If you are considering hiring an electrician to install a dedicated outlet(s) for you mining rig there are a few things to consider.

It will be less expensive for an electrician to install a single 240v outlet for your equipment rather than standard outlets, however the items to connect your equipment to your outlet is less common and usually more expensive with 240v

Unsure what you meant by the above comment?
Our american standard 240 volt plug is NOT the same in any means as what they use in the UK....

I also don't understand how it's any cheaper? your running 12/3 you can get a single 240 volt plug, Or you can get 2 120 volt plugs on different breakers and phases. Same amount of wire, and a 20 amp 120volt plug is cheaper than a 240volt plug. As well as the 2 20 amp breakers are cheaper than a 240volt 20 amp breaker....

We are launching a small Winnipeg based Co-op In the new year which won't help you now, but in the future. PM me if interested.
1323  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Power Supply to Overclock Prospero X-3? on: December 18, 2013, 03:00:00 AM
In the UK they use 200 volt over two pins, because a and b phase are not in sync they can be shared.

In north america we don't do that. we use two seperate pin's for 220,

in reality you could jsut splice, but that fucks your whole house up.

You need to buy an adapter, converter or what ever. It's NOT cheap to run a 200 volt plug in north america.

Just get a 20 amp plug in and be done with it.

Your electrical company does not charge you by the amp, but by the Kw. This is an equation from volts/amps drawn. so as voltage increases, amps do indeed decrease but your Kw hours stay the same.

Not worth the money Wink

Donations to my wallet are always welcome. lmao  Grin

I'm an aircraft electrician I work with 300 volts 3 phase regularly.

I'll leave this open another day or two. But Ya you pretty much nailed it!
1325  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Raspberry Pi.... how reliable is it? on: December 17, 2013, 06:35:37 PM
I run minepeon on one of mine that runs BFL SCs, never had a problem with it.

Code:
[minepeon@minepeon ~]$ uptime
 15:18:42 up 75 days, 20:48,  2 users,  load average: 2.19, 1.88, 1.87

I also use a RPi as a home entertainment center running raspbmc, and never had a problem with that one either. Just make sure you get good class 10 SD cards.

This is what I want, a way to run 3 or 4 of these in my home, with XBMC, I'll check out what you suggest, I guess than you just need some sort of an IR sensor for a remote Smiley
1326  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin blockchain data torrent on: December 17, 2013, 06:15:43 PM
It's to bad this is considered a public torrent, My Seed box won't allow me to seed it Sad

I'm trying to figure out where the damn file goes though lol

I do like the blue better, and like it as a whole, Would need to drop a Server or rig setup behind it for the main page image.

BTW site's online

That's really cool MAtt, but can I suggest you guy's answer questions and details about your current pre order product's before advertising new product Smiley

Any more word on the over clocking ability of these rigs? or what sort of upgrade will be needed?

pushing these to 2.5Th would make our returns that much greater!

this is from the BA site and they have also made it clear that PSU that comes with the unit will NOT support overclocking so you would need to replace that at least, cooling will also be an issue and if you start getting a large increase in rejected shares it maybe pointless.

"It has been designed to be:

Over-clocked with around 20%. Increasing the voltage might be required. If voltage is increased, the efficiency will drop.
Under-clocked to obtain better efficiency you can drop the voltage. If the voltage is dropped the clock frequency will have to be dropped resulting in slower hashing speeds."

I'm aware of their website.. But "Designed to be" and actually doing is not the same. They don't know for sure if or how much.. At leas tnot according to the website. I'm asking if anything more has been figured out. Or if they know what sort of PSU upgrade would be required.
1330  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Qt Bitcoin Trader [Open Source secure trading client for Mac/Windows/Linux] on: December 17, 2013, 03:49:06 PM
I realize this is likely been asked, and your priority is to stabalize the current version, but any plans to support Alt coin trading within BTC-e in the future.

Love this app, build an android add-on Cheesy

It already supports BTC-e

.... Unless I'm missing something it does not support Alt Coin trading from BTC-E? Or am I missing an option? Mine only show's usd/BTC, would be nice to see it list what I could have for alt's as well etc.
1331  Economy / Services / Re: 0.04 BTC Reward for Logo/graphic. on: December 17, 2013, 03:40:23 PM
Something a bit different maybe? Smiley

I Like that one actually, although not what I wanted, A server could be added for the home page of the site, and removed for logo use. Hmm

He's top pick so far Smiley
1332  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Power Supply to Overclock Prospero X-3? on: December 17, 2013, 03:35:38 PM
It appears to me the x-3 for example simply has 20 minions inside and configured, I guess off an internal router? not sure how they are doing it. So can't see why you could run half off a secondary PSU and overclock. But Cooling will be key, they are in a enclosed case. So probably reached their limits of cooling. Time to modify the case Smiley

1334  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / realistic UPS for GPU miners? on: December 17, 2013, 02:22:56 PM
Looking at getting some miners up and running. And presently I live on a farm. The power here seldom goes out. But it's known to flicker enough to knock clocks out of sync etc.

With such heavy power draw from the gpu miners. What's the most effecient ups out. That could handle a 1500w or greater psu. Say a 6 card setup.

Something rack mount would be real nice.
1335  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Motherboard designed for mining, and better riser cables in this thread. on: December 17, 2013, 02:19:04 PM
I really want those usb risers. I hope they get cheaper.

I plan to build three rigs with 6 pcie and only use four cards each. Expand quickly once I know I'm stable.
1336  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: About those USB Block Eruptors on: December 17, 2013, 03:55:06 AM
Those sold for 6 bucks few months back, people sell them for this much because other people are morons. and can't do simple math like you just did.

If someone's willing to pay me $500 for a sandwich. Who am I to say no?
1337  Economy / Services / Re: 0.04 BTC Reward for Logo/graphic. on: December 17, 2013, 12:22:51 AM
Gettin there. Think icecles is what I'm feeling.
Hmm
1338  Economy / Services / Re: 0.04 BTC Reward for Logo/graphic. on: December 16, 2013, 07:36:13 PM
Both of those are the style I'm thinking but I'm looking for a realistic or Real pic of the server for sure Smiley and Need's to be covered in ice. Enough to show it's frozen but not enough to hide it's a server.

Deadline, not really, when I find one I like haha Smiley
1339  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: WHAT! :( Butterfly Lads won't deliver the Monarch Till March or April:( on: December 16, 2013, 07:02:21 PM
How is KNC able to set a date for delivery and meet that date and BFL has never been able to be on time?

Some people suck more than others?
1340  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Black Arrow announces 28nm 100Ghash Bitcoin ASIC from $1.49/Ghash on: December 16, 2013, 05:19:57 PM
Hmm wonder if they need a Canadian Reseller Cheesy
