1481  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: CPU Mining on: January 20, 2014, 05:38:18 AM
How about datacoin? It's new and cpu only as far as I can tell.

I'm thinking about giving it a go myself, there is some info here - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=384112.0;all
I'm not sure if this is up to date with the best miner though, as far as I can see there is a linux one based on the high performance primecoin miner here : http://datacoin.info/index.php?id=datacoind-build-instructions-linux - if anyone knows a windows x64 version I would be very grateful.

In the thread that you posted there is a win x64 miner. also the website of the pools have miner links too. But i am also asking currently if there is another updated miner out.
1482  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Datacoin] Datacoin blockchain start announcement (Minor code upd + logo) on: January 20, 2014, 05:34:07 AM
Why won't the Datacoin wallet sync?

did you add some addnodes? http://datacoin.info/addnodes

soon with the dnsseeder there wont be such problems.

But i also want to ask something. As far as you know what is the best miner for pool right now? i am still using primeminer RC1. Is there any newer out or any faster one?

Also external miner for solo is still unstable?

i want to make some guides but i am not sure about these questions.
1483  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: !@#$[IDEAS NEEDED] Profitable coins vs cryptsy on: January 20, 2014, 05:30:08 AM
It is still even called the Alternate cryptocurrencies section not the scam of the day crappy clone forum.

-MarkM-

Look up what people said about BTC 2 years ago and compare to this nonsense you wrote. If some currency is new it does not mean that it is worthless. Of course some are scam but we have free market here, weak coins will be removed, all should get a chance

If a currency is premined, has nothing new to offer except name/logo and dev cant even write the coin but pays someone else to build the coin then yes it is a scam and has nothing to do with bitcoin 2 years ago...it is just a ponzi directed to people that just heard Bitcoin from the TV previous month...
1484  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WHY ARE THERE NO GOOD/SERIOUS COINS OUT THERE on: January 20, 2014, 05:24:17 AM
Check Datacoin for a serious coin.

1486  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DTC Promo Thread - Information is Money, Datacoin Implements These Words! on: January 20, 2014, 05:13:43 AM
I just made a very fast wikipedia article. Actually i copied primecoin article. I thought that this is not a bad thing to do but i dont know...

Probably they will delete it soon since i have not added references. I will do soon however. As i said i did it fast so maybe someone else can also help. I didnt even double checked it afterwards. Also there are not really technical stuff. Finally i cant yet upload a logo since i just made an account at wikipedia...

If you feel like it is stupid tell me and i will just delete it or go ahead and delete it yourself Tongue

1488  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: China-made CPU coins, the truth is... on: January 20, 2014, 03:26:33 AM
No such thing as a cpu only coin some one else will always find a way to mine gpu. if not they still got botnets out there

well the term "cpu only" means that it is not still efficient to mine with gpu...

1489  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Datacoin][DTC] Datacoin on Yahoo.Finance and more inside! on: January 20, 2014, 02:06:07 AM
why is datacoin not on cryptsy.  Huh

Hopefully it will be there soon. And i believe that then more people will know about it and price will triple at least.

For now they ignore it. They said some weeks ago that they are sceptical about future blockchain size. But i think this is stupid for cryptsy. All cryptsy needs is a 60 dollar hard disk for two years or more...

So we just wait...

Seems good, except this stuff:

Quote
Premine: ABSOLUTELY ZERO

How do you expect to pay for your time dedicated to developing the coin?

are you like serious now?
1491  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DTC Promo Thread - Information is Money, Datacoin Implements These Words! on: January 19, 2014, 11:39:43 PM
Yes, it will be some kind of blockchain spamming. but who cares? The file to be uploaded will be some bytes, not even a kilobyte. But it would demonstarate the functions of datacoin to the world. With krypte.net its pretty easy...

I think the problem of paying the reward in datacoin is, that a user who doesnt know about datacoin, will not do much to get some datacoins. Bitcoins on the otherhand are well known, and users know their value.
We can make combined reward, i.e. 0.2 BTC + 200 DTC, 0.1 BTC + 100 DTC, etc.
Okay, I agree with your offer Smiley

or just the title can say 200DTC (  x BTC)

For such things there  must be a way for those of us that are interested to communicate fast. If others also give some DTC i will also give for the cause. And also criticism and more ideas Smiley

P.S. It doesnt need to be extremely big price. 100 dollars is quite big for someone to win for 5 mins of his time. I think so... With smaller prizes/giveaways you get more of those kind of things...
1492  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DTC Promo Thread - Information is Money, Datacoin Implements These Wor on: January 19, 2014, 09:01:44 PM
I have a litte big idea for a datacoin promotion.

I thought of a way to rise datacoins degree of knowledge in public and to get people to buy/generate/use some datacoins. But it came to me during a shower...

I think to get people involved in a new coin, you need a really good incentive. And not in Datacoin, but in Bitcoins or Litecoins. I think it should be around 0.1 Bitcoin or more, to motivate people do the task.

So here is the thing...

Set up a giveaway, which will run 3-5 Days. The winner will be drawn from all participants of the giveaway.
To qualify for the giveaway, everyone has to post a twitter post like:

"@datacoin Secure filestorage. New 0.1BTC giveaway: bit.ly/BlaBla" (link to giveaway-post)

Than, that twitterlink, including bitcointalk username and a BTC Adress will be safed in a txt file:

"
morontv
http://twitter.com/link-to-post
BTC: 1GBTkDzYCvgo9Xm8VvnB9eahcdSpnE4xnJ
"

and that file need to be uploaded to to the blockchain.
Thaaan, the TXT-ID can be posted in the giveaway thread.
Maybe even require to change the bitcointalk signature until end of the giveaway.

I think it would be a great way to introduce the senddata/getdata feature in the native client...

What do you think?
it will be blockchain spamming, did you think about it? Smiley

Why do you say that? As i understand the idea it will be one time upload of all the comments that have been written on that twitter. I like the idea cause we need to do something to promote the features of Datacoin. Not only the name now.

Edit: Well i reread it and indeed all people will have to upload something but will this be so big really? After all we want users to upload stuff no matter what.

Still in case we do it i wouldnt like the idea of bitcoins. I would prefer it to be in Datacoins. And i could participate if someone else wanted...
1493  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ***Easiest Guide For DO Cloud Mining Datacoin***2DTC giveaway!MiningforDummies! on: January 19, 2014, 08:58:18 PM
As far as I can tell, unless you have free credits or something, it would be cheaper to just buy datacoins than cloud mine them. Even to mine them on your home PC, the profits are going to be razor thin when you factor electricity in.

Well price dropped so yes. Still i believe it is undervalued and it will soon go up...Personally i mine since this supports the coin but i also buy Datacoins whenever i have some spare BTC.

Any news?
unfortunately I think I have to give up. A coin where the main developer sits silent for long cannot succeed. Just look at namecoin, it was extremely difficult to get in touch with vinced the namecoin creator.

gatra, any good news ?

Please don't give up! I admit it's been a lot longer than I (and everyone) expected, I could have launched sooner but I wanted to dedicate to this the time it deserves.

Good news:
I updated riecoin.org with some data.
I'm testing 4 versions (win/linux, 32/64 bit) of the miner and have to make sure all are capable of finding valid blocks. So far 3 of 4 have found blocks.
Launch will be by the end of Jan or beginning of Feb. I can promise this: the launch date will be announced before the end of January.

Thanks!

Very nice man! So there are things going on it seems! I really want to see serious ideas and especially scientific ones! I am waiting for it!
