The issue isn't that Chinese doesn't have a word for vanilla... the problem is that in english the word vanilla has more meaning than being a plant or flavor. I think using transliteration for the word vanilla would work. Another option would be to translate it as "Plain Coin" or "Simple Coin" or something along those lines.

saymissme was saying that 1szb was using the transliteration, which sounded bad in chinese for some reason. He also seemed to think the translation for vanilla would be better. He didn't clarify much other than that. I don't speak mandarin so I wouldn't know.

There were a lot of English speakers (probably still are) who didn't understand the reason for the name including myself at first (Polo box and I helped each other work out the Linux angle in Aprilish). In fact, someone posted a question a few pages back inquiring about it.
If the coin works as intended by john-connor then any language disparity (which is a valid point by the by) may be solved by a larger amount of people discussing it.
It wouldn't hurt though to try and create an excerpt in the Chinese ANN if involved people are inclined...

Exciting releases ahead of us, John always keeps us amazed with his ideas and the pace of developments. Doubt this will slow down anytime soon.

Exciting releases ahead of us, John always keeps us amazed with his ideas and the pace of developments. Doubt this will slow down anytime soon. VNL is 100% development and 0% hype. If that is 90% vs 10% so far the price would be more than 1$ for sure.

What's going on with all the FUD surrounding this coin, and the rumors of an insta-mine, mega blocks, etc? Sorry, I'm not trying to troll. I just can see that there is apparently one salty user over at http://www.reddit.com/r/vanillacoin You what this ZeroTime technology needs? The first fair fork of it. Pegasus Coin has been looking for a suitable technology to brand, and a fair fork of ZeroTime makes perfect sense. What do you send when you need something fast? Pega. http://imgur.com/a/0CMJl https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=914517.0 As long as it's a promising new technology (like Zerotime) with a zero-premine coin and a fair launch, the brand name is up for grabs.
