1081  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul Vs Nate Diaz boxing Aug 5th on Dazn PPV on: August 09, 2023, 04:30:19 AM
@rdbase. Logan Paul is only doing this to hype himself. He certainly knows that Conor will never go below to his level in pay per view earnings. It was different with Nate vs. Jake because Nate knew that a fight against Jake would give him his biggest purse of his career. This is not the same for Conor. Conor has already received his biggest career earnings from the fight vs. Mayweather.

Also, I speculate that we might witness Conor's next fight in bare knuckle boxing. There are some rumors in social media saying that Conor wants to be an owner of BKFC. He might use himself as owner, promoter and athlete to market the promotion hehehehe.
1082  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is NFT's hype over? on: August 09, 2023, 03:55:07 AM
@Abiky. I very much agree. NFT's hype presently might be over, however, similar to altcoins, tokenization and DeFi, it is clearly not over for NFTs.

I speculate if gaming companies can find where they can collect much of their profit, NFTs in gaming might make a big recovery. However, only the new projects might takeover. The old play to earn games like Axie Infinity might not return to the 2021 all time highs we have witnessed.

Many traditional or “Web2” video game studios around the world are developing new games that leverage blockchain networks, cryptocurrency, and NFTs. Some of the game industry’s largest studios globally are exploring blockchain games, with appetites spanning across genres and platforms—from PC shooters to mobile games and multiplayer metaverse worlds.

And a majority of the game publishers on this list are headquartered in Asia, with just a few Western firms in the mix—a dominance that echoes DappRadar’s prediction that Asia could rule the Web3 gaming space.

1083  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [Updated] FTX on: August 09, 2023, 03:19:24 AM
It appears another FTX does not want to bite the dust and will plead guilty to appeal for a lighter sentence in exchange for cooperation. What they might not know is Sam has been cooperating with the government in secret hehehehe. That is my own speculation only for anyone who thinks I am being annoying again.

In any case, it is very head shaking that FTT is being traded with a price of $1.20 and remains listed.

Ryan Salame, the former co-chief executive of FTX Digital Markets, is in negotiations with federal prosecutors to plead guilty to criminal charges following the implosion of the cryptocurrency exchange, according to people familiar with the case.

The Republican megadonor may enter a plea as soon as next month to offenses including campaign finance law violations, according to the people, who asked not to be identified because the discussions aren’t public.

Salame, who headed the company’s Bahamas subsidiary, has been under intense scrutiny in the sweeping criminal and regulatory investigations. He was a prolific political donor, shelling out $24 million in support of Republican candidates during his time at FTX.

This will not be good for Ryan Salami because he is a Republican hehehehe.
1084  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Top Crypto Execs Confident SEC Will Approve Spot Bitcoin ETFs on: August 09, 2023, 02:52:25 AM
Is the Bitcoin ETF storyline still alive or is this presently dying? It appears there are 2 top crypto executives who are trying to be positive, however, do they really know anything? Mike Novogratz has a Luna tatoo on his left arm and mama Cathie Wood has been making the wrong investment decisions since 2022.

Do they have real information that we do not know or is this a warning sign that they are desperate?

All eyes are on the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as it mulls a number of applications for a spot Bitcoin exchange traded fund (ETF), and two leading names in crypto are now publicly predicting that the agency will eventually give them a green light.

Mike Novogratz, CEO of crypto investment manager Galaxy Digital, claimed this week that such a financial product will launch within the next four to six months, citing inside sources.

“Both of our contacts from the Invesco side and from the BlackRock side gets you to think that this is a question of when, not if,” he said during an earnings call on Tuesday, according to Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas.

“I think the SEC, if it’s going to approve a Bitcoin ETF, will approve more than one at once,” said Cathie Wood, CEO of ARK Investment Management, to Bloomberg on Monday. Wood’s own Ark21 Shares ETF is technically first in line for potential approval on August 13, though most analysts expect the SEC to postpone this approval date.

Also, is the present pump on bitcoin caused by speculation on Ark's ETF application which is scheduled for approval on August 13?
1085  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: US Supreme Court Ruled in Favor of Coinbase on: August 08, 2023, 03:47:20 AM
@zasad@. However, there might be a problem with that definition because uncle Gary can declare any project that has issued a token a fraud and a ponzi scheme. Ethereum, Uniswap, Sushiswap, Curve, Convex and many projects in DeFi issued a token but they never scammed the buyers. Is it right for Gary Gensler to crackdown on them because for the old holders of those coins to profit, new buyers must come in?

I reckon that you are one of the people in this forum who knows that a project that has issued a token should not be automatically declared a ponzi scheme.
I don’t understand why you compare cryptocurrency projects with a Ponzi scheme. Projects like StepN are like a Ponzi scheme, but there are a lot of legal issues.
The SEC is fighting the illegal sale of shares, and the main question now is which token is a share and which token is not a share. There is a court practice that says that the company will pay fines and penalties from the amount received at the ICO. For projects like Ethereum, this is a ridiculous amount, but it is not certain that the SEC will sue Ethereum.

I am not comparing or implying that DeFi projects are ponzi schemes. I am saying that because of the SEC's broad definition of what a ponzi scheme is, uncle Gary can use this definition to declare many projects in the cryptospace as ponzi schemes and crackdown on them.

The SEC's fight against the cryptospace by using the howey test has become questionable after Ripple won their case. Uncle Gary's next fight will be about ponzi schemes and as already mentioned, their definition is broad and they will apply this as much on the cryptospace as possible.
1086  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul Vs Nate Diaz boxing Aug 5th on Dazn PPV on: August 08, 2023, 03:16:54 AM
Drake threw $250,000 on Nate Diaz to beat Jake Paul with 4 to 1 odds. I think he’s probably just hoping to get himself a million dollar payout and didn’t see much gain in betting on Jake Paul. While this does make me think maybe Jake isn’t the sure thing I think he is, it’s not enough to get me to follow him. I still say Jake wins by stoppage.

We all know that Drake loves to throw money on bets that usually doesn't make sense, because he has the capacity to just bet on whoever he likes at the bout. Jake is a decent boxer. Not particularly good, but can throw some decent punches and has a good stamina. If this fight goes the distance, he'd probably win against Nate. But if Jake couldn't really handle the punches Nate is throwing at him, this is a $1m payout for Drake. Stamina-wise, Jake is the better choice. Though in punching power and overall ability to create space and close it, Nate should do this quite easily.

Well in this case, for the first time I am routing for Drake, haha.
4:1 seems quite high for Nate Diaz, he is definitely able to beat JP. He just needs to watch out for the hard punches. If he controls the tempo and follows his game plan there is a good chance to be victorious.

I just hope it's not a rigged fight. With all these "exhibitions" you never know these days.

Jake Paul wins and beats Nate Diaz. I did not find the match live but watched the highlights here
Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz - FullFight Highlights

Also, I don't think these exhibition matches are rigged because if we think that way, then all the excitement and fun of watching these matches will be gone.  Sad

It is certainly not rigged, however, Jake Paul knows which MMA fighters are ready to be his victims and to add in his list hehehe. I reckon that he will need another victim to build his name again before another fight vs. a real boxer. This will certainly bring back the hype on Jake Paul's side and similar to his loss to Tommy Fury, he might lose again vs. a real boxer hehehe. Old, retired MMA fighters and young, real boxers are different. It might be good to witness Jake Paul vs. Jorge Masvidal in boxing, however hehehe.

@zasad@. Agreed and it appears Paypal's entry in the stablecoin market might encourage other leaders in the traditional payment processor industry to create their own stablecoins also, which will certainly be enough to take away the influence of Tether and takeover much of the volume in the cryptospace market.

I have speculated that Tether might bring the crypto edition of the Big Short, however, should we really celebrate if Paypal and other traditional payment processors have taken over the stablecoin market? This might be a similar situation as Binance and the take over of traditional finance, the real criminals.
1088  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Big Short movie, BTC edition? on: August 08, 2023, 01:57:05 AM
Drama about whether there is a real USD support for USDT will certainly continue to be a conversation and debate, even though several times the USDT developer provides concrete evidence that all USDT stocks get a real USD stock, but there are still many who doubt this and hopefully this does not make a shock in the market.

However, it appears that no one believes that Tether is a fractionalized moneylaundering coin anymore. I have been seeing some people who were declaring themselves as bitcoin maximilists in support of Tether. I am not certain why but it might be because of their own interests.

Also, Paypal has issued their own stablecoin which might support the speculation that the American government might use stablecoin issuers as the gateways for inflows and outflows of dollars for the cryptospace.

Payments giant PayPal (PYPL.O) said on Monday it has launched a U.S. dollar stablecoin, becoming the first major financial technology firm to embrace digital currencies for payments and transfers.

While stablecoins - crypto tokens whose monetary value is pegged to a stable asset to protect from wild volatility - have been around for years now, they are yet to successfully make headway into the mainstream consumer payments ecosystem.

Instead, consumers mostly use stablecoins as a means to trade other cryptocurrencies, like bitcoin and ether. The world's largest stablecoin is Tether, followed by USD Coin, which is issued by crypto provider Circle.

Joe Burrow is higher than Josh Allen,

No.  But Justin Herbert might be better than both of them this year.

I would be shocked if that was true and if you were a random person in the forum, the skeptical me would think that you are tricking us to pick Justin Herbert first over Joe Burrow and Josh Allen in our draft hehehehehee.

In any case, you might be right after the Chargers hired a new offensive coordinator and traded for some wide receivers who are said to like going deep on the field. There was also an interview with Herbert where he said that he would like to throw the ball deep more this year. This might also be one of the reasons not to put Ekeler very high in our rankings.

Another good news article for people who think that the government are creating laws to serve the people better and protect the consumers hehehe.

After you read the news, if your argument is that the government is only treating cryptocoins similar to the laws that they have created for cash, then it appears that because of this law, the government has been surveilling on everyone who has made a $10k cash transaction or more.

Time is running out for the crypto industry to fight a new law that will force US businesses to collect personal information on people who use digital assets worth more than $10,000 to buy stuff.

The new rules will snap into action on January 1, 2024.

Last year, crypto think-tank Coin Center sued the Treasury Department and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, which have been charged with implementing the regulation, arguing the new rules are tantamount to “unconstitutional financial surveillance.”

Curve Offers Hackers 10% Bounty in Exchange for Return of Crypto

Curve Finance and other victims of this week’s crypto lending heist have offered their hackers a 10% bounty in exchange for the return of the rest of their tokens.

"You will have no risk of us pursuing this further, no risk of law enforcement issues, etc," Curve, Metronome and Alchemix wrote in an on-chain message sent to a hacker's Ethereum address. The trio gave a deadline of August 6 at 0800 UTC, at which point their bounty will become a vigilante payout to whomever provides information that leads to the hacker's arrest and conviction.

https://twitter.com/curvefinance/status/1687180381714358272?

News update. It appears that the hacker did not return the stolen funds to Curve Finance.

Curve is offering a $1.85 million bounty to anyone who can accurately identify the DeFi protocol's exploiter in a way that leads to definitive legal repercussions.

"The deadline for the voluntary return of funds in the Curve exploit passed at 0800 UTC," Curve publicly wrote in an Ethereum transaction's input data, adding: "We now extend the bounty to the public, and offer a reward valued at 10% of remaining exploited funds (currently $1.85M USD) to the person who is able to identify the exploiter in a way that leads to a conviction in the courts."

However, he returned the funds of 2 DeFi protocols, Alchemix and Jpeg'd which he also sent a message telling eveyone that he was returning them because he was not scared, only returning them because he did not want to ruin the projects.

"I want to clarify that I'm refunding you not because you can find me, it's because I don't want to ruin your project," they explained in a transaction, adding: "Maybe it's a lot of money for a lot of people, but not for me, I'm smarter than all of you."

News update. This is really 4 day old news hehe.

However, it appears CZ did not only promote Kristen Hecht for her qualifications. She might have been promoted because of her connections within the American government. Kristen worked in the US department of treasury as a senior policy advisor from 2006 to 2014 under the Bush and the Obama administrations.

Binance has appointed Kristen Hecht as its new deputy chief compliance and global money laundering reporting officer, a new role to oversee both areas as the exchange grapples with potential fraud charges from U.S. regulators, the company announced Thursday. Several top legal and compliance executives have left the exchange in recent weeks, reportedly because of the strain of dealing with multiple investigations into its practices, although Binance denies this is the case.

Hecht is a familiar face at Binance, having previously served as the global head of corporate compliance at the exchange for the past eight months, after working as the chief compliance officer at Meta’s crypto wallet project, Novi Financial, for less than two years. Earlier in her career, Hecht was a senior policy advisor at the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

In her new role, Hecht will primarily work on the company’s compliance program while also engaging with regulators, intergovernmental organizations and industry bodies, according to a press release. She will be working closely with Noah Perlman, who is replacing Hecht as Chief Compliance Officer.

Why is America very much important for CZ and he is beginning to be so annoying for uncle Gary and the SEC?

For money, basically, and prestige. The GDP of the USA is $23.32B, while that of Belgium mentioned by Babygun is $0.6B. There is a big difference. Leaving the US and leaving Coinbase as number 1 there doesn't seem like an interesting move from a competitive standpoint either. Other than that I guess they will have a legal team looking at possible future actions, and the SEC has had a setback in court recently that you echoed.

It is always about the money; countries like Belgium or the Netherlands are so small and the market for crypto is pretty small also. A lot of people either don't know about crypto or think it is a scam. I also don't really know why the Belgium government is going after Binance but that's another discussion. Luckily I can still use Kraken without any problems and that has always been my nr 1 exchange.

You might be right. It is easier to give up in jurisdictions that they do not really need and fight for the jurisdictions where much of their profits come from hehehe. Also, once all of their legal battles are won in these important jurisdictions, CZ might also begin fighting to capture those less important jurisdictions back again hehe. There is an old tactic where a general should concentrate his men and armaments in the most important points to win the war.
1096  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It's on! 2024 US Presidential Election Biden+Harris Vs Trump Bitcoin betting.... on: August 05, 2023, 08:17:18 AM
If the Republican cannot find another alternative for Trump, I reckon they should wish the Democrats nominate Joe Biden as their presidential candidate hehehe. He might be easier to beat. Biden after 4 years has much political failures that any candidate from the Republicans can use to blame for the present situation in their country and economy.

In any case, the Democratic party presidential primaries is on August 2024. There is much time for Robert Kennedy to gather support for his campaign while the people witness more failures from the Biden administration. There are some people in this forum who consider Robert Kennedy a loser because of his low ratings today, however, he should not be underestimated.

Well.. I am not sure whether I can agree with you 100%.

Obviously Kennedy is more electable when compared to Biden. But then, the chances of Kennedy winning the Democrat nomination is near-zero. Other options such as Harris and Klobuchar are likely to lose against Trump by a bigger margin. Biden is always hailed as someone who is capable of attracting the moderate votes and it is claimed that his policies are more towards the center (although I disagree with that opinion). And from what I have seen in the recent opinion polls, Trump is leading the independent and moderate vote.

I very much disagree that Robert Kennedy's nomination is near zero. The Democtratic party's primaries is 1 year from today. There is enough time for RFK and his campaign team to work and get more supporters behind him. Joe Biden might also be helping him by just being sleepy Joe Biden hehehehe. The American economy is suffering because of Bidenomics. This is an example where putting your name with the word economics might not be a very good idea hehehe.

Team Diaz requested to add 2 rounds

This would aid them in better training if they have done the tough work to build more then just impact but fitness and durability I could see that deciding a match.  Anyone can sprint till they run out of breath, more then 10 rounds is a marathon compared to a quick knock out type scenario & the average hot shot will be near jelly by then.  I'd love to see a fight where quality of preparedness, defense, legwork wins for an underdog.

However, the fight might not need 10 rounds hehehe. It might end with a knockout and with older brother Nick carrying little brother Nate on a stretcher hehehe. The stretcher might also be provided by Jake Paul hater, Dana White hehehehe.

1098  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase CEO Says SEC Told It To Delist Everything But Bitcoin: Report on: August 05, 2023, 07:10:51 AM
Now you should start asking the most important question.... How invested are the decision makers and the government in Bitcoin, if they single it out like that? Surely all Crypto currencies are the same... it is only the token and some of the "parameters" that are different, but it is mostly driven on the same principle.  Roll Eyes

They are either invested in Bitcoin or they have plans for Bitcoin in the future.... just mark my words. The SEC is just the tool.... there are higher powers behind them, controlling them like a puppet.  Roll Eyes

The skeptical me would agree and it might be good to speculate on what cryptocoin these higher powers want to invest in next heheehe. I am quite certain we will also witness Blackrock, Fidelity and the other institutional investors do something similar to what Barry's Grayscale is doing where they will also have different altcoins included in their investment products hehe. I reckon if a spot ETF for Bitcoin is approved, next is a spot ETF for Ethereum.

Yes. I vote for no rule changes though Smiley

I am open to some discussion on small changes, but it is difficult to argue against someone who wants no rule changes. We never had a bad season since @DireWolfM14, @Hueristic, @nutildah and the others created this fantasy league.

However, the rule change on waivers, will it make it easier for not very good fantasy players like me? I would have to agree to that change if yes hehehehehe.

Why are you angrily forcing people to bet on Trump? No one in this thread knows anything better than what we read from the news and speculate what might really be happening. Also, the smart bettors would only place their bets after each of the political parties have declared their nominees. Trump presently with those odds is certainly not a very good bet considering that he is also being indicted with various cases.

I hate to say this, but I can't find another alternative to Donald Trump for the Republican nomination. As far as Democrat nomination is concerned, there is minimal resistance from Kennedy. But Trump is not facing any opposition so far within the GOP. Obviously Ron DeSantis announced his candidature with much hype and fanfare, but he sank without any trace. Others like Vivek Ramaswamy are polling 1-2% of the primary vote. One thing is sure. 2024 will be one of the shittiest ever presidential elections in the history of the United States.

If the Republican cannot find another alternative for Trump, I reckon they should wish the Democrats nominate Joe Biden as their presidential candidate hehehe. He might be easier to beat.
