you guys are truly naive if you think AMC can make a decent dent.
they can play but i think everyone needs to get their expectations in line with reality

more than a day sync i'd assume. that's why they switched the clients to a liter one
1123  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Bubble Burst A Good Thing? on: July 12, 2013, 08:53:52 PM
fiat currency is speculative in it of itself. most global fiat currency goes through an average of 30 years before being worth nothing. however, people DO hold currency as a store of wealth just like anything else: gold, real estate, stocks, cars the list goes on.
there is nothing wrong with bitcoins being used as a store of wealth just like everything else in the world!! just like any other currency or commodity that can be stored.
bubble bursting it's fine. we are still in the early stages and it's still got many bursts to go. as people have mentioned it is on a trajectory upwards. that is all that people need to realize. those trying to make a quick buck - whatever. people do it everyday on FOREX and you know what some are quite wealthy just by doing so
1124  Economy / Speculation / Re: Simple reason for the price spike... why this weekend's dip will be deep on: July 12, 2013, 08:30:22 PM
You've got to remember, this whole down spiral started on the back of America's recovery.

Bitcoin is a hedge against other investments.

There's only one way we can go with this, and that is.... DOWN.

Same with gold, pull your profits while you can!

you are clearly confused. bitcoin is not a hedge - unless to some - maybe you should go learn what bitcoin's similarities and differences compared to gold and fiat. random statements such as yours are borderline trollish
1125  Economy / Speculation / Re: The mother of all traps? on: July 12, 2013, 05:43:17 PM
even as a bitcoin bull myself this looks like a trap to me. too much too fast and for what reason? is there some breaking news i missed?
whats the reason it went down so fast. None
1126  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how much would you risk? on: July 12, 2013, 01:09:16 AM
sell watch regardless. what you need it for?

i dont need it for anything, i should sell it. ive only kept it this long because it is interesting and it is not going to depreciate. im leaning more toward selling it to put toward the down payment of an investment property that my friend and i have been writing up a business plan for, but lately i have been thinking of the huge returns an investment in BTC could have. the downside is that along with those huge returns is huge risk.

As for the first guy who posted, id rather invest in real estate than gold, but that has also crossed my mind too, especially with the drop in gold recently.

you can always diversify and split the money for different options

1128  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon Batch #3 & More on: July 11, 2013, 10:59:24 PM
All you guys whining "partial refund" ... How long did BATCH 1 & 2 Customers wait?  Batch #2 was supposed to be APRIL!  The last units just went out the door.

I got shipping info on my Batch #2, I am more than happy.  I had guessed it might be MAY, worst case JUNE, now its JULY.  So 3 months late, but still happy.

Avalon really did just take ~3 weeks to produce/ship basically all of B#2 once the new line was up.   Batch #3 will definitely be much more "on time" comparatively speaking, I am very surprised there is even an offer of a refund for the whiners.

Put simply:  Should I be asking Avalon for ~250BTC for "lost profits" of my Batch 2 being multiple months late?  Heck no.  Mining has always been YMMV!

batch 1 was DIRT CHEAP.
batch 2 cost less

What language are we talking in
1130  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon Batch #3 & More on: July 11, 2013, 09:41:03 PM
Bitpay seems to be unaware of how to find a invoice URL. I am waiting on a response. If you did not recieve an invoice URL there may be a possibility that the coins went somewhere else?! Bitpay is stating they never received my BTC and they do not own the address.

are you trying to refund a batch #2 order?
please seriously consider refunding a portion of the cost since it was based on ROI and is totally messed up now
1131  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] The Official Active Mining Discussion Thread on: July 10, 2013, 11:23:03 PM
it's ok guys. the bitcoin world is new to the population lacking common sense
1132  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales now open on: July 10, 2013, 08:17:32 PM
It looks like most products are substantially cheaper when ordered for October delivery instead of for August delivery...except for the 25 GH/s starter kit.  Is $1850 for October delivery a typo, or is there a reason why that one's more expensive?  The 400 GH/s full kit is about 58% cheaper for October delivery than for August delivery, but the 25 GH/s kit is about 42% more expensive for October delivery than for August delivery.  If it were to be discounted the same as its bigger brother, it should be closer to $540, which would be a steal.  As things stand, a BFL Little Single would deliver the same hashrate at about two-thirds of the cost, and is about as likely to ship by then if ordered today.
if ordered from bfl today itd likely ship in 2014
1133  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales now open on: July 10, 2013, 07:11:09 AM
For those that missed out on a August delivery I have 4 x 25GH units on order, order number is < 40. I might be able to part with 1 or all 4 if the PRICE/OFFER is right, will depend on what happens with my mechanic, suspected blown headgasket, wont know for a few days when I get the report.

PM if interested and will provide any details you need to verify with Dave

dude, dave should just cancel your order for doing this

1135  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] The Official Active Mining Discussion Thread on: July 10, 2013, 02:30:03 AM
i'm still trying to figure out what the IP would be. you can't patent SHA and ASICs doing SHA have been around before you likely filed your patent (AM and Avalon even bitfury now). you can patent a process but, combining ASICS with SHA does not inherently give you any actual IP especially if it's been in the wild beforehand

i'm not trying to be rude. just thinking practically.
1136  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] The Official Active Mining Discussion Thread on: July 10, 2013, 01:30:19 AM
is it in the contract with eAsic that they can't sell their chips to anyone else? NDA's don't mean anything regarding exclusivity. if not than many people can just put in orders with eAsic directly.

They can build other mining chips for other entities that give them different blueprints, but the design and production of each chip is exclusive to each entity, so only ActiveMining is allowed to buy from them the current chip.

they can build a generic chip out themselves, they have the expertise.
