1141  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it possible to get bitcoins for free? on: April 05, 2023, 04:04:03 PM
Okay so earlier I came across a site that claimed that it's possible to get bitcoins for free by just; playing offline and online games, watching ads and videos, participating in airdrops and so on. They also recommended apps that give out bitcoin for free  like coinbase. Bitcoin, ranked as one of the most expensive cypto currencies can be earned for free by just watching ads? Nah I just find it hard to believe cause I've seen a lot of scam related schemes that claim to give out bitcoin for free. I don't know, I might be wrong cause I'm still a newbie that's why I brought this here, to see if I can get some clarification on the matter. Thank you.
lots of sites and apps that offer bitcoins for free, by just playing games.
but I downloaded the application several times like it's mostly fraud.
I haven't tried much, but I have tried several times, all of them are just scams, none of them actually pay, so don't be fooled.
This happened in the early days of bitcoin when bitcoin was struggling to dominate. I do not think that it still happens now. It is altcoin new projects that does it in the form of airdrop where you will complete some tasks related to publicity and you will rewarded with coins. Some might be useful while many atimes the coins may not worth it.

Nothing is totally free. Instead of seeking where to get bitcoin for free, you should instead try and aquire bitcoin related skills such that you can earn from the skills.
1142  Other / Meta / Re: How to get away with posting off-topic replies. on: April 05, 2023, 03:54:41 PM
So, I've found a system that works 100% of the time if you want to post off-topic replies and not having them deleted (I exclude here the WO thread, where they are allowed).

The system is as follows:

1. Be a somewhat established member.
2. Post them on Reputation section threads.
3. Enjoy.

This is not true.
The moderators on their own do not tour the forum searching for off topic replies. Yes, they don't unless by coincidence they stumble on one.
It therefore means that people report such of topic posts and the reporters respect the somewhat established members and refuse to report their posts.
The reporters are delighted in reporting newbies and lower-ranked members posts who are also delighted in making low value posts.
But in all the forum is becoming more lenient to her members in terms of moderation.
1143  Other / Meta / Re: How to add your Bitcointalk profile to your homescreen on: April 05, 2023, 03:22:41 PM
.
I say i was expecting you to tell us the importance of having bitcointalk on our phones's home screen but you failed to do that.

There are important reasons why it is beneficial to add the bitcointalk icon to the homescrewn of your mobile phone or laptop;
  • One of the reasons is that it will enable people know that you are into bitcointalk and they will respect you in your environment.
  • Another reason is that seeing the icon on your mobile home screen will always remind you that you are a member of BTT. You know because of stress at work, you may forget that you belong here and make posts
  • Having the icon on your home screen will enable you check frequently if theymos has taken down the forum as he threatened
.
If you think that these reasons aren't enough you may go to court and sue the OP for making helpless post to you.

BTT is similar to other forums as no one cares who their members are, so how does this make one respectable in the environment? I'm curious, and I'd like to hear it.

I am sorry that you took my post literally without seeing the scarsm aspect of it. I was trying to justify the reason OP made the post in a jovial way hence there is no justifiable reason or neither is the subject matter important to the forum users.

Have theymos ever threatened to take the site down?

No, he hasn't. Just trying to make up reasons for OP and others who care to add BTT icon to their desktop or home screen.

Well, there's more to the forum than you thought, and theymos don't have absolute power to do whatever he wants; have you read about who owns the forum domain? It's an interesting read, but I'm too lazy to look for the link

No, theymos has absolute power and control of the bitcointalk.org domain. I read the thread were he started that there is from henceforth a distinction between bitcointalk.org and Bitcoin.org.
That is why here is called theymos forum.
1144  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Bitcoin miners in Nigeria on: April 04, 2023, 06:43:27 PM
I misread the OP as "Bitcoin mixers" in Nigeria.
Actually it is easier to have a Bitcoin mixer company than to mine Bitcoin in Nigeria. This is important now that chipmixer has paved way in the industry.
Talking about bitcoin mining in Nigeria, I believe we have discussed that in this board before where it was asked if the is a bitcoin mining pool in Nigeria?
If there's link to the thread it should be provided because it discussed it extensively.

1148  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: April 02, 2023, 08:11:19 PM
sad news:

Brendan Rodgers has been sacked by Leicester

Graham Potter sacked by Chelsea

source: https://www.instagram.com/fabriziorom/

I can say that Liecester is fair than Chelsea. They gave Rodgers time that he deserved. Liecester started underperforming right from the first day of the English Premier League till today. At some point it was as if he has understood what was happening and would correct the errors but he couldn't.
Although he had also been faced with some injury problems in his team but this wouldn't be an excuse.
For Graham Potter I think the sack has been expected by Chelsea fans for so long but it finally came. He is a good manager but was unfortunate in Chelsea.
1149  Economy / Economics / Re: Money as a store of value... on: April 02, 2023, 09:11:38 AM
Firstly what is the word store of value;store of value is something that maintain its worth both in the present and the future.Money is a type of assets in an economy that you can use to buy goods and services from other people or businesses. One of the functions of money in an economy is that it's serves as a store of value.
A store of value is something people use to transfer purchasing power from the present to the future.
While money is an asset that can store value, and also Gold and silver for example, acts as store of value.
Since money is accepted as a store of value, trade is much more efficient. When an individual or business accepts money in exchange for a goods and services, the seller can store the money in a bank account and retrieve it later in the future.
Obvious money stores value. I don't think anyone wants to argue on that. If money has not value there wouldn't been need to save money. Many people has fixed deposit account which is just like staking your coin for xyz duration of time. When the time reaches to withdraw money you will still see your money with its value.
However the purchasing power may likely reduce because of inflation that affects fiat system. This is the reason some people are longer saving in the bank
1150  Other / Meta / Re: How did you enjoyed the Captcha on: April 02, 2023, 08:53:15 AM
Where you afraid when you first noticed the red flag?

As far as the captcha thing goes, I wasn't in the mood for figuring out what Theymos was doing.  I only noticed that I could post normally without having to play Super Mario BCT, so that's what I did.  This year's fun & games could have been so much edgier given all that's happened since this time last year....but it wasn't.  Meh.
I had some kind of confusion in my head trying to understand what was happening. Since someone already made a thread a day before the 1st April, obviously it wasn't a surprise to me.
As I logged into my account, I started seeing the This user is a suspected spammer tag. I wasn't bothered because I knew it was about the joke. But when I wanted to make a post, I saw a pop up notification. I was shocked how ads have started running on bitcointalk like other websites. I figured out to reduce it and made my post without trying to complete the captcha. I didn't also know the game was because I felt it will be stressful to me since I visited the forum with mobile.
1151  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: April 01, 2023, 09:38:31 PM

If you are a Liverpool supporter, I hope you can forget this season as a good season about Liverpool.
I am very disappointed with the team's performance this season, too disappointing to say, and shameful. Despite all the problems the team is facing, I hope next season will be better than this season. YWNWA - I'm staying here.

You don't need to be disappointed at your club, which is Liverpool. Why I said so is because when you look at the situation of Chelsea you will you will even laugh out loud and be happy that you are a Liverpool fan. The problem that Liverpool is having is not peculiar to only them. This season some other big clubs across the globe are struggling to make it to the top level of their respective leagues, maybe from next season they will prepare and come back to their form.

Is this another April fool?

Well, this is a good news. Can you please spray me some merits to take me to Hero Rank. I don't care if this is the 1st day of April. My first time of entering meta today even after being scared that I am a suspected spammer.
There are alot of April related posts today, from meta board to service board and by tomorrow things may calm. Besides tomorrow could stick be April 1st in other countries due to time difference.
1153  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: March 30, 2023, 04:11:26 PM
Manchester City will play against the mighty Bayern Munich. Although Bayern Munich is a strong team, they have changed coaches in recent times. And the team's performance is likely to deteriorate slightly due to a change of coach before such an important match. So Manchester City is favorites against Munich.
Initially, I was nervously waiting for match day Manchester City vs Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals.
With Bayern Muchen's experience in the Champions League, I'm not sure Munich can beat Manchester City easily. Seeing that Man City also has a coach who is experienced in the Champions League, namely Pep Guardiola, is different from Munich coach Julien Nagelsman who still lacks experience in the Champions League compared to Pep.

But now that "old" feeling is gone, after Munich recruited Thomas Tuchel as their newest coach, Thomas Tuchel has proven in the Champions League with Chelsea in his first season and has also proven his HEAD TO HEAD against Manchester city (Pep Guardiola). My prediction is that Bayern Munich will win the match and advance to the semifinals.
Pep G. It will be difficult for him to face Bayern Munich, a team he managed for many years but was unable to win the Champions League for. He has given Manchester City everything they have ever needed, with the exception of the Champions League. It will be difficult for Pep because Tuchel was appointed by Bayern Munich, and his first Champions League match is against Pep. squad for Manchester City. Tuchel is another seasoned coach; two years ago, he led a faltering Chelsea team to the championship. He wants to do it once more, but in order to move on, he must defeat Pep. In the competition, this game is a must-win. I don't think Bayern Munich will defeat Manchester City, hence Manchester City will move on to the next round.
Bayern Munich has been a very strong team in the German Bundesliga. And also generally in the Champions League. It is a team that eliminated PSG recently in the Champions League.

People have believed their capacity and the ability to produce very quality players that are very ready to dismantle any football club. but my recent surprise is the hype that came in immediately former Chelsea coach Thomas was announced as Bayern Munich coach. I did not see the presence of a new coach to change anything in the match between Manchester City and Bayern Munich. I have already seen that much that Manchester City will be able to eliminate Bayern Munich this time around at the presence of Tuchel will not change it
1154  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: March 30, 2023, 03:54:19 PM
Liverpool is not an easy opponent but Manchester City must get full points in the match later to keep the points gap with Arsenal if you want to be part of the hunt for the EPL league championship, I think many are waiting for this match because of course the bets with pretty good odds and I bet on manchester city because I'm sure the city will get their win because they play as the host and are watched by many of their supporters.

The current quotes for this game are as follows:

1.60 - 4.20 - 5.50

City is overrated. 1.60 against Liverpool is just ridiculous even if Liverpool have a bad season and whatever. It seems to me that not the last reason for such quotes is that everyone basically thinks that the rivalry between Arsenal and City should continue, but many thought that in Serie A after the World Cup, competitors would start catching up with Napoli, but everything happened exactly the opposite. Why shouldn't we see a similar picture in the Premier League?
There is one thing that always happens whenever Liverpool and Manchester City are to face each other in the English Premier League.
That thing that happens is that people always forget the head-to-head between the two clubs.
Whenever there is match between these two giants. I always do not forget the head-to-head record. If you are looking at the current form Liverpool is not in any way a match to Manchester City, but we will all understand that every match between Liverpool and Manchester City is always a problem for Manchester City.

If I am not wrong, the recent meetings between these two clubs has been in the favour of Liverpool and this time around Liverpool is striving to enter the top four of the English Premier League, and I wouldn't think that they will miss three points in this match.
Their worst results should be that they will go home with just one point.
1155  Economy / Economics / Re: Binance CZ sued on: March 30, 2023, 03:40:57 PM
Binance CEO Zhao and his COO got sued by CTFC ( commodity futures and trading commission ) , why won't these people just leave this man alone?  Angry also is this why the market is currently crashing? These people mean CZ and I hope this guy will move out of the US for good, those people are just still mad with what he did with FTX, many secrets came to the light and many aren't too happy about it.

   -  It's possible for cz to solve that, that's how you know you're strong in the cryptocurrency market. He was only made an issue in binance US, but not in other countries where there is an established binance. Those who make FUD in binance are just like that.

If we notice that the fud that they did in binance was not affected much, didn't the value of Bitcoin in the market immediately recover. And I think it looks like it will reach 30k$ each until April 2023.

I don't even want to bring this up, but the fact that Binance is not affecting the price of BTC likely means
1: They dont hold 1:1 BTC reserves
2: They are freezing withdrawals of BTC
3: They deal more shitcoins than BTC

Either way it doesn't look like they have much respect for censorship resistant money.

1. Is likely going to be true but Cz is not gonna admit it
2. I don't believe point this, Binance is not freezing and neither are they restricting BTC withdrawal.
3. This is obviously true and I most times question their process of listing shitcoins in their platform.
The market will not be fine with binance monopoly
1156  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if Bitcoin Was the Only Cryptocurrency? on: March 30, 2023, 03:21:49 PM
ChatGPT didn't tell you that if bitcoin was the only cryptocurrency, it might have ended before now. This is because the eyes of the government would be there, the eyes of the ordinary people will be there, the eyes of big project owners like the owner of Ethereum and even CZ would be there. There would be much manipulations which would have made regulation need to become intensive and then there will be much centralization which would give the government access to bitcoin.
The real point is that alternative cryptocurrencies have made much eyes not to be on bitcoin and greedy fellows would rather want to create their own coins instead of struggling with bitcoin.

Live support
How many staff will you hire for live support and how much are you gonna pay them? If we have a live support here will no longer be called a forum, but maybe an e-commerce website. That question you want to ask like support, there are millions of users ready to answer you when you create a topic with it.

It doesn't concern the community if you registered with your real name, fake email or whatever. It is no body's business. Here is not a company and no KYC needed.

You can be able to know if a user is online by checking their profile and you will also be able to know the total people online at a particular time.
1158  Other / Meta / Re: I bought a yacht thanks to bitcoin. on: March 29, 2023, 03:05:45 PM
I'm not saying that all stories like this are made up, but it seems to me that somehow between the congratulatory comments and the merits, it encourages people to make up these stories.

Thoughts?
More than 80% of all these bitcoin achievements and break through are made up stories. There are no proves and at best what you will see as a prove is a picture which can be taken by anyone at any place.
I saw a similar thread about fish farm I cannot find the link now and the farm doesn't even look like a new one.
Tbh, a real achiever wouldn't want to share their testimonies here.
But people will continue to congratulate such posts no matter how often they appear because they have post to complete in a week.
1159  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Political problems in nigeria... on: March 29, 2023, 02:39:04 PM
Op, Nigerians have a local board. It will be fine if you discuss important things about Nigeria in the Nigerian board. I am sick and tired of reading all negative things about Nigeria in the bitcointalk. What exactly will this post achieve for you here?
Are the Nigerian leaders here in bitcointalk? I am not in anyway supporting bad leadership and their is no ideal country.
Let us limit the way we paint Nigeria black always or in some situations balance it with the good part of Nigeria too.
1160  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My Welcome Message :) on: March 29, 2023, 02:26:35 PM

I have been visiting BitcoinTalk for more than a year after a friend recommended it to me.

I didn’t know people still hang around for so long before creating an account. I would like to welcome to the forum as a member.

I believe people who still lurk around bitcointalk without registering doesn't really visit here on almost daily basis as we do. They may visit once, and get as information as they wish to get and that will be all for this month. Next month they may visit once or twice.
Then if you are really engaged in the physical world with work and other things, I think you would be carried away and there is also a room for procrastination and more.

Jay welcome to the forum and be a good user of the forum. Please all that was given you to read.
