161  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: YoMix Service Status on: April 25, 2024, 10:56:45 AM
I just gave a negative trust to member who was representative in bitcointalk forum, and I suggest other DT members should do the same thing:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=3525916

If OP or someone else creates a flag against them I will also support it.
Even if this helps just one person that won't get scammed by them it would be good.

@julerz12 and @Poker Player consider updating your feedback.
162  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BitMixList.org - Bitcoin Mixer List on: April 25, 2024, 10:46:25 AM
In the wake of Samourai Wallet being seized (ugh), what do you guys think of me doing an investigation into the circumstances behind the seizure and posting them on the site?
You can do that, it would be interesting reading material, but didn't you say that you can't create separate pages? Wink

Note that it was not only Samourai wallet website that was seized, they also removed their Gitlab page, coordinator is down, and you can't even use it via Sparrow wallet.
I think that samourai old github page is still there but this is outdated code, and all keys previously generated by Samourai should be considered unsafe now.

Sparrow wallet with Whirlpool is not working anymore, so you can consider removing it from list, or moving in separate section.
163  Other / Meta / Re: Post per day/ per month falling. on: April 25, 2024, 10:35:15 AM
Speaking of activity, I am just finishing monthly overview of the local boards activity (It should be released tomorrow) and you will be glad to hear that our numbers for the last month are the best in the last year or so.  Wink
Best in what way exactly? Number of posts increased or they became better people and complained less than usual? Wink
Even without checking I can be sure that our local king and gambling expert is still the same on top of his throne.
164  Other / Meta / Re: Is Samourai wallet now banned from Bitcointalk? on: April 25, 2024, 10:18:28 AM
From my point of view, mixing isn't inherently criminal behavior either.... As a matter of fact, many people (including myself) use(d) mixer to increase their privacy. It's nobody's business how much BTC i hold, that's private information (just like my FIAT balance on my bank account). But this didn't stop the world's governements of attacking all mixing services, so i don't see why they wouldn't increase their attack surface by making every service that isn't 100% KYC and actively working with them a valid target.
Don't be surprised if they even make Privacy illegal soon, that is the way we are going now.
If they started to ban and arrest people who created open source wallets than be sure they will expand in future to other wallets and services.
They clearly wanted to send a message with this.

Is Samourai wallet now banned from Bitcointalk? No, I can type https://chipmixer.com/ and http://sinbad.io/ without getting banned.
Roll Eyes
Please be serious.
BAN from forum is not the same as not being able to type name of that service in forum  Tongue

Rhetorical question, but should BurtW be banned from Bitcointalk for Money Laundering And Unlicensed Money Transmitting Offenses?
He was not accused of being a mixer, but that was back in 2015 and lot of things changed since than.

I am wondering if theymos is going to update his definition of mixer again  Roll Eyes

Definition of a mixer

For clarity, here is a detailed definition of what we mean by a "mixer". Most people know intuitively what a mixer is and don't have to read this.

Something is considered a mixer if it meets all of these requirements:
 1. It has a feature advertised for taking property, improving its privacy somehow, and then returning roughly the same type of property.
     a. Even though you can sometimes use non-mixers to mix coins by depositing and then withdrawing, this doesn't make it a mixer because this is an incidental use of the service; the service isn't advertised as privacy-enhancing.
     b. If a site is not primarily a mixer but has a mixer function, such as a mixer function on a gambling website, then the whole site is considered a mixer.
     c. If the site takes coins, gives you a possibly-transferrable IOU, and will convert this IOU back into mixed coins much later, then the temporary conversion into a different type of property does not prevent it from being considered a mixer.
     d. If the site internally converts your deposit into other things as part of its mixing, but ultimately the point of the product is to get your original type of property back, then that's a mixer, not an exchanger.
 2. It is possible for the mixer to steal property passing through it. Assume that the sender does everything as correctly as possible. Also assume that no miners/verifiers on the base-layer cryptocurrency are evil. But assume that every other actor involved is evil (everyone able to vote in a DAO, every coordination server, every counterparty, every member of a multisig, etc.). Ignore short-term software bugs which are expected to be quickly fixed.
 3. The service does not collect KYC-type info from all users. (This is not an endorsement of KYC generally, or a condemnation of non-KYC services generally. Non-KYC services of other types are still allowed, and in many cases they are a good idea.)

Examples of things that are not banned mixers include exchangers (unless they have a mixing function), CoinJoin-supporting non-custodial wallets, and Monero.
165  Other / Meta / Re: Sig campaign doesn't pay in bitcoin.... on: April 25, 2024, 10:01:34 AM
Ok so I know its a rule that if a campaign doesn't pay in bitcoin, it has to be launched in the altcoin section. I cannot find a rule anywhere though, can someone point me to it please?
If I remember correctly some managers bypassed this rule by splitting payments to participants in two parts, one part Bitcoin, one part altcoin.
This way you don't have to move topic in Altcoin section, but you can also use some second layer on top of bitcoin if fees are the issue.

Vidiš to nisam znao.

BlackHatCoiner created the thread some minutes faster than you
It's not a duplicate because I asked direct question to forum administration, that is why it's posted in Meta board.
I suspect that someone will probably fork Samourai wallet and it will continue to exist in some form.
Thank you for understanding.

Theymos probably opened a Pandora's box when he banned mixers from bitcointalk forum, because US/EU officials can now call anything to be a ''mixer'' including bitcoin wallets Tongue
I was never a big fan of Samourai wallet, but that is open source tool for privacy and lot of people used it.

171  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Cheap & silent mini PC for Bitcoin node & blockchain explorer? on: April 24, 2024, 02:29:49 PM
I wouldn't compare my fridge with a node though: I can't really go without a fridge. But if I were to buy a new one, it would be an energy efficient one. Now that I check it: you're wrong on the power consumption. This one (260l fridge, 103l freezer) consumes 11.9W on average. That's a lot less than my current laptop. That's really impressive!
Don't trust, verify (with power meter).
You are assuming that everyone is using brand new fridge with class A energy classification, but I don't think they do.
I could probably give better example with electric heater or air conditioner that are biggest power consumers but I wanted to have something that is working 24/7.
Only other thing I could think off is light bulbs, but there are old style incandescent and new led lights, so it is wide range of consumption.

Here is what AI told me about average fridge power consumption:

Quote
A typical American-style fridge freezer uses between 40W and 80W (minimum) to 150W and 400W (maximum) of electricity.
A fridge uses around 100W to 250W of electricity, with an average daily energy usage of 1 to 2 kilowatt-hours (kWh) or about $150 per year.
A large fridge uses around 180W or 1575 kWh annually.
Some fridges may use as little as 10W to 15W for table top models.

This is what AI is saying for average laptops:

Quote
Laptops typically use between 30-70 watts of power when in use.
The average power consumption of a laptop is around 50-60 watts.

Power Consumption by Activity:

Web browsing: 20-40 watts
Office work: 30-50 watts
Video streaming: 40-60 watts
Gaming: 60-120 watts
Video editing: 80-150 watts

I will add it in the future, as LN becomes easier and safer to use.
I dont think that LN is ever going to be safe or easy to use at all, it's pain the ass actually  Tongue
And if anyone really wants to donate Lightning or any specific altcoin they can always contact you and ask for deposit address.
For me Monero is the best option for donation and for privacy, it's what money and p2p payment system should be, and it has very low transaction fees.
173  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Pregled Bitcointalk Signature-Ad kampanja on: April 24, 2024, 10:13:48 AM

What is Satodime

Satodime is a bearer instrument that allows you to easily exchange Bitcoin like cash:
- Seal a new Bitcoin keyslot, load some sats and exchange your card like a banknote.
- Do P2P exchange, physically, on street.
- Perform off-chain transactions.
- Gift Bitcoin to your friends.

Satodime is like:
- Opendime, but you don't need to break the device to get access to the private key.
- Opendime, but it supports more than just #Bitcoin.
- Tangem, but you can seal several cryptocurrencies at once.
- Ballet, but keys are not pre-generated.

Satodime:
- is affordable;
- is NFC ready;
- can support Bitcoin, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum and all the ERC-20 and ERC-721 tokens;
- can contain up to 3 secure vaults, meaning you can safely store 3 wallets.
- is trustless, open-source;
- and customizable.

If you want to make new suggestions, I will be available to analyze them.  Wink
Only thing I could think of is adding support for uploading WEBP images.
They are getting used more and more and I think they are usually smaller size than JPG and other similar formats.
Even automatic conversion to supported formats would be acceptable solution.
176  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto diskusija, teorije i kandidati on: April 24, 2024, 08:24:30 AM

I am not pissed with everyone but icopress. I am trying to understand what causes the massive blow? [1.] icopress influenced everyone [2.] two of my posts that caused all these blow [3.] the neutral feedbacks that I left for icopress and Jambler.
Then why are you listing all the members who don't trust your judgment anymore, any why deceive people that icopress ordered everyone to do this?
That ''neutral'' post you wrote to him was actually negative in reality, as you directly blamed him that he mismanaged jambler campaign Tongue
It appears that you used special cover technique in your feedback written to him just to avoid critique from other members.
For someone who allegedly wanted more transparency and ''justice'' this was not so transparent.

If I had my trust list active again, just for this sentence I would not trust you anymore:

First openly[1] and then in PM, icopress told everyone [that are in his campaigns, targeting those who are effected by Jambler's ban] to distrust BitcoinGirl.Club and they did.
179  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Decentralized exchanges with lightning network on: April 23, 2024, 07:16:04 PM
Bisq is the best decentralized exchange and they added support for Lightning Network trading.
Robosats is also cool and good for p2p trading but it is not really decentralized.
Last option I would check for cash trading is PeachBitcoin app, but I am not sure if they have Lightning support yet.

After charging me a $1 monthly fee for the second time this month my card suddenly stopped working. They posted the following message on Telegram
I was just about to make a post about this.
They not only charged monthly fees, but they canceled and blocked all my cards for some stupid reason and for my ''protection''.
I had one refund in process for one of my purchases, but this is now impossible to complete  Tongue
Another thing I noticed is they deleted telegram support group @BitStoreHelp but that was useless anyway.

I was always saying that this and any other virtual card service is risky, and people should not keep any money there.
Here are some of many email messages I received from them:
