1201  Economy / Economics / Re: Can Blockchain Replace Banks? on: February 08, 2020, 07:41:02 PM
Blockchain is different from Bank. Blockchain is the technology while the bank is a place where the financial transaction takes place. The bank transaction platform is built by combining so many programming languages that are complex. It is no more news that many banks are already embracing the blockchain technology for an effective transaction which can be achieved cheaply. In fact, some blockchain platforms that house crypto such as XRP is specifically design for banking purposes. The use of blockchain technology is banking will be increasing every year and it is most likely it can takeover the traditional technologies being used in industries.
1202  Economy / Economics / Re: Corona Virus and The Effect on The Markets on: February 08, 2020, 07:31:52 PM
I cant really connect how this affect the crypto market especially when the country that affects most is China that has a long time ban crypto. If we see upsurge then probably due to some panic sell from neighboring countries such as Japan and Korea. People might want to sell to use the money to cover the medical expenses. I watched on television a few days ago that a huge sum of $250 million will be given by the WHO to help fight viral diseases. Hopefully, the disease doesn't impact the market adversely.
1203  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what happened to freedrop? on: February 07, 2020, 07:06:15 AM
How do you expect such a platform to keep coping at the moment when real bounties are no more transparent no to talk of airdrop platform that provides a list of an airdrop. I think the freedrop has done the best thing by going underground because if it continues to provide a relay list of free airdrop, more than 90% of them will turn to scam thereby tarnishing the image of the platform. At this moment, a lot of good bounty managers have turned to bad ones in the eyes of bounty hunters just because they manage bounties that they do not know will also turn to scam. taking part in airdrop and bounty these days do not guarantee you will get paid and when you get paid, you don't know if you will get the chance to trade the coin.
1204  Economy / Goods / Re: Bitcoin Art, need your opinion. on: February 07, 2020, 06:48:15 AM
Greetings.

My mother is an Artist. She loves to create paintings. I've asked her if she could do something related to Bitcoin as well.
So I would like to ask you guys, what price do you see when you look at these artworks? Cool
Thanks
this is my personal opinion.. I think the average price suitable for this painting is in the range of $ 60- $ 100 depending on the media used and what size.  I am not disrespecting your mother's work, but for a painter who (sorry) does not have a famous name, the price I have stated is very rational.
Painting price has nothing to do with painters. All those great painters you know today start from somewhere and besides most people that buy paints for decorations do not even check the name of the painter but rather the quality. Just like you have said, the size of the portrait is one of the factors that determine the price of the paint. Others include the quality of the paint used in the painting and the quality of the material used in making the frame. The two determine the durability of the work. I have seen so many graphite and charcoal painting costing $300 and more but you can use the price of painting being sold on some shopping site such as eBay as a reference in determining the price you intend to sell. I wish you all the best
1205  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What has bitcoin done for you? on: February 07, 2020, 06:26:56 AM
When I was young and in desperate need of money, Bitcoin showed me the way of earning some of it. Back then it was a weird coin that does not exist in real life but can be exchanged for those that do. As time passed, I became more interested in the ideology behind it, Bitcoin perspectives in the world in the future, cryptocurrencies and Blockchain potential. I am now a Bitcoin believer. I really think that it's not just something that can be profitable or something with appealing ideology; I think it will show its power and get more appreciated within our lifetime. Bitcoin educated, fed and interested me, and for this, I am very grateful.
Probably you are one of the early crypto enthusiasts, I feel happy to see people's testimony. I got to know crypto by accident. I could remember I downloaded a bitcoin desktop wallet severally but I do not understand what it is and didn't help myself by researching what it is. Maybe it was because I had much interest in other ecurrencies such as Liberty reserve and solidtrustpay then. in 2015, Clixsense, where I used to be a crowdworker, introduced bitcoin as one of the payment processors via tango card. That was how I got to know about bitcoin. I had visited bitcointalk severally, as a guest just to read study more about bitcoin, not knowing this is where bitcoin start from.
1206  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoins Regularization in Different Countries on: February 07, 2020, 06:14:44 AM
I think there are still many countries that look passive rather than declaring the crypto illegal. Aside from China which I believe their large population really affects crypto, I have not heard about any other big country that has declared it Illegal. Nigeria is ranking 7th as the most populous nation in the world and Number 1 in Africa. Apart from this, I think Nigeria also has the largest population of crypto users and Africa and I do not think the government will anytime soon declare it Illegal. Although they have warned people severally, to stay clear of crypto due to the Ponzi scheme that people use crypto for.
1207  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ETH] I was scammed on Youtube. What to do? on: February 04, 2020, 08:20:37 PM
You and the rest of your colleagues have a long way to go in learning no to be gullible and to always educate yourself before falling for a cheap scam like this. I do not think anybody in his right sense will send you any token as compensation for the ETH you have lost. Thank God the ETH address of the scammer has been flagged. It is high time people do research before making a transaction with anyone. Even here on Bitcointalk, Participating in any form of giveaway will result in a temporary suspension of your account because most of them are always end-up terribly. My advice to you is to desist from any form of a giveaway. cryptos are earned through hard work and not sit down, send money and hoping to get double in return. Even Father Christmas do not give gift freely all the time
1208  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Has the price of Altcoin stopped in one place? on: February 03, 2020, 02:20:51 PM
It is simple demand and supply. When there are more demand, the scarcity tendency will increase which mean the price will increase. Also when people beginning to sell massive the altcoin the price will start to decrease and this is exactly what happen when you see price of crypto falling or rising. However, this scenario can't be generalized even when the market start bleeding and crypto start showing reds, there will still be some that may rise but their risen might not have increase beyond their price drop rate which means it will still be green. Also, in some occasions, the price may remain steady especially when trading volume per time is almost zero
1209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How is it possible there are altcoins costing more than BTC? on: February 03, 2020, 01:44:01 PM
I too was unaware of this but that coin do have an announcement thread here in bitcointalk. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1502028
It's limited in supply. 42 total. It's all time high was $805641.
Almost all of it's volume is coming from Livecoin, an infamous exchange. It pretty much explains the price as it could just be a fake number.

Livecoin is famous and one of exchange platform that I believe to some extent is decent. However, it could be because of the limited number of holders that are pumping the price. This is the very first time I will be seeing this coin. Anyway, just like the list has shown that there are altcoin with price higher than bitcoin, I do not see them as anywhere near bitcoin in term of dominance and market strengths. Non of the crypto available today is widely accepted more than the bitcoin. I have seen on multiple Reasons people quoting CMC without understand how CMC collect data that are being display.
1210  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are Crypto Transactions Traceable? on: February 03, 2020, 09:16:18 AM
If you are using a centralized exchange that you have verified your account through KYC, then your crypto transaction can be traced to such exchange and if the reason for this is because of fraudulent activities, you can easily be caught when the exchange reveal your identity. This is the part of the reason why Centralized exchange conducts KYC especially for users that transact heavy amount of crypto in USD in order to comply with AML act of the country in which the exchange company is located. DEX is free of this and I do not think your identity can be traced on DEX platform.
1211  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it wrong to monetize a bitcoin/cryptocurrency seminar/meeting? on: February 03, 2020, 09:07:53 AM
It depends on what you have packaged as part of the seminar. I have seen many corporate individuals offering seminars on the importance of crypto and how to make a profit by trading and starting local digital currencies exchange and they charge an exorbitant fee for giving these pieces of information. So it all depends. If you use facebook regularly, you must have come across individuals that organize seminars that are not free even on some platform-like edx, Coursera, udemy etc. people make videos inform of a seminar and sell it out for people who want to learn it.
1212  Economy / Economics / Re: agriculture and bitcoin on: February 03, 2020, 08:57:31 AM
I think you can use blockchain technology in the agricultural sector. Supply Chain using blockchain technology can help agricultural product development at the same time provide jobs for people. I have seen some projects been conducted that intend to use the technology for an effective supply chain so I think you can also look toward that direction. Aside from that, unless you want to be selling your product by accepting cryptocurrency. If you want to do this, I think it will be great especially if you are farming organic products such as tiger nut that can be supplied internationally.
1213  Economy / Economics / Re: Countries with banks to buy and sell cryptocurrencies on: February 03, 2020, 05:40:41 AM
I do not think this can happen now in my country because of the government through the Central Bank have warned people a couple of time to be wary of a digital asset popularly regarded as crypto mostly because of the fact that it was used in a few years ago to fuel a Ponzi scheme popularly refers to as MMM, which had led to lost of life and properties when it crashes. However, there has been increasing awareness about the potential of the blockchain technology especially in banking industries and if there will be anything like selling and buying of crypto by bank in the nearest future, the blockchain technology must have been bedrock on which the most bank will rely on.
1214  Economy / Economics / Re: Countries testing digital assets in 2020 on: February 03, 2020, 05:31:32 AM
This is very good news about the crypto market but it is quite bad for the economies of many countries. What do you think about the corruption of the political system to use money to launder money and tax gradually fading in a confusing way?
I think there is no reason for governments to create cryptocurrencies for anything, this should be for private businesses. I am still from my old point of view that any government that creates their coin is suspicious.
There are always two sides to a coin. Anything that has advantages will also have disadvantages. The issue of money laundering is not going to be peculiar to the coin. Up to date people still launder money using fiat even though there has been a massive fight against this. Just because there may be an escape route to money laundering using the coin does not warranty that they should not create their coin. I am sure they must be analyzed the pros and cons of this and probably when they that the benefit overweighs the disadvantage, they would have gone with the idea of making the coin. My only fear is how some countries that generate revenue mostly from taxes going to cope and make things work.
1215  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Viber, WhatsApp, skype, WeChat, Snapchat, IMO, Line not conduct ICO? on: February 02, 2020, 07:58:11 PM
I am sure you know most of these social platform you listed are own by individual and group of people that have clear understanding of the potentials the projects have in making life comfortable for users and if they have not seen any reason why they should introduce a coin as a payment processor, I do not think they will. For instance, the Libra coin which has been widely speculated last year have not been into the market up till date. This might be because Facebook have seen reason why they should not proceed with the coin especially when there were rumour that some giant Facebook affiliates are not backing Libra
1216  Economy / Economics / Re: Goverments creating digital currencies - Threat or Opportunity? on: February 02, 2020, 07:51:14 PM
My own concern is what is the essence of creating your own digital currency when you have a fiat currency?. I'm sure since it is a country thing, it might not be globally accepted, if it so then maybe they can only use it as a means of accepting more traders to their products and service by paying with their digital currency without having to do wire transfer which might attract high service charges. Aside this, I do not see any reason why they should be having their own currency
1217  Economy / Economics / Re: What is the strangest Fiat currency you have seen? on: February 02, 2020, 07:36:17 PM
I am from Africa and the strangest currency I have seen is Zimbabwe dollar. Apart from the look and size of the country like plantain leave  Grin. The value is worthless. In up till today, I'm still wondering what could have make the price of the dollar to be so low. Some time I wonder how difficult it will be when you want to buy a brand new car with Zimbabwe dollars. You will have to good with brief cases full of Zimbabwe dollars  Cheesy. That will be funny. Anyway, it might help reduce money laundering.
1218  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So a bitcoin scam has been getting a lot of publicity in the Philippines lately on: February 02, 2020, 04:37:09 PM
People are taking advantages of the anonymity of crypto to scam others and the worst of the matter is that when such things happen, the trust the people have for bitcoin diminish because they start to see it as a route through which their hard earn savings are being taken from them. It is so sad that from what the op have said, alot of filipino have little or no understanding about bitcoin and this on the other hand will make them more vulnurable to scam. I hope soon, we shall have a more reliable way of dealing with bad eggs among crypto enthusiast that are using the technology to defraud people.
1219  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A clue on how to make them see that bitcoin isn't a scam on: February 02, 2020, 04:27:26 PM
This will only apply to people that have been scam or being told that bitcoin is a scam. The majority of the people that do not want to have anything to do with bitcoin are people who has been scam before including those that have participated in crypto investment. Either through Ponzi scheme or crypto-based project via IEO or ICO everyone. Aside from this category of people, others that have fear for it include the people who have lost money to trading due to volatility related issue. I believe the most important and holistic way to discuss bitcoin is by first telling them about the power of blockchain technology just the way people discuss some programming language such as java, python etc. then later you can introduce the person to bitcoin
1220  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: p2pb2b exchange top 1? on: February 01, 2020, 09:11:46 PM
Don't mind those lists out there. more than 50% of the exchange being listed as top 10 are those exchanges that fake volumes and known to be hive of dead and scam token. Most of them also run IEO that will end up being a scam. The worst part of it is that most of new project dev that wants to list their token always use this ranking of coinmarketcap as the basis for selecting where to list their token but after that, they will realize they are not getting the result they want. If not for the sake of platform like bitcointalk.org, little will be known about these useless projects
