. FC4B Funding Status (last updated 10/22/2012 09:00 EST) Bank | Funds high (max payout available)* | | MoneyPak | $100, $250, $500** & $1,000 PINs In Stock | | PayPal | Funds high (max payout available) | | Dwolla | Funds high (max payout available) | |
* Last night the site reflected "no bank funds". Technically we aren't out of funds but when nobody is online there is a "circuit breaker" function which limits orders. This prevents the site from buying too much too fast to a point where we could go excessively long and be exposed to downside risk. Some huge sells last night kicked the breaker in for the first time. Breaker reset and ready for more sales. I am pleased with the response of the breaker it should allow the site to accept larger sale amounts without exposing partners to excessive risk. ** $500 PINs are out of stock but will be reloaded within a couple hours.

Update: All new orders temporarily disabled as we consider changes to the site. Stupid people doing stupid things. We need to figure out how to stupid proof our service. All existing orders will be processed normally. Our terms of service prohibit sending the proceeds of a sale to a third party.Stupid person version: Step 1) You create an order using your information, your bitcoin address, your contact email. Step 2) You deposit coins you own and control. Step 3) We send the proceeds to you (via an account under your name). Hypothetically if you are going to violate our terms of service and send funds somewhere else, maybe you shouldn't send it to your lawyer's firm's corporate bank account. If you do send it to your lawyer maybe you shouldn't do it without his knowledge. If you do it without his knowledge maybe you shouldn't put HIS email address as the contact email address. If you put his email address as the contact address maybe YOU SHOULD USE THE CORRECT ACCOUNT NUMBER SO THE ACH DOESN'T BOUNCE!
"Who are you and how do you have my bank account number?" is not the kind of response one wants to get when verifying an order.

It will be a couple days, I would plan for Monday. If we get it done earlier it will relaunch over the weekend. The problem is it isn't simply a small code change. I generally dislike "accounts". Accounts get hacked, accounts get lost. The design of FC4B was to make each transaction independent. If there is a problem with an order, just let it expire and make a new one. Of course in hindsight such a structure requires grown ups to act like grown ups. It worked while the site was small but it opens us up to potential liability through the actions of others. So the changes (at least in terms of code & database) are rather significant.

Ah, so are you having to go to an account system now? I liked not having to do that as well. Either way, Im sure it will be good. Since I found your service, Ive always loved it. Shame on those who ruin something awesome cuz they gotta abuse the system...

Yes but we will try to keep it simple. Still discussing how to accomplish our goals while keeping the service "lightweight".

Update: Since I seem to be getting a lot of email/PM about this. Our shutdown has nothing to do with BitInstant's shutdown. Honestly had I known BitInstant was going to be down I would have delayed the shutdown of our site. I know the conspiracy nuts will never believe it but there isn't some "coin-Illuminati" running everything behind the scenes.

Hurricane not helping the launch of the site; I lost power yesterday and I have limited connectivity now. Development continues. No firm ETA due to the delay and uncertainty. It is my top priority so it will be up a soon as possible.

Sorry site is still not up. Have a couple of unresolved issues to work out with stripe (who we will be using for verification). Getting close though and as an added bonus the new site doesn't look like it was designed by someone who is allergic to style and form. A teaser:
