1444  Bitcoin / Hardware / alternative to bfl/avalon on: April 19, 2013, 01:20:09 AM
hello.
so avalon is cool and all but producing in low quantities. sold out.
bfl. no comment

are there currently any real ALTERNATIVES to those being developed? i haven't heard any but may be interested in some other options!
1445  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bullish on: April 19, 2013, 01:04:11 AM
you need to specify a time-frame

Now.

until when? the starting point is pretty self evident  Wink

Now means now. The point itself It's pretty self evident also  Wink

People have different opinions on the price for different time frames. I might think the price will go down in the next week, and at the same think the price will be up a large amount in the next six months. So I ask again, on what time frame are you asking this question?

this week going forward..
1446  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin donation fund idea on: April 19, 2013, 12:24:54 AM
ok. noone cared about it. all eyes were on the crash.
i'll go ahead and work on a donation fund idea. will create some requirements for who and how it will be claimed. this should do good for the community. will not collect any storage fees and hopefully someone will claim it soon enough
Go tell Charities about Bitcoin, its the only thing that will do any good.

I know for a fact that the internet archive has been accepting bitcoins as donations for a while now, so its possible, you just need to motivate the charities.

People won't be willing to give money to some random purpose, without a clear goal, you won't find anybody with interest.

charities have no interest in learning about something unless they know for sure they will get donations! $10/month wouldn't be worth their time.

this is the reason why i think there should be a "pot" for the first University (those places should have smart people in them) - top 150 to lay claim to it.
there will be articles, press, happy university officials! trust me this is better than setting up an address for each place.

if you think people won't trust me. i nominate the forum admin to manage this fund. this will 100% help the bitcoin aura
1447  Economy / Speculation / Re: this is insane again on: April 19, 2013, 12:05:43 AM
Nice times to rake some profit daytrading. Never did that actively, but its very profitable indeed Cheesy

Been daytrading for over 15 years and I have to say I have yet to see anyone get rich at it.  Lot's of guys who made a quick million and then lost it all though.  You can't predict a panic sell off and can easily lose weeks of profit in one day.  Anyone who replies claiming to be getting rich on Bitcoin daytrading please show us your statemtents and continue to show them from now on.  I doubt you will see this.

Doing well enough thank you kindly.

Do not delude yourself, ManBearPig is telling the truth, the more you trade the more certain is your loss.

Vladimir is correct. so is ManBearPig. day trading when it was just going up is fine. picking tops and bottoms unless you have enough capital to move things will probably wind up being worse than just being long

1451  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 again! on: April 18, 2013, 11:24:04 PM
500 then next big crash, by summer we will be at $1000, crash
next year we will be about $5000
make sure to use the crashes to your advantage.
1452  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are people getting greedy again so soon?? on: April 18, 2013, 09:50:03 PM
keep on crashing as long as the price keeps going up
i think what everyone learned is as the price falls keep buying. foolish people selling

1454  Economy / Speculation / Re: Only up from here ;) on: April 18, 2013, 06:43:00 PM
it seems many people have joined in the last month.
with the majority of them being anti-bitcoin.
spreading FUD. i don't even understand if they want bitcoins to go to 0 for personal reasons why they even bother coming online to talk about it.
it's like being a memeber of a bmw club and talking shit about bmws
1455  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DDOS Payback on: April 18, 2013, 04:22:47 PM
banks can't legally do it. at least not here in the US.
DDOS attacks are illegal regardless of who does it (perhaps besides the actual government who can do anything)
so average joe can't DDOS nor can any bank with ties to the US.
if there is proof that it came from a bank under US jurisdiction those people can go to jail for this

the law shouldn't be selective as to who gets punished for these kind of crimes
1456  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin's market microstructure -- what's behind all this insane movement? on: April 18, 2013, 03:47:01 PM
mtgox is still highly illiquid market.
if you looked at the volume graphs before the crash it was basically nothing
since the crash there has been more coins traded than the whole month leading up to the crash.
there has been more traded on the 16th than i think a week leading up to the crash
market was not ready. too much slippage too much guessing. too much trying to take advantage of opportunities.
ddos/lags didn't help either
yes- you are correct there is a lot of wrong things with the market at the moment. mtgox is trying to be completely hands off and perhaps if they were more like a professional company they could try to keep things stable one way or another
1457  Economy / Exchanges / Re: bitfloor issues? on: April 17, 2013, 11:46:57 PM
isn't silicone valley bank open to working with bitcoins?
1458  Economy / Speculation / Re: Yup, still feeling bearish. on: April 17, 2013, 10:25:46 PM
i still don't know why a previous crash is being used to predict this crash.
no, history does not repeat itself. the fundamentals have changed a lot in the last 2 years.
1459  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: AmerikanBanker: Governments Must Co-Opt Bitcoin to Avert Disaster on: April 17, 2013, 10:03:57 PM
digitized national currency? paypal? facebook credits? i dont think he even understands what he is saying
1460  Economy / Speculation / the crash is over? on: April 16, 2013, 11:58:44 PM
not counting the day traders causing a lot of volatility is it possible that the crash may actually be settling
obviously, noone has any actual idea.
some people who have a lot of coins might try to manipulate
but it's been 3 days since the "disaster"
wouldn't everyone who wanted to cash out have cashed out by now?
i would assume that people feel confident at a certain level
it's been 3+ days. good or bad assumption
