It is with sincere gratitude for the many blessings that have been greeted upon me by His Majesty The King, that I reaffirm my desire to continue giving my Wisdom, Honor and Service to the benefit of the Kingdom.

May you rest in peace and never need to do the health challenge again! The King pays the funeral expenses of 2 mil on behalf of the commoners. The estates of the nobles will need to arrange their own.

The claimed character account functions for 30 realdays after death, for the purposes of giving the assets to the heirs or liquidating them. If there are any assets remaining after 30 days, the account will be swept and assets inherited by the Town for the purposes of marketing of the game. Unclaimed character accounts will be swept in 2016-1-17 regardless of whether the character has died or not. Town will decide what to do with the living characters in this case.

Last time the deaths were evaluated, almost 50 characters had not done their health challenges at all, which prompted a reset of health and deduction of the approximate cost from the account. This time, only 16 characters were in such condition. Next time, there are no such characters as this is the final time that anyone may escape death solely by ignoring the health challenge.

As the winter sun dawns over the Kingdom in 1621, the winds blow the Rossiyan cold from the east. We should not be troubled, though. The Health Challenge is (on average) no more difficult than usual, but we know that Vodka (items: VOH and VOD) enjoys elevated effectiveness to combat it.

How to compose your (Full) Title

It seems that this matter needs to be revisited often since it is not that common for any of us to need to do this in the outside world

1. Title can be made up of anything that describes the person, and is not restricted to the things below.

2. Title might include:

- Address honorific ("HE" or similar)
- Main attributes ("TMA" = The Most Ancient, "The Blessed" etc)

3. There is no single authoritative Title for a person. Good style dictates that the Title of high people is longer than that of low people, while omitting things that the lower people would include. The use of "etc" (up to 3 possible), indicates that the title is shortened while remaining Title (Shortname and Full name do not change, do not have etc's, and are typically unique - for instance "HM The King" is a Full name for the said person, and anything else is therefore his Title.)

5. Sir/Dame is a proper address for all nobility except Jungherrn. "Lord" is historically used by Barons to differentiate them from Knights. Barons have no county to identify with. Landed Earls typically revert back to Sir or use the county name. Normally only Marquess is high enough to be called definitively The Marquess of X (omitting Christian name). Especially Viscount is not a "The" title, since it is not a level. Baronet only if it coincides with level. It is considered classy to revert back to Christian name in very high levels eg. "HRH Archduke Zechariah, The Prince Royal" who used to be called "The Marquess of Tavastia".

The Army has been the apple of King's eye since forever. The earliest troops were commissioned in 1446 as the Royal Palace was completed. The organisation of the Royal CryptoArmy happened in 1466, which is the official anniversary. In the ancient times, 27 Battle Aquilas were acquired that possess great powers, especially when Most Ancient.

According to King's own estimation, the troops in direct Royal command have historically accounted for 40-50% of the battle value of the whole Kingdom. While it is possible that others recruit a large number of untrained PTE and LT, it will take a long time before they match the professional and functionally organized Companies of the King, trained for decades or centuries, with untold millions expended to the upkeep during the time.

The Royal troops listed, are a little understaffed in LT and PTE (since only a limited number come to the market). The full strength is expected in 2-3 years.

If anyone is in need of quick and definite pacification in his County, the RRF and some of the Training Companies are available for hire.

Promotions in the Royal CryptoArmy

When this year has passed and the initial NPC allocations to the Counties have been completed, it is the time to promote the PC officers in the Army.

Promotion year will be 1622, and the promotion qualifications are as follows:

1. Usually, the Commander of NPC forces is 1 rank higher than the highest subordinate. Therefore the first 5 of the list can be held by PC and the last 5 by NPC. Promote accordingly.

2. Exceptions to the above. GEN may only be held by the Supreme Commander (King). Therefore, even if you possess a COL, you will only be promoted COL yourself. Eg. if your current rank is CAPT, you will be promoted as follows. Before the arrow is the highest held NPC, after the arrow your new rank:

highest held (none) -> no promotion (stay CAPT)
highest held LT -> no promotion (stay CAPT, since that is 1 higher than LT)
highest held CAPT -> promotion to MAJ (1 higher than CAPT)
highest held MAJ -> promotion to LTC (1 higher than MAJ)

Admins can promote when the year has ended without further questions. When the promotion round is over, it is over.

Before that (1625), we would like all the Titles to be in order, furnished by the characters themselves in the MyCharacter /EDIT mode. We use both carrot and stick to achieve the objective:

Everyone who composes his Title will be given more: DOM, CLXII, W1600M and other most precious drinks. In addition, he will be privileged when more levels, fiefs, titles, knighthoods, honors, medals and badges are given. He may be given more Baronetcies once the initial sale is over. He will also join His Majesty's glory in the 225th Jubilee celebrations. And the perks are better the faster you do it!

Every noble who does not compose his Title in due time, will not be given more: He will be banned from promotions if the previous ones are not accounted for by his own hand in his Title. No one without a current title will inherit fiefs. (For Peerages of Crypto Kingdom, see googleDB/Peerages). Also he will not be invited to the 225th Jubilee. (Commoners in L1-L5 are exempt from the Title requirements and "Master" is enough for L6.)

After pacing back and forth in circles thinking of a proper title, I have now composed the following preliminary title for myself (I decided to choose Lord over Sir, as I find it rather neat to differentiate myself from the other Earls who so far have utilized Sir):

The main aim of the caravan is to safely arrive at the destination, avoid possible hostile confrontations, to secure the County of Petrichor under the rule of Lord Syksy once at the destination, and to establish proper infrastructure there.


With a grieving heart, Lord Syksy is preparing to depart for the county of Petrichor. This heavy-heartedness is due to the fact that his pregnant wife Ester and daughter Eleanor will stay behind in Barons' Row at 1-NE, at the safety of Lord Syksy's home, while the fatherhead of the family will lead the expedition. During his absence, Lord Syksy's elderly father has promised to take care of his businesses and holdings at CryptoTown, who himself is a retired visionary businessman. His grief is lessened by the fact that his ever-faithful and caring sister, Sini Syyskuu [char doesn't exist, title unavailable] has promised to accompany his older brother in his journey, and to help with practical matters once at Petrichor. While not an experienced combatant, Sini Syyskuu is exceptionally adept at organizing practical matters and commanding troops despite little battle experience. This is due to her systematic nature and the fact that she has spent a lot of her life studying ancients texts of art of war, organizational hierarchy, leadership and law.

TA Sir Mooo, the Blessed Earl of Stonehaven, Councillor, AOK-K, Learned Naturalist, MG-4, TB, KFB was standing at the edge of town, looking at the horizon. Hills and moors traced a lazy line between green earth and cloudy sky. Over there, the County of Stonehaven lied. A land of opportunities, though not one without its difficulties.

The Earl's hand rested on the hilt of his newly imported colichemarde, a new breakthrough in dress sword forging from the continent. The fine blade had a widened forte, an innovation allowing both superior handling by keeping the center of mass close to the wielder's hand, and greatly improved parrying ability, especially against the heavier swords. While the Earl was in excellent physical health, he relied more on agility and precision than strength, and had spent the last few months training his swordsmanship, getting used to this new blade's balance and weight.

The Earl's small military detachment was now hired, and had started training already, while the administrative staff had begun the task of inventory and preparation for the move to Stonehaven. Supplies had to be gathered, and a convoy assembled. The main tasks would lie ahead, once arrived in Stonehaven.

Company Battle Value

Background

Army can be used to Fight enemies (never happened), Fight barbarians (never happened and we don't have many anymore), Quell peasant uprisings (expected to happen), Prevent peasant uprisings, Ensure collection of taxes (important), Fight civil wars (hopefully not), and aid in Quests (coming).

Battle Value (BV) is mainly needed when the push comes to shove. In peacetime tasks, the weak units are somewhat stronger than just the BV would tell due to their larger manpower.

In the event of battle, due to coordination difficulties, only 1 company may fight against 1 company at a time. Having more troops in vicinity is important in the case of defeat, because they can then assault the victors. The outcome of an individual encounter is heavily dependent on BV, with even small differences becoming important.

The BV formula is in GoogleDB /ARMY tab, and explained below.

Company organisation

Company consists of Officer Corps and Troops. Only Officers (COL, LTC, MAJ, CAPT, LT) may be in Officer Corps, but they may occasionally serve in Troops as well, especially LT may have to do this if there is a lack of NCO's (non-commissioned officers: MSG, SGT, CPL).

The nominal size of Officer Corps is 1 + 1/Section. The most senior officer is called Commanding Officer (CO), the second is First Officer (FO) and the rest are Staff Officers (SO). All these have to be NPC's. (Company also has a Commander who is a PC.)

The Company may have any number of Sections, though adding more degrades the Command value, for which reason the companies are typically not too large, 3 Sections being common.

In each section, the most battleworthy soldier (typically a NCO) is the Section Leader. Second one is Deputy Section Leader. The most senior soldier in the whole company is called First Sergeant (who is simultaneously the Section Leader of his section). One section may be at most 10 troops including the section leaders.

Without a CO, the company does not possess command. Without at least 1 soldier in Troops contingent, the company does not possess fighting power. In both cases, the fighting strength is 0.

Determination of BV

Battle Value = Command * sum(Fighting Power) / 100 rounded down to integer.

Command is determined as follows:                  
- Base Value   100            
- First Battle Aquila gives 30/20, the subsequent aquilae 5
- CO, FO and SOs who are at least CAPT, give up to 80 each
- If the # of officers is less than (1+1/section), -10 for each lacking
- If there are gaps in the officer ranks, such as a company having LTC but no MAJ (who is lower), -10 for each gap (upper end does not count but lower end does: to avoid this penalty, each company must have a LT)
- For each Section including the first one and partially manned ones, -20

Fighting Power is determined as follows:                  

All troops have their fighting power rating, the most common ones being:
PTE = 1
CPL, LT (if not in officer corps) = 2
SGT = 3
MSG = 4

This is multiplied by the position (First Sergeant = 4, Section Leader = 3, Deputy S.L. = 2, Other = 1).


Discussion

The system makes it feasible to have cost-efficient Detachments (company with 1 Section) even without experienced officers, aquilae or NCOs. Their BV starts at about 10 points.

To have a serious combat force, many things will need to be taken into account, however. CAPT or preferably MAJ to lead it (because the CO bonus is so high), junior officers to fill all the other ranks (to evade gap penalty), one Battle Aquila, and as good NCOs as possible to fill the troop positions with a bonus (a MSG is 12 fighting power points more valuable as a First Sergeant than a PTE!). If all these are in order, the BV of the Detachment is 2-3x better than with yellow forces (20-30 points), and it also allows to add more Sections.

The Royal Palace Guard (TMA Aquila, MAJ, CAPT, LT, 2*MSG, 2*SGT, 16*PTE) is only 2 sections yet sports 78 BV points.

To go higher requires foremost more Command, because each section added to the Troops, decreases the Command multiplier by a fixed value. With an LTC as a CO, it is possible to get 120-180 points with 4-5 sections. If a COL is available, 200-300 points become possible.

Mainly, having a large and battle-ready army is preparation for the future. It gives PRE points and aids in the collection of taxes (VEG, MEAT, FOIE, CAN, MUS, bonus items). These alone might not justify the exorbitant cost of acquiring quality NPC and battle aquilae. But if the uprising starts, it is too late to build the army, and preparations made over years can be laid waste by the angry mob.

In the County race (when the subgame: Peasant Uprising is not in effect), all troops held by the County character, are counted towards the peacekeeping forces there automatically. So all mercenary / rental agreements will need to be made separately, and the troops are at risk of death etc, and not in the command of the "owner", so all these need to be taken into account if entering into such agreements.

The King has pondered what to do and decided to not rent away his troops as that might endanger the security of TVA Duchy and TMA CryptoTown, and especially that the troops would not be in his direct command. Civil war is best prevented by having more troops under your thumb than just under oath, right?

Also if uprisings occur, the seasoned companies of the King can easily be deployed in the counties under wartime command.

The OldDuchy (#48) is the previous Royal CryptoArmy character. It will make markets on officers and troops to allow others to customize.

New PTE and LT come to market annually from Labor. They will cost 3 mil or more because of weaponry included. The quantity is large but limited.

Promotions happen as follows:
PTE has a small chance of becoming CPL
CPL-SGT-MSG is somewhat larger chance, approx half of CPL die before reaching MSG though
MSG will be promoted MAJ in an off-chance
LT will easily be promoted CAPT
Higher officer promotion is slow.
