farm. As the presence of the human seemed to soothe the animal, Quaid examined the riding gear that it was wearing. Not being an expert on such items, he still correctly thought it of Saracen origin, and attributed it to one of the occasional raiding bands that reached far up north.

Quaid took good care of the horse, and brought the gear to town some time later, where he got confirmation of its Saracen martial origin. Back at his farm, Quand placed the gear in a chest and cared for the horse for 18 years, watching it gradually gain in stature and majesty, until he became what few horses can.

After the shock of realizing that that frightened horse had come from the duke's estate 18 years ago, Quaid took the unicorn's bridle and was about to make his way towards the duke's abode, when the messenger, delivering Joseph of New Liberty's message, declared that the horse was but a typical horse at the time, and Quaid's care was what had allowed it to flourish and develop. The Duke waived any right to the animal, leaving it in Quaid's possession.

Humbled by the duke's benevolence, and yet torn by the need to care for his own health, Quaid took the Saracen riding gear from the unicorn's back and instructed the messenger to hand the duke this memento of his daring escape so many years ago.

It is Quaid's wish, and no doubt the duke's as well, that the buyer of the unicorn take good care of such a noble animal.

With much recognition to the esteemed duke, the auction is resumed, and the end is pushed to wednesday, 21 GMT.

Health Challenge Guide (Beginner)

This guide is for Health Challenge Beginners, it explains what a health challenge is, how it works, and gives some useful tips. If you are new to the game and the health challenge, it is good to start here. This is a very short introduction of the basics.
To get more in depth information to help you with your health challenge, read the Advanced Health Challenge guide (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=819073.msg13255477#msg13255477).
Both guides will be accessible in the CK-wiki ingame.

What is the Health Challenge

Your character's lifespan is measured by its health. Most characters start in excellent or good health, but over time old age, sickness and poor nutrition will start to take its toll. The best way to prolong your character's lifespan is by completing the health challenge.
Every week (which is 1 year of game-time) you can consume 200 items of food, 200 items of drinks and 200 items of wisdom substances. Consuming these items will lessen the burden of health issues on your character.
Completing the health challenge is very useful: your character can live longer, achieve higher levels, get player salary, and many other benefits. In contrast, if you leave your character unattended it will get sicker and sicker, and after a while die, never reaching its full potential.

How to tackle the Health Challenge
- Login to Crypto Kingdom Ultima and go to Agora Marketplace, on top of the list you can see the things you need for your health challenge. The key menus are: Food, Small Drinks, Wine, and Wisdom substances.
- Click on to any food or drink, and under the description you can find a command box. In order to find out your current health condition, type the command: “health” to the command line.
- The result will be something like this: “You may still eat 200 units, drink 200 units and use 200 units of wisdom this year. Your remaining health challenge is Severe. Your overall health is Good.”
- To complete the health challenge you need to obtain and consume food, drink and wisdom items. The staples are: MEAT, VEG, BEER, MEAD and CAN, as they are cheap and plentiful.
- In order to obtain these key items, run a command in format of 'buy item_id quantity price' - for example “buy veg 100 2000” buys 100 vegetables for the price of 2000 per each.
- Once you have bought your needed items, it is time to consume them. You can do this by the command: “consume item_id quantity”, for example “consume veg 100”.
- The result will be something like this: “The eating/drinking felt Effective. I feel the remaining health challenge to be Significant. I could still eat 100, drink 200 and use 200 units of wisdom this year”. Notice this time you also obtain information on how much the consumed food/drink/wisdom helped you in your challenge (here: “Effective”).

Useful tips
Staple food and drinks are good for your character in large quantities, but the maximum consume limit is 200 items from each three categories: food, drink and wisdom.
So if your consumption limit is almost used and you still have health challenge left, it is good to try some of the higher quality products on the market if you can afford them: WINEs, FOIE or the different spirits.
These can help your character to achieve better at the health challenge, but are also more expensive therefore they are usually consumed in moderation.

Some basic ideas of what to consume and how much:

Commoner character, level 1-9:

Stone Sales in the New Boroughs - 6 & 9



After significant investment in stone mining in the new boroughs, the fruits of our labor have finally paid off. There is now available stone to purchase in boroughs 6 and 9.  These are new boroughs that will no doubt have a lot of building in the near future. For the first 2 million stone purchased in each of these boroughs, the price will be below market at 145 instead of 150.  

If you are a builder or a soon-to-be builder, now is the time to lock in your supply of stone so that you can build the next generation of buildings in CK!  Why would you want to build? Well, each building can provide yearly rental income (cold hard cash). You can also designate them to provide CUL (culture) or SCI (sci) instead. This gives you the ability to invest in new technologies and even things like shares in a corp (such as S-B22).

important gamemaster update
Evaluation of Public Health

We have now had 3 health challenges and the 4th is underway.

First - there are sad news: the following characters have died:

The Royal House sends a great thank you to all the supporters of Crypto Kingdom, and a big hug to the relatives.

Upon death, 2 mil are collected by the Town for funeral expenses. The player can still log into the estate to manage its affairs until the "sweep deadline" which is 17. January 2016. At that time, unclaimed accounts will be swept by the Town and used for marketing. Estate characters (those of dead people) can be played as if they were corporations and are subject to same rules. For those willing to continue play, below we give information how to start new characters, to whom the assets of the previous ones can be transferred.

The state of health of other characters who have grossly neglected their health challenges (presumed due to ignorance) is restored to an approximate state assuming health had been tended as it should. Also the costs have been collected.

ADD: Due to reasons of semi-automated script, It was not possible to take individual circumstances into account but roughly. The health value and its cost are final, but if you are in a difficulty, many rich characters can help you out.

Town will now activate itself to notify and educate all characters about how to maintain their health. The very/most/ancient characters are a great asset to the game (and their owners) going forward, and we hope as many as possible can be saved. While death is presumed to be an eventuality for all, the example of many active characters proves that aging can be halted by nimble playing of health challenge, and it is not even that expensive!

If your character "m" account (money) is negative after these forced withdrawals, you have this week to remedy the situation by depositing (ask for deposit details from HH The Duke of Ramsey / BCT:saddambitcoin), or selling your assets. The Bailiff will start next week and she will liquidate your property perhaps not in the same order as you would have liked. Withdrawals are enabled against sufficient proof that you are the account owner. BCT accounts are regarded as sufficient proof until 17. January 2016, after which only activated CK accounts count.

Action in the food and wine markets

Many wines of the early 1600s have reached their peak and are now declining in taste and health effects as well. When a wine declines to 8/20 or less in taste, it is in danger of being removed from consumables and becomes a "collectible" (useless) item instead.

Much money was collected from the 40 characters who claimed their account but did not do health challenge in 1615-1617. A part of this is now sent to Resta pool (in gamemaster command) with the intention to delayed-buy the products that failed to be consumed. This will give a perfect opportunity for large wineholders to unload their excess stock, especially as hopefully all those characters will now be buying their own, and hungryMob also has 750 mil/year to buy MEAT, FOIE, BEER, wines, spirits and wisdom.

ADD: W1616 is in conversion and it is possible to consume it right away. The import tax (10,000 m/btl) will be collected only when the conversion period ends, so the wine consumed during the period (until end of year) is tax-free.

Statistics about current health kingdom-wide

Excellent: 18
Good: 18
Decent: 31
Weak: 32
Ailing: 6

Each health bracket is 2000 HP. If a character is in "weak" health to begin with, and takes his healthChallenge to "moderate" every year, it will take him anything between 7-35 years to die. Untreated health challenges, on the other hand, kill the character rather quickly, which is an intended feature to get rid of (bot)farmed characters.

Health Challenge Advanced

If you don´t yet know what a Health Challenge is, or how it works, please read the Beginner’s Health Challenge guide (link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=819073.msg13252968#msg13252968). When you are familiar with the basics, we move on to Health Challenge Advanced. (thank you Syksy, HM, and Noms for your help in completing this)

This guide goes more in depth into Health Challenge: explaining the health challenge scales, how to get the various health bonuses, how to budget for health challenge, how to tackle the challenge cost effectively and how to determine which items are most useful to your health.

The Health Challenge Scales:

Character Health
The character health range is Excellent-->Good-->Decent-->Weak-->Ailing-->Dead. Most characters start to play in “excellent” or “good” health.  Taking care of the health challenge will slow down the health decline significantly. Once a character is ailing it is close to death, and it is a good time to take care of appointing a successor for it.

Health Challenge
The health challenge range is Brutal-->Severe-->Significant-->Moderate-->Insignificant-->None. This signifies the hit your health will take that week. Most challenges start at either “Brutal” or “Severe”, but careful consuming of the right items can reduce your health hit to “moderate”, "insignificant" or even sometimes "none".

Effectiveness of food and drinks

The result from the consume of food, drink and wisdom items range from Powerful-->Wonderful-->Effective-->Satisfying-->Useful. This signifies the usefulness of the consumed item for your current health challenge. The quantity will also play a role here, for example consuming 10 VEG might only have a ‘useful’ effect, yet consuming 100 VEG can be ‘effective’ instead.

Health Challenge Bonuses

First consume / Variety bonus

During each health challenge, the first time you consume any item for your challenge, you get a health bonus. This variety bonus can be very useful in maximizing the effectiveness of the consume.

Frequency bonus
There is a daily frequency bonus for consuming items, therefore it is useful to eat and drink on different days during the week to get the maximum bonus for frequency. This can save you some money on your challenge.
But if you are rather short of time, you can do all the consuming on one go. The bonus is not so significant that not receiving it would set you back on your challenge.

Particularly effective foods, drinks or wisdom
During some health challenges a certain food, drink or wisdom can be more useful for your health than it regularly is. The game master often leaves hidden clues that may direct players towards the correct direction in search of these items.

An example is the story-driven “yellow fever”, that swept over CK in 1616. Yellow fever was traditionally treated by drinking gintonic, and it was concordantly discovered by the players that the item GIN was particularly effective that year for the health challenge.

Active players can usually spot particularly effective items during their health challenge, and are eager to post their observations on the forum thread or the IRC channel. It is therefore advisable to stay active on these channels to find out the latest info on the health challenge.

Budgeting the health challenge

It is easy to get overexcited about the Health Challenge and blow your budget on luxury goods that are not necessary. Make a budget for your health challenge and stick to it. First find out how much your character´s annual income is, then decide how much of it you are willing to use for the health. Some challenges are easier than others, but there will always be hard ones as well. It is good to have some back up for when a difficult challenge hits.

Commoners can complete the health challenge on a budget ranging from 1-5mil /week, and Nobles for about 10-15mil /week.
If health is your priority and money is not a concern, it is possible to complete the health challenge perfectly, so that no hit to health is taken, but this will usually require a larger budget.

Useful tips
Start by consuming cheap staple foods such as MEAT, VEG, BEER and MEAD, they are the basics of any diet. But don´t blow your quota and save some room for more expensive and more effective products that can be necessary.

Cost effective tackling of a challenge means that by the time you have finished, you have achieved your health goal by consuming all or most of the available quota. If you have quota left after your challenge is already completed, it means you were consuming too many high end products.

It is not intended to always play the challenge until "none" of it is left, while the option is always open for those who have a limitless budget. However more cost effective is to sometimes leave a challenge "insignificant" taking only a tiny health hit, or "moderate" if the challenge was a difficult one.

After you have done your first few health challenges you will get an overall feeling which foods and drinks work better than others, and how much are needed in quantity. Usually the higher the price, the better it is for your health. Regardless it is not always necessary to buy the most expensive things to tackle your challenge: sometimes higher price just means you are buying a luxury product, and while it is likely good for your health, it is useful to consider the benefit vs cost.

It is finally possible to create Works of Art (ART-xx items). Rules are as follows:
- K7 = 100*IC, K8 = 200*IC, K9 = 500*IC, K10 = 1000*IC (you basically decide how magnificent the piece is)
- Default year is 1618 but backdating is possible. Backdating may go to earliest 1600, and costs 3% per year compounded (base_ic_cost*1.03^(current_year-item_year). If you are seeking to create an early-1600 ART item, it makes sense to do it asap since 3% per week is an excellent return on investment and it will just get more and more expensive in the future. Items dated 1599 and earlier are Ancient and new ones may never be created.

Town Presents His Majesty the King with ART


Town has commissioned the production of an artistic masterpiece retrospectively in celebration for His Majesty's 250th birthday as per a personal request by the Mayor with help from Town Art Director Lord Syksy.
By consuming 531 IC and 10xTS161, Town produced a level 9 painting from year 1616 with intra-woven 120 CKS.

The painting has been given to the King so he may display it where he would like!

Some mirrors have already been revealed, and the throneroom is brightly lit with a multitude of sunrays projecting glorious light from the exquisite mirrors. The King's decorated clothing is seen reflecting parts of the light rays, and some of the lesser nobles are covering their eyes due to the sudden illumination of the throneroom. The King has raised his hand as a benevolent gesture of appreciation for the valuable gift. Into the very canvas of the painting are woven silver threads (with help and expertise from the North Face Tailors who have been working the Silver into garments over the years, producing an intriguingly glimmering surface that reflects sunlight bit like the Venetian mirrors portraited in the painting itself. My remark was never really answered: despite succeeding with putting all health challenges to date to "None", my overall health went from "Good" to "Decent". If it was a bug it would be nice to have it revert. If it was not a bug, would be nice to get confirmation that it was not a bug and get some light on this specifically?
It's tough to budgetize on assumption that we can and did nullify a challenge, and then taking a hit anyway...

Monero's privacy and therefore fungibility are MUCH stronger than Bitcoin's. 
This makes Monero a better candidate to deserve the term "digital cash".

You seem to have missed the year 1617 totally, which did all the damage mentioned. There is no record of consuming anything that year. If you are sure you did consume, there could of course have been a fleeting bug that nobody else noticed. I think you could have managed to put in to zero in about 20 million, which I can also take in exchange for giving the health back. (This kind of situation was normally covered in the script mentioned above, but slipped my notice since the other years were ->None.)

It looks like there was a lot of COMSUME commands on sunday, and I reckon this was a late attempt at the health challenge before it ends, which was done just too late, after it ended. The previous health challenge had ended on a monday. Is this something that could be automated, so there is a steady end date so people know when they have to be finished ?
