1241  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Ethereum Classic undervalued? on: June 14, 2020, 07:01:38 PM
A hard cap of only 210 million coins was introduced on ETC in order to make it a scarce cryptocurrency just like Bitcoin is today. At a programmed number of blocks, the reward will be reduced on the Blockchain in a similar fashion to Bitcoin's block reward halving event.

Right now there is 116 million ETC, what is 5 million more then ETH. Pretty similar for both but far from Bitcoin that is still under 18 millions. ETC is worth almost a billion, what I think is quite a lot. If a lot people will use their platform then price will increase. If that is not the case price of ETC will stay where it is now.
There’s no demand for ETC because investor didn’t see any growth from this one, and maybe those are just traders who keep the price moving but when it comes to a big growth maybe the team should make effort on this one and don’t depend to ETH or BTC for its real growth. There’s so much supply but no demand at all, that’s why the price is still down but you can still see its worth as a top altcoins, though it should keep on growing over time so we can see a big price movement.

Only coins that have use case and are useful can have demand and will be worth anything in the future. The rest 99% of coins wil be worth close to zero.
1242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: NWC's price reached all-time high! What's next? on: June 13, 2020, 09:58:01 PM
NWC's price reached all-time high!

For a coin that is traded for only 6 months it is normal to reach ATH now. Or at least nothing unusual. Fro coins that were traded at Bitcoin ATH in 2017 it would be very unusual to have ATH right now.

1244  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Future of Crytopcurrency on: June 13, 2020, 07:56:05 PM
With cryptocurrency, we can make anonymous transactions without centralized intervention.

You cant make anonymous transactions on transparent ledger cryptocurrencies. You can make them on opaque ledger cryptocurrencies like Monero.  What is missing for cryptocurrencies is something to make it independent from the internet.  Some research to do that thru satellites.  But I like ideas behind mesh networks. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mesh_networking

https://locha.io/   They are implementing it for Bitcoin and Monero.
1245  Economy / Speculation / Re: TA indicates a sharp drop soon on: June 13, 2020, 07:03:48 PM
Unfortunately, the price has dropped too deep because now the price is at $9,300. I wonder if, in the next week, the price can start increase to the last high price...

How $500 drop can be characterized at all as some kind of deep decline? This is something quite normal for four-digit number price, we are not in 2016 when such drop (in fiat value) would be truly dramatic. Why to wait next week or next day when price is back to $9500, as if that means something too much if we look at the overall picture.

OP is expecting price to decrease more in upcoming weeks. So price might decrease much more then just 5%. I totally agree that a 5% drop for Bitcoin is nothing.
1246  Economy / Economics / Re: The Looming Bank Collapse on: June 13, 2020, 06:16:21 PM
The Looming Bank Collapse
The U.S. financial system could be on the cusp of calamity. This time, we might not be able to save it.

This would happen sooner or latter. Post covid-19 economic crisis will just makes it faster. Bank owners will stay without money. People having money in banks will stay without it. And money itself will lose value drastically.
1247  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin can never become a currency. Part 1: scarce supply. on: June 13, 2020, 12:23:57 AM
Good luck achieving consensus to increase the BTC supply. Likely impossible. It's the single most inviolable principle BTC holders have. The more years that go by, the more entrenched and difficult to change the protocol becomes.

I know that most see this as impossible to happen, but I believe it will happen. But not before 20 years from now. Reward will become very small and fees will not be enough to secure network. Fork with small additional  emission will happen and everyone will start using it. 20 years is not something to worry about now.

Do Black lives matter or Do all lives matter?

Of course all lives matter!!! But. All lives matter is not an answer when someone ask you if black lives matter. Right answer is: Yes ,black lives matter.

1249  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Chainalysis now supports Dash and Zcash on: June 11, 2020, 02:23:18 PM
They could've said the "so-called Privacy Coins" because the objective of the article is to prove that they indeed are privacy coins. They have not concluded yet on the opening statement.

Maybe the people don't trust the coin completely to be used on the dark web, checking that the user is almost zero. They have working privacy features for both Dash and ZCash but Dash has more use cases compared to ZCash.

The point of this article is that this two coins transactions can be traced. The "working" privacy features dont work!

Mixing transactions are very easy to spot and identify on the Dash blockchain. As they are still public and transparent, the exact same techniques that can be used to analyse CoinJoin transactions performed using Bitcoin can be used on Dash.

Zcash’s shielded pools can provide stronger privacy than mixing transactions but shielding is not bulletproof. Research at University College London showed that using simple heuristics based on shielded pool usage patterns reduces the anonymity. They showed that most Zcash users don’t use the privacy functionality at all. Of those who do interact with the shielded pools, the researchers showed that most do it in a straightforwardly identifiable way, such as withdrawing exactly the same amount of ZEC that they deposited very quickly afterwards.
1250  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Best privacy coin? on: June 11, 2020, 01:57:18 PM
i don believe if monero is the best privacy coins for now,

What made you believe that?
As I know transactions cant be traced. Dandelion and Optional Tor/I2P transaction relay for privacy protect your IP. Over 10000 daily transaction. Yearly mining emission is close to Bitcoin and Gold, so is strong store of value. Transaction fees are 0.2 cent. It is open source project and never had any ICO, premine, instamine, developer fee, ... so is not a security and is compliant with USA security laws. It have strong community. It have strong development team of over 500 developers in past 6 years.  I could go on and on.  It is by far best privacy crypto currency.
1251  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin can never become a currency. Part 1: scarce supply. on: June 11, 2020, 01:35:58 PM
Grin have higher yearly emission. So you should deferentially check it. But eventually will go much lower as is fiat today. I believe it will take about 50 years to catch Bitcoin right now. Middle path is needed and I believe Gold yearly mining emission is about right.
1252  Economy / Speculation / Re: Continue to Hold your bitcoin on: June 10, 2020, 02:59:57 PM
I understand you talk about volatility in Bitcoins price.
I am not worried that most merchants dont accept Bitcoin. Bitcoin economy still improves and at some point when suddenly all merchants will want to accept Bitcoin because fiat will start getting volatile a lot. And I am talking about mostly negative volatility. At that time Bitcoin will be here for what it was made for.

Compared to what the fiat will become volatile and why do you think that the bitcoin will be stable at the same time? In addition it is not clear how to change the fact that fiat is legal tender, and bitcoin is not (to my knowledge, in most countries it is considered a asset/property and you can not use it to the payment of taxes for example).

Compared to bread, oil, oranges. You cant print this much fiat without devaluing it. You simply cant.  Bitcoin will not lose value since its yearly emission is 1.7%. there is no logic. Unless suddenly everyone will stop using it.  People will use what will keep value. they will not care of any legal tenders. As I kid I lived in country where inflation was over 100% a month. So people simply spend salary the moment they got it. Or when got out of bank exchanged their whole salary fro other currency. Traders were standing outside of bank to do that. Police did nothing about it, since they needed to change their salary also.  Everything was on sale for that foreign currency. IF you were selling a used car you put price in foreign currency. When you were doing plans in your mind you think them in foreign currency.  It does not matter what a legal tender is. Trust me. It matters what people use.
1253  Economy / Speculation / Re: Continue to Hold your bitcoin on: June 09, 2020, 08:15:03 PM
The bitcoin price is reason why most retailers won't accept it. Even with blockchain-based transactions that can potentially validate and settle faster than payments on traditional banking networks, the lag in settlement times can still allow for wild vacillations in the price of bitcoin.

I understand you talk about volatility in Bitcoins price.

This post definitely dont belong under Bitcoin Forum > Economy > Economics   You talk about some service on which you will trade alt coins. Please move it where it belongs.
1255  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Best privacy coin? on: June 09, 2020, 05:42:24 PM

So much bullshit written in this thread and was written in last 6 years on this forum, when math was clear what can be a privacy coin and what will be totally same private as Bitcoin.  It is funny to see in report saying that some wallets can make Bitcoin and Litecoin more private then "so called privacy coins".

People here will lie to you to sell you their bags. Instamined bags or just bought cheap bags.
1256  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Zcash users need to read this and stop carelessly transferring your coins. on: June 09, 2020, 05:01:41 PM
Nevertheless, the importance of privacy transactions is only cared by some special people who deeply care about their privacy. For the rest, they are solely use Zcash for investment, tradings, and moving their funds from exchanges to exchanges, from platforms to platforms. They don't care about privacy, and traceability of their transactions through Zcash.

Yes. Only people that USE cryptocurrencies care if coin have opaque or transparent ledger. Those that just trade them on exchanges dont care. Crypto currencies were not meant to be traded on exchanges. They were made to be used everyday. and those without use case should be worth zero.
1257  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Chainalysis now supports Dash and Zcash on: June 08, 2020, 09:16:51 PM
That would be because those "so called privacy coins" are a joke. Smiley

And their supporters were warned. Again, and again, and so on ...
But no, we don't understand... that all they care about is money, no matter what.

I dont think they ever cared much if DASH or ZCash ledger is opaque or transparent.  As long as it will make them profit. Forgetting that if developers cheated them and sold them a "so called privacy coin" as a privacy coin, then they most likely cheated them at something else also.
1258  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: See What DEX Really Means on: June 08, 2020, 08:55:41 PM
2. Hodl hodl and Bisq have been reputed to be DEX, are they really dex exchanges?

I dont know of hold hold, but fro BisQ, it is totally decentralised except disputes. They do somehow have plan to fix that in the future.  There also exist DEX exchanges on some asset platforms. But they only trade tokens of those asset platforms. Like tokens of Etehreum or tokens of Counterparty.
1259  Economy / Economics / Re: Will the current rally in US stock market help it’s economy in the long run?. on: June 08, 2020, 08:31:03 PM
It seems S&P 500 will reach new ATH this week. Over the ATH in mid February. It just looks so unreal to me. With number of daily infected increasing day by day. With civil unrest all over world that can turn into real shitty pandemic. It is just unreal. It seems they really believe in unlimited printing of fiat.
1260  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Will Drop - Sell Your Bitcoins - Part II - Get 180% Profit on: June 08, 2020, 07:37:00 PM
What you are saying is a bit confusing.

You say that we should sell BTC and hold EUR and USD for about 3 months and then buy back Bitcoin at $6000?
