1341  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Security Standards Audit [BSSA] on: March 05, 2014, 06:37:45 AM
- Staff background checks

This is scary that people even want this, because background checks give up no information. They are useless if they were useful then murders would be down.

In a theoretical scenario,  if the lead programmer had a hacking charges, the company's compliance officer had identity theft charges, and the CFO had financial fraud charges, and the company never performed background checks to find this out before the hires, you would be completely OK with it?  I personally think it would be grounds to sue on gross negligence.

You do know a lot of companies hire hackers who have been charged or found guilty in a court of law to head up security for the company. So where you are quick to judge, they are actually helping you stay safe. I also know of two bitcoin companies that have people with charges (not hacking) against them and you probably use them in someway. Wink So I would be completely ok with it.
1342  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Is bitcoin registrated trademark name ? on: March 01, 2014, 09:52:09 PM
I wonder if that will be part of their assets, if they sell that to a patient troll or someone for some nice money, we could be all screwed.
1343  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Where are my bitcoin gone ? on: February 25, 2014, 11:25:02 PM
The writing was on the wall, we all knew Mt Gox was a shady.
1344  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Does anyone want to sell their project? on: February 24, 2014, 04:16:47 AM
Another quick question gweedo,

Can the site be any category and can earn by any revenue?

Like, do you like sites which earn by adsense, clickbank or other sources?

Or do you prefer only sites which earns by bitcoin?

Bitcoins only.
1345  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Does anyone want to sell their project? on: February 23, 2014, 10:10:11 PM
I'm not looking to sell, but if you're interested, you can make an offer on:
1) https://www.moocoin.com
2) http://www.bitsonata.com

Thanks but I will pass on these.
1346  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core Developers Should Be Paid on: February 23, 2014, 08:13:34 AM
Dude, you need to chill. Of course I sound stupid. I just found out what bitcoins were a few days ago. And, no I don't have  any answers notice how I said, "we could do X  or Y or Z." If I knew the answer, the "or" wouldn't be in there, man.

And calling the developer a "greedy crying baby" is not nice. We wouldn't even have bitcoins if it weren't for them. If you work and you get paid for it so you could feed your family. I don't see why the developers should starve.

If bitcoins are to spread in adoption, early adopters need to stop acting like peacocks and saying stuff like, "google it," or "you're so stupid." Though I'm a newb, I try very hard to help other newbs who are even less knowledgeable than I. I always try to answer others' questions as best as I can and I always try to help others as best as I can. That's why I am offering to help pool some coin for the developers and just throwing some ideas out there to see what sticks.

If we were in a bar, I'd buy you a beer and shake hands...  Smiley

I love when newbies come here and they always have all the answers... The more you post the stupider you sound to be honest. Take them out of miner's fees? Then guess what we are not decentralized anymore.

Then if you found out about bitcoins yesterday, then don't put fore a solution if you don't even know how it work.

Yes we would have bitcoins if they left, that is exactly what I am talking about. If they left it would actually help bitcoin in the long term, but you can't see that, and they are greedy, hence why most early adopters don't like them. It is kinda like if the first web server was open source (which it was) but required payment before he would keep working on it. Now think about that wouldn't other people pick up the slack. Look at that now, the project is still alive and for the record this is what did happen.
1347  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is everyone cheering bitpay for the payment protocol? on: February 22, 2014, 12:12:45 AM
I agree with gweedo that there are many concerns here.  But isn't it true that the payment protocol is optional?

It is true, but what I fear and many others do too, is that bitpay and bitcoin foundation is so (I don't want to use powerful) influential that we will never get away people away from using it.

Think of SSL look how long it took for people to be like we need to use sites that use that.
1348  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core Developers Should Be Paid on: February 22, 2014, 12:03:15 AM
The Bitcoin Foundation was started, in part, to fund the position of chief scientist...to fund a core dev to work on it full time.

It was started because that company stop funding Gavin, and he whined and whined and whined about it. If I remember correctly Wink
1349  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is everyone cheering bitpay for the payment protocol? on: February 21, 2014, 06:33:24 PM
I don't see it as a problem because I can just choose to not use it. But I do use it.

Your opinion doesn't really count since you are a bitcoin foundation member and that is the reason that people think the payment protocol should be used, cause they were also the ones pushing it. It is very much broken technology and I would suggest that you read about it, please especially if you are using it.

I do think that it should be better if we have at least another big payment processor such as Bitpay.
Bitpay probably handles 95% of all payment traffic to merchandiser right now?

This! but it is so hard to get a bank account to hold the flat, hence why they have 95% of the market space.
1350  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Why is everyone cheering bitpay for the payment protocol? on: February 21, 2014, 05:49:26 PM
So if don't understand the payment protocol please don't cheer for it, instead question it. It is a broken centralized technology forced into a decentralized protocol. So now I guess bitcoin is only p2p and not decentralized.

Payment protocol uses X509 certificates which require you to register with a CA. You could self sign them but from what I have seen they will not work with the payment protocol. CA's are centralized and notorious for being hacked at anytime. X509 certificates also use fingerprints which are consider not to be safe, like the md5 hash and sha1 hash. Would you hash a password with any of those no!

While we all want to get to the mainstream as fast as possible, this is a marathon not a sprint. Shame should really go to bitpay and Gavin who both pushed for this, yet over stepped many other important features that should be under the hood of bitcoin, before building out features like this.

And I would like to ask core development team members to refrain from this thread please.

Also don't tell me not to use it or anything, it is that it is getting any use should be the worry some part or that I need to code my own client which I have done changes too but have not release due to that I feel like I don't want any part of the core dev team.
1351  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin reward system on: February 21, 2014, 05:37:32 AM
It maybe be release like a year or two before, but 2140 is the current target for the last bitcoins to be mined. Remember this isn't an exactly science blocks get release really fast sometimes and sometimes really late, it should all even out thou.
1352  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cool Video of first Bitcoin ATM in Boston on: February 20, 2014, 07:25:22 AM
Was this video meant to get me excited about bitcoins? Just placing a machine which I can't tell has anything to do with bitcoins from the outside, isn't enough. If I was those 2 guys I be engaging people, I would have a sign that says "Come learn about bitcoins" and every half hour just teach and answer questions.

I bet they will not even make $50K with this machine.
1353  Bitcoin / Project Development / Does anyone want to sell their project? on: February 20, 2014, 05:18:59 AM
I am looking to buy some projects. This means I would control 100% of the project, which means no projects that already have investors unless they are ok and want to cash out as well, it must have some revenue, it must have a value of under $20,000. This is really for projects are side projects. So leave the projects below and I will pm my offer.
1354  Economy / Service Discussion / What are some of the newest exchanges to trade bitcoins to any currency/altcoin? on: February 20, 2014, 05:14:20 AM
I would like to contact some of them and do some market testing.
1355  Other / Meta / Re: Marketplace trust on: February 19, 2014, 08:50:27 PM
Note the 21 million BTC risked ratings sent and received by CrazyRabbi. Anyone leaving those should be banned or their trust ratings deleted at least, as long as that many BTC don't yet exist.

They'll just say the trust system isn't moderated probably, but I had one from a user that just wrote LOL on loads of peoples profiles and they all disappeared so I don't know what happened to them.

The trust ghost removed them of course DUH LMAO
1356  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Open Letter to Gary Vaynerchuck on: February 19, 2014, 03:11:27 PM
So after watching http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YyZ2uOu4gx8, I would love to explain to Gary all about bitcoins. He is one of the people that has helped me to be a better entrepreneur. This is a person that would be a great Angel in the bitcoin world, he could help with the building of a brand. Plus he clearly likes innovation and what better innovation than disrupting the currency system of over hundreds of years.
I might be able to get you in touch. I was the web admin for Rich Schefren a few years back during his whole GPS course. Met Gary, Frank Kern, Mike Filsaime, all the guys at stompernet, etc. Let me reach out to some old contacts.

Only if Gary wants to learn more about bitcoins, I be glad to show him and teach about it.
1357  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Open Letter to Gary Vaynerchuck on: February 19, 2014, 02:54:26 PM
Short and sweet offer. Excellent. Keep us posted if he responds.

I will for sure.
1358  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin startups on: February 18, 2014, 09:57:31 PM
I don't see what the funny part is?

Let me make it plain for you then.

Quote
Aside from the amount invested, this investment round is also notable for the number of investors involved. The firm lists 15 in its statement announcing the deal, which would mean an average of $40,000 each (although the investment is likely to be unevenly spread).

Bitcoin is getting bigger and that means more scrutiny.

And assorted derpage on this thread. Hey look, fifteen people scrounged together fifty bitcoins each, this is Bitcoin getting bigger, check out how much the SEC matters and the usual pipe dreaming.

Yes, Bitcoin is huge, and growing. Not here, not with you.

And bitcoin is huge because people invest in companies allowing them to scale and grow to these huge empires.

Yes the SEC is a dinosaur and will be obsolete, but fact is I am not good at holding on to the soap so yeah...

P.S. Don't ask about new service.
