1481  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Silver and copper coins- Goxxed For The Last Time a (commiserative) coin on: May 15, 2014, 06:25:13 PM
I didn't see pictures of the copper.

Are any of the coins stamped with content?
- Meaning, I didn't see the 1 Troy Oz - 9999   anything like that.  (picture of the back?)  (Diff between the plated and the pure?)

Slight interest in the gold strike as well.

Maybe adjust OP for price in dollar and/or btc?

I could read through again; however, on quick glance, I didn't see escrow options.

PS.  I like the idea.  Makes me wonder if I could sell my YubiKey for even a slight fraction for what I have in Gox.  Any interest?   Sad   (jk)

Technically the standard coin is copper-zinc (brass), with silver plating and painted. It's more recognizable to put copper in the title.

The coins are not stamped with content- this is something I should have done probably on retrospect. I could film or record the results of an official test if you like?

I'm still in correspondence with my supplier about gold strikes, these would be a new design, with numbers laser etched, purity and weight stamped too.

No escrow is listed, I am happy to use escrow though. Frankly, the sales I have done so far have not merited escrow use, with my post and reputation no one has asked for escrow yet.

I want to keep my gox yubikey as a memento Smiley

I hope this answers your questions, please let me know if you have any more.
1482  Other / Politics & Society / Re: David Cameron: Taxes will rise unless we can raid bank accounts on: May 15, 2014, 03:50:42 PM
As an aside and back on topic. Why would Cameron come out with this now? Hardly anyone wants more taxes- at least those who have to pay them.

Is it a warning to his buddies to get out of dodge while they can?

I'm tempted to see it as a foreshadow of things to come.
1483  Other / Politics & Society / Re: David Cameron: Taxes will rise unless we can raid bank accounts on: May 15, 2014, 03:33:58 PM
So a prisoner should be thankful for the food he is served since he is 'benefiting' from it?

Many people have no choice but to use the system- like the NHS, this does not mean they are 'benefiting' from it, unless you like waiting months for treatment.

I use the roads, but I would not call being stuck in gridlock everyday 'benefiting' from it, I simply have no viable choice but to use the roads that apparently we are unable to build or maintain without the 'wisdom' of a central authority. Please do not start me on the trains.

I'm happy to pay for things I use, I don't expect others to pay for them. Unfortunately the freeshit crowd disagrees so much that they are willing to use their greater numbers to make me foot the bill.

But I understand we can't turn a switch and suddenly live in a voluntaryist utopia- shit, I'd be happy to live in a socialist country, let's just not use debt to fund the shortfall and we wouldn't need these crazy tax grabs Smiley A flat tax is a start, but this whole spaghetti mess called democracy in the UK means that the main parties play this tug of war over people's emotions every few years.

I'm pretty shocked at the support for Milliband, his policies seem destructive to me.

Got to say it's nice to see such commitment from the devs after seeing so many scam coins fade away.

I'm in a wiki state of mind today. Grin

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fraud

Quote
Fraud is a deception deliberately practiced in order to secure unfair or unlawful gain (adjectival form fraudulent; to defraud is the verb).[1] As a legal construct, fraud is both a civil wrong (i.e., a fraud victim may sue the fraud perpetrator to avoid the fraud and/or recover monetary compensation) and a criminal wrong (i.e., a fraud perpetrator may be prosecuted and imprisoned by governmental authorities). Defrauding people or organizations of money or valuables is the usual purpose of fraud, but it sometimes instead involves obtaining benefits without actually depriving anyone of money or valuables, such as obtaining a drivers license by way of false statements made in an application for the same.

Exactly. The more I think on it the more I think this coin should be left to disintegrate. I would not be interested in supporting a coin with such a negative beginning. An outright rebrand and rerelease would need to be done to cut all ties with the original devs.
1486  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTS] Brand new and sealed Macbook Air US model- UK based seller on: May 13, 2014, 03:19:15 PM
Looking for UK buyers I will consider mainland Europe too.

This is the latest basic model bought in April, comes with receipt for warranty ect...

Make me an offer, nothing silly as I am in no hurry to sell. I have extensive feedback, but can escrow if required.

Will post photos later today.
1487  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Silver and copper coins- Goxxed For The Last Time a (commiserative) coin on: May 13, 2014, 03:12:21 PM
Just sent a few more out this past week, anyone got any feedback they'd like to give?

Thanks for the support Smiley
1488  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Community Fork Contingiency on: May 13, 2014, 03:10:37 PM
Sounds like a good idea if the original devs have given up on it. If they cannot be bothered to post in the next 3 months, they can hardly say it was stolen from them.
I agree, either the coin is adopted by the community or we let it die. The original devs have quite obviously abandoned ship.
I can be patient; I plan to check this thread only every week or two until then.

Those who are taking the cynical view that the devs nefariously manipulated the market, might want to consider that they can do so by being silent for a long time while buying the 42. Then, they would inflate the market by participation, and then sell again.  Or then again, maybe they just have lives.  Wish I did.

Cynical? This is borne out by the fact that I had no reply from them for a legitimate venture using 42 as payment. Also, a significant premine- much of which I do not believe was used for bounties. Any serious dev would not leave this focal point of the coin with no updates.

This process of staying quiet, buying and then coming out and pumping would destroy the credibility of the coin... even further. They are long gone, done and dusted.

Also, with their premine, why would they waste BTC on buying? Unless they are using previous 'profits'.

If the devs *do* come back for more pump and dump chicanery. I expect to be banned from the thread if I sew too much dissention.
1489  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: btc-arbs.com - Update: Withdrawal problems - DO NOT DEPOSITS - 100% HYIP on: May 11, 2014, 10:33:35 AM
i have lost with this program, he are not serious

now i use oilrig it's serious and connication is very good https://oilrigcontractors.com/index.php?ref=jean92

Oilrigcontractors is clearly another Ponzi.   However it is interesting that you say the communication is good, that was never the case with btc-arbs.

Reported to UK police as Ponzi is illegal. Any other UK based people feel free to make an online report as well via http://www.actionfraud.police.uk/ more reports they get the quicker the operators will get locked up.

I'm not sure if you are familiar with HYIPS in general. Some basic research will show that the owners of these sites are pretty good at evasion. Check this article out for an interesting read:

1490  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Community Fork Contingiency on: May 11, 2014, 10:00:16 AM
I propose to sit on this for 3 months until 8-8-2014, and then launch a community fork.  It ought not be a hostile takeover.  We computer literates are accustomed to abandonware.  Cryptocurrencies minimize authority in favor of community.  The coin itself owns no intellectual property.  We ought to make peace with the owners of the most appealing and most related intellectual property.

We may not need to act; there is no reason other than your feelings that the accepted devs must comment every day, week, or even month.  The book goes on even after the author perishes.  Some works are reborn by the hand of a new editor from a later generation.

My education is electrical engineering with training in programming,
...but my background is more in marketing.  I view the 42 as a marketing opportunity.  Don't get me started on my dislike of the marketing of the 42.  I'd need to explore the subtleties of cryptocurrencies before having much to contribute to code.

Sounds like a good idea if the original devs have given up on it. If they cannot be bothered to post in the next 3 months, they can hardly say it was stolen from them.

I agree, either the coin is adopted by the community or we let it die. The original devs have quite obviously abandoned ship.
1491  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Emerald - EMD, a great cryptocurrency | Version 1.3 released! on: May 10, 2014, 10:21:28 PM
Interesting thoughts Henle. I agree mostly, and thanks for the mention of my Gox coin Smiley I hope that the coin can move forward in a positive way.

Still accepting EMD if anyone is interested! Wink

1492  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Silver and copper coins- Goxxed For The Last Time a (commiserative) coin on: May 10, 2014, 01:26:35 PM
Will be talking to my manufacturer about some pure gold strikes, currently have a few people interested, please let me know if you'd be interested too as this will be a super limited handful of strikes in gold! Smiley

Thanks again for the support guys!
1493  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] 42 | + super rare | + only 42 coins to be mined | + Update b4 Block 55,000 on: May 08, 2014, 01:44:28 PM
that sounds about right.  i was hoping for something strange non pump and dump phenomenon as the book titles says, "Don't Panic"

Move on to another...

Lol I guess. I've had many adventures with crypto, involving accidentally investing in a ponzi, 42 was just another flop.

I'm tired of this profit chasing and I intend to devise a stable investment for those in the community that can help them gain a steady return without the crazy risks rife and common on some sites and crypto. It may go nowhere, but if it goes as I plan, it should be extremely safe.

Anyone have valid explanations or information?

 Huh

If it looks like a pump&dump and quacks like a pump&dump... We all took risks and put a degree of trust in the developers- which let's be honest are probably sitting on a nice little pile of BTC chuckling to themselves.

Just how much they have made, I couldn't say. The premine was what? 1 42coin? If they unloaded even half when 42 was at it's peak, that's probably nearly 700BTC??

I'd love to be proven wrong, and who knows the price could go up. But I think a certain amount of acknowledgement that 42 was nothing but a glorified pennystock- it sure has traded like one.
1495  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling painting on: May 08, 2014, 08:29:51 AM
how much would you pay then?  Roll Eyes

Me? I'd paint my own I'm afraid! Smiley

But I think £40 would not be an unfair price for a pleasing painting. So what's that? about 0.2BTC right now?
1496  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Silver and copper coins- Goxxed For The Last Time a (commiserative) coin on: May 07, 2014, 06:27:35 AM
Looking into buying these on facebook. I'd rather get rid of fiat than my crypto  Grin

Hi miffman, yes I have heard the sentiment expressed my others, myself included! I'll pop you a message.
1497  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Silver and copper coins- Goxxed For The Last Time a (commiserative) coin on: May 06, 2014, 06:59:38 PM
Got rid of the payment method discounts, they were impractical and probably not that effective. Reduced prices by 5% to make up for it.
1498  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Silver and copper coins- Goxxed For The Last Time a (commiserative) coin on: May 05, 2014, 07:06:08 PM
Just thought I'd pop by to say this is hilarious. I hope these sell well.

Thanks Thok, so far the interest has been encouraging! I need to make more of an effort promoting outside of the forum though. That will be easier when the website is finished.
1499  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling painting on: May 05, 2014, 01:26:44 PM
Well I like the painting, but 10BTC is simply too high.
1500  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Unobtanium Info & Discussion on: May 05, 2014, 12:19:00 PM
@bigtimespaghetti & @whathewhat
I like the idea, but how do physical coins work? I have never seen/used one yet. Is there a private key engraved on them or something?

Yes, generally physical coins have a private key/address code under a tamper proof hologram that you can then import into your cryptocurrency's client and spend ect...

What I think would be interesting is engraving a QR code or address onto a coin and having it as a payment method as well.

Both are something I am very interested in trying.
