Will the Monero GUI-wallet be as slow to sync as the simplewallet is?
If it will, will there be a light version of GUI available like bitcoin has Electrum?
GUI uses the "normal" daemon to sync, so I don't think there will be significant difference in syncing times. However, you could connect the GUI to a remote node, which kind of results in a light version then. Will the GUI support viewonlywallets?
Likely later, when more advanced settings are visualized. Does the using of SSD as hard drive, make any wallet faster to sync? Or is it more depending about the processor?
How soon is soon?
Yes, that makes a significant impact. An SSD is probably 3-5 times as fast sync wise than an HDD. Sync time also depends on the processor, but more so on kind of hard drive. Probably with the next tagged release.

What do I need to do do upgrade the wallets? I am apparently trying to load an old wallet and it needs some type of upgrade?
If it's the old standard, I think you will have to just send your monero to a new wallet. You should be able to run simplewallet.exe with the flag --wallet-file arg to recover it for starters. Then just make a new wallet and send to a modern mnemonic seed style wallet. Here is a post about it. https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/3jteca/how_to_import_old_monero_wallet/ and the answer worked. But probably if he had just run it with the flag I talked about above he wouldn't have gotten that error. At this point all I am desperatly trying to do is even get bitmonerod to work. I tried starting over with the new binaries but it reads "Uncaught exception! attempt to get timestamp from height 1105296 failed -- timestamp not in the db What does db stand for? And hat someone tells me to run with the --wallet-file command, what do they mean? when I run that command it returns unknown command... Which OS are you on? I assume Windows. If so, your blockchain likely got corrupted. Therefore, you have to delete your blockchain from C:\ProgramData\bitmonero\lmdb (note it is a hidden folder, so enter this into the explorer instead of navigating to it) and sync from scratch again. Db means database by the way. To upgrade the old wallet: Do you remember which OS the wallet was created on? If so, download the binaries from the getmonero website for that same OS. Extract the binaries, go to the extracted folder and open bitmonerod (the daemon). Bitmonerod first has to sync fully before you are able to restore your wallet. If bitmonerod is fully synced (you can check this by typing "status" into bitmonerod, it should be equal to the blockheight displayed on moneroblocks.info), place the wallet.bin, wallet.bin.address.txt, and wallet.bin.keys in the same folder as bitmonerod and simplewallet are located. Subsequently, open simplewallet and type in the wallet's name. Simplewallet will automatically update you to a new version and you should be able to see your coins (and transact with them). Can you send monero to moneradress multiple times without it being a problem? For example, I sent a small amount to test and then a few more monero a second time. I checked xmr.llcoins. net for the and they are there. Just had to enter the tx id for each tx sent.
Yes, you can safely do this :-)

Hey guys, I withdrawed a test amount XMR from Polo to my Simplewallet (OSX) without Payment ID. The XMR never arrived in my wallet. Any ideas if this is "fixable"?
Go to http://moneroblocks.info/ and paste your Txid there If a transaction appears, check (on poloniex) that withrawal address was correct To add, is your bitmonerod (the daemon) fully synced? And if so, is your wallet fully synced? Type "refresh" into simplewallet to do so.

Hey guys, I am having a problem with simplewallet,
I have my keys and address files in the proper directory but when I try to start bitmonerod I get an error message but it shuts down immeaditly there are words flashing in red but it shuts off to quick for me to read them. Looks like it is saying something about some type of file path or storage location.
Are there any tricks to using the blockchain bootstrap? just put it in the directory and blockchain.raw, right?
There are instructions on how to use the blockchain bootstrap here: https://github.com/monero-project/bitmonero/releasesUnder "Updating: Blockchain Conversion". Can you have two different wallets in the same directory, and load each wallet as you need to using the same daemon?
Yes, you can have multiple wallets using one daemon. To do so, you have to run multiple instances of simplewallet. How do you view the log to see what the error is?
Launch bitmonerod with the --log-level 2 argument. The exact error message should be visible in your log file.

What is the meaning of the error message below in response to an attempted transfer in simplewallet?
"Error: internal error: Duplicate indices though we did not ask for any"
From IRC: <moneromooo> That is "try again". I'm not sure yet why, but it can be ignored and retried.

Hello,
Anyone know the procedure for import wallet ( 0.5.2.0 Version ) in the new version 0.9.4.0 of bitmonerod ?
in the era seed , key views , etc ... not existing ...

...and the good news just continues to roll down the pike. Article after article. Things are looking good for the moment.
And 240 active nodes. I *think* that's the highest I've seen. Goes with the current 26MH/s nicely. I noticed it was up around 245 earlier today. Did not see any additional activity in China though. Total nodes is at 416 currently: https://monerohash.com/nodes-distribution.html

how fresh is the latest bootstrap? my sync time is awful .. been two days and only at 400K blocks
The raw blockchain, which can be download on the website and subsequently imported, is updated frequently and automatically if I recall correctly. Link: https://getmonero.org/downloads/
