1261  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: HonestDoubler.com - GAME OVER on: September 22, 2015, 12:22:50 AM
There stil more than 30btc excess the last time when statistic shown before the trouble.it was enough to pay some cover investment but the admin ran with it.thats why it came to end not because no new investments coming because A LOT OF INVESTMENTS COMING!

Unfortunately, yes... that is the case.  Plus as you can see, HD has yet to return to explain further the reasoning behind all of this and literally left everyone here to speculate WTF happened.  It was a good idea to have a honest, transparent system such as HD... but unfortunately, it was a better and more profitable idea to run away with the BTC while the site was hitting it's peak deposit streak.  Also I'm pretty sure HD send the investment in with the 0 miner fee to cause a "crash"... it makes sense to me that he would, as it would be like a ticking time bomb and excuse to run away.
1262  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Silver Wallets - A New Kind of Physical Storage [MEGA SUMMER SALE!] on: September 21, 2015, 07:27:15 PM
Still available. Grin

Are they available for the same price as stated in the OP?
The price in the OP is the current asking price.

Awesome, I'll be monitoring this thread... just need to save up some extra funds to spare.  That #1st design with gold looks insanely nice and classy Smiley
1263  Economy / Speculation / Re: No More Rocket To The Moon Ever on: September 21, 2015, 07:21:56 PM
All these people who don't believe cryptos (mainly bitcoin) in general can't "go to da moon" don't seem to believe in bitcoin's core values.  It's not to gain hype by increasing the value of it and then cash out to never use or buy them again... it's to actually be able to use them as an actual, legit, and stable currency that will last the test of time...

But when you have such volatile prices right now in the btc market, there will always be those that treat bitcoin strictly as a commodity and nothing else.

Hey, why aim for the Thermosphere ? ..... This thing should go to Mars with the people who will be going there --> https://www.nasa.gov/content/nasas-journey-to-mars

Having a node on another planet, under full control of humans, would be a great leap for Bitcoiners.  Roll Eyes ... When they settle there, they can use Bitcoin as the official currency

for trade. Imagine sending inter stellar transfers to other planets for people rendering services {programming .. etc} from Mars. Go big or go home.  Grin

Classic example of why we need sidechains - communication is too slow and too unreliable for people to mine the same blockchain on Mars that they're mining on Earth.  Even with newer technology and optimized communication speeds, with minimized interference, there would be constant forks at best.  And then there could be regular communications blackouts depending on the relative positions of the planets, so I don't think it would work.  You'd need separate blockchains.

When people go to Mars, they would need to send their bitcoins to the Mars sidechain.  Their transaction will take a while to reach Mars, but it will get there long before they do.  Then they'll have coins on the Mars blockchain.

Then when they're ready to come back to Earth, they send their coins back from the sidechain to the original Bitcoin blockchain on Earth.

That's some real sci-fi optimism you got going on there buddy... maybe by then we could time travel back to 2009 to invest heavily into bitcoin so we'll be rich now Smiley But seriously... that would be awesome if people really do end up going to Mars with new politics, philosophy, and way of doing business there. Hurry up and be year 2050 already!!

I've been thinking about this, but would it be beneficial to incorporate a portion of the satellite to host the first satellite broadcasted Bitcoin radio using this satellite? You could then have Bitcoin businesses advertise periodically between intermissions to support funding.

Don't know if this would work though.
1267  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Circle approved for BitLicense, new "All USD" wallet app to be announced. on: September 21, 2015, 03:27:23 PM
So what is the general consensus of buying bitcoins? I still use circle and am worried about this... I would prefer to use exchange sites like local bitcoins, but they don't have any users in the town I'm in currently Sad

1269  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Realistically does bitcoin have any competition ? on: September 21, 2015, 03:20:52 PM
I still hold on to my belief that if someday bitcoin fails for that matter, it will bring down the trust people are having towards cryptocurrencies. That includes all the other altcoins.

It all depends on the reason for failure. If it is one generically applicable to all crypto that would be true. But if it is for a special cause unique to bitcoin's circumstances then it might have little effect on cryptocurrency in general. The block size debate (and how it ends) could be a case in point, since many other alts have different setups for block size as well as governance (for better or worse).

Absolutely, but at the same time I can see if Bitcoin doesn't completely fall flat and holds this relative price point of $230, I can see it being even possible for another crypto to come in the scene that improves one flaw of Bitcoin to become a complimentive currency. So as most of this thread has been saying about monero holding a better security/anonymity feature, then that currency can be a reputable compliment currency that holds value to that purpose. Or maybe if something comes to play that offers more security than monero then that currency will become the compliment currency.

Or for example, another currency came along that offers a rediculously faster confirmation time for quick and easy transactions, then that will be another compliment... I don't necessarily think Bitcoin will fall flat, it might just share its purchasing power to these complimentive cryptos that allows a user to decide what needs need to be met for the types of transaction he'll be doing.
1270  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: HonestDoubler.com - GAME OVER on: September 21, 2015, 03:39:58 AM
When I heard about this site and I saw that they have some gave aways I believed that they are trying only to win the trust from people then people will deposit in the site and the will run away with the investments without paying
Does my scenario happened or what is the meaning of "game over " here ?

Basically, investments were coming it at an alarming rate and people were going crazy over at HD's website... one guy even deposited 5 BTC...

Well what eventually happened (all in about 1 day), HD lost ~7 BTC due to a "double spend" error in the automated pay out system... then someone who placed a bet on HD chose to not use miners fees and so the bet he placed never got confirmed, so when the payout came to his bet the system litterally just shut down... then all the sudden, out of no where, HD came out and said that another error happened with the automated pay out system and lost around another 7 BTC... from then on it was game over for everyone and he shut down.
1271  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Realistically does bitcoin have any competition ? on: September 21, 2015, 03:29:15 AM
Please do not fall into this mistake of inferring Bitcoin's superiority on the basis of its userbase.

The headstart is much more than a simple number of users. It is a complex history where time, trust and capital growth are much more important than a simple assessment of its userbase. A very organic process which can scarcely be reproduced.

Have you contemplated the idea that by purchasing Monero through either fiat or Bitcoin you are also "starting" from a public asset?  Wink

It's true, the first speculators of Monero are transferring public assets into the Monero system (unless they are the lucky ones mining pure Monero).  But as the economy grows, goods and services will begin to be traded for Monero and these will be truly anonymous.

As far as your initial point, let's first go back a *scant* four years to 2011:
http://www.digitaltrends.com/android/iphone-overtakes-blackberry-to-become-top-phone-for-business-users/

Secondly, let me take you back to the year 2008.  Something amazing happened that no one expected.  No, it wasn't bitcoin:

http://www.zdnet.com/article/facebook-overtakes-myspace-globally/

Let's go back a decade before that:

http://www.wired.com/2009/09/0928ie-beats-netscape/

Now let's step back a century:

http://www.somdnews.com/article/20140108/NEWS/140109402/a-century-ago-autos-began-overtaking-horses&template=southernMaryland

All these things required a superior replacement to disrupt an established competitor.  In some cases the original asset paved the way while the successor inherited the fruits of that labor with a refined version.

Now again, I don't think Monero will completely replace Bitcoin (assuming it gets its shit together with blocksize issues) because a public ledger is valuable too.  But if you're only argument for why bitcoin is better is because "more people use it" in the face of overwhelming technological superiority... well, that's not an argument that stands up to the test of time.

I'm really starting to like listening to these rants of yours lol. It's like your coaching a team of monero users and giving them a motivational speech before a "big game"... but at the same time it's like your blind and accidentally went into the wrong locker room and began giving your motivational speech to a team of bitcoin users.

Idk & idc, whatever you said has got me pumped up!
1272  Economy / Services / Re: ★☆★ MagicalDice Signature campaign - Earn up to 0.15 BTC per week! [Open] ★☆★ on: September 21, 2015, 03:20:44 AM
Quick question... when does each payout period technically end? I know it's the 7/14/21/28th of every month... but what about the actual time in reference to the forum?
1273  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Circle approved for BitLicense, new "All USD" wallet app to be announced. on: September 21, 2015, 03:10:22 AM

That's actually pretty true, it will help mainstream adoption.. but at the same time, it's not good if one site has all control in the say so of price rates to buy bitcoin... especially if the government is affiliated with them.

If their prices veer away from any other market player then people will take their business elsewhere.

How big is Circle at present? I don't see them discussed all that much on here.

Well it's pretty hard to do that if you live in the US and don't live in any major US city.  Hardly none of the US cities have bitcoin ATM's and localbitcoins usually only work for people in large cities that have atleast some people that use bitcoins.  Also, Xapo is another way to go about getting them, but they charge a pretty high fee if I'm not mistaken.

Circle I think is a pretty big player in this field right now, especially since they are backed up now by big time investors.
1274  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Realistically does bitcoin have any competition ? on: September 21, 2015, 03:05:08 AM
I do not think that other altcoin have any chance to remove bitcoin and become in its place because these coins are only a copy from the original thing with is bitcoin
And I think banks can not control bitcoin because it is decentralized

Monero is not a copy, goober.  It is an entirely new code base.  That's like calling Bitcoin a copy of Microsoft Excel.

a7mos: "I'm not a goober..."
1275  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Circle approved for BitLicense, new "All USD" wallet app to be announced. on: September 21, 2015, 02:48:20 AM
For context, I am in no way affiliated with Circle, just had a chance encounter that tipped me off.  My use of circle amounted to needing to prove I had a pathway to get mining profits from a pool into my checking account without paying fees.  For that use, circle has been great.  I'm curious what the fear is?  If anything I saw this news as a good thing.  It seems to me that what bitcoin really needs is adoption, and that means we need merchants.  Merchants need stability.  If we can't give them a stable exchange rate, then giving them an app that isolates them from the volatility should help adoption.  So what's the danger here?

That's actually pretty true, it will help mainstream adoption.. but at the same time, it's not good if one site has all control in the say so of price rates to buy bitcoin... especially if the government is affiliated with them.
1276  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's the amount that every Bitcoiner should own ? on: September 21, 2015, 02:42:16 AM
For me, at least 1 BTC. 2-3 BTC if you are a true believer. At the moment, I don't think it is easy to persuade most people to invest more than that.

Well to be honest, for me, personally... it's incredibly hard for me to persuade ANYONE whom I know to invest in bitcoin at all.  About a year ago I suggested to my friends and family to invest in bitcoin and provided reasons as to why. In short, my friends laughed at me and told me it's all hype and a bubble and will eventually fall on it's face to zero, and my family (all christians) said that if I were to invest in something of the sort, I would be "giving into the devil" and supporting what is fore told in the book of rapture that a global currency would take place.

*sigh* It's hard being a christian in the crypto community... Sad
1277  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Circle approved for BitLicense, new "All USD" wallet app to be announced. on: September 21, 2015, 02:28:35 AM
I don't like this, we're giving Circle too much control, espeically with how close they're tied with government regulations now.

I mean really, it's the only option we have, especially if you live in the US like I do... but hopefully another site will come out and challenge circle, idk how they would do against government... probably not too good I'm assuming lol.
1278  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: HonestDoubler.com - GAME OVER on: September 21, 2015, 01:47:56 AM
okay cool,
will you tell us with this account or will you open a new one?

Notify us admin when is your next game, we all trust your games and it was run very honestly, you didn't seem to steal any funds and I profited.

I can't believe what i'm reading, you guy's are looking forward for a new scam site?
It's like asking the admin HonestDoubler.com "when do you plan to rob us again"?

They're most likely the people who profited from HonestDoubler early on.

Like me.

Even if HD were to come back at any time with HD2.0 or something of the sort, it certainly won't gain as much traction due to the fact that he literally lost 14 BTC due to an error in the system, and because of the system crashes that are due to people not paying miner fees...

But I'm sure HD will come back in a year or so under a completely new alias and everything... Who knows, maybe HD did get a large following/group of supporters that will follow him to the end.
1279  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Realistically does bitcoin have any competition ? on: September 21, 2015, 01:45:02 AM
I hate to break it to you all, but unfortunately, rampant speculation, the hack attacks and massive price drops have already essentially killed bitcoin from the credibility point of view. No large company will willingly use a currency if using it risks their profitability on the scale bitcoin does.

This was back when bitcoin was a haven for criminal enterprise and crazy speculation rides.  It was ludicrous to consider any respectable entity getting involved in Bitcoin and yet... here we are.

Do I think governments or Wall Street will get involved in Monero?  Hell fucking yes I do, especially once they realize how much better it is than Bitcoin.

I can definitely see governments getting into Monero due to the ability to be secure in transactions of money to one business/government to another... but do I see it being a big player on Wall Street? Meehhhh... I don't really know about that.  It's not like Wall Street would want to use monero for any reason because why should they care about the anonymity of the transactions, and I wouldn't really see Wall Street wanting to put it in the market because, well, they want to keep S & P all fiat based.
1280  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin is Becoming a Global Currency on: September 21, 2015, 12:52:47 AM

As long as bitcoin is small and under the radar of the government, there is no problem. Once it becomes bigger, the government will subject it to the same restrictions / regulations as any other money transmission medium.

Yes, this is especially true when you think about the fed and private banks and the amount of control they have over the government.  It would be very naive to think that a small group of very wealthy/very powerful group of white men with indirect control of the worlds most powerful armies wouldn't do something to protect the scheme they have going as of right now.  It'll be a long hard road for bitcoin to be fully accepted in every business/institution residing in every country in the planet.  That's some WWIII sh**.
