1441  Economy / Marketplace / Re: SkepsiDyne Integrated Node - The Bitcoin Mining Company on: August 16, 2011, 05:07:34 AM
This shows one significant structural problem with GLBSE companies so far: they all are tiny by any regular means. Sosmall they dont have any infrastructure - no phone, no personell etc. Maybe he just hat an accident or has an emergency? Noone knows - but then, there is noone to replace him.

This is not a problem. Judge me by my size do you?

All those things, extra staff, phones etc. are not needed to run a small, tight ship. The size of the company doesn't matter, what does matter is whether it is profitable. This is micro-investment come true.

Many companies/startup would go out of business tomorrow if one of the founders was hit by a bus, they're a key man, and there are plenty of one or two man operations worth millions in the world.

Also GLBSE is not the NYSE, we don't do valuations of billions(yet), what we do do however is allow people to make small investments at almost 0 overhead (good luck doing that with a share broker or even stock market trading website).

Secondly we allow people with great ideas and drive to get the capital they need to get going. GLBSE itself is an investment of myself and several others. You can see the share of BG. It is to allow the most efficient allocation of resources available.
1442  Bitcoin / Project Development / GLBSE client library, source, and development server on: August 15, 2011, 01:16:42 PM
We've made the source code of our web client available (idea's for licence to use appreciated).

We've also made available our Python client library GLIBSE, which is configured to work out of the box with our test GLBSE server.

The test server is for everyone to use and playwith, to look for vulnerabilities, or to have a server to practice their own development with it's all here.

Currently there is very little documentation, so you're best looking through the source but it's something were working on.

The test servers api urls are not the same as the live server, it is what we will be moving our live server over to in the near future.

1443  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: IBB - Islamic Bank of Bitcoin (80.30 BTC ) بنك بتكوين الاسلامي on: August 15, 2011, 11:33:31 AM
It's great that senbonzakura keeps everyone updated and informed on the status of IBB, however he needs to fill in the company information at https://companies.herokuapp.com/company/2

And for several other IBB companies listed on GLBSE

I've contacted him plenty of times and given him the needed links to get this done, but as you can see it's not happened.

Failure to update IBB and IBB owned pages by Friday will result in them being delisted from GLBSE.

Nefario.

Eek, sounds like somebody is annoyed?

By "delisted", do you mean the companies will be taken off the "Listed company" information page, or that they will be removed entirely from the exchange? How would that work with people who own shares of said companies?

Good question, it means that all IBB assets on GBSE will be frozen, including bitcoin in their account. Shareholders will not be able to trade IBB (or their subcompanies) until they resolve the issue.

FYI on the companies page IBB don't have to fill in ALL the details, just what they have.
1444  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IXcoin -- enough is enough! on: August 15, 2011, 11:21:28 AM
He did change something, two numbers.

The number of blocks to be solved in specified time.

And the number of coins per block.

The consequences of said changes are:

A much larger block chain (storage wise), and the 21million limit will be hit much earlier than with bitcoin.

Looking at it from a free market point of view, comparing two products, bitcoin and....ixcoin.

What are the advantages of ixcoin:Get's to leverage bitcoin technology base, essentially it would be trivial for people who are already accepting bitcoin to accept ixcoin.

what are the dissadvantages: no one is really accepting ixcoin yet, massive initial inflation, steep drop when minting ends.

What are the dangers of holding ixcoin? Apart from their possible loss of value (if there is any there already) the possible (probable?) collapse of the network when minting limit is hit, or even if the network is abandoned before this event.

Sure go ahead with ixcoin, but don't say you haven't been warned.

NetTecture (and others), be civil, there is no need for personal attacks. Continueing to do so will get you suspended.

download the vid and get VLC

You'll be happy to have VLC, anyway.  It's the jesus player.

Pretty much, best video player available IMO.

Actually Swami, if you still don't understand then I would say don't start, or you are likely to make an expensive mistake.

In a few days I will have a test version of GLBSE up and running that people will be able to play with and try things out, without worrying about losing anything.

It will also allow developers to test anything they have hooked into GLBSE.

So, what would general voting be?
I'm thinking about attempting to get involved, but wanted to make sure I'd have anything worth while to input.

So far the only thing that we've really had a vote on are the bylaws. Most of the other shareholders are very passive. So we've not really had any votes since.

Nefario.

I was browsing your site and I love the idea of buying shares of companies.   Do you have a thread that explains how to do it?  I'd love to invest in something.  When will trading of shares start? That would be dam fun.

Started 2 months ago, you can find information about listed shares here companies.glbse.com, many of the listed shares haven't filled in their information pages yet though, so you'll have to find their information spread over the forum.

To actually start trading go to glbse.com
1454  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A call to create a new kind of exchange on: August 12, 2011, 06:42:23 PM
Exchange in a Box, coming soon to the Global Bitcoin Stock Exchange (glbse.com), where all you'll need is a bank account and an internet connection.
1455  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: WANTED - Bitcoin speakers for Agora I/O on: August 12, 2011, 02:30:11 PM
I've mailed him. I don't have a grasp of the mathematics but I've got a good understanding of how bitcoin works. So just waiting for him to get back to me if he does.
1456  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin speakers beaureau. on: August 12, 2011, 02:28:17 PM
AFAIK there isn't anything like that, however most journo's get onto one person and move their way around they group of people who tend to be players in the bitcoin economy. I've had a few onto me and also refered a few to others.

1457  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Central place for listing GLBSE companies on: August 12, 2011, 02:38:16 AM
They are sorted by capitalization? by profitabiliy?

By when they were added to the database :p

If you check, you can see that most of the companies listed there have almost no information, it's up to the person running the company to add it.

Actually I'm thinking it might be a good idea to have this filled out, as a requirement to list on GLBSE.

1458  Economy / Economics / Re: MtGox economics - Am I right? on: August 12, 2011, 01:59:05 AM
MT.Gox bought bitplomats customers, smart move actually, and with the drop in the cost of bicoin it wasn't too expensive.
1459  Economy / Services / Re: Need L2TP/IPSec VPN connection for droid on: August 11, 2011, 10:20:39 AM
specifically setting it up.

too lazy to make it a commercial service, im only sitting on a very speedy cable connecti
i'll see if i can get my hands on some dedicated servers if this is a high-demand service

current uptime is around 97%

No need, I'll get you a VPS to set this up on.

I'll also pay you a larger amount, since this is going to involve a setup etc we can negotiate the fee and arrangements.

pm me your email and I'll send you the server login details in the next few hours.

gotcha, how much btc are we looking at here?

expect something in the next 18 hours or so (sleep(2am here), and work)

Probably looking at around 0.5btc per month, have you already got this service set up or are you going to specifically set it up?

If it's option 2 then I think you should add yourself to the vpn services page on the wiki, you'd be the only L2TP/IPSec VPN available (you could specifically target droids).
