1721  Other / Meta / Re: Should rules on plagiarism be changed and updated? on: July 05, 2022, 09:28:53 PM
I grew up in this forum with fear of plagiarism because I knew that it's punishment is pamban, and I wouldn't want anything that could make my account banned or red tagged. That is why I have to be very true to myself and the forum.
I first saw this kind of thread when lovesmayfamilis opened it and I read and understood many things from the thread.

What I understand is that moderators are being more lenient in treating plagiarism rules than before. It could be that they understand that the banned accounts still return to the forum.

When they say about handing plagiarism case by case, it means that if a moderator is in bad mood, he can ban you outrightly, while another moderator whose wife put to bed will delete the post and forgive the plagarist. It means there is no rule then.
1722  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria (Naija) on: July 05, 2022, 09:14:56 PM
But nobody yet knows what the price of bitcoin can plummet to, but buying now would be profitable after next halving because it is possible that bitcoin may hit over $100000. But there is nothing bad to use DCA (dollar cost average) in buying bitcoin. There is nothing much in DCA than just to use certain amount like $100 weekly or monthly to buying bitcoin but depending on the amount you budget for the buying. So if bitcoin price go further down, just that not all amount in fiat you invested at ones and this can maximize your profit.
No way Bitcoin will hit $100k after the next halving in 2024 after what's looking like the second wose bear market? Bitcoin price has never drop below it previous ATH before but it broke that record this time, meaning the impossible is happening, the whale are manipulating the market to keep stacking before the next bitcoin halving.
Bitcoin has never dropped below its previous ATH, it is strange this time around and it therefore mean it's possible to break double ATH and get to $100k. Remember bear is like a catapult pulling back, the farther it pulls backwards the longer the bullet it will release.
The idea of DCA is the best for now and ensure you are not putting in money you will need in the next few months. The bear could be longer.

Quote
BTW El Salvador is not taking the shit, they they stacking bitcoin at every 2-digit drop in price.
I praise El Salvador president, even if majority of his citizens do not support his financial and bitcoin judgment. He is far much better than our own politicians that steals from us and invest in Dubai.
1723  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: July 03, 2022, 09:06:31 PM
By the way Chelsea's interest in Neymar would cost them a lot of money at the same time. Maybe they wouldn't see his transfer fee like a problem but Neymar's current wage might be a problem for them. He is earning 40m pounds per year and he might not be likely to accept a big pay cut as well.
Will Chelsea be able to sign both between Ronaldo and Neymar?
It is believed that Chelsea are ready to sign Ronaldo from Man United and this has been the talk of Jorge Mendes' agent, but if both of them were signed with Neymar, this would certainly be difficult for Chelsea's finances, even though I know now Chelsea is not in a financial crisis but Neymar's current salary is really big. And I also assume with you that if Neymar moves to Chelsea the wages will still be high as well.
Chelsea will end up not signing both Neymar and Ronaldo. The case of Neymar is extreme as his salary will be high for Chelsea and there is no guarantee that he will give Chelsea what they need. Then Ronaldo going to a rival club is what I don't understand. I will be happy if he can come to Chelsea, but I have never imaged Ronaldo is Chelsea shirt....lolx it's not gonna fit him at all. But in football anything is possible. Let us watch how the drama is playing out and I know it will get more interesting.
1724  Economy / Reputation / Re: What happens if someone mistakenly tags you a negative trust and dies? on: July 03, 2022, 04:09:45 PM
The trust works like something that is absolutely and uninterferable but it should have some short comings. I have had the question that if a DT gives negative tag purposely to an innocent member, what will be the punishment of the DT member?
Would he be tagged or removed from the DT. I have read where thyemos retrieved merits giving to someone, therefore he could also remove a negative tag. But I know he will not do that since it's related to trust.

As suggested by others there should be a thread called Feeback Appeal, so that of anyone feels that he is given wrong feedback, he could protest there with reference and other DT members will decide on the matter.
1725  Economy / Reputation / Re: [FUN] Is DdmrDdmr even human? on: July 03, 2022, 03:51:28 PM
Another DdmrDdmr's merit wave distribution, I'm surprised if he merited my old posts and I got another 5 merit from him Cheesy
I remember back months ago where I will get merited by DdmrDdmr in a particular post like 1 or 2 merits and later on he will add to the merits again. These days I hardly encounter DdmrDdmr post or feel his merit on my profile. Could it be that he changed or I am the person that changed?

It could be that he pays more attention to full members - newbies more than Snr member and above rank.
1726  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: July 02, 2022, 10:23:09 PM
It is no more a rumour about Ronaldo to leave as it seems. Because I think that Fabrizio Romano is one of the most trustworthy sources on internet. I'm curious what made him make this choice especially. It is said that he doesn't see any ambition in this team but they are just starting with Erik ten Hag. Maybe he doesn't want to be a part of the Europa League rather than the Champions League now. Roma have been interested in him but they aren't in a much different situation also.
Ronaldo already has a career that is well spent. He has achieved everything and I believe there is nothing again that he will need to achieve in football apart from lifting the world Cup. So if I were him I would be loyal to Manchester United fans at this bad time. He will be their legend and role model in the pitch, this will pay high more rather than jumping to another club. Apart from my natural love to the blues, as also a lover of Manchester united, I might not be able to watch Ronaldo anymore if he leave Manchester United for another club.

Let me just still believe it is a rumor and I will treat it like a rumour till I am proven wrong or otherwise.

Mark my words, before 2030, law makers go try to pass bill wey go make political offices become inheritance, so that if them thief finish, their children go continue.

God forbid o, dis wan go dy among d worst tin wey go happen for dis country. Even as dem dey do am underground we dey see am dey manage am, make dem no pass am into law because e go worst pass lyk dis now. We no dy practice monarchy as a nation ahbeg.
God forbid my brother, but make we wake up collect this country back, this country no be our own. Those men own the country and they don divide am finish and even know when it's whose turn to be president. As Atiku dey, him don finalise plans to sell NNPC, but many people no know shaa...

You think say you dey practice democracy bah?
You don see democracy wey permit just 700+ or 2000+ people called delegates to chose who go be your president for you? This Atiku and Tinubu we dey talk, you think say them be people's choice? They are just products of dollar.
1728  Other / Meta / Re: Can we have an undo button for comment and post editor? on: July 02, 2022, 10:06:44 PM
Just had a brain fart, selected all text and deleted it by mistake — realized undo button could be useful in such situations.
If you ever click on Preview or Post it, it will be saved in your draft page. You can summon it from draft if it belongs to your last 100 posts.

Drafts announcement topic.

Direct link https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=drafts

What happened to OP has been my case for quite a couple of times. I tried to find solution but I couldn't at the mean time, the only solution I found was to be careful and ensure that before I highlight or edit text, I will deliberately preview it to make sure it has entered into the draft bin. By this, any other edits I want to make on the post, I will be sure a copy of it is saved in the draft. That's the hack I work with...lolx.

I also understand on a serious note that theymos is very much unwilling to add anything to this old software of the forum. So, you could suggest it on the new software sub board
1729  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did Bitcoin Disappointed You ? on: July 02, 2022, 08:32:31 PM
More likely no than yes. It should be understood that this situation was quite expected, and many analysts warned about such an outcome. So let's see the result.

If bitcoin continue to go up and up, it will reach to a point that it can't be feasible to purchase bitcoin anymore. That is why if it goes up, it will surely return and then go up again and it will continue that way. Many analysts have warned about this period we are and many of us know that such a day will come, but we end up praying that it should not come soon but it will surely come.
I can say that bitcoin didn't disappoint me yet, I am waiting for it to be able to break a new ATH, if not that is when I will be disappointed by bitcoin. But I am pretty sure that bitcoin will bull again.
1730  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How merits spread started? on: July 02, 2022, 07:17:41 AM
You have to differentiate between:

  • The forum and Bitcoin, they are completely different.
  • The forum and people like Satoshi Nakamoto and Martti Malmi ended their link more than 10 years ago.

Merit system was established in the year 2018 to solve the problem of increasing spam, which is numbers that are updated within the database and therefore have no value. Theymos can create or delete millions of these points because they only represent an update to the database in the forum
It's fine you noted to OP that there is a difference between bitcoin and bitcointalk. I have seen in many occasions where newbies confuse the too. Most times they question how bitcoin works in Bitcointalk which normal, but when they start questioning how bitcointalk works in relation to bitcoin, you will understand that there is a mixup somewhere.

I was not here when they said there was too much spam, but with what I witness now, I can only imagine how bad it was then. Moderators would have seen alot. ThankGod for implementation of the merit system.
1731  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria (Naija) on: July 02, 2022, 07:04:18 AM
As e be say our election don the fast approach like this, we need prepare, I no go Dey wrong to say this na the most social media and physically active election Nigeria go get. People are slowly waking up, but the road still Dey far and we go need double up on our energy. The right man no matter the tribe and religion na Wetin we need for the country, so out your pvc to good use e fit be the next president go adopt crypto-currency fully for Nigeria.

2023 election dey carry different pressure and tempo come. I believe say more intensity go rise. The youths don prepare for the election. No matter how e be, the magomago people still dey Apc and pdp, I mean Atiku and Asiwaju. These men sabi rig and buy votes, even as youths dey ginger, we still need some politicians to decamp to Laboir Party, people who go follow compete with the politicians for rigging level, then we go do the remaining waka for leg.

Make we no relax, make una dey sensitize una old parents about the symbol of Labour Party wey be 3 people head because they are used to umbrella and broom.
1732  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Class in my Village High School on: June 30, 2022, 11:14:15 PM

By the way, great job. I think that is not possible in other countries where school classes have tight schedules/agendas, subjects that must be lectured and everything is timed so that the annual agenda is fullfiled and the school program is completed by the end of the schoolar year. Also, the schools principals/directors probably wouldn't agree with such initiative because I think such initiative would have to be approved by governemnts, pass the filter of regulations, etc, etc, etc, if you know what I mean!
You are absolutely right. The academic standards or norms differ from country to country. In some other countries, there will never be free time for a lecture like this and the government or concerned authorities censor whatever information that they want the students to have. While in some other countries, there might not be much attention to what is taught the students, and this will say the level of development of the country or state.

2. Please I am really sorry. The forum is anonymous so it's users are also anonymous. But the country is from Africa.
That is not the concept of being anonymous and also it is not compulsory to be anonymous. Check my profile you will see my country and age, it's a matter of choice. Many members of this forum belong to different local boards which says their country and it doesn't mean that they are no longer anonymous. I think the famous bitcoin pizza man even gave out his address or something close to that.
1733  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria (Naija) on: June 30, 2022, 10:59:23 PM
Other countries don dey get CBDC, so e go beta make we follow put body at once, who knows wetin e go turn tomorrow.
I like the way you dey think guy, i like your perspective. The thing wey dey vex most persons including me na the large amount of money them talk say dem spend take launch the project (you know how corruption dey be) and also the fact say the thing cun get wrong timing as per say na just after our government start to put eye for crypto matter nai dem go voltage CBDC come board.
Thank you senior man for the kind talk.
For our government and their looting, I surprise say e still dey shock una. Nothing those men do dey surprise me again. How many you wan count? You don forget how much individuals donate for Covid-19 and the international bodies. Hafa, Las Las the governors hoard food for warehouse why many people dey die for hunger. If you think say government mean well for you, you dey joke with yourself. Wetin dem dey do na to make you poor and submissive to them for ever. Mark my words, before 2030, law makers go try to pass bill wey go make political offices become inheritance, so that if them thief finish, their children go continue.

As for election, be careful with the opinions of your religious leaders, vote for the candidate of your choice and don't let them influence you, some of them are selecting the candidates good for them and you will be wrong not to consider your own opinions.

Plenty men of God don cast, people wey God call no plenty. Majority of these men wey you see dey worship wetin dem no know. If them sleep, their ancestors go wisper for their ear, when dem wake up dey say God tell them. No worry, by 2025 and above, you go dey hear say men drag pastors commot for pulpit and beat them.
1734  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria (Naija) on: June 30, 2022, 09:57:58 PM
Me shaa no still see problem with enaira o, na welcome development e be. Other countries don dey get CBDC, so e go beta make we follow put body at once, who knows wetin e go turn tomorrow. Na this feeling of inferiority say we no reach na wetin make oyibo dey ahead of us for everywhere. Make Nigeria join the bandwagon, if e good we take, if e no good we clean mouth comot joor.
Mind you that CBDC's aren't a sort of investment, so i really do not understand what you mean by "who knows wetin e go turn tomorrow", like it is going to change form or something, it is still going to be a digital fiat currency 'tomorrow' or any other time for that matter, and that is it, it will still function like the naira, centralized, controlled, created by the CBN, just that it is digital, so what do you want us to expect from it 'tomorrow'. There is no such inferiority complex bro, we are just being factual here, we are developing, that is if we haven't slipped down the ladder to underdeveloped, and we are behind first world countries, it is what it is, and you have to accept that. Maybe if we had used our resources the proper way, and concentrated on more productive things than CBDC's, we prolly won't be this far behind.
Nigeria don dey in bash since we begin see the country, no be e-naira put Nigeria for mess and no be e-naira go commot Nigeria for mess. I agree say e-naira no be any kind of investment wey go yield money for future, but we no go fit predict how the future go be. Somewhere two years ago, me and you been dey fear to collect money for hand because of Covid-19. Some people sef dey wear gloves to collect money. What if something similar to that happen for future and other countries go dey use their digital money, then Nigeria go sit-down dey watch?
For so much sey e-naira no go better Nigeria economy, me sef no dey against the idea. Anything wey be digital, make we join body like that follow, na there the road dey. E no matter whether plenty people use am or not, but anytime the need arise we go use am go our way.
1735  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria (Naija) on: June 29, 2022, 10:49:20 PM
Actually speaking I agree with this very statement of yours, because frankly speaking, I am sure CBN can't boast of having 10% Nigerians using the so called eNaira our Federal government wasted so much money launching last year, when we have got more pressing issues affecting the country e.g banditary, terrorism poverty and e.t.c.. Because for me, I just pray that the next person who will emmerge as the next president of Nigeria should be someone who has the country at heart and knows the right thing to do at all times
Exactly, to be honest i do not see any benefit of CBDC's to an underdeveloped or developing country, it is just like creating a 'second' fiat currency, and that is not productive at all. First world countries have less problems than us, at least economically and politically, so in their case i can understand why they would want to be part of the CBDC bandwagon. Well, i have known Nigeria to be a country that places importance on less crucial issues, leaving more pressing matters that ought to be attended to, and that is the scenario yet again. Our matter resemble man wey him house they burn, him begin to dey chase rat up and down; no be 'juju' be that.

But my major problem be say make dem no make am compulsory which I know dem no go fit. Make dem make am optional but dem fit put incentives for person wey use enaira, from there the adoption go expand dey go.
1736  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Taking Loans - Is it ideal? on: June 29, 2022, 02:55:11 PM
If you can borrow money to start a business, you can borrow money to invest in bitcoin. Why did I say so, it is obvious bitcoin will give you the profit that you desire. Then the point to note will be the conditions behind the loan. How long and what is the interest rate. The profit that bitcoin may give you in 3 to 4yrs time, will it be able to cover for the interest of the loan and then you still have enough after you subtract your capital. If it doesn't worth it please don't do it.

Also remember the trauma that you will have to face waiting for bitcoin to rise. You will keep checking your portfolio for years and not have rest of mind. If you are able to bear this, you can borrow abs invest
1737  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: June 29, 2022, 01:05:58 PM
Manchester United are moving in to sign Tyrell Malacia, looks like united ar desperate to sign him as they have hijacked the deal between Feyenoord and Lyon. United are keen with the left back agent verbal agreement and personal Terms. Let's hope Tyrell agent accept their proposal and get the deal done ASAP. Erik Ten Hag will look forward to make his first signing this summer if he lands Tyrell to the club. Total of €15m plus add-ons €2m will emerge in the next few hours.
Erik should go for Malacia, it will be a good signing. I have watched the guy on YouTube, it doesn't matter if he isn't a world class player right now, provided that he is young and willing to play. What Manchester United needs is to get ride of the lazy players around the club and get football hungry players to come and play good football.
It was worse last season, good football Manchester United couldn't play, win a match, no head way. I pray all should be history and remain in history. I don't wish to lament in this new season we want to begin

1740  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ignore the dip and Invest in Bitcoin for long term on: June 26, 2022, 11:54:31 AM
Great advice but not everyone can ignore the dip. Especially newbies. Not everyone can invest for the long term. Some folks actually have a short - medium term investment goal in mind. And when the market doesn't go as they had planned they pull out irrespective of whether there's a dip or not. I recently spoke to a friend who did this. She pull what's left of her investment out. She said half a loaf is better than none. The summary is simple - just like someone said do not invest what you cannot afford to hodl.

The advice in OP is so great and understandable, even though he superimposed bitcoin and Ethereum in a particular topic, his points are still understandable.
The issue of not ignoring your portfolio is not only for newbies. Old investors will also not ignore their portfolio when they invest more than what they can lose.
So it is when someone don't have investment plans that they keep their mind in their portfolio when the market is going wrong. I started in this cryptocurrency with trading and immediately I enter a particular trade my mind won't be at rest, so I had to stop trading because of my wellbeing.
