I downloaded the latest VNL Vanilla wallet but cannot see any way to backup coins using the GUI. I hesitate to transfer coins until I figure that out.
What am I missing?

the project is in beta and the gui is the last item on the to be upgraded list ... so, just copy the wallet.dat to several different physical locations, or better yet the entire appdata/roaming/vanillacoin folder if you've the space -you might have to visit folder options in CP to make the hidden folders visible [edit] oh well, just saw the date.  this would have been better off if posted in a VNL thread  , perhaps a mod will merge it |

Sorry, I guess I don't really understand PoS. How does changing the size of the payout you get from pool affect how well you stake?
stakeweight or coin-age is the key. it is the fuel for the PoS engine. Amt. of time (in days)(that those coin have been unmoved at their address) x # of coin = stakeweight. so you recieve 100 coin (in one tx) and leave it in your wallet to stake, it's been there 10 days, your stakeweight = 1000 same day you recieved 50 coin (in one tx) ten days later it's weight is 500. the block of coin with the greater weight is (generally speaking) more likely to find a block ...

What is the point of having 50 billion of these coins? That just seems crazy to me. Is there a practical purpose to this, other than massive price dilution?
Since the coin can't be sold on the exchanges for less than .00000001, then the default market cap is $130kish.
Is anyone selling this off exchange for cheaper than .00000001?

yeah ... it's not working. AFAIK it's showing correct bal, (your 10k + i put 25k) but always gives the error: The CAPTCHA code you entered was incorrect! and if you try case sensitive input it returns a blank page. i guess the possibility exists that the wallet hasn't finished synching, though that doesn't seem likely, if it's still not working after a few more hours i'll ask jommy99 to have a look at it [edit 08/15/15 11:45 ut] message sent it works now, maybe payout amount should be changed? give it some hits and see what you think - i/o is case sensitive - pays out once per hour |

I put some coins in mac wallet there 7 days ago and so far nothing has changed.
Appear only the coins on balance.
Stake and immature appears with 0 coins.
the wallet is unlocked

don't know how many are in your wallet but the more you have (and the more time they've accrued) the better your chances are of finding a block. (coin-age =s # of coins x age in days). i have a wallet w/~ 2k coin online and it has not staked for 3 days now, though it usually returns ~ 0.25/day thanks I have a little more than 2k in wallet and in seven days nothing has changed. The coins also dont appear as immature. I think it maybe be an issue on mac wallet welcome; - you won't see any immature coins unless you manage to find a block with the CPU wallet miner, (unlikely) as the pools can't send your coins untill they're mature |
