1161  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would you use a VPN on a casino, even if it is not allowed in their ToS? on: June 05, 2023, 01:08:25 AM
By the way, is a VPN always demonstrable? Would it also be possible to use a VPN without a gambling site finding out? For example, I know at Cyberghost that you can buy your own IP address, so that means that you are the only one who can use an IP address and that it has not been used by anyone else from Cyberghost's customer base. But a VPN is of course in a certain range, so it is suspicious and some sites will do anything to avoid having to pay.

If the IP is fixed, then the papers one is supposed to provide to the casino through the KYC process may need to match those issued in the location, I think?
For example, I could be a citizen from Australia living in Australia but for some reason wanted to access to a casino in disguise of me living in Europe. If the casino staff does not allow VPN or dynamic IP addresses and grow suspect of me, then they may not only request for identity documents but also for further proof of residence or bank statements.
Yup. It's pretty easy to identify where the IP location is (and VPNs usually bade your connections after all to where you want to connect from) so it's pretty easy to match. Even outside of that, comparing IPs used can be a flag as well if done so.

Even if it was Dynamic IP (which is what ISPs usually give out) it's still tied to a country. Who knows, there might also be some system that stores the og ip registration and if it was changed, compares then if country registered is different, flags the account (or maybe the IP itself).
1162  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Failed DCA Strategy When Buying Bitcoin on: June 04, 2023, 10:01:40 PM
The owner of this address bought a million dollars worth of Bitcoin every day from August 11, 2021 to January 1, 2023.

Approximately $460 million was spent buying Bitcoin, resulting in a loss of over $239 million. Perhaps this investor did not know that the DCA strategy is better to use for a longer period, or perhaps he found a more profitable investment.
Ehh Idk, man DCA'd for 1 1/2 year, I don't think he'd be dumb enough to sell it all at once at a loss that big. He probably separated it into different wallets or something similar to that, or maybe just a new strategy he's trying out. Definitely don't think he sold it though. Plus with the amount of money he has, I don't think a financial advisor would be that hard to get and they should know about the cycles of the Bitcoin market, even if it was simply basing it off of history.

That, or some kind of emergency took place that needed this amount of money but what could possibly need that much?
1163  Economy / Economics / Re: What is your personal debt reduction method aside the debt snowball method? on: June 04, 2023, 11:44:02 AM
For those who have gotten out of debt more quickly, did you use the debt snowball method or another personal debt payment strategy that worked for you over the years?
I didn't use any method (or maybe I did, I just don't really know the name), but I just tended to avoid incurring any debts as much as possible when I'm under one. Of the ones I'm in, I try to pay the one with the biggest interest rate first then slowly whittle it down from there. I never try to reduce the payments I pull out from my wages, It's always the same regardless of how many debts I have so that I can pay it a lot quicker, making me pay less in the long run. I frown upon trying to take debts under me, regardless of how beneficial they can be for me for now. It just doesn't sit well with me imo. Well things might change in the long run depending on how much I learn more about stuff like this, but for now? Big no no.
1164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to Know the Next PEPE on: June 03, 2023, 11:54:44 PM
In 2021 i wrote an article on medium and created a YT tutorial on how to spot a memecoin project that will become something.
From that teaching, here are the two key factors to look out for.

1. Community:

It is community that gives speculative value to memecoin. So, the bigger and the cult-like a community is the better. It shows alot of the community will buy and create hype for the project.

2. Strategic Partnerships:

How is associated with the memecoin? If it's a notable influencer like Elon Musk, it'll moon.

Therefore in researching the next memecoin project to degen in, these factors should be your priority.

What other factors do you think influence memecoin projects?
To be fair, you actually don't. A lot of the boomed meme coins were artificially inflated, possibly together with some whales or a group taking action and trying to sway the market. At least, initially anyway. The wave that followed was simply because of people's FOMO and by then, the group that started it would basically profit no matter what. A community doesn't necessarily have one of those people, who bootstart the process. Having a big community (not too big) can help though in someone trying to identify if they should do something like that again or not.

Though without any future telling abilities, if you were to decide to invest in a meme coin, look at it's popularity, simple as that. The amount of articles, clicks attention, and whatnot. A meme coin booming would naturally make the news across all platforms since, well, it's a memecoin. That boomed.
1165  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should I Keep Buying Bitcoin Alone if I Have Limited Resources? on: June 03, 2023, 04:23:06 PM
Wouldn't they have something more to say to people than, "just buy BTC?".  What would they tell people should be the criteria for their investments?  What coins do you think these early crypto investors are investing in currently as a compliment to BTC & ETH, that they believe will help newer investors meet their present day goals?
Well the question is related to BTC, such as "Should they buy BTC" after all, so I reckon the answer of just buy it is actually more than enough of an answer. After all, considering the positions of early investors, I don't think they've made a loss if they've continued hodling till now. Criteria for choosing another "Bitcoin" though? Kinda hard to give since it's been a decade and Bitcoin's still the king. The rest of the coins that were released are either shitcoins, or Bitcoin but with caveats (as well as its own advantages, but caveats still are above it imo). If it was just choosing another coin, well that depends now on how well us as investors can actually understand what they want to do and what their plans are.

I believe helping new investors achieve what they want is close to nill, at least in the short term. A lot of money is lost in the process of learning to invest, and I highly doubt they'd stay after losing a few thousands of bucks. If they stay though, that just means they're prepared to lose more, not necessarily achieving their goals immediately.
1166  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: He Committed Suicide After Losing School fees, And That Of Friend To Betting.. on: June 03, 2023, 03:29:14 PM
We are in the 21st century, until when before people realize that suicide does not put an end to problem, but rather create more for those living??
Well it puts an end to his problem, and not to sound cold or anything, but the dead don't particularly give a damn about the living. Dumb decision-making results in dumb results sadly enough. While I do pity the family, I don't think I have any for the kid himself. The result was caused by his own greed, not even hesitating in trying to include his friend in the case. He couldn't, or rather didn't dare face the consequences of his own actions.

While I think 22 is still young, it's at that age when you start thinking for yourself, and responsibilities and whatnot should slowly be placed on your shoulders, or at least, the significance of it. And considering all things, with how his parents seem to be quite kind, I doubt a scolding from them would be the end of the world, but hey, as I said, he's 22, pretty young.
1167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Gaming Stats and other Data on: June 03, 2023, 05:20:40 AM
How do you check Gaming Statistics on a crypto gaming project?

Mostly interested in:
Average monthly users
Yearly / Monthly revenue
weekly / monthly growth
rate of adoption

I remember seeing these figures and more for Axie Infinity when Axie was the number 1 P2E game in the crypto space, so now that we are at the bottom
I need this info to see if I could invest in the newer gaming projects such as:
~
Most (if not all) of the stats you need/want are actually generated/summarized by the community themselves via (afaik) API's released by the devs or something similar to that. This should be the case for monthly users or stuff related to that. For the game's specific coin usage, adoption, growth, etc., I believe sites where the coin of the game is registered such as Coingecko or coinmarketcap should be enough as sources. Just, gotta stretch some of that muscle to summarize it all. If they were relatively new though then their coin might not even be registered at all, so you just have to wait for those instances.

If you're THAT lazy, then hire someone who knows how to use the chatgpt plugins so the AI itself can access live public data, and return to you a summarized version of it.
1168  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: $90,000 all in bet on: June 02, 2023, 11:39:46 PM
UPDATE: A MISSED PENALTY AND A LOSS. BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD.
Hey, at least it was a thrill... I hope. Well, it is money that was earned from gambling so ehhh, I'd consider nothing was lost really. Turning $4k into $90k is quite a feat though, seeing as you bet all in in one match I'm rather curious if you did the same from the initial to 90k, or just slowly built it up and decided to go yolo for once after all that careful betting (which can be rather boring). Don't lose hope though! I reckon you aren't though, since the vibe of the update seems like you're still gonna come back to gambling lmao. Good luck to OP again~

I think that you have made a big mistake here...you could have easily taken a break and done something good with the money instead of putting it all on a losing gamble.
Ehh his money his rules. Ofc if this was money deposited, I wouldn't be here rambling about this. BUT, it was money won, technically nothing was originally his(except for the initial $4k).
1169  Economy / Speculation / Re: What are your bitcoin May/June price analysis? on: June 02, 2023, 01:57:25 PM
Ehh, I don't really think we'd be getting anything big for the next 1-2 months. At most, we'd probably go to $30k then just go the usual steady stuff that we have right now, maybe dipping back to 28, 29k every now and then. At least just based on any significant news that I know of, there's nothing that particularly concerns the crypto market, or nothing that would affect it on a big scale. Might be more active in maybe in the latter end of the year? Hopefully not in a negative way.
1170  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would you use a VPN on a casino, even if it is not allowed in their ToS? on: June 02, 2023, 12:21:04 AM
I know this is a bit controversial, but some casinos are looking the other way... when people are using VPNs. I know it might be legal in some instances, but you are still taking a risk by using it.

Online gambling is legal in my country, but sometimes I have to travel to a country where it is illegal. I then use a VPN to be able to access the site. This is one of the reasons why some casinos allow people to use VPNs..... but you are still taking a huge risk.

Now, the question is.... Will you still use a VPN, if it is not allowed by the ToS on the site. What will you do if they "block" your account and take your balance?
Uhm no? Why would I force myself to play when there's other possible options I can play on? If there wasn't, well as much as I say gambling is for enjoyment it does involve money so nah, I'm fine with not playing. If it were for free though, like what I do to access some specific beta test of some games, then hell yea I'd do it.

Imo it isn't really controversial, it's just kind ass how some casinos change their ToS to suddenly rejecting VPN, or somehow flagging you for multi accounting, which can happen due to how VPN works afaik when in the first place THEY should know how VPN works. Well that is if VPN is allowed in the first place. If it wasn't, then yea I really don't think I would or even risk it.
1171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to draw the attention of the market if you're a good project?? on: June 01, 2023, 02:44:36 PM
We're proudly to announce that we're officially looking for early contributors to our project.

We've spent almost a year just to design the super economic ecosystem of FireDAO. And now it's finally floating to the surface and ready to show the world what is FireDAO.

As a new project, we're sincerely looking for advice from Bitcointalk Forum community. What is the key of point that you're looking in a project and let us know how to improve better as well.

Please read more information about our project in the link below. Looking forward for more interaction here.  Wink
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5441307.msg62316116#msg62316116
Well... What you're doing is a good start for one. Asking for advice from your users (or even strangers really) isn't really going to hurt you, you just got to filter out proper advice from, well, dumb ones. It at least opens up your project as community friendly and pretty open as well. Other than that, well, it should depend on what your project aims to actually be since improvements will come from understanding what it wants, and where it is right now.

Priority for now might be to complete your team first then do some internal review. I highly doubt investors would come if the team itself isn't exactly developed/complete, regardless of how minor some of the other roles could possibly be.
1172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do we just invest in any altcoin? on: June 01, 2023, 06:43:59 AM
Now my question is, do we just invest an altcoin to take advantage of the opportunity to make some x in return?
Because I know altcoin rarely survive the dip maybe after bull run.

I mean, you can. Most altcoins are short lived anyway, you're better off trying to profit off of them at a say a month or two max, anything longer would just give diminishing returns, well at least for most coins, but hey if they really were good, it wouldn't be too late to invest on it again after at least guaranteeing that you've profited.

I definitely would avoid investing in altcoins for the long term though. I'd only ever know if it was a good investment for one in the future, and judging by the number of new altcoins, I wouldn't really take my chances.
1173  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 5 Behavioural signs that suggest you are Addicted to Gambling on: May 31, 2023, 10:55:53 PM
As gambling addiction can be a challenging issue that can have a very harmful impact on an individual's life. it is always recommended to find a professional helpb rather struggling with it. Do you agree with those behaviours? If not then you can suggest some, that can be added to this topic.
It's actually pretty easy to notice if someone's going past the limits or is being addicted, some simple stuff that you'd often do as a kid, like asking nonchalantly for money, being impulsive, lying, stuff like that. It's like your attitude turns into a brat once a certain activity, in this case gambling comes up. I basically told myself when making decisions to grow up so as to avoid doing dumb stuff.

The simple idea of only depositing once per session, with a fixed amount every time should fix most of the problems imo. It's my method at least of putting in money I'd use to gamble anw.

1174  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is not a steady income haven on: May 31, 2023, 10:03:33 PM
Gambling places are not for steady income, if you want steady income with gambling, online or offline, you have to be a owner, build your own casino and watch yourself growing up into a filthy rich billionaire.
...because it's not supposed to be a source in the first place? Casinos can be likened to cafes, restaurants, pitching places, golf courses, etc. They all COST money, and they return something called "enjoyment".

Now it varies from place to place but gambling returns said enjoyment as money, but said return is also involved in a process, so it isn't actually a guarantee return. More like a bonus so to speak, because the games are oversimplified to the point where without the thrill of winning something, in this case money, there'd be no point in actually playing.
1175  Economy / Gambling / Re: is KYC data on Gambling sites safe? on: May 31, 2023, 04:49:09 AM
Are you one of those who agree or refuse to fill out kyc on gambling sites? So far, the Kyc that you have filled in on the gambling site is safe? I've never had a problem with the Kyc that I filled out at the gambling site. Have you ever felt cheated from Kyc submitted?
Who knows. I handle data within my company and I know myself that it isn't 100 safe from being exposed, I reckon gambling companies are the same as well. I've rarely played on casinos nowadays but back then I really didn't mind KYC, I don't think I still do really (If preferable then no kyc ofc). I've never felt cheated though.

That dosnt mean I don't care though. Is why I mostly play on casinos that are well known. Their rep is pretty much the only basis I can use after all.
1176  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which New Technology will be adopted by the Gambling Industry? on: May 31, 2023, 12:08:04 AM
VR/AR Casinos:

AI:
What do you guys think?
Ehh I guess AR/VR can come in handy at some point, but I reckon it only caters to a niche audience? I mean it is a nice add-on for those who want it, but I'd say those are in the minority so I highly doubt they'd want to implement it just based on the minority.

AIs, well, they can serve as the host, maybe even an opponent. Or maybe just generate a random zero sum game with each instance if possible. I'd bet on it being an opponent though, just to see whether math can feat over luck.
1177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Has Bitcoin Lost it's Fervor for Percentage Gains? on: May 30, 2023, 12:08:44 PM
People seem to have become millionaires in previous bull cycles with modest investments in BTC & ETH.  If I invested in 1 BTC, is it enough to make me a millionaire by the next bull run, or are there an elite number of alt coins that could help me safely achieve what BTC & ETH once did?
First, it wasn't "safe" for you to become a millionaire back then. It seems safe compared to now because we KNOW what's going to happen already, so don't be dumb enough to assume that that's always the case. Second, it seemed like "modest" investments now, but with the same logic as the first, it only seemed like it. I mean, would it seem modest to invest thousands of dollars on an unknown currency that popped up all of a sudden without any company backing it?

Any altcoin could potentially give you big profit, the margin of growth in new coins is a lot bigger in comparison to old coins after all, but at the same time, just like when Bitcoin was new, the risk is comparatively higher compared to well-known ones. As for Bitcoin making you a millionaire, who knows? It may be a modest growth, or maybe even none at all. I'd suggest just doing DCA though instead if possible.
1178  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you handle long shot bets? on: May 30, 2023, 06:59:16 AM
See that's the thing, you're supposed to stop thinking about your bankroll altogether when you deposit money. Whatever money I deposit in casinos, I consider spent/lost already. I don't actively try to make it bigger or even withdraw it really, it just stays there. If leftovers were left due to being lucky and winning, then I subtract that amount to my usual deposit amount instead.

I would've probably withdrawn in a big win instance, sadly I've yet to experience one so it's just one big money sink, which I'm aware of ofc and I accept it. It's the expense for having fun imo.
1179  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will You Allow To Undergo Hypnosis If A Professional Recommend To Cure Gambling on: May 30, 2023, 12:56:54 AM
If I was addicted, then maybe. Just that I doubt the efficiency of "hypnosis" in actually treating it. Also doesn't help how I've never seen hypnosis being used as a treatment, or how it works even. This is me thinking rationally though, and I dont think you'd consider addicts as rational beings, otherwise addiction would've never gotten the best of them.

I'd probably just outright deny I was addicted. Or even if I did admit it, I'd choose alternatives first since hypnosis seems like it'd make me forget about gambling altogether,  unlike fixing the core problem instead which would still let me gamble, albeit more lightly.
1180  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investing in altcoins is a hedge over Bitcoin how true is this? on: May 29, 2023, 01:04:30 PM
I don't think people don't expect alts to follow when Bitcoin crashes, more like there's more room for profit in altcoins than Bitcoin. We may say that the crypto market is highly volatile, but Bitcoin isn't really that volatile compared to what it was in the past, or what other altcoins can grow into. A 1000% chance of growth is something pretty unrealistic that we'd probably never get to see again in the Bitcoin market, but it isn't exactly impossible with alts, with how some meme coins are even able to get said numbers.

I also highly doubt we'd ever see investors grow doubtful of crypto, since by the time that that's possible, it would've grown to what it was actually intended to be, a currency.
