1281  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: miner for CryptoNight on: March 23, 2015, 08:25:21 AM
Hello
Somebody heard about minirs for algorithm of CryptoNight(XMR, FCN, DSH, INF8) similar on ebay ?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gridseed-GC3355-ASIC-Scrypt-SHA-256-USB-Dual-BTC-LTC-Miner-Silver-GUARANTEED-/331330653898?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d24d88eca

Or the mining only by use of GPU and CPU is now possible ?
Thanks !

There is no ASIC h/w for mining XMR/Cryptonote coins. The only way to do so is via CPU/GPU. From GPUs I got the best performance with Nvidia cards on minergate's native miner (windows 8.1, 64bit) while on CPUs the absolute best miner is Claymore's miner (again on win8.1, 64bit). I'm getting about 200H/s on an i5 and about 400H/s up for an i7.

You can find Claymore's CPU miner here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=647251.0
You can find Claymore's GPU miner here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=638915.0

and Minergate here:

Cheers.

In about Less than 16 hours and we will know the result of the poll - yet depending on the time and the timezone that we are using to pin point...

Floating around $270... but we could get a little BTC price booster, maybe?

I think we already know (at least in EU). It's Monday morning here already Grin. But -to be serious- I don't think we're going to stay in these prices for long. After the calm there's always a storm (and I don't mean yesterday's weak pump). Let's see.

wasn't trying to insult "bulltards" I am super long, always have been, day traded once and did great, day traded once more and lost everything I'd gained. Considered a 0% adjustment actually to be pretty lucky and never did it again.

Still keep lurking on this stupid thread tho Sad

It's been some time since someone managed to insult me, it's -nearly- impossible even on a thread full of trolls like this. So no insult taken. Besides, every single one of us has the ability to certify himself as an expert in TA. I have vigorously denied such a title myself, but it seems I'm among the very few (single one?) here... Tongue

Spooderman, I'm not certified as a Bulltard for I rarely will buy on a rally. I'm certified as a Perma-Hodler though which is somewhat more extreme. Grin

Edit: It seems we only had about 6K market buy on Finex that drove us up $8. Well. Meh. Sad

Me too

LFC: It's been sometime I've been in the UK. Maybe if we CCMF more, we'll meet for a pint mate (or 2, or 3, or... Tongue )

Fuck it. I will post one!  Grin

i see a likely path towards extended life beginning with genetic manipulation prior to birth , basically turning off aging related genes , which is something that has been demonstrated already in lab settings - this might double individual human life expectancy , pushing us into the 150 yr land ... this would be possible within the relatively near future , say , 50-100 years or so , depending on general public sentiment / laws regarding human genome modification ... but wouldn't help anyone live longer who aren't embryos ... meanwhile advances in more traditional medicine the simple ability to treat ailments and diseases , the possibility to print or grow replacement organs might up that 150 to 200 ... beyond that , there really wouldn't be another option that wouldn't be "invasive" so we'd be looking first at internal cybernetics , since we kindof already have some advances in that department , pacemakers , artificial hips , etc - essentially you'd be looking at supplemental artificial organs to further extend life ... nano-tech to support cell function and immune system would probably be next , mostly because you could still look like a non-modified human being ... next up would be external cybernetics , depending on people's willingness to become more and more machine than man out of desire for extra years of life ... this could push life expectancy anywhere from 300-1000 years ... who knows how long it'd take to develop tech like that ... but at some point you'd resemble a head on a robot/cyborg body , more or less... the step of mapping every neuron and the movement of all the electrical impulses of a human brain in real time AND having the ability to transfer a copy of that exact pattern into a sufficiently advanced artificial brain is probably the furthest down the timeline , by a lot ... probably none of us will ever see the day that any of these possibilities becomes a reality , with the possible exception of having great grandchildren that'll live to be 150 ...

I totally disagree.

I tend to disagree with the majority of arguments that are posted there. This is either posted by a man that hasn't been reading the (scientific) news since 1960, or refuses to accept them. Seriously man, WTF! There is a button on the keyboard called "ENTER". Look (I will press it now 2 times):

You see? This is called a paragraph! (I will now press it another time)

Yet another paragraph! Please use it the next time, it's getting really hard to follow up with your comments FGS!  Grin

7 billion mofos on the planet and "eternal life desirable for society?".
U w0t m8?

I think it might even be possible eventually, but definitely not desirable IMHO. Fuck no.

By the way, some species ARE immortal:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMOkXkw5TKc

Fact is, there is probably no stopping it.

Besides, having driven across several continents, I can confirm there is more than enough room and empty space.  We just need to be more civilised and become better at using resources.

*Slightly* off topic, but this is the global trend here on this wall, so please allow me to express myself:

1. Aging is nothing but degradation of our DNA information via replication of our cells. We happen to age every single second, mind you. When the DNA chain reaches the end, due to the disability of our mechanism to reproduce its cells without errors, we have the telomerase that is nothing more than Poly-A chains to eliminate the duplication errors. During our lifespan, those chains are getting shorter and shorter while the duplication reproduces more "errors" due to lack of them.

TL;DR: More Telomerase = More life.

2. What is life? What is the difference from your life and mine for example? The answer is simple. It's our memories. Memories are stored into our brains via biologic synapses which (in essence) are not very good way to store information. But this is what we got. I presume it won't be hard for next gen (quantum? ) computers to be able to "store" the memories of a person inside their "hard drive". The tech is already here - we now know what our brainwaves look like when we ie: move our hands, that's how scientists are able to produce bionic legs and hands and the person who "wears" them is able to control them via their brains.

3. Evolution NEEDS immortality (or if you prefer infinite lifespan). It's the way that we humans can evolve to better beings and develop our "next" versions. This is feasible right now (in theory) via several ways. I'd say we're in infancy regarding the tech we need to "make it happen" but "we know it's there".

Question is: Will we be here to see it happen? Or some redneck will "press the button" and "restart" the engine? It would be so pity.

LambTroll stuff

It was the same for us regulars back in 2013 (August-September). Then we went boom. What can I say? You're a special case, that's for sure. Starting a new account just to post the same trolling stuff? Looks like an automated process. Are you a bot? And if you are, can you please tell me... do you dream of electric sheep?

Thanks Smiley

It seems that XMR follows right behind the DRK pump today (Poloniex). I presume we're heading for upper levels (for this 0.003 must become support). Let's see... Roll Eyes

Some choose to not believe anything that anyone says.

And what do you say?

(you gotta be highly suspicious of the group that shout the loudest, especially if they are pretending to be do-gooders out to "help and inform you" they claim they are not effected in anyway, but just on a mission to convince you of their truth. Empires have always claimed to be bringing civilisation to the savages, for their own betterment of course)

TL/DR Trust NO ONE

This involves the danger of being isolated and -believe me- this won't help you evolve (not personally speaking). A group of "not so trusted" people are much better than a "trusted" one when it comes to progress. Besides, all the great achievements are based on a "quantum leap of faith". Yes, there's the danger of you getting burned by your "entrusted" ones, but imho, it worths the risk.

I'm not sure if anyone posted this yet:

Credit Suisse Publishes Paper on Bitcoin: Explores Integration with Traditional Financial System
by GIULIO PRISCO on MARCH 20, 2015 4
Mainstream banks and financial institutions are warming up to Bitcoin and digital blockchain-based fintech,
often with a surprisingly positive and open-minded attitude.

In a recent research paper titled “One Bank Research Agenda,” the Bank of England said that Bitcoin could
reshape the financial industry and called for further research to devise a system that could use distributed
ledger technology without compromising a central bank’s ability to control its currency.

Do the Swiss know more than the rest, or are the others just dumb?  Undecided

Recently a close friend of mine asked me how she could acquire some xmr. I agreed to get some for her, but should I instead have replied, "oh, monero isn't popular enough among crypto geeks for you to be able to buy it with your dollars. Instead you have to buy this other much more popular crypto first, and then trade it on a complicated exchange that won't make sense to regular folks like yourself"?

Valid point IMO.

Even something like retail prepaid cards would be much better.

Isn't there the ability to buy via USD into Poloniex? Never used it but I guess this is an option (I've even seen the deposit column). I'd bet it's feasible.
1295  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 20, 2015, 10:26:12 PM
Monkey thinks price will be downish until Monday-Wednesday turn starts a steady upward move, but 250 will hold the bottom.

I ask again, has your monkey got this bitcoin thing down yet?  I know he/she was a bit weak several months ago.

Definitely improving.  This year he wanted me to buy at 200 on 1/20, and at 215 on 2/10, then wanted me to sell at 292 on 3/11.
I wasn't paying attention at the time, though.  Right now, intraday, he thinks it goes up for an hour or two, then pulls back.  He
sees near-term resistance at 272 and support in the 242-253 range, pegs daily support at 236-245, and says it will turn up by
Tuesday.  (He's constantly adjusting, until he makes a buy or sell signal, then he stands pat and lets price decide if he was
right or wrong.)

On a weekly basis he says the buy point was 2/1, expects a few more weeks of up-trend, and again sees resistance at 378-380,
but allows that it may not turn, but only take a correction, to end the contiguous trend.

Long term projection?

Date Registered:   February 10, 2011, 03:17:51 PM

and you are asking a monkey for a long term projection?  Grin

I have no doubts, do you?

LOL on the comment. I would like to buy/rent your monkey. I bet he's a better trader than what I am. Every single time I tried it ended up to a disaster Tongue

PS: Seriously, is this for sale? Wink
1296  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 20, 2015, 10:20:25 PM
I'm not trying to be funny but how does the current order book justify the current price?

Pretty funny actually

Yep, tons of longs, its time for the last market raping.

Ok. I 'm not a trader, so I won't pretend that I understand this chart (I don't) but what exactly the long/swaps have to do with the price is beyond my imagination. Is there a way for someone who possesses those to turn it (somehow) to BTCs? Is this a leveraged trading indicator (ie: the guys who bet that USD/BTC will be higher? ). If someone has the knowledge, please share for an ignorant chap.

Thanks Smiley

Hmmm. Seems suspiciously quiet for a Friday. Were bitcoin traders scared off by the eclipse??

Little or no volume all morning. Something big is going to happen soon. Its gotta!!  Grin

We have a total eclipse of trading...  Grin But not for long. Something tells me we won't stay low for long, the coming week, or the next one will bump again. I can't tell for sure where to though... Undecided

Tarmi, have you closed your short yet?
I felt pretty good about closing my $290 short at $260 (~10%) this morning. How much bigger of a profit are you looking for in one trade?

no.

What's your target? $240? $220?

not telling you, sorry.
Haha, you're not sorry  Tongue

I think the uptrend will resume after the fast dump yesterday. BTW: I closed my shorts at about $10. It was about 3 years ago if I recall correctly. Tongue
