I think the datacoin storage payments should be paid to an address that permanently takes them out of circulation. That would increase the value of datacoin.
But what about the incentives for miners ? Miners secure the network with their power, and at the moment there is little incentive in mining DTC (from an instant profitability point of view). When Datacoin goes more mainstream and we are using the chain at full cap, every block will be worth more than 50 DTC instead of the 10 DTC we are at right now. Although I understand your concerns about the value since the number of DTC is unlimited (or very high which is essentially the same) and using an unspendable address would surely help keep the inflation at a more reasonable level. removing the DTC from circulation will increase the coin price which will increase the value of the coins the miners get. It spreads evenly amongst everyone. When did plans to increase the block reward to 50 DTC get talked about? That's really annoying. You are going to screw over all your early investors, myself included, not that they haven't been screwed already. Thank god I didn't put money in earlier or I would have lost everything >90%. What you said about the high number of coins is true. There seems little reason for people to purchase DTC. The price is almost designed to go flat so everyone can store a file cheaply. Rather than increasing the price of coins to increase the value of the mining reward you want to increase the amount of coins in the mining reward while keeping the price low. That is silly in my opinion. It would have been nice to have known this was the plan before I sank several BTC into this project. I like the idea of Datacoin but to believe there is room for another currency is ridiculous. they didnt raise anything.. its like this from the start: "Fee from fully loaded block is about 50DTC (block reward now is ~11DTC and it decreases)." |

It's nice to be able to see the picture of a kitten. (well DL it, doesn't wanna show direct on my browser) The problem I see is that you need registration on a specific website for that to work. I dream to see decentralized server. No idea if that is in your long term project. (I read you don't want to include any DNS feature (for now? KISS/UNIX is cool, no prob with that)) Now anyone can install simple perl scripts and gain easy access to files stored in the blockchain, if these files are stored with help of these scripts. So it will be good to have such server (it is really small) on each machine with Datacoin which needs access to this files, user will go to e.g. http://localhost:8080/dtc/txid/a2784925fe6a147c85ed8a4694d4f3e8f616141d7c7dc548b70e3d8f25a651fb and see the kitten - no need to go anywhere outside. It is the most important idea of the OP - anyone can start his DTC server, even on local machine. Talking about 'the one' - we need core dev to answer this question, but it seems to me that Datacoin allows a very big 'play-ground' that doesn't need any changes to core protocol, but tons of applications can be written on top-level of it. i can offer my computer and a small vps for this to be done but i dont know how... |

Thanks for the forum link. I didn't made a search, shame on me. Found it 2 minutes later, slightly edited my post, and saw you answer. I'm not sure about where is the best place to talk about what I wish to talk. Like you say the forum is small, and I found it by reading people's post talking spam-problem about it. I guess: I would enjoy the creation of a massive think tank (as humanity already created and succeed to manage a think tank of 100~1000 people?) There is a few project closely linked in their underlying idea. Partially at least. Namecoin, Datacoin, proof of bandwidth and a-like. I'd love to see a project combining all those and going even far further. Lots of ideas, and I'm not the only one. For now I just wish to have a talk with the datacoin team to clear a few point (in my linked post). A nice day to all :p edit: I think the krypte way could also be available without a login but it helps krypte grow this way  Datacoin global growing seem much more important to me than krypte website, but maybe it's just me  I think it is just that if people wont login wont know how easy it is to download stuff on the blockchain and use it. I think right now,from a week ago, this is possible. Only a dev must make it work easily. As for the other coin, the bandwidth one, while the idea is great it is far from happening and to my understanding it wont be as centralized as Datacoin. Think of your own name Design the distribution model so it is 100% fair and not instamined in a few months. To be fair Microcoin is amazingly fair and a clever idea to stop huge farms instamining at the start. Think carefully and outline a premine ledger with max 2% and stick to it Announce it - although with the microcoin distribution model annoucement is not required. I am not sure that there is need for another QRK since it is NOW distributed very widely. However if new miners want a crack and a new QRK coin explosion then at least do what you say and make the distribution fair from the start. However you do it though the QRK model does not stop botnets and cheap vps nodes eventually getting most of the rewards. Really there is no need for clones with zero innovation. They will never amount to much. New miners will only ever be part of another QRK BTC price explosion if a coin with innovation is released. I just want to tell you something. What a shitcoin bitcoin was when it reached 33 dollars and dropped below 2. I guess all people that dumped at a few dollars gained much.
You compare shitcoins with good coins. All of those die just after the hype. This one gained a big price cause of the bitcoin hype but will return when it is its time. See how many months it took for peercoin or primecoin to go up. And wait.
If you want dump away. Personally i am still buying datacoins with my gains froms shitcoins. And i wont sell until i have profit. Its all in for me. I believe in this coin and want it to succeed.

Fair premine is better than instamine.. not a big fan of quark, but this coin deserverses to fail badly, this coin started out by trying to deceive everybody that Quark had a 98 % pre-mine, which is a total lie, as far a I know Quark was not pre-mined at all, Yes it was mined pretty quickly with block rewards having very fast, so maybe it is reasonable to call it an insta-mine coin. But I fail to see how an insta-mine is less fair then a pre-mine. At least everybody that wanted to could get in on the six month "insta-mine" of Quark, nobody could get in on the pre-mine of this coin. People who start a new coin with lies and deceit are basically scam artists and their coin does not deserve to become successful. Instamine is really unfair for eager miners who happen to live in different timezones or have some other things to do during launch. These people are automatically discriminated. I think premine with transparency is better than instamine because it gives the developers tools to develop the coin without the need for instamine incentives - this way there is no need for shady quick profits right after the launch. I want to turn around this question: FairQuark was premined privately block-by-block by the developers, would you rather have a coin that had no premine and some big sharks mined against the developers during launch? That could mean that there would not be reserve for the developers to get the coin to exchange and such. I'd rather lose the first blocks to developers than greedy sharks. There is no fair premine here. For a fair premine - you need a full block explorer, full ledger, Large giveaways and large bounties for things. 50-75% must be used before exchange to stop dumping. This will not happen. Ahh, are you the 700 kH/s monster then ? The payout will increase until you've hit an equilibrium where the rate of shares falling out of the PPLNS system is equal to the rate of shares being accepted. It can take a while before it hits that sweet spot. yes i am that guy...a few vps running... |

None of these pools are paying out. p2pool won't let you down (because it can't)! http://p2pool.fairquark.com:8372 (2% fee) http://0x0a.nl:8372 (0.9% fee - because it's my puny little VPS) and ehh.. that's.. all the p2pools I could find in this thread (that can't be right?). As long as you have a valid and active share (not dead, orphaned or too old), you'll get payed out immediately when the p2pool network finds a block. So, it might take a while before you get a share, but when you do you'll see your address in the Payout tables and in the case of http://0x0a.nl:8372 you can find your address & payout on the "Graphs" tab as well. Since the p2pool network is currently finding blocks every minute, you'll get payed out every minute. It's a different system from MPOS and other pools, yet it's robust and much harder to scam with; a) you receive your coins right when the network finds a block, or b) you don't have a valid/active share (which you can confirm) or c) something fishy is going on. There are no payment cronjobs and thus delays in p2pool. Plus, of course, each p2pool 'pool' is actually just a node of the p2pool network, so there's not necessarily any centralization going on - anyone can join the p2pool with their own node (and pay 0% fee!). TL;DR: p2pool - p2pool p2pool. P2, Pool. P2pool. well i am mining at you right now. you indeed started paying fast but i think the payout is small...lets see... |
