1321  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how bitcointalk forum operates on: August 27, 2022, 12:54:33 PM
I want to know how Bitcointalk forum works, in terms of merit, joining a campaign, rules and regulation.
You already have earned 5 merits so you might be aware about the same and now you only need 30 activity for your next rank of junior member but there are lot of such threads so avoid them at first.

Use search function or direct google optimized search is better for posts like this

Code:
 How to rank up bitcointalk
Merits system bitcointalk
Rules and regulations bitcointalk
Bounty campaign bitcointalk

So you will get your answers as soon as you try to find them out but if you really want to rank up on forum and learn new things joining bounty campaign is not the correct way and focus on quality posting and learning on the forum first of all rather then taking earning opportunities only.
1322  Economy / Gambling / Re: Roobet.com | Crypto’s Fastest Growing Casino 🦘 on: August 27, 2022, 12:42:42 PM
I’m not sure too about this because I’m not whales but some casino indeed requires KYC to user with huge amount of balance due to AML requirements. Some casino just manage to void it for whatever procedure they do to remove it to there license terms but in general AML policy this is required. You will notice this on ToS of online fiat casino that recently convert to crypto.
It's true that some gambling sites require gamblers to submit their KYC when withdrawing big amounts, but there are many other sites that don't require any form of KYC when withdrawing big amounts unless they found something suspicious.

I know some people who withdrew big amounts in this manner and never submitted KYC so far.
For sure there are some casino with zero KYC implementation while others have it so those who like complete privacy gamble over those casino withdrawing the big amounts also from there without any documents. But what I feel is in future this will be implemented on all casinos like many have done it under AML policies and other aspects.
1323  Other / Meta / Re: Bumping of sale threads with alts on: August 27, 2022, 12:30:30 PM
Is there any way to put a check on this ?
The forum don't have any specific features for checking this out but you need to do a manual check like if you are suspicious that alt account are bypassing this rule by bumping up the thread you can report them in this thread :   Re: Known Alts of any-one - A User Generated List Mk III (2020 Q1)

The other way around is reporting to the moderator and delete that post but you need to provide evidence in each case so you can check if they are using same address, telegram account or something similar in them which needs some investigation. As on mere speculation any action can't be taken.
1324  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: August 27, 2022, 12:18:17 PM
By far the most active member is a bot named ChartBuddy with 728 posts written during July, which is almost a double more than a 2nd most active member wrote. I will just share here top 10 and you can  find the rest at ninjastic.space
I completely forgot about him for a while and yes he will definitely on the top posting the depth charts for bitcoin prices on WO thread and others asking him to pump up the charts a little bit.He usually have such high number of posts each month but other members also spending quality time over forum is appreciable.

So the point is, the more I come here, the more I understand how the merit system works. I can never expect all of them to have the same ways and habits but I can expect them to do what is best for the community.
See this system has given all of us free choice to distribute smerits on the forum and there are many members including me also (not a source) who hands out 1-2 merit in each TX and if you think they are not distributing enough merits you can always report some good posts here for your local board that can help other sources to merit them if they understand the language.

Just to share, that all this effort was rewarded today, having reached the Legendary level.
I thank everyone for the help they gave, when creating content to comment and for the merits given.
Well deserved as you already have the merits for legendary rank you gained the required activity also so congratulations on your new rank man.

I am just curious to know how an account can be a bot and automatically post on bitcointalk.  Is there any method or script which makes this happens  Huh  I am not a programmatic tech so maybe I am not able to understand if this is a simple thing.
You can read about it here that how he managed to do automatic posting on the forum and is posting the price depths charts on WO thread on the forum.

There were some other members also doing bot posting like @LoyceV as he has mentioned in this thread also.

They use certain script for posting through bots and you can also use some if you want as it's allowed but only if you are sharing something useful.

Using bots is fine, just as long as they follow the rules. The sad truth is that most people use them to spam or plagiarise content, but there are genuine uses for them.

1326  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for August on: August 26, 2022, 12:14:18 PM
I don't get why some people always confuse sideways market with a "decline" or bear market. There is none of that. Price is still going up towards $25k and each time it fails to break that resistance it comes back down to $20k to repeat the same thing again.
A decline would be if price continued going down and set a new low every time it did. But it is obvious that price has not been going below $20k for the past 2+ months.
They don't have idea about the actual market conditions and goes with the same statements that are circulating around around. They ignore the volatility factor and always beleive it will go up and if it's down like say 2-3% also they start claiming it's going down but in reality we have seen some upward trends from few weeks but we will need major investments both retail and institutional for big boost because the market cap and price is too big for any changes like 10-15% price pumps also need heavy investment unlike shitcoins which are manipulated through centralised wallets only having most of the supply.

We are still in growing phase and soon we will see pumps coming to the market and resistance of the market is holding at $20-$22k levels at the moment but people who panic sell contribute worse to the situation and this is we have seen in past months which restricted prices to go up but still we are not so much down which they need to understand.
1327  Economy / Gambling / Re: Roobet.com | Crypto’s Fastest Growing Casino 🦘 on: August 26, 2022, 11:28:04 AM
I asked it on the chat. The minimum amount to tip is $10, and for the maximum, it seems that no one there knows exactly how much or if there any maximum tip. I think this topic hasn't been discussed much often here and even on Roobet chat.
If you want to learn much more about the specifics, maybe you should start asking their live chat support.
Yeah I know that the minimum limit is $10 but support team doesn't know about the same and have inquired about the same from them but was asking here from members if someone has experienced this situation so as to avoid any issue at all.
1328  Other / Meta / Re: Save your nice merit records here - LAST UPDATE: 08/08/2022 on: August 26, 2022, 11:17:15 AM
So another CM gang member has reached a nice merit milestone of 4848 merits and it's for @NeuroticFish and here goes his record:

Just few left to reach 5k merit milestone on the forum so congratulations to him for this and best wishes for the next record.
1329  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We are all Hodlonaut on: August 25, 2022, 01:14:52 PM
I find it nice and reassuring to see the support Hodlonaut has got. I've seen today on Twitter some lines on the matter, but I didn't know the background; thanks OP for this topic.
There seems to extensive support for this fight as yesterday my twitter feed was full of such tweets and there are some collection also being sold for the fund raise to help the legal filings of @hodlonaut for the case and it is really amazing to see such support from the people who understand the reality.

It would be interesting to see, but I don't have such high hopes...
They are really concerned with their own profits and fighting for the cases on them for being anti privacy exchange to pay off the damages to the users. So don't think they will ever come across such open statement to defend themselves and carry on with their personal profit growth only.

But it shouldn't matter. The burden on proof is on him to sign a message, not on Satoshi to sign a message calling him a fraud. If you make a claim like "I am Satoshi" and provide absolutely no hard evidence to support it, then you can and should be ridiculed for such a ridiculous claim. It's Russell's teapot. You make the claim, you prove it. The fact that he has been allowed to get this far with absolutely no evidence or proof is shocking, and partly the fault of the all the crypto "media" which keep giving him the spotlight, repeating his nonsense, and not calling out his lies for what they are.
That's the thing as he can't even sign a message from the address of genisis block or his PGP key which is why he tries this media shit to prove himself but in reality he has proven himself the clown he is who is making false claims only and can't prove anything and will never gain access to the funds he is looking for.The case he won is well known that how our judicial system can be financially manipulated but what after he runs out of funds and he can't prove anything? He will be behind the bars then.

He can try these shits like having paid person spreading rumour and trying to convince people in the shit they believe and we all know they are paid fake actors like him:

Source

So he is trying to prove himself what he is not and the only one basic thing he can't do already denies all the facts he made in front of people and the world will know his reality those are in his side will also move on.
1330  Economy / Gambling / Re: Rollbit.com | Crypto's Most Rewarding Casino 👑 on: August 25, 2022, 12:52:17 PM
Whenever you do experience loses then you wouldnt really get hurt that much or really that too impulsive since you do already have the budget but if you do fail into this manner or part
where emotions do play a great role then you would eventually failed up on following this kind of action. There's pro's and con's but it is totally
depending on you on how you do gonna deal on the situation.
In case of regular loss you must take a little break from gambling because when you tend to loose more and that also continuosly you start aggressive betting which could be risky as going over the limits in that cases is very normal thing and have seen people betting their whole month budget in one go only under such circumstances. So be in your limits and be responsible gambler.
1331  Other / Meta / Re: 2020 Merit Source Application - TheBeardedBaby. [reopened2022] on: August 25, 2022, 12:30:01 PM

Time to try my Luck again Smiley
You have been an active member of the forum from long and your contribution on the forum are also well known.

Don't know how many applications are pending for merit source on the meta board but still I support your application and hope @theymos see a need to increase the limit of merit sources as some of them are not active enough or sending relatively very low smerits so he must reconsider the merit source list and add one or two new to the forum.

Hi guys, quick note... 6 more predictions for our Bitcoin Predictor in > Games and rounds today and it's this year's record participation Roll Eyes
Do you think it's possible? I actually expect more predictions to come in today.

-Karl from Bitcasino
Players are really liking out these predictions contest where you get a chance to win some amount and test your speculative abilities also while bitcoin is in less volatile nature over these days fluctuating a little bit and at $20-$22k range most probably so they just want to try their luck.

Sure some more entries are on the way seeing the market conditions being green graphs on the chart.
1333  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ranking up is possible! 2900 Merits earned in less than 12 months! My 11 Hints! on: August 25, 2022, 12:11:04 PM
Wow, this is amazing, I don't know if their are others which are really of same position with you.. but to me it's beyond what I have ever imagined. This graph 📉 i saw here is the highest I have ever come across in this forum, their might be other's but to the ones I have seen this is the highest.
There are two members @o_e_l_e_o and @LoyceV who are ahead of him with 1353 and 1394 respectively at the current but there is an interesting thing about them like when Merit system was introduced @LoyceV was airdropped with 1000 merits , @o_e_l_e_o with 100 merits while @fillippone has earned all of them which is 10437 at this time which is amazing.

So you see when this thread was created he has 2900 merits and now he has reached the score of 10437 earning 7537 merits till date and all this happened due to his effective contributions on the forum and lot of detailed thread and you must be aware that he is among top generous merit sources also so his active participation is dual sided.

Was in this forum almost same time with you but all I came for then was for bounty hunting earn and go. But when I discover their are more to that which I can eventually achieve I started making great contribution learning and adding to my experience. Since 2018 I just ranked to member yesterday. And I hope to achieve more in the nearest future.
Have not gone through your post history but you have earned 20 merits in the past 120 days and sent out 2 which is good and congratulations on your rank up so see you will see the results once you choose the right path of learning on the forum and make healthy discussion. You just need to be useful or even learn from others by reading and exploring the threads, asking your doubts and slowly you will be among high rank members on the forum.

This thread has not been updated from few time and last one was when @fillippone reached the milestone of 10k merits on the forum so if you need more information you can always find it on BPIP.org

But thanks for reminding me and will try to update the thread this Sunday as was busy IRL task but will surely do it.
1334  Economy / Gambling / Re: Roobet.com | Crypto’s Fastest Growing Casino 🦘 on: August 25, 2022, 11:56:11 AM
Just want to ask that if there is any limit on sending the tip to some user on the Roobet like if I want to transfer my balance to some other user Can I do it or is there any restriction to maximum amount as $10 is the balance that you must retain but what about uper bracket? Just want to inquire about the same here?
1335  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Privacy Tips: Don't send round amount on: August 25, 2022, 11:36:02 AM
Yes, well, that's good, but I don't get too obsessed either, because, for example, the payments I have received these last weeks from the signature campaign have been 0.003 Bitcoin. In the transaction it is clear who are the recipients and what is the change address. But also, the address where I receive this amount is public.
Yeah this is the case in most of transactions in which privacy is not focused upon and you could see the recipient address and change address easily on these explorers but if you can try to improve your privacy with the necessary steps. All the records are traceable but it depends on us how we improve our security like using mixers while making transactions and being not traceable.

Seems to me like it's added fluff to give its users the impression that they're a step ahead of the competition, without it actually meaning anything at all. Probably, a loosely implemented feature without any meaningful criteria.
I also think this feature is loosely implemented because they have set the different bars like

Code:
 0 - Critical
1-49 - Low
50-89 - Moderate
90-99 - High
100 - Healthy

They provide the little explanation of how they categorised this privacy meter by saying with 100+ metrics but didn't give explanation on it and users would see the score under the transactions but how come they have that score will not be public and can say we don't need to trust them blindly and scores can differentiate a lot for these transactions.

I've noticed that Blockchair has a tonne of advertising they like to do, so that's probably why they've implemented something like this, since users will think it's a handy feature without actually knowing what determines it.
A possible explanation why they came up with this feature to attract more users to their platform and there were introduction of this on many articles and twitter also a source to advertise your platform but as user it depends on us how we determine our privacy and should be used in much effective manner rather then completely believing on these platforms although they provide a lot information on other things.

Don't believe Blockchair's privacy score, it's terrible. This transaction for example has "Privacy 95 High", while it's the exact same thing every week.
And this one has 0 level of privacy score so can't say anything about surety with them.
1336  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it possible for a newbie to send merit? on: August 25, 2022, 11:10:27 AM
You have registered on the forum 223 days and have made 182 posts till the time and only 2 out of them are in B&H help board asking for image doubt and second one this merit related and all other 10 pages are filled with your bounty submission reports which are not merit worthy so how do you think you will get them on the forum if you have not contributed well enough?

There is only limit on sending smerits which is 50 to one member in one month but if you are not merit source then you will have to earn double the amount of merits. There is no limit on earning merits but it all depends on how useful your post were on the forum members or if they started healthy discussion on the forum but you are not on that list still.

When merit system was introduced by @theymos back in 2018 it was to reduce the spam and shit posters restricting them to rank up on forum and it has helped a lot but if you focus more on acquiring knowledge then it would help rather then asking how to earn merits on the forum. You have spend quite a time on forum and stiil newbie but if you decide to learn you will see outcomes.
1337  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Biometrics as private key? on: August 23, 2022, 03:15:04 PM
You don't need anything so extreme. A simple burn or a cut across your finger tip, and there is no guarantee that when you heal your fingerprint will still be identical to what it was before, which is what it needs to be in order to recover your wallet. Good enough for a fingerprint reader maybe, but not good enough to output the exact same string as before.
For sure there are many cases where have been instances of fingerprint changes and even damge of your womb prints due to skin damage and forensic experts have to said on this topic

Quote
Pretty much any cut or burn that goes deeper than the outer layer of the skin can affect the fingerprint pattern in a permanent way. But even with permanent scarring, the new scar becomes a unique aspect of that person's fingerprint.

So what happens in this scenario is you use to login to your wallet with your biometrics but now you don't have that same prints so how do you login into your wallet? In that case you need some extra layer of security or someone else backup but that could be extremely risky and should be avoided. You could see more instances here

So this practice is not good and think we have discussed it before hand on the forum that how risky it could be due to certain problems linked with it.

In the US at least, there have been plenty of court cases where authorities were legally allowed to force you to unlock devices with biometrics, while the same is not true of passwords.
That's what government and court are injected with to do in these cases where if they found something suspicious they will force you to that task and unlocking the phone is very common practice in most of the countries and you can't resist it because you can be punished so don't left with that options.

Moreover there are many cases where it would be risky if someone found out that your biometrics are there for utilising your wallet balance and they can take it from you and even the technology is advanced that copying fingerprint with same identical prints is easy and then your device needs to be in their hands and your funds are gone within a blink of eye.
1338  Economy / Gambling / Re: Rollbit.com | Crypto's Most Rewarding Casino 👑 on: August 23, 2022, 02:53:35 PM

Whales are whales they are here to  stay in much longer timeframe, unlike with small time gamers gamblers do allocate decent amount

of bankroll enough to satisfied their leisure and also in attempting to win big, they are good in managing their money though since it's gambling

anything can happen and they are not exempt to have a bad sessions and lose big money.
If you have your budget allocated in a well manner with stop limits then you can also stay here longer and place bets accordingly to your budget because we have the minimum bets limit very low on most of the slots and if lucky then multiplier could be big so just enjoy.

I think we should focus more on Rollbit discussion rather than continuing the whale-small gambler discussion because they both have different ways of playing but you could win anytime big or low.

Volatility can be your friend on a good day, if you’re lucky. There’s something for everybody at bitcasino.io, just take your time, relax & try a bit of free play until you find something you like.

Good luck my friend.
For volatility to be your friend you need to have some good deal with luck and then you will have that good day  Grin and many have been successful at this attempt also. There are lot of games on bitcasino.io and extra activities to bet upon and try your luck which makes it an exciting option for gamblers and over the top @Karl's active participation makes player comfortable as he participates in discussion here which is good point.
1340  Other / Meta / Re: Merited Banned Account on: August 23, 2022, 02:23:08 PM
It'd be an impossible expectation, in fact, especially if the merit source gives out a ton of merits.  Can you imagine if a merit source like Ratimov or someone else at the top of the most generous merit-giving list decided they were going to check the status of each member they were going to merit?  It'd cut their sent merits in half at least, unless they wanted to spend all day every day on being a merit source.
Yes it's extremely hard task for merit sources who are handing out huge merits in each Tx to different users on the forum to check for them if they are banned or not because first they have to check for quality post made by members, then also make their own post and also have IRL jobs to perform so it's time consuming task for them being merit sources to check before meriting any post. But if they have BPIP extensions installed then they would have the status of the users before hand which could help a lot.

Personally, I wouldn't knowingly merit a banned member, and not because they might have made a decent post.  It's because of the utility merits have in the ranking up process.  Right now I have zero source sMerits and zero earned ones because I gave them all out this morning.  If I handed out merits to someone who could never rank up, I'd consider them wasted.
Yeah have seen that in past two days you have helped 6 members to reach close to their next rank with handing out smerits to them but if someone out of them gets banned your smerits wasted but it's their mistake of violating the forum rules. But your merits were awarded for the quality post they have made so it make certain type of balance situation.Speaking for your smerits then you will soon gain it for distributing it on the forum and will earn them also meanwhile.

But nevertheless, a person that got banned for whatever reason can still have posts that are worthy of merits. I like PowerGlove's suggestion of adding a note on the merit tab that informs the sender that the profile you are about to send merits to has been banned. That way they can make up their own mind whether to proceed or not.
Sure have seen some users who were making lot of quality post before hand but all efforts went into vain because they were banned for some reasons afterwards but this doesn't mean the post they have made were not merit worthy. So this is completely fine for members.
