Great news guys.
Canaan removed BTC service fee.
Hi, thanks for your order again! And, it is great you are helping #growtheblockchain. We have learned from our first week of sales. We removed our BTC service fee moving forward. Let us know when you are ready to place your next order. Thanks again for being one of the first AvalonMiner 721 customers!
Jon
Also, I am getting my miners tomorrow. Wohooo
Ah the joy of buying early a 25 usd fee lost. Wow. What an EPIC failure on Canaan's part. Well they sent me an email I will get 25 usd off the next order I have received a few pm's about moq for price breaks. 50-100 size order may or may not be good enough for a discount. I helped sell 40+ avalon 6's last year but this is not the same. I am not interested in shipping 50 to 100 pieces to my home in NJ, USA. It would be certain I would be subject to fees for importing 50 K worth of gear to my house. Last year I did the two group buys with zero profit for me. But it was San Francisco to NJ no import issues. I will use my two and may take them up on a 25 dollar refund for the next miner. I thought another member attempting a group buy was told less than 1000, use website? Are you getting different info?

Your big concern with the setup, I think is that you want to have an in and out fan beside each other, Your best bet will be to pipe in the outside air to the back side of the room. You could likely run 2 5" dryer liners in over and down the back wall, and get away with a large exhaust fan.
As for the CFM you are after, you will never get a silent version. That's going to be hella noisy lol
Yes let me just explain to my landlord why i want to take down a wall from his apartment so i can have two windows And i never said silent, two box fan at full speed arent silent at all and the CFM is plenty, they just dont have enough pressure so a bit of wind and BAM they basically stop their spin. A metal equivalent with more angled blade would be quieter, but much more performant! I'm sorry did I say take down a wall??? If you are going to be rude, read the fucking comment. I said pipe the fan for intake an exhaust to different parts of the room. That's a matter of running a line, not using a second window. I also stated use a furnace fan, but I see you thank someone else for that. I'm done helping. Good luck

reconnect the wire.. and stop cutting random wires. It will drive the fan, but then cuts off the sensing to said fan so it's unsure of the fans rpm, thinks it's off, and shuts down the miner
|
|
|
Not sure if the wire you are putting it too is high enough gauge for a single strand..
|
|
|
This has been beat to death, no real solutions thus far aside from bypassing and direct wiring the fans control. Which leaves it blaring 24/7

I think op is referring to escrow for the btc, not the paypal...

Seeing as a hash board is 1/3 the miner cost.. $550 new usd give or take. If they will repair the board for around $200, then a member buying broken boards is able to just get them refurbished.
Your better off having them fixed, rather then buy new!

Seems another member tried this, you only get bulk after 1000 units are purchased, so no joy in the discount there guys

Incase anyone was wondering. The S9 can be made quieter if you want to underclock it. I've got mine running at 200m pulling 430w at the wall getting 4.2Th and it's nicely located under my desk.
this only works on the old versions of the s9. on the new batches you cant control the speed of the fans or the speed of the miner unfortunately. unless u do what i mentioned in previous posts but that only works for the fan not the miner speed. The latest firmware let's you sit the freq on firmware install... so it can be done still so you have an autofreq s9 and when you set the freq it actually sets it and runs at that freq? because what i have seen the manual freq only works on the pre auto tune miners and doesnt apply the freq to the non auto tune boards..... The LATEST, s9 firmware, allows you to set the operational FREQ at install. so in theory you could set a 14th S9 to run at 9TH. and underclock it... I have not played with this yet The selection I got for freq was 550 or 600 or 650. I'm not sure you can set it to whatever you want? I have not played with it yet, as I'm happy with how mine is working on older FW. Maybe those are the only options? but then someone with a 14th machine could clock it down, but if you had the lowest already, maybe not?

The hardware is more defunct than the company, You could try solo mining, if you have free power, otherwise, it makes an okay doorstop.

What coins were worth mining as an early investment or how do you know which are good for an early investment. By that I mean. Mining and staking coins before they on the market or even getting in first with pow coins and mining before the huge hash powers get involved.
I know there is also hi-pow with big rewards per block for early miners and ot will be lower difficulty. So which coins out there work that way ? Because when you hire a miner you lose money unless you do what I'm trying to and get in as one of the first investors and mine while its easy to get ahead start.
This is a bitcoin mining forum, please check the alt coins forums for info on alts.

If you are running the fans in the same window, use part of a large cardboard appliance (refrigerator) box to separate the two airflows bot into and out of the room. Direct the cooling airflow towards your GPUs and away from the exhaust fan's intake side. You will also want to make the exhaust fan move more air than the intake air fan. This will create a low pressure inside the room making the outside air "want" to come into the room. See if you can find some vortex style fans, e.g.: https://www.lowes.ca/portable-fans/ecohouzng-ct4005g-16-in-high-velocity-air-circulator_g2458336.htmlYou can also try to find smaller diameter drum fans: https://www.lowes.ca/portable-fans/utilitech-pro-sfdc2-600t-pro-24-in-2-speed-high-velocity-fan_g1476641.htmlFor these last two suggestions you will need to fabricate some kind of adapter (cardboard and duct tape work well), but it open up more possibilities. see if you can find air movers/blowers like this: https://www.homedepot.ca/en/home/p.1625-cfm-three-speed-air-mover.1000720712.htmlAlternatively see if you can find whole house forced hot air/air conditioner system air blowers. They tend to move a lot of air and are quiet. I used a 24" drum fan in my basement garage this past summer when the room (35' x 55') flooded. It moved a lot of air and dried things out quickly, but the downside, on high speed it made a significant amount of noise. We didn't mind because we could close the door to the basement. Your neighbors probably wouldn't be too happy with you, though. Yes good idea, A replacement furnace fan etc. will take a bit more to rig up, but move a lot of air and do not make much noise.

To bad the controller boards were not easy to get. Once could effectively pull the three blades out and make 3 individual 4TH miners, that would be cooler, custom cooling system. And spread out the heat. Hmm... Where could someone buy the controllers?

We haven't decided any numbers yet, but bitshopper and I are definitely working together on this one.
I know you are not after investors, But why not guess at a price, and let us donate those funds, if it pulls through you credit us toward the product, If you can't make it, then we realize the investment is a loss. Not many would go for this, but I would, I could spare some btc with the potential plan to get a product. I've been in riskier investments then you

I hope for a new release too. There is a market for a silent miner.
I feel like the real miners don't really care about a bit of noise lol and I say that because if you're really in it to make money you are going to need a lot of miners and a professional operation so noise is not going to be a big concern of yours. Just my opinion. The point of the R4 was to build a miner that could be run by the home miner enthusiast. That's it. Let's face it, home miners haven't made a profit for some time. It's just not possible. Still, there is a market here. I don't understand why being a real miner must = noisy and hot. They clearly did it with the R4 at just 3 TH/s less than the base S9. There is a huge market of people that would dip their feet in for something like the R4. Many that have next to free power could make this profitable from home in 6-7 months. Because for every 10 home buyers that buy one or two, there's 100 places buying 500 s9's. Spondoolie proved it with the sp20, individual customers are a pain in the ass and a loss of money..
