bc.info has an interesting statistic available on their API page that most people overlook. Probability. It's the probability that one would find a valid block with just one single hash. https://blockchain.info/q/probabilityCurrent chance % to find a valid block with a single hash is 0.0000000000000000000048924699290284694 If you are CPU mining at 2 million hashes per second then you can knock off a few leading zeros to the above figure .... Then you have average # of hashes required to find a block. https://blockchain.info/q/hashestowin

their API really sucks!! just implement bitcoin core on a vps .. no reason to use their crappy API
I've thought about doing this but I haven't... how much are you paying per month for a VPS so you can accept bitcoin as a payment option?

This is a real bummer. Their receive payments API was the best service they offered in my opinion. More and more bad press for blockchain.info. Not sure what's going on over there but it's clear that they are having some serious issues lately.

If you really care about your project, you would need to offer a bigger prize for the winner, or hire a single person who do the work for you. In this way you will just get crappy images or Photoshop tries powered by YouTube tutorials. Not many people would take this work for just the chance of getting 23 USD. Just being honest with you This is just a fun side project where fellow bitcoiners can earn some coin by participating. No need to dump a ton of money on a logo. If I wree starting a co like coinbase or bitpay then I would agree with you.

Agreed, you should post what you are seeing. I just went through from 15minute all the way to 3day view and I don't see any upsidedown head and shoulder pattern....

New post on Friday: Celebrating National [donut] Day Why post this? Could this have a hidden meaning -- a donut is also a symbol for zero. If Friday was day zero then Gemini could launch tomorrow. Them be some fancy donuts! I agree I think it could be a hidden message, no purpose on posting this unless Tyler or Cameron accidentally thought they were logged in on their personal account and wanted to post a picture of the gourmet donuts they were being served. I'm thinking it's a sign... 4 days until launch? THey posted it on the 5th so that would mean they are launching Wednesday the 9th. They could also explain the mini pump we saw today, for those that have inside info.

I created this for just this reason. It's ok not everyone knows how to code. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=990348.0I created many lessons (videos and written) with bitcoin and PHP, from simple getting the current price, to building a faucet or a web store. Hope this helps. I know I'm not the best coder out there, but it's a start.

Looks like they are back up now. Their API was down as well which messed up some of the blocks reporting on my site but no big deal. Too bad for BC.info they were just trying get over last week's fiasco and then they go offline for a few hours.
i can still see the message that they are under maintenance when i visit bc, man this is killing me. i would move my funds from bc once it's up. In fact, they are down again. No need to panic. Next time when it goes up, just download the paper wallet backup of your wallet and preserve that securely. That's enough. yeah i'm not panicking lol i keep only small part of my bitcoins at bc, hoping them to get back up soon so i can grab my bitcoins off bc. I don't keep any of my coins at BC.info, I only use them for their API and websocket for web development. I think their receive payments API is unmatched by anyone in the industry even if they do go down from time to time. The only 3rd party that has a tiny bit of my coinage is circle everything else only I have access to.

I've read somewhere on their website about this guy joining them... What's in it for customers? How will he help improve Kraken? Is it going to make a difference for the end user?
Perhaps insured deposits? This guy works in compliance and plans to try to keep Kraken up-to-date on regulations. You can't be insured unless your company is compliant. Insurance is definitely good, but that would probably make it harder to get verified (more documents/info needed). And as far as I'm concerned, I wouldn't trade the current usability and efficiency of the verification process for insurance. I hope he doesn't mess Kraken up... Let's see where this goes. You can be almost certain it will be harder to get verified. Current exchanges need to make the choice of going legit and following regulation or going underground. What's in the best interest for them is to go legit so they can continue to make money and exist. Going underground just puts them at risk. I'm glad finex and BTC-e are still easy to get in and out but who knows how much longer that will last.

BC.info appears to be down again. API is not working neither is their websocket :/ Very bad PR for blockchain.info lately.
They tweeted 30 minutes ago:
Blockchain @blockchain 33m33 minutes ago We're activating maintenance mode again to investigate a database issue. All funds and wallets are secure.

At this rate we won't have any bankers left by the halving Kraken has appointed Howard Bernstein, the ex-CCO of Merriman Capital as the new Chief Compliance Officer. The company says the appointment will help it as Bernstein is someone who comes with similar background, can anticipate the evolving regulation around Bitcoin and to help ensure it is regulated in a way that protects consumers while allowing the game-changing Bitcoin ecosystem to flourish.http://bitcoinist.net/kraken-appoints-howard-bernstein-ex-cco-meeriman-capital-new-chief-compliance-officer/

agree with that. i haven't touched the bitcoin market in a couple months. been 50/50 fiat/btc for even longer than that. this market is a real chop fest.
Agreed the only recent trade I made was a short at $231 when the devs, specifically Peter and Gavin, started debating on reddit about the blocksize. News usually isn't a good indicator with bitcoin though so I got lucky on that one.

The only thing more boring than watching the boring bitcoin market is discussing the boring market On a positive note if you are long term bullish like myself the last 6 months has been a great opportunity to accumulate more coins being less than $300. I've only done one trade recently, luckily I was on the correct side for that trade, but the lack of movement makes it less fun to trade

Why would an "evil" entity create something that directly challenges "evil" entities (Banks)? Are the two evils battling each other? What if the banks made it and they pretend to be against it and then slowly accept it all the while they hold 1 million coins. That would be the crime of the century if that were the case.

Well that answers it, they'll be launching soon. They have a live stream coming up next week on the 11th. Think it might be then?? They have been really active on twitter since the bitlicense was finalized. Just 30 min ago from Tyler "Exponential changes sweeping the globe". Maybe their ETF was approved and they are giving hints since they obviously can't say anything until it launches.
