421  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: EVGA/PSU what pins to jump for power? on: December 09, 2016, 07:08:13 PM
They could, but I've seen things online even easier.

Such as this
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/USR-WIFIIO-83-8-CHANNEL-WIFI-RELAY-BOARD-SUPPORT-ANDROID-IPHONE-WINDOWS-AND-MAC-/201154158514?hash=item2ed5b8dfb2:g:lIUAAOSwd4tT9VIy

But it ued a common ground.
But would be perfect really.
422  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: EVGA/PSU what pins to jump for power? on: December 09, 2016, 06:59:24 PM
With my EVGA it just had a 24pin plug with the jumper wire attached. No extra mess. But since then I've made my raspi gekko Rig and using it via an ATX breakout board and voltage converter.
I have the same cable, but it's big and takes up space,
My OCD kicks in and I feel all that wire can be replace with a short jumper.

I'm also trying to find a wired or wireless relay controller to make this a switchable device, which I can do remotely, preferably from anywhere in the world
423  Economy / Computer hardware / WTB Wifi PSU switch? on: December 09, 2016, 06:46:11 PM
Looking for a wired or wireless relay that can be accessed from a phone,
Wired would be best.

Looking for a way to remotely power down my miners, preferably by controlling the 5VDC power line for the PSU.
Something with a good controller/app so I can be sure I can access it away from home, not just from within my home network.

Would like to pay btc, and have it soon.
Ship to Canada
424  Bitcoin / Hardware / EVGA/PSU what pins to jump for power? on: December 09, 2016, 06:37:30 PM
I know the EVGA has a jumper for the cable, I've used this.
but it's a lot of extra crap for nothing.

Does anyone have a pic or can tell me which pins directly on the PSU itself need to be jumped?
I've traced the wire's back but am not 100% I've got the right pins.

Seems simpler and cleaner to me to just do it this way.

Thanks

EDIT:
Found this pic online

Is it the green PS-On you short to ground? or the PWR-ok?
425  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [MODDING STUFF] Custom Sleeving on: December 09, 2016, 06:32:16 PM
Do you carry stuff like this?
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/1-meters-Black-Red-High-Densely-10mm-Expanding-Matte-Braided-Sleeving-Cable-/151772289510?hash=item23565559e6:g:gPIAAOSwLVZVvy2X
what sizing would I need if I want to wrap PCI-E cables?
426  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [MODDING STUFF] Custom Sleeving on: December 09, 2016, 06:29:10 PM
Those are pretty awesome.
I like that cabling. Will keep this in mind for future mods
427  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Announces the Antminer R4 and APW5 Power Supply, Designed for Silence on: December 09, 2016, 04:27:01 PM
Are they still accepting payment via wire transfer. I placed my order on the 2nd of Dec paid via bank transfer. My order was expired after 3 days after contacting them I got replied that they don't accept wire transfer anymore. Has anybody got the same problem? Or has anybody got refunded after paying via wire transfer.

There was Wire transfer option available at the Bitmain Store checkout.

Not anymore they are only accepting bitcoins.

My bet is these are let over, or units that didn't meet spec.. maybe hashnet surplus, and they are wanting to keep the sales off the books lol
428  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: December 09, 2016, 03:59:54 PM
Tim for BITMAIN to release a 30TH 4U rackmount unit!
Bit better build quality please..

SP50 dreams live...via Bitmain? Possible, but shipping is a problem.

3 s9s running off a 4k DPS-2500 is really close to that dream.

To all those that fear no new gear if bit-main cuts off sales buy from Avalon or bitfury as they will have some for sale.

I think what we won't see for two years is a 0.05 watt miner
With some crafty engineering you could do this,
It would be nice to have 9 blades on one controller, in an enclosed 4u case, more fans, power supplies could be in a 2u rack etc.

I think cooling, ease of use. etc. would be pretty nice.
429  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: What is the power supply for AntMiner S7 ? on: December 09, 2016, 03:28:55 AM
This is covered everywhere.. but you won't need the 1600 I'd buy an evga 1300 for a noob though. Much easier..

431  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience is now dabbling with 16nm ASICs for new designs on: December 09, 2016, 03:20:26 AM
just awesome...thanks for the pics.
so...it would be wider, right?

don't want to spoil the mood, but , apparently, studies have shown that working more than 55-56hr/week is as productive as working 70 hr, which probably means that one just gets exhausted and not accomplish much in the 56-70hr area.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/on-leadership/wp/2015/08/24/working-more-than-55-hours-a-week-is-bad-for-you-in-many-ways
Note to myself (in grad school and during postdoc years): I surely wasted a lot of those 56-70hr periods then, would be better off doing more reading.

So your saying you should be able to pull 55hrs without a decrease in production huh?.....

Keep up the good work. Bitmain needs to be taken down a peg!

I'll probably talk to some of the same reviewers I talked to for the Compacs last year - people I trust whose opinions cover important aspects of a successful product. Phil is really good at understanding customer mindsets, guys like NotFuzzyWarm are well-rounded engineers, and CrazyGuy as a top reseller can comment on marketability.

Still available to manage Canada group buy if need be!  Wink

YES add me to a list, if I miss his first sales MESSAGE me I'm down for a bunch!!!!
432  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: December 08, 2016, 10:47:41 PM
The front was a Delta QFR1212GHE 12v 2.70A and the rear only had the markings "JSL" but no model number or even direction of flow.

A piece of additional info. Even though ive swapped them out for different ones the rear fan is still 120rpm faster than the front. Front 1800rpm - Rear 1920rpm set at 25% speed

What did you replace with? did I miss that?
Did you get rid of the wine with new fans?
433  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Announces the Antminer R4 and APW5 Power Supply, Designed for Silence on: December 07, 2016, 04:23:49 PM
I think this is a black and white argument and they should have no corner to cut. I am fine with they make money as long as it's justifiable, otherwise a plain fraud it is.

With all due respect, I think you are forgetting the current position of Bitmain. At the present time, they are a near monopoly on miners of this efficiency. If you don't like what they are charging, you are free to not buy from them. Unless and until there is a near alternative, they can get away with a lot that might otherwise be unacceptable.

A guy that is arguing that shipping fraud is OK because they are a monopoly.  Wow, just blows my mind that people will take this stance with any company.  It's because people like you that companies like this think it's OK to do and get away with it.  Congrats on being one of the people on this planet making it worse to live on.  You should be very proud.  If you see people doing wrong, you're one of the people that stand by and just accept it.  Wonder how far it goes before you grow a pair, but then it'll be too late of course.

Shipping fraud?
They charge you for shipping and handling.
No where does it say "thou shalt pay exact fedex price"
So there is no fraud.
They can charge you $120 for S&H on something that costs $2 to ship.
Still not fraud.

Try being a Canadian and ordering shit from ebay from the USA. Then you will see ridiculous shipping prices.
434  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: How could one disable the fans on an Antminer S7 on: December 07, 2016, 03:48:42 PM
I've recently swapped fans on my S9 for other delta models to reduce fan noise. I can safely say that when I swapped the existing rear Fan for a delta afb1212she it ran quieter and the Rpms were a lot lower.

My point is try a different fan as one that spins slower may well have better static pressure properties so may not causing the rebooting issue.
I'm really interested in the better fan?
we all know bitmain will buy the cheapest option that will do the job.
So I'm sure there exist, just as efficient or better fans
435  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience is now dabbling with 16nm ASICs for new designs on: December 05, 2016, 01:15:53 AM
Time's only one of the problems. Doing all the manufacture and maintaining a 100KW datacenter does eat up time, but that's only part of it. Waiting 2-3 weeks for a prototype PCB slows things down a bit. I know VH is putting all the time he can into it, but the lack of documentation on BM1384 stuff isn't helping his time efficiency a whole lot. I'm at the shop right now actually, bus-sniffing him some more data out of a makeshift S5 setup.

I'll probably start shopping around again for an affordable domestic prototyping place here soon, but right now where I'm getting 'em from is China (which sucks for a variety of reasons) because it's about 1/4 the cost of what I've seen in the US and to say I'm on a shoestring budget would be an insult to shoestrings.

Oh yes I'm just kidding. Greatly appreciate what you do, can't wait to support it! I've had stuff prototyped and built in the past, it is a nightmare, the waiting is the hardest part!

As for prototyping.. Ya see that all the time, china always cheaper.
And half the american companies probably outsource it to china anyway and triple the price lol.
436  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: I can't see the full picture here! on: December 04, 2016, 11:07:41 PM
Let's not forget the other part...
A lot of this is the hobby.. Breaking even is great.

But I know guys whos pend THOUSANDS a month on model trains etc... Soo.. take that into account.

Also,
Power supplies don't count. They can be reused on new hardware or resold for near cost.
And if you play it right you can sell used hardware off and recover 25% or so if you are lucky.

I also use mine in the winter, and replace my heating.
I use electric heat.. And these things can keep up with an equivalent space heater for power, or damn near.

So If I factor in my 8 cent CAD so 5 cent power. that most of that would be used for heat anyway, Maybe I'm burning an extra half a cent...

Lot's of factors.
If you are into buying off amazon, 10 cent USD power, and wanna make money.
You are probably SOL
437  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitmain has stopped (almost) selling bitcoin miners-why? on: December 04, 2016, 11:01:10 PM
They release them in batches
Likely they make (example numbers) 5000, they probably host half, and sell half to recover their costs.
My money is on them selling them for 2x what the cost to make is. lol

As another batch comes up. they sell again
Supply and demand, demand out weighs supply. So they are out of stock.
When a batch launches it sells out in an hour.
I just got one 2 weeks ago.

They still sell them.
438  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience is now dabbling with 16nm ASICs for new designs on: December 04, 2016, 10:53:15 PM
I think.. honestly the issue is. Sidehack is spending to much time sleeping.
6-8hrs is to much, a few 20 minute power naps is all you need sidehack.

Sleep when your dead! Cheesy
439  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BITMAIN announces Antpool on: December 04, 2016, 07:49:41 PM
any idea how to get remaining balances off the pool? address set, no longer mining, but won't withdraw? been a week..
