Well folks we did it. We just passed the 190k coins mark. Hooorah!

To celebrate I updated the homepage. Here's a changelist:
* Added new section: Team (if any member wants something changed, message me!)
* Fixed nethash stat (yay!)
* removed network graph and infoblock (the API problems persist, I can get the correct *current* nethash from a different API, but not a correct history right now. Will create a server-side workaround for this after my vacation - if there is demand)

Enjoy!

Congrats to Mr UNO ;-)

Finally got round to the previz that I said I'd post days and days ago. Having some trouble working out the mold with my manufacturer.

Is that ZBrush? Haven't used that in ages, such a fine tool...

Yeah, just used my heightmap as a brush.
1243  Economy / Speculation / Re: Technical Analysis for Dummies on: August 12, 2014, 08:57:27 AM
Nice write up, I went from being obsessed with fundamentals to seeing how all encompassing TA really is. TA is the backbone of any analysis I do or read about now.

Too often 'fundamentals' are equated to 'stories' that may be true or false with no way to verify.
1244  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why did BTC drop to $570 level? on: August 12, 2014, 08:54:29 AM
Could be a short term double bottom, we should look out for resistance at $540 now.

Tragic, at least from what I understand. Not sure how new laws will prevent this happening though.
1248  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The Celebrity Trend on: August 11, 2014, 08:00:45 PM
I really don't know how anyone could admire people who add nothing to society and are just throwing out their "unearned" currency all over the place for no reason.
Can anybody explain it to me?

They admire the lifestyle without sacrificing anything. Years ago it would have been frowned upon. Morals of a society always deteriorate when the system is morally bankrupt too.
1249  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The Celebrity Trend on: August 11, 2014, 07:58:58 PM
I'd be tempted to say it's part an agenda to glamourize mediocrity and moral bankruptcy, ties in to so many societal trends like extreme feminism and political correctness. It's also down a lot to the entitlement culture that exists in the West.

State education does a good job of making everyone 'special' bringing students down to the lower common denominator too.

I think you might be stretching a bit. But enjoy your McKenna... Correlations?
1251  Economy / Speculation / Re: Peter Schiff as a contrary indicator for gold and silver? on: August 11, 2014, 04:23:32 PM
I look at it purely from a technical viewpoint- I don't buy into all the 'silver stories' true or not.

Seems that the metals are a bit of a down trodden asset, and resistance on silver has held at $18.18 for quite a while, to me it seems to be a bottoming.
1252  Economy / Speculation / Re: Peter Schiff as a contrary indicator for gold and silver? on: August 11, 2014, 02:48:11 PM
Peter Schiff is apparently closing down The Peter Schiff show. This coupled with the stagnation of the precious metals, could this be the ultimate contrarian indicator to load up on precious metals?

What, he is? Really? I never thought that could happen. But the gold price really went down over the last year or so. Didn't he started accepting BTC as a payment for his gold mail order service? Maybe he got infected with the bitcoin fever and is now hoarding some BTC Smiley

Haha, maybe I think Peter is still quite sceptical of it, I'd be surprised if he was holding many.

Check out this guy talking about it (short video)

1254  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Anyone used all4btc.com lately? on: August 11, 2014, 01:11:19 PM
That's strange, I've never had a problem with bitpay payment methods, as far as I know you only need a single confirmation for the payment to go through?
1255  Other / Off-topic / Re: AVG free anti-virus on: August 11, 2014, 09:32:47 AM
Of all the antivirus I've used, I like Bitdefender and Malwarebytes, BD has good customer support too.

Argh, very tempting still. Seems you wouldn't have a problem selling it on feebay though? They seem very popular.

Cheesy ... No doubt about, it's a great tool if you get used to. We have them also in my job and I'm absolutely satisfied, don't need another at home.

Thanks for tip, I've no experience with feebay but I'll take a closer look.

Just to clarify, I meant eBay :-)
1258  Other / Politics & Society / Re: US health care mandate (Obamacare) on: August 10, 2014, 09:34:31 PM
The path to hell is paved with good intentions.  Obama espoused his good intentions of having everybody covered for a low cost.  The reality is this cannot happen, especially when all other insurance in the US is for catastrophes - not day to day expenses.  Health insurance shouldn't cover well child visits or annual checkups - those the patient should be paying for.... but that would require the patient be responsible for their own fricking body - something I see in less than 20% of my patients now.
I don't think it was so much a good intention, but rather a way to spread his liberal ideals of having a big government. He knew that people would not be able to keep their health plan, yet he promised that people would be able to do so. He raised taxes on everyone in order to pay for this new social program.
He said the average family would save $2500.

They didn't.

My plan more than doubled in cost.

I really hope that Obamacare program will eventually succeed in USA, in the present or modified form, now or later in the future.
I have many friends in uSA and their biggest concern is what will happen if they become sick because they can't afford health care.
You call this universal health care socialism but for us, in Europe, this is perfectly normal, that government provide basic health care for everyone.
If you want better health service, you pay.

You should look to the reasons health care is so expensive to begin with. Hint: it's got a little to do with regulation and lobbying.

In Europe it is normal, but is total shit for the who genuinely need health care. It can't last in its current form.
1259  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Message to the voting cattle on: August 10, 2014, 09:28:28 PM
Seek the truth for it shall set you free, truth is stranger than fiction and reality is riddled with irony. Terence Mckenna’s time wave theory is vindicated by the blockchain, it is the tipping point in human history. "He who controls the past controls the future. He who controls the present controls the past.' - George Orwell. This will be the blockchain, it will record history going forward and in so doing it will free society from its "chains". The genesis block was the birth of collective consciousness; satoshi nakamoto is the supernatural creator ;-)

You put too much faith in men and mystics. Bitcoin will be a tool one day just like any other market.
1260  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 17000 sign up to lawsuit against Facebook for supporting NSA spying on: August 10, 2014, 09:23:15 PM
Sadly the law suit won't have much ground to stand on and will just be brushed aside.
I doubt it will be brushed aside, but I don't think the plaintiffs will win. This looks like a way for class-action trial lawyers attempting to bully their way to get a settlement from facebook so they can get paid.

This was said above, but it should be said again that the best way to stop the spying is at the polls.

Good luck with conveying the dangers of big brother to the average voter, and why would government abandon such a resource? I secretly hope to be surprised one day, but I expect I'll be so cynical maybe I won't even see a change for the better if it slapped me!
