i should will use paperclip  Roll Eyes

i dont think you are understanding where to put the paperclip.. it is described on the first page how to set these up.. you dont have to make it so long tho.. i just used about 10mm of wire.

c.  As for the PC power supply, you will need 1 jumper wire to short the Power-Supply- On (active low) pin-Green to GND-Black to switch power supply ON, disconnect from GND to switch OFF.

why is better just wire than paperclip ?

most easy is paperclip

No one cares what you use
It's low current
Roll up a piece of foil if you want. Stop over complicating this and trying to be a pain in the ass.
For that matter you can cut the wire's off the back of the plug and twist them together.

I have an Ant S3+
That I can access, log into, but both boards will not come online.
No red LED's on the inside,
I've popped it open, cables look secure. No noticable issues on the boards. I can Web login, set my miner etc.

Anything I should look for? Is it cooked?

Well, that was easy
I swapped the board with a control board that only had a single working blade, and boom online.

So I clearly had a bad controller.

Now to see what happens if I put it witht he one who had an offline blade

EDIT:
So yup, controller board is dead, have a bad board and a bad blade.

What does a new control board cost? does bitmain sell them?

Return and repair takes some time.  I think I'd first check continuity between the ribbon cable pins and destinations.  Perhaps not all points can be seen.  Is it always the same side?  If you put a single board to the left (looking at the RJ45 port) does chain# 1 show working ASICs?  When you connect 2 boards which chain works? When you have a single board connected chain#1 is on the left.  When you have two boards connected chain#1 is on the right and chain #2 on the left.

Isolate specifically which ribbon cable connector to investigate first.

Also you can take the controller board out into bright sunshine and go over it with a dental pick looking for metal or solder balls that don't belong.

I do aircraft electrical repair, so I'm good at desnaging until I get to the circuits lol.
I move the board to another ant, new cables. No good.
So it's the board for sure, wish I new test points or what I was looking for. but I don't feel like poking around with a meter on a working board lol

Not sure how bitcoin core will be maintained AFTER one year Oliveir's donation ends.
I think that industry has to pick up the slack or 10% of miners fees have to be allocated to maintaining the core PLUS fees has to increase approximately three-fold, which is unfortunate, but doable.

Barely even feel it

Back on Topic.

SPONDOOLIE! UPDATES!?!?!?
645  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Block Erupter Prisma (>=1.4 T/device, 0.75-0.78 W/G, <1 BTC/T, October Shipping) on: April 04, 2015, 07:20:02 PM
update :

1. We have lost contact with Friedcat more than 40 days, we are now still focusing on finding him.
2. A lot of evidences we have found shows that he is safe, which is the only good news recently. In addition, all rumour around the community are baseless and untrustworthy. We know so far nothing about where has he been and where is he at the moment.
3. We have to focus on finding him currently so there are indeed some delay on replying email of sale@bitquan.com. However, since we have all records of your emails so it is only a problem of time, please understand and be patient.
4. AMHASH project is not from sale team of ASICMINER, we know nothing about the deal between Friedcat and ROCKMINER, no one else has seen the contract between them either ,therefore, we sale department of ASICMINER is not be in charge of AMHASH project, please be patient to wait till we find FC.

So Basically The company is a shit show, falling apart, and no one should give these guys a penny ever again.
Interesting.
646  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S3 Help?? on: April 04, 2015, 07:06:21 PM
I'm in need of an S3+ Controller, do you sell these alone for people to repair?

S3+ are 453GH/S (up to -5%) is advertised spec and Bitmain stands behind that spec for 90-day warranty.

There are many S3 (418-440GH) version being sold in the market by the third party and some defective items being sold with false warranty claims (false claims that Bitmain will provide warranty)

Where did you purchase your S3+?

If it is within 90-day from the factory shipping date and you are the original purchaser, please contact techs via support@bitmain.zendesk.com or +1-844-248-6246 option 2

Please try to empty your browser cache, if that won't fix, please roll back to the firmware that worked.

After multiple FW updates and attempts, the miner status page shows the following

Quote
/usr/lib/lua/luci/dispatcher.lua:448: Failed to execute cbi dispatcher target for entry '/admin/status/minerstatus'.
The called action terminated with an exception:
/usr/lib/lua/luci/controller/cgminer.lua:32: bad argument #1 to 'floor' (number expected, got string)
stack traceback:

   /usr/lib/lua/luci/dispatcher.lua:195: in function </usr/lib/lua/luci/dispatcher.lua:194>

Huh I can firmware reboot back and get it fixed temporarily.

Any thoughts on this one? I have two doing this after updating to the latest firmware. Tried updating back without any help in fixing it.

Had to roll this one back to the original firmware according to what your site lists.
The latest firmware caused two of my machines to do this. so I won't be updating.
It amazes me how wide of an operating window the S3's run at.
Not a single one has touched 500, seen two S3+ hit 450, most are a good deal under 400, averaging 350.
Starting to sense a bit of false advertising in the Bitmain business model.

Most unit should be facing, the hashing PCB with 1 extra thin & short cable (NOT THE FAT DATA CABLE) to the control PCB is CHIAN 1

The PCB without the think cable is CHAIN 2

I would say double check the connections.

Power it off and let it sit for 5-10 minutes and power it back on, is another option that may work.

Else, hashing PCB or the port on control PCB could be bad, or the FAT Datacable.

Not so common but it does happen.

Edit: two part question

How do I know which blade is which, I seem to have two S3+ each with an offline or maybe dead blade, for now I'd like to put them together.

So take the top off, ethernet port facing me, looking down on it. is it 1 than 2, left to right, or 2 to 1?

Thank You!

Run the miner, the dead blade will be the one that's not hot.
Ah, good idea.
Is it common? maybe a lose cable to look for? or do blades drop out often?

Thank you

Oh, tried every angle of powering and powering off. lol. No joy, opening them up tomorrow.
Two S3's with downed blades.
and Two of them are not responding for the web interface, it starts to load than dies off, thoughts on that? it finds teh initial load page, than faults to no domain found?

I have an S3, which shows on the network. ip ends in 144.
If I goto the ip for this miner. I get the

I'm not sure what to do, seems maybe software corruption?
