Does anyone have stats on what the network speed was when POW was last active?
Also is there a slack etc channel?
You can still see network speed when pow ended on suprnova

No slack channel currently, development discussions mostly happen on IRC, we have a pretty welcoming community there #vanillacoin @ freenode

There are currently no settings available in the built-in miner. Also please note here that it's a bit outdated compared to standalone cpu and gpu miners. You would be better on with downloading one from the OP and join a pool with it. Hashrate tends to get really high so solo mining with a cpu isn't really an option. GPU mining is the most effective currently (CPUs hash slower here) and in the near future FPGAs will be an option after release of miner software. Edit: https://talk.vanillacoin.net/topic/68/optimized-win64-cpuminer/22This is a standalone cpu miner, but I doubt it will be profitable in the GPU/FPGA race, you can connect to a pool with it though.

CPU mining can only really be done productively on CPU only coins or Folding coins like CURE. Even then it's a relative thing, GPUs dwarf CPUs currently.
Anyhow, IIRC, VNL suprnova hashrate was about half the entire network hashrate usually, sometimes a bit less (~300 ghash?)... Who/what was the other pool? It was thought to be just one man's farm, right?
Anyway, what's the latest on the whirlpool algo? Where's Wolf0?

I can not really say anything on the private hash, no one knows. No public miners were released since the ones that are already in the op. Wolf0 isn't usually releasing his mining software, he released one slower public miner earlier for VNL, but it's not the fastest anymore currently which you can download. You need to ask him on what he is up to currently ^^ John is currently only developing mining software for FPGAs.

Diff was low, but hash wasn't yet high either, also take into consideration that only like half the blocks are POW, the rest is POS. Problem was identified and will get a fix. Not much coins were mined, look at the supply.

67 blocks were mined and half of them were POS. Rollback affects everyone from Exchanges to Pools, so I don't see how your question is serious.

Another mandatory update will be pushed out soon (if I had to take a guess ETA should be 10hours or so since John is currently afk/busy) and that should fix everything and POW can resume. Jump on IRC if you want to get the info instantly.

Pools are down currently. Yes you can mine with AMD cards when the POW resumes, check the OP for the Smelter miner, it's the fastes publicly available miner for AMD cards atm (should work with 270x,280x,290x and the 78xx series, etc) Suprnova will be up once everything is ok, it had the most hash before the pause.
