Well I am on a long journey with FCT. Expecting ate least 40 -50 USD per single unit. A lot of time, people and money resources can be solved by Factom

I decided to transfer to the paper wallet so I downloaded it from factom website but when I double click it it wont open. I saw that for mac and linux this was normal and tried the instructions for those OS and tried to open it in the command promt but also without succes. Does anyone know why? some app missing on my pc or am I missing something here ?

Just drag & drop the file into a command prompt and press enter.

I thought it was possible to upload your private key into the enterprise wallet ? wanted to check if it arrived since I cant copy paste from cmd prompt

You can. Just press right mouse batton on the window -> select all. Next press second time right mouse botton on the window (or cntrl + c) -> coppy.

Any more news for Major uses ? Any reason for the large increases or is it just because all the alt's are rising

Oh yes, one of the most solid ones, considering fundamentals behind it. I really expect some news from the dev team. There has not been any updates on their blog for some time.

hello,i just started to use ubuntu(always used windows)but i cant get the wallet installed.
But i want to get my factoids off the exchange.
So i also have a windows computer that was never online with the program factoidpapermill on it.
I put it on there last year.

1-So if i use this program i see a adress created with a private key......is this the adress where i can send my funds to?And save the private key?
2-Is it true that everytime i start up this program i get a new adress and a new private key......so i can send my factoids to different adresses with different private keys?
3-does it matter that i put this program(factoidpapermill)on my computer 1 year ago?
4-do i only have to save the private key that is given with factoidpapermill?nothing else?
5-When i put only this private key(from the factoidpapermill) in to a wallet(enterprice or exodus)does my adress with the balance then show up?
6-Is it possible that i can use the created private key with papermill in windows........that later on i can use this in to a wallet in ubuntu?

The thing is that i cannot try these things out because i cant get a wallet working.
So its very scary to send the factoids to a created adress from a offline windows machine.
But maybe even scarier to leave them on exchange!

Ans 1- Yes, I usually save both Key and Address for reference. Address can be used on web to check the balance if required.
Ans 2- Yes, On Windows every time I execute factoidpapermill, it generates new address and key. I save the one I am going to use.
Ans 4- I always save the both key and address. That's it.
Ans 6- What matters is the private key and the address. It could be generated from Linux or Windows, doesn't matter. It can be used to import in any valid wallet on any OS.

Consider these as suggestion to help you start. Take necessary precautions to save the key from prying eyes.

Factom is one of the steady and stable coins with great team and efforts. Seems to be moving slow but once the governments and organisations start using it, it will sky rocket similar to XRP and ETH. It's not just for pump and dumps, it will create a significant change in blockchain industry. As of today FCT seems like moving slowly but the trend is upwards. Hoping to see it reach 50$ soon considering all other unexpected alt-coins jumped so high in no time.

Thanks that worked out great just send my first ammount from polo to the paperwallet, still a bit troubled by the fact that I cant see them but I know with my private key I can upload them somehwere. Is it already possible to upload private key into enterprise wallet?

Search ur fct address in factom explorer ( http://explorer.factom.org/ ) im sure u will be able to see ur factoids

thank you so much for your time optimusprime and lolikop.
I managed to install the wallet en synced it online(no need to download the blockchain)and put my private key in(from papermill).
Now i see my balance.......GREAT!
I dont know how i can download the full blockchain that doesnt go automatiq in ubuntu?
And a last question......When i use papermill for a private key this is a string of letters and numbers....if i put this in to the wallet i get a 12 words seed?
So what is the diffrence with the private key from papermill and the privatekey from wallet(12words)?
Is it not treu that when you only have the private keys from papermill and you delete your wallet you just download the wallet again and put your privatekey(from papermill)
And you have your balance again?
Is there anybody that can ELI5 for me?

Backing up your wallet can protect you from loss of Factoids and Entry Credits. Exporting your seed will back up any addresses generated from this wallet seed, however will not back up any address that were NOT generated from the seed. If you have any balances on addresses not generated from your wallet seed, you may want to move them to an address generated from your seed.

Caution: Importing will replace your current seed but will retain all addresses in your wallet (which will then be shown as addresses not generated from your seed).
