But why has the shareprice not reached 0 yet?  Huh

Could have something to do with AM's recent domination of the hardware market with the Prisma or maybe because the company has several million dollars in assets.

Let's drink to selling lots of prisma miners next week for lots of btc at this low  price   Grin  that should offset the low margin mining.

EDIT: I finally noticed the ads on the forum... Listing 1.39btc price.  Bargain!

FC have disappeared for one week.  Shocked

What do you mean? I have the impression FC disappears always for 1-2 months at a time...

He can go silent for a month - but, it appears he at least logs in frequently.
It says he hasn't been logged in since the 26th.

I am confident FC will return during the Prisma launch or worst case before 2015 begins.

There are a lot of miners and manufacturers getting squeezed but I think AM is positioned very well with the Prisma being the best deal in town and pegged to BTC, not USD. Remember Gen3 Chips were paid for long ago and Friedcat's stated goal of squeezing everyone.

Is anyone buying pre-orders anymore?

At this point it is more about survival than profitability. AM has no debt and the best product on the market for nearly immediate delivery. You can buy 14 Th/s for around 5000$

Friedcat's stated goal of squeezing everyone.

Well, FC is certainly getting some help today.

I am worried that a continued price decline will cause a further centralization of mining power into the hands of a few players though. This can not be healthy for the Bitcoin ecosystem as a whole.

AM needs to gain as much liquidity as possible now by selling hardware and do some self-mining. I strongly believe that dividends are out of the question at the moment and we better be off waiting for a decent gen4 now! Gen 4 also needs to be deployed big time. And also self-mining from day 1!

Didnt see this posted here yet, and in fact, I hadnt seen it anywhere, but might be relevant to you:

BitFury plans to achieve 0.2 Joules-per-Gigahash (J/GH) in its high powered mining centers by the end of this year, with plans to improve to an astounding sub 0.1 J/GH by “mid-2015[.]”

0.2 J/GH was what Gen 3 asicminer chips were simulated to achieve at 40nm but unforeseen heat problems in the design were encountered in actual chip testing. Friedcat stated that these heat problems were solved going into Gen4 so I guess we will have to wait and see in both cases.  Whatever happens, we'll have interesting stories to tell the great grand kids while rocking on the back porch.

Doesn't matter what the J/GH is if you can never recover the capital cost of miners even with free electricity, which is where bitcoin mining stands right now.

nah, 350$/btc is still much better than last year.

edit:

Nevermind the fact that it's *still* up 270% over the last 12 months, and 2700% over the past two years. These guys always seem to leave that part out...
