The main post has been updated with the lastest win qt wallet
If you were running the original Photon client (from launch) you must upgrade or you will be cut off the network.
If you are running the second client (which changed the p2p port) this is an optional but recommended upgrade.
Checkpoints were added.
I am taking a few days off of Photon development but will always be lurking in the shadows and on twitter.
So many numbers stirring round in my head after getting merged mining to work on testnet of Namecoin and Bitcoin.
Now........ to find a way to get it working with Blake Coin and Photon.......

There will be markets again , lots of them, have patience.
If your only goal is to mine a coin (any coin) and convert it to bitcoin Photon is not a good choice.

Can anyone confirm that the (second wallet) that was supossed to correct the error in the developers code that paid no coins after block 800 is now corrected on the latest wallet ?

since no one decided to help me out with settings I experimented on my own,
visit the GroestlCoin page at cryptocoin talk for settings for a 7970 that really sped up the hash rate and got some results.
I do like to experiment with new coins (when I should be mining my own coins !!)

Photon is not going anywhere, I assure you of that.
I have the resources, skill and experience to keep a coin running.
Just because you cannot 'exchange' it right now don't hit the panic button.
I have been approached and discussed adding Photon to other exchanges but for now will hold off.
The project is young still.
Many things are in the works.
I am in no real rush or hurry, I like to do things the right way and fairly.
Yes, I actually run an honest coin.
Yes Atomic is actually an honest exchange.
There are no fake buy orders or 'pumps'
Keep mining , I am.

Is the wallet paying out and working properly for everyone now.....curious..... the 2nd wallet I am asking about here ....not the 1st.......

This quote really makes me wonder what other crazy stuff is coming next ....
A couple of 15 year old's with shak3zula's guide could come up with something better than this .....
"The Hawaiicoin Team is made up of mature, creative professionals with degrees and experience spanning engineering, business, sales, and finance. We hope to be able to bring a level of pressionalism and due diligence to the community with the launch of this coin."

Thanks for feedback guys. I have been researching some unrelated items almost all weekend and have not had time to play with settings on this at all. Has anyone tried low work values ?

Curious if anyone has solo mined a block with gpu miner ? I got it to build , about 5.21 mh/s on 7970 but watching in debug mode it looks a little odd. Not to mention the gpu is at 54 C.
I am no expert at porting cpu mining to a gpu, can anyone confirm they actually hit a block ? My settings -g 4 -I 20 -w 264 Any suggestions ?

First, i am only guessing they can compile the wallet easily. I've seen a lot of coins released without wallets and often there are errors or missing/ corrupt files too. This source had no 'mistakes' that I saw and built like any other client 1st time. If people are mining in pools and no wallet is available to the public how will those miners get their coins ? Here is my wallet address and a copy of a photo from my (backup) twitter account to prove I built the wallet. I could do that , but since I was able to make it without any trouble I have a feeling they know how to make a wallet too. After all, someone is mining , not like the coin is dead on launch. I may be more inclined to release it to everyone at no cost & ask for donations .... I've done that with other coins and hardly ever got any donations..... Let's see what the developers do ?? If you made a working windows wallet .....you should offer to sell it to the dev
|
|
|
I solved that issue I made my own windows wallet Difficulty is over 17 block height 343 With the block award and huge premine ..... oh well ..... Too bad the wallet will be released after block 800. Looks like dev doesn't like solo miners ...

Any timetable , since you pre Ann is this something that will be complete in ?? hours?? days??? weeks Any clues ?

fyi found source on github from their webpage
lol
the first nine blocks were 36 million coins each !!
judge for yourself

I'm not sure someone may have just 'started it over' Without being able to see the source anything is possible. If someone did restart it and the "developer' ?? hardcoded future checkpoints in the client it's going to 'get stuck' when the block height gets to that point .... managed to connect to the pool on a guess floripacoin.com.br:3333 (instead of localhost, which somehow still hasn't been fixed?) but couldn't get the wallet to sync. Sometimes this happens on launch though no biggy. Left it running over night on the pool instead of solo. 12 hours later, 16,629 shares, and nothing to show for it Finally today got the wallet to sync this morning after a long battle with tweaks mentioned above. Now it says the block count is 197 instead of the pool 1952. So.. the pool forked at like 600khs? ?

im fooling around with it now in a safe machine for kicks , early blocks were paying 10,000 coins ??

I'll pass , if i can't see source & build it I pass. Link to github is not working.
Careful !

I heard of this coin several months ago and remember it using scrypt 1024 pow/pos I guess it was relaunched using the blake 256 algorithm. I would need to examine the source code, magic numbers ect. but based on a quick read I think it would be impossible to merge mine with Photon or Blake Coin since the block times are much shorter. I am actually researching exactly how merged mining works for sha coins (under the hood) this weekend. Once I (or someone) solves getting merged mining to work with Photon and Blake Coin it will be announced. I have 'clones' of Blake Coin and Photon built for testing purposes only. When I can get it to work on a test machine, further testing will need to be done on the real networks. I have no timetable for when I can promise this will be ready. I develop & code in my spare time. If anyone has any contributions please get in touch.
