1261  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How honest and transparent are casinos? on: April 03, 2023, 09:45:16 AM
I have seen several casinos with promotions where they do "drops" to thousands of people or they give bonuses to several gamblers, but how transparent is this process?

Do you think casinos are really doing these drops to 1000s of people or are they skimming from the top.... ? They might say a drop is for 2500 people, but they might only drop for 500 people and nobody will know. Yes, some of those 500 people will report that they have received the drop and it will look legit.... but is it really?

How can the gamblers verify that the actual amount of people are receiving the drop or the bonus, if there are no list to verify it? Let's discuss this.. I am curious if other people also thought about this...  Tongue
I see no reason why they would withhold said promos/rewards, I mean yes they're a pretty sizeable amount but only to us. To them, it's probably peanuts. Plus it's a marketing strategy so some thinking has gone through as to why it was x amount given to y people, it would always fall into acceptable levels for casinos (unless they're new, in which case risks are unavoidable). I've never really bothered trying to count whether they gave everything out as they said, usually it just stems to me getting it or not. It's also rather difficult since you wouldn't exactly expect a group of gamblers to have a unity of sorts, so trying to tally it would be rather hard.

Even in the case of crypto, giving it out to x amount of wallets doesn't exactly certify it's all given out, they may have made dummy accounts to recycle the money back to them. But eh, as long as I get the bonus I don't really care if they fulfill their words, if I don't, then that's just unlucky. The important part here is that they're giving out something anyway.
1262  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your local gambling game that you didn’t see in the crypto casino on: April 01, 2023, 12:50:16 PM
Eyyy ph games. Used to play those a lot with my friends back in HS, was also the one that introduced me to poker snd then to gambling back then really.

I think the only one I'd ever consider would be spider fighting?  Kinda like cockfighting but with spiders. Was immensely famous back when I was a kid, wonder if you would count that (it's technically sports gambling if you think about it)

On another note, I'm actually rather curious why UNO wasn't adopted as a gambling game since it relies heavily on luck. Do the devs have some sort of power over it to prevent casinos from using it as one?
1263  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Has anyone here tried Gambling Arbitrage? on: April 01, 2023, 11:46:59 AM

Never tried it. I do know about it, but simply because it was too tedious and too much effort was required, plus the fact that you can only really get small amounts (depends on your bankroll really), it wasn't that enticing. Not to mention my sports gambling experience itself was for fun, not really for the money.

I reckon it'd be easier to do with bots and scripts though, can probably make one given enough time but I'd much rather design stuff than do headache inducing programs like that.
1264  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your opinions of future in Crypto with AI technology? on: April 01, 2023, 08:15:56 AM

It's big because it's the only thing making waves so far. Who knows, there might be a bigger one at the end of the year. There's a possibility AI projects are indeed using AIs since afaik chatgpt itself is available for public use so they can build off of that, but then again, what's the use if you can just stick with chatgpt itself. And with plugins feature, just wait for a curious dev or two and you might have what you already need, for free

Still I wouldn't push them down much, especially projects made later on since they'd probably have more reliability in terms of using actual AI, most recent projects are imo just hype ones.
1265  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Taxes on NFT holders on: April 01, 2023, 05:56:26 AM
It is what it is, I don't think it's anything bad, especially if we consider how the nft scene is (where 99% of it is rather questionable even imo). Well I do consider the scene to be rather dead at this point,so I'd say they're kind of late-ish? But regardless nfts ain't really going to disappear so them putting this out isn't really going to negatively affect what the want to happen.
I don't think it will be a huge impact on the NFT ecosystems, because (if I recall correctly) those players who are interested in Play-2-Earn games are from countries which are not developed, like Latin America and South Asia, for example. Where the minimum wage is low

Wouldn't they just release a separate law when it comes to p2e earnings? Or just apply trading rules to it otherwise, people in mmos who sell in game currency should also technically be affected (or any other similar actions like it)
1266  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Online casino always take risks? on: April 01, 2023, 01:59:50 AM
I am just curious about how does online casino pay for their promotion on their influencers? Where does their earning comes from? How will you get scammed when you try online casino? How can you tell that online casino is safe?
Casinos earn way moree than we think they do, and they get a lot of value when it comes to advertisements that come from various sources, one of which is from influencers. I mean just look at how much people are easily (very sadly) influenced nowadays, and you'd know it's a great method of advertisement now compared to then

You'd only ever get scammed if you play on a fake site, otherwise it's most likely you f'ed up on following the casinos rules. I usually take a look at reviews, and the duration it's been running till date, plus licenses (which I know are worth jack, but they're still worth than having nothing)

(Damn this bird is so hard to do on mobile)
1267  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Slot Tournaments - Ever Heard of it? on: March 31, 2023, 11:49:40 PM
In the past it used to be held in a brick and mortar casinos but with the advent of online casinos. More flexible time limits is the only rule that exist in the online version of the competition that does not apply to the regular rules when played in the land-based casino.
You mean in the past ( or in brick and mortar casinos) theres other rules in limiting the player other than time? Rather curious what those are since the very basic idea I have of it is highest number of coins in x amount of time. There might be additional rules to getting coins, like only this pattern or that pattern, but the time rule wouldn't really get removed since it's a limiter of sorts.

Or they can use x amount of tries, which I just thought of right now.

Never heard of it in general though. Kinda interesting since compared to poker and similar games, I'd consider this to fully be about luck.
1268  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Most likely category of people to become Gambling addicts. on: March 31, 2023, 03:47:35 PM

Or just, idk, don't introduce gambling in general. I mean I know myself it isn't a bad activity when you're in control, but in general it is viewed as a vice after all.

I certainly haven't tried inviting one to a gambling den/casino, but I have done some simple friendly bets with my friends. All in all it wasn't a bad influence, even with money involved but that's because there was a factor of fun involved. I highly doubt things would be the same if it wasn't fun, so really, unless they really enjoy gambling or something similar to it, I wouldn't introduce them to casinos.
1269  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Top AI Crypto coins that can possibly change your life on: March 30, 2023, 12:17:38 PM
Hmm, they all sound like something a dev can do for free and publish on the internet. With how ChatGPT is right now, and its feature of plugins being released, I don't think these types of "AI's" can still hold a candle to it since ChatGPT would be an all-around type of AI with the right plugins made and used. I might still take note of some of these projects though since you can't say devs would make whatever we want. I'd still say that a large majority of these are just hyped up though and at its core, use simple algorithms instead.
1270  Economy / Economics / Re: Elon Musk and others urge AI pause, citing 'risks to society' on: March 30, 2023, 04:16:27 AM
One question I have. Does chatgpt own any btc? Can it have some hidden keys?
I meaaaann, you can probably ask it to create it's own wallet and then ask for the address so you can send him some, might help in pleading for innocence when they take over the world.

Honestly speaking though, I never considered deepfakes being one of the most notable problems AI would make, didn't really expect it to go all artsy after all. Unless devs put some noteable sign that something was generated via AI, and can't be edited that easily, then I don't think stuff like this is stopping.

Can't wait for Github Copilot X though, let that release first before stopping AI devs.
1271  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which Sports do you like bet apart from the the listed one here? on: March 30, 2023, 12:05:38 AM
Recently I came across a few articles on the Internet while trying to understand what makes sports betting so lucrative. I now know that there are three big sports that every Gambler, Sports Enthusiast, and a lot of fans are engaged in Sports betting. I personally have not seen or realized it but a good majority of teens & preteens are already into it.

I hope everyone would agree with this list:

  • Soccer
  • NBA
  • Cricket
  • UFC

This list is not based on betting revenue or based on the number of fans. It is simply compiled by me after watching the activity on this board for different games thread. I am aware that I did not add Tennis, MMA and Boxing as my question is about those sports that are not being discussed here but you do bet on it either occasionally or on a regular basis.
Kinda odd how you didn't include eSports, it has its own mega thread here and is plenty active during tournament seasons,. Most especially Dota 2 and CS:GO afaik.

I usually watch football on my freetime, but never really bet on it competitively, maybe every now and then. Was recently into volleyball due to Yuji Nishida, mans a beast and couldn't help but watch more of him. Idk if it has a competitive scene or even considered a sport in the world in general, but I've also been watching more of Kyudo (Japanese archery)
1272  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investment involves being realistic, doesn't it ? on: March 29, 2023, 12:59:15 PM
Been there trying that, and actually lost more than I gained. Leaving aside the fact that I'm just generally a bad trader, it's actually much more comfortable to invest for the long term instead of selling/buying durings pumps and dips, solely because instead of trying to gain more profit, you instead avoid making more losses. Plus, the fact that you've already profited and yet didn't sell only means that things would only grow there, unlike in short term where after buying, the results change once again and even if you follow the strategy of buy low sell high, simple as it sounds, it's not at all that simple.

Honestly, I probably would've made a quick buck with buying and selling in the past few months, but that's the ME in the now knowing what happens is talking about, me of the past certainly didn't know that and would absolutely have no way of knowing so.
1273  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Skill Based Slot Machines on: March 29, 2023, 12:14:17 PM
Okay, this is just dumb, yes it indicated that bonus rounds that depend on skill exist, but what skill? What are the specifics or rules/laws behind the bonus round itself? Other than specifying that it was a "skill-based" kind, nothing else appeared. There are a LOT of things that a "skill-based" indication covers. Honestly would have liked it better if it elaborated more on what criteria they choose on "skill-based", or at least, specify what it actually is for some examples.

In my own assumption though, I reckon skill-based means something similar to games provided in arcades? Since it's probably by far the easiest to implement in land-based casinos. If you're a fan of arcades, you'd probably know about fighting booths, rhythm ones, or even the most simplest ones similar to Mario or Tetris. If it was like that then it is rather interesting.
1274  Economy / Economics / Re: Is some certain lifestyle a waste of money and time ? on: March 29, 2023, 04:12:25 AM
That depends on a personal subjective opinion though. I'd judge it as 100 a waste yes, since one, I myself don't drink and two, there's probably a bunch of other ways friends can hangout, especially without them having to spend so much. And that's coming from me who has no relationships (aka wife and kids) to worry about (Except for my mother and sis).

I'd say those who have much more to shoulder would say that it's a waste as well, but I wouldn't put it past me for someone to come along and say it's fine if they don't have any problems living and supporting their families
It might be a problem when you look ahead into the future though.
1275  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can a casino ever run without the government's awareness? on: March 28, 2023, 12:08:34 PM
Yup. That was back then though I think it should still be possible now, it might be kind of hard to stay anonymous without the knowhows, and it's only a matter of how "long" can it actually stay up since it WILL be brought down if the government was able to see how it can gain traction with their citizens, especially if it was a country that prohibits gambling.

I highly doubt a registered crypto casino will need to accept CBDC's, they were well and fine enough with how they work right now with only specific cryptos being accepted after all. And even then, it will only remain as an option in the casino, and not the sole coin that people are able to use.
1276  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Using AI to predict outcomes on: March 28, 2023, 12:12:52 AM
Wow! That is really valuable information, @Wexnident! Thanks for that.

Have you, or anyone you know tried it yet?

I feel like from now on we are going to have some interesting conversation here in this thread. Can't wait for your posts regarding this, guys. I will try to figure out myself how to use it too, but I feel like it can take time. Smiley
You have to register to their waitlist before being able to access the feature. I actually got to know about this via a YT channel called fireship, and afaik a lot of articles have actually started covering it when it was released. It definitely opens up a LOT of capabilities now, ones I used to doubt when it originally had limited access to data.
1277  Economy / Economics / Re: Is capitalism killing morality in the name of the law? on: March 27, 2023, 03:42:15 AM
Lending services has always been there, capitalism didn't invent it nor did it force morality ton suddenly disappear with it being regulated. In fact it simply helped in creating a centralized system around it imo, and as long as the larger majority is ok with it, that would be how the norms of society shall view it as well.

Same with the porn industry. Society developed, and the same could be said with societal norms. I'd agree in some sense that capitalism has changed our and society's mindset to what it is now,  but the same could be said for anything else really. It's not the sole factor involved. Heck you can actually say that the norms were already changing, capitalists simply took advantage of it and say, hastened it's development for their profits.
1278  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Chasing looses Vs Finding closure: Any difference? on: March 27, 2023, 12:09:00 AM
Tf is a closure in gambling lmao. No need to put it like that, You're making something incredibly simple (and dumb) into something that "sounds" complicated or deep, it's simply you ( or the og reddit poster) chasing losses. He couldn't accept the fact that he lost, and since he had funds to gamble more (regardless of where it came from), he's simply going to continue till he is satisfied.

A closure, imo, is something that you chase when you can't understand something. The end result MAY be you still being unable to understand, but at least you looked up enough to the point where it wouldn't matter een if you look for more. Gambling isn't like that, it's easy to understand with clear cut rules and probability range (look it up, there's a lot of math nerds out there).
1279  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do you think about this? on: March 26, 2023, 10:33:52 AM
Saw this in another post earlier (or yesterday I think). I'd say they're free to gamble imo, just that my say in this actually has no implications whatsoever since what they follow is the doctrine of whatever religion they follow (and I'm not really that religious of a person). I don't think anyone has any right to "reject" a person to gamble just based on their beliefs, but that's up to them, I myself am completely fine with anyone gambling really.

I'd say it's unethical to gamble when the doctrine they follow strictly says not to, and even if it doesn't explicitly state it, gambling is mostly frowned upon by a majority (if not all) of religions so just the act of thinking about it is enough to label someone as unethical, especially in the case of a pastor which is a leading person in any religion. Honestly wouldn't let this affect you if you're not that religious, and if you are, just label them as unethical. That's all one can do anyway, there isn't any law stating that unethical gambling should be followed by an arrest after all.
1280  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do we build a strong community of supporters for crypto projects ? on: March 26, 2023, 05:28:36 AM

Unlike Bitcoin that created the cryptocurrency world with an unimaginable fan base, most altcoins have to do tons of work to earn all users' trust to flourish, especially for countless new projects. I believe each of you has been supporter to at least one cryptocurrency and know how that relationship works. There must be some appealing ways for crypto community to do to attract more fans. In your experience, what are the most important principles to build a strong community of supporters ? Please share your thoughts and/or methods. By the way, I am with FireDAO team, in charge of the global community. Please contact me if you have any question.
Probably the easiest way to attract a community towards your project if is some sort of hype that was centered around your project came to be. Now, this produces a group of users who would probably leave after that hype, but some may still choose to stay and that's your goal. But ofc, if everyone chooses to stay then all the better. Most people would stay if your project actually holds value now, or at least in the near future. A communicative team as well as public updates here and there would always stoke their thirst for news with regard to the project.

It's going to take time, but that's just how it goes. Especially if you don't play around the hype train and just choose to go with the flow, influx of people interested will be really slow.
