everyone please note the www.nxtcrypto.org that has been MUCH improved in the last 2 days.  QBTC@nextcoin has worked hard on it and is paying for hosting out of pocket, I hope she gets some bounty for it and to keep it running.

I think its in good shape for launch now.  As soon as CfB/JLC comes across with the source it will be posted there as well.

We NEED an official homepage and this one seems pretty good. How can we ensure that people wonīt get fooled over there?

It is not a good strategy to put the success or failure of a 100 million usd project in the hands of one person... If nextern can't deliver the client for whatever reason, there is no chance for a mass adoption. And the other projects are also developing. Like the asset exchange for btc announced today.

Btw, I am currently developing a closed-source Windows client. Right now, I am working on the blockchain explorer part, since this is what I want personally, but eventually it will have all mainstream features like seen in the web client. It might not be the silver bullet, but it might suit some. I will post when I have something to show and download.

I would really like to see others starting developement of other clients and less nexern bashing.

Canīt wait to see your client! But why do we need more clients? Why not unite our force and work on one, badass client?

No i think Nexern is gonna be ahead of schedule....we are talking about a specific client for messaging.

another client for file sharing etc.

Nexern is a great guy and I am sure he will come up with a superb client, but we (especially the developers) can´t sit back and wait for this guy to make us rich. I am not a developer myself, but will do everything possible to make Nxt a success story. Like I did in the last 5 weeks. I took 3 days off and will fly over to Berlin in february to the Bitcoin Conference to spread the word and make people aware of Nxt, but we need to hurry up with all the development as others are coming up with features we believe will make Nxt big, like the eschange for Bitcoin which was announced today...

@CfB

transparent is underway....so which feature is next on the list?

Messages, then Voting. After that we can use VS to decide what next feature to add.

So clients are holding us hostage

Isn't there a javascript library to check sha256 sums? If so, somebody more fluent than me in javascript can easily add an update.html page to the client. It can request the value of the NRSversion alias from localhost, which contains the latest stable version and sha256, and I can also start putting the download url as a value of NRSrelease alias. Then download the zip file from that url, check if sha256 matches, and notify the user whether the downloaded zip file is legitimate or not. No need to trust a third party or manually check sha256 sums. Only the first time you download a client need to verify manually.

Great idea! Anyone fit in javascript?

I'll get working on this!

I love you.

The fact is that the stolen NXT from all five of these guys is sitting stuck in the five thief accounts and it can't get converted to BTC without going thru Dgex.   That ain't gonna happen.

This is a major crime in the tens of thousands of dollars range and we know who did it.  People go to prison for years for this kind of crap.

(Are you reading this, EpicThomas?  I know you are.)

You know, if the NXT were somehow to be magically transferred back into the accounts where it is supposed to be, maybe just maybe I won't personally make it my mission to find your home address and phone number, post it right here on this forum, and call the police in your local town or city.

Do you feel lucky, punk?

A MESSAGE TO EPIC THOMAS:

Dude, I'm coming for you.  You had better put back the NXT where it belongs before I find out who you are and go to the police.  I will stop if you repay the NXT you have taken from others.  Once I find out a name and address and turn it over to law enforcement, things are out of my hands.  Until that time you can save yourself.  Do it.

My email to customer service at Digital River:

Can you identify the real name, email address, mailing address, and telephone number of the user renting a cloud server from you at 162.243.246.233 for the past several days?  This person is involved in illegal activities and has stolen over $23,000 that we know of so far through  unauthorized transfers of assets.  When you have obtained this information, please let me know the name and location of the representative who may be contacted by local law enforcement.

This is not a prank or joke.   My name is X.  I am a resident of X and you can contact me at my cell number of X if needed.  Thank you, and I look forward to your prompt response.

Cool  Cool

We could travel together  Grin

We can make a fund for that!
But you have to post photos! Smiley

If coins are stolen....we can freeze them until a full investigation is completed.

Who will play judge Dredd?

As a currency with cap more than 1 million, I don't think setting up a dedicate server for downloading is too expensive to be feasible.

Auto update clients direct from the blockchain...this was planned from the beginning...lets just expedite the roll out.

C-f-B?

Aye, it was planned. But now my team doesn't work on the client anymore. Other client devs should decide where to store client binaries.

It is very important to have a functioning client. I see that your team is not working on the client side anymore, but could you please coordinate the development of it? Otherwise your server-side codes will be worthless if the users will turn away from Nxt because of the lack of a usable interface.

What about the nextern-holiday-fund? Is there someone organazing it so he can work on the client full time?
C'mon bitchizzz

I have asked several stakeholders to lead a fund-raising but they do not seem to be interested. I would suggest nextern to sell his full-feature client instead of making it free. That would give him quite a sum for his work.

Nxt won't succeed without a full functioning, user friendly client. I hope everyone is aware of this.
+100

If NXT is going to succeed, it needs mass adoption.
I've got some IT background, but I've had a steep learning curve to climb over the last 10 days just to get the client up and running.

There is no way that the average Facebook/email/Candycrush user is going to get into NXT if they have to write their own .bat files.
And without a mass adoption, NXT is never going to be any more than a really amazing ALT-currency, not the only currency.

In summary:
one-click client = NXT success.

Then you will like nexern's client.
If.

@ the owner of account 4071545868996394636

U r forging 2 branches at once. After TF is activated this will lower ur forging power to zero. Rethink ur forging strategy plz.

How is that possible? How can he forge 2 branches?

22k.io Alias Browser and URL Shortener
Now with alias typeahead!

I'm still hacking along with various fun features. One of these days I'll do something with the design, but I'm keeping it practical for the moment.

Alias account
A small, cool update: the account that owns an alias is now displayed on the "info" page. Example: http://22k.io/22k/info

Someone squat your name? Try this:

1. Visit http://22k.io/YOURALIASHERE/info/.
2. Grab the account number.
3. Search forums for the number and send them an offer PM (if you find it).

In the future, I'll work on some "standards" for naming aliases so you could find contact info for an account by looking at it's list of aliases for one containing "contact" in it's name.

Typeahead GO box!

1. Visit http://22k.io/
2. Type in a letter and watch in amazement as aliases appear.
3. Repeat #2.

MASSIVE time saver to check if a name is registered. Enjoy!

You'll be so productive that you can't help sending me some nxt to keep coding! 22k dev account: 4915862015826193000

Thanks! More ideas?

PS - This is just a demo server setup. Please don't kill it.

Very nice! I'm a major aliasholder and could not be happier with all these features! Cheesy
Being able to put contact info would be good, although I personally would prefer that to be optional. I can imagine a scenario where I decide to keep some aliases for myself and not even want to negotiate. I would be unhappy with constant requests if I would sell, in that case.

I'm also thinking of a way to hire/rent out aliases, basically the way a domain now must be renewed every year. However, that constantly comes up against a huge trust wall where I can imagine someone would be wary of putting his redirect in my care. Can someone comment on that idea? Maybe it's just total crap.  Grin

You could charge for every hit coming from your alias. Like 0.000001NXT per redirection, or similar. So he only has to pay when the redirection already occured.

Btw, mcjavar, I send you one more 200 coins to support you promotion plans.
I know it's not a big help, but I still hope that some big fat stake holder start to fill ashamed...
And I hope that transaction will be a stimulus for you node to jump to some newer block Smiley

Thank you very much for your support! I really hope that they will see the point of this and will support Nxt´s presence at the conference Smiley
I will take 3 days off from work to travel to Berlin (I took the money from the holiday pot we have with my wife - she wasn´t really happy about the idea, but she supports nxt too:) ) and do to the organizational stuff, but I am not an nxt millionaire and can´t afford to invest thousands of usd in marketing.

I am stuck at block 28412 (2 hours ago)
Restarted nxt, but it didnīt help. This is not the first time this happens. I think bugs like this needs to get corrected before the 3rd of jan. Or am I the only one having such issues?
I had a lot of such problems some days ago, on completly different computers (different network, different connection configuration, different OS). But now with 0.4.7e and easyCopyString all problems are gone.

I am also running 0.4.7e and using the nodes from the string. But I still have to restart my server 1-2 times a day.
