1021  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ryder One - Worst Hardware wallet ever? on: November 03, 2023, 03:59:09 PM
So actually it's 10 set of hardware wallet meant which can be used by 10 different people.
Yeah, you are right, but I still think it's stupid if only way to get another ''recovery tag'' is to buy whole new hardware wallet package, and having only one recovery tag is also not a good option.
1022  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Tangem Ring HW - The Lord of the Rings? on: November 03, 2023, 03:55:43 PM
It saddens me that so many new entrants are pushing blind signing (without a screen). It feels like a major regression in security model. I would have hoped that the industry had learned from Ledger's first Nano device a decade ago (screen-less), but it seems like new entrants are repeating the mistakes of the past.
As much as I despise ledger, I have to say they probably earned most money from all hardware wallets with their promotional propaganda.
Most people don't care about security if they have something popular that looks nice from outside  Tongue
That being said, let's wait and see how Tangem Ring will actually work.

They'd probably offer it in two/three sizes.
I hope this won't be a new trend.
Imagine someone purchasing Tangem Ring, and than they have to return it and replace with different size.
Bad security written all over it.

The world will probably see even stranger devices.
Probably, but I won't accept body injectable hardware wallet or anything like that, and we are going in that direction Tongue
1023  Other / Archival / Re: [banned mixer] - Maximum Anonymity 📌 Fees 1 - 5‰ on: November 03, 2023, 03:25:08 PM
Locking your door is not foolish. It just makes no sense in most cases.
It depends where you live, and try telling that to people who live in high crime areas.
Try first not locking your car or bike when you get anywhere and see how it goes first, but I suspect you won't have them anymore soon after you start doing that.

Living with this approach is much more peaceful than constantly fearing that robbers will take something from your home. By the way, a door lock won't stop robbers.
Door has a lock, that is meant to be used and not for decoration purpose.
Some people can be paranoid about locking everything all the time, but once you get robbed you quickly change your mindset.
Lock wont protect from pro-robbers, but it will protect your from regular junky looking for a few bucks for his next fix.

Is there some secret list of people who are eligible to participate?

1025  Economy / Exchanges / Re: eXch - instant exchange BTC / LN / XMR / LTC / ETH / ERC20 on: November 03, 2023, 03:01:40 PM
They may not look so popular here on this forum but apparently outside this forum they indeed are, judging by their volume
Very nice volume, and it's not such a bad thing to be under the radar for some people Wink
I didn't hear about eXch from bitcointalk forum, someone recommended it to me and I saw ratings on kycnot.me website.
So far I didn't have a single complain after using eXch for a while, and that is not something I can say for other exchanges I used in past.

Today we were COMMANDED to appear before the GRAND JURY, however, unfortunately all our customers data was lost in the boating accident during transportation of our servers over a river just right before the receipt of that subpoena. Reportedly.
Sorry to hear about terrible boating accident  Sad
It's going to be interesting to see what happens after November 16...

1026  Economy / Goods / Re: Original Ledger Wallet Nano Sealed on: November 03, 2023, 02:41:53 PM
Hi, I have a ledger nano wallet (the one that existed before the ledger nano s) lying around at home, which is still in its original sealed packaging. Is this wallet worth anything? (Collectible?) Are sealed "older" hardwarewallets considered collectibles?
Is this the ledger wallet you own?

They are considered collectibles, especially if they are rear, unique or discontinued, and ledger have a lot of discontinued crap.
I personally wouldn't pay a single sat for ledger nano (maybe other people would pay) but I am not sure if it still works with old Electrum wallet.
Note that this device should NOT be used for storing any real coins!
1027  Economy / Reputation / Re: What's up with all the Bitget shills? on: November 03, 2023, 02:34:23 PM
I didn't notice so much posts about bitget in topics I usually write, but I just checked Ninjastic website and I think there are much more of this shills aka ''paid workers''.
Click on Users to see latest updated list:
https://ninjastic.space/search?content=bitget

Really, I just don't trust businesses that engage in this sort of behavior. It comes across as manipulative and makes me think that if they are willing to do that, what other less-than-forthright things do they do as a business?
Even some of the best brands outside of crypto world are doing similar ''promotions'' like this all the time, it's not like bitget invented this method   Wink

1028  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Help us to remove Freewallet scam wallets from AppStore on: November 03, 2023, 02:27:15 PM
Let's send abuses to AppStore support, asking them to remove all Freewallet builds, including Bitcoin, Ethereum and Monero wallet.
You can do that but you need to have lot of reports for them to do something about it, and they need to be real.
If you start inviting people to create accounts and report freewallet even if they never used it, apple will notice something suspicious.
Apple is known to have more strict rules for releasing any apps on their store, so it's strange they allowed freewallet so easy.

As of writing, the app store URL that works is the none below, the rest are just "Connecting/Resource Not Found" probably all of them are taken down already.
Link works fine for me and opening freewallet page.
1029  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What exactly is mainly stored on a hardware wallet? on: November 03, 2023, 02:04:42 PM
What makes this any different from simply leaving your wallet at home and writing down your private key on the same piece of paper? What use does a hardware wallet serve if you have to write down what is effectively your private key anyhow?
There is no universal answer, and this all depends on model of hardware wallets, there are some that don't even use seed phrases.
Hardware wallets are much different from hot wallets because they are not directly connected to internet in the same way like hot wallets, and risk of losing coins is much smaller.
Some DIY hardware wallets don't even store anything permanently, as soon as you turn it off everything is wiped including seed phrase, so you need to scan QR code or do manual import.
Other hardware wallets are using secure elements for storing seed phrase, others don't have secure element (Trezor One, T) so they use different security model with passphrase.

1031  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Tangem Ring HW - The Lord of the Rings? on: November 02, 2023, 09:04:21 PM
Just when I though I saw all the weird hardware wallets, few days ago Tangem released news about their upcoming Ranger Ring hardware wallet.

First I thought it was some kind of joke, but than I received confirmation from several source, and I see some preview images.

First thing on my mind was about sizing, because you can't have universal one-size-fits-all, fir different fingers.
Second thing  I was wondering, why would you ever want  to wear hardware wallet like a ring all the time...

We know that Tangem Ring will be released on November 3, at Cardano Shitcoin Summit this year, in Dubai, but there is no information about it on Tangem official website.

Anyway here are some preview images and Decrypt article with more information about this ''device'':

1032  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ryder One - Worst Hardware wallet ever? on: November 02, 2023, 06:55:24 PM
Ryder released prices for Ryder One hardware wallet, and it's funny to see that this is only kickstarter project, with prices ranging from $218 to  $2,180 with discount included Shocked
Most expensive price is including ten recovery tags, but this is still way to expensive for hardware wallet, and it's going to be even more expensive after release without discount.
They currently collected €19,813 from 101 backers and their goal is €34,562.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ryder-wallet/ryder-one-secure-wallet-strong-device-simple-transactions

One thing that I like about Ryder is water resistant IP68 that is similar like for modern smartphones, and I think other manufacturers like Trezor and Passport should add that on their devices.
1033  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Are dices for generating seed words fair? on: November 01, 2023, 10:51:26 PM
I suggest everyone to watch this video made by Crypto Guide, it is very much related with this topic.
He explains how some unsecure hardware wallets (read Coldcard) are allowing owners to use weak dice method of generating seed phrases, that resulted in people losing coins.
Video is less than 10 minutes long:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oj_W3xOlt6U

This doesn't mean we shouldn't use dices anymore, but we need to use them properly with high enough entropy.
1034  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Brave Browser installs a VPN service without your permission on: November 01, 2023, 10:42:48 PM
I find it a little contradictory to advertise this browser as a more secure and private option, while at the same time you're being installed with something you're potentially not interested in without your knowledge. On the one hand, I want to believe that it's not that big of a deal, but on the other, I find it unacceptable. What's your opinion about this? Do you believe it's worrying and something to be noted?
Brave browser was always coming with a lot of bloatware, so I am not really surprised about this vpn service installed.
However, you can easily disable this in services, and you can use portable Brave browser that don't install anything on your computer.
I wouldn't use Brave as my main browser, but I don't consider this news alarming.
If you want clean browser that respects privacy without extra crap, you can try Librewolf (based on Firefox), and Tor browser for even more privacy.
1035  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ANN] Cypherock X1 - Hardware based Wallet Aggregator for your Crypto on: November 01, 2023, 10:31:16 PM
Cypherock X1 now ships with a Hard Case - https://twitter.com/CypherockWallet/status/1719697106984972728
I saw this new case in one of the latest Cypherock X1 review videos, and I see you added custom graphics there.
Is this case only protecting from EM waves, but without any protection from elements like fire and water?
You said it's Water Resistant, so that means I can drop it in pool for a short while, like flagship phones or not?

PS
This topic should be in Hardware Wallet section, not in Service Announcements.
1036  Other / Archival / Re: 🌀 [banned mixer] - CoinJoin Mixer | Your Anonymity Is Our Priority! on: November 01, 2023, 10:22:36 PM
Friends, does anyone know how to complain to Google about phishing?

You can report phishing websites directly from Mozilla Firefox browser, just click on three horizontal lines in top right side, than click on Help, and select Report deceptive site.
This redirects to g00gle report page, and there are few other websites I used for reporting scams, this was mostly connected with some security products like antiviruses.
Note that there is no guarantee that g00gle or anyone else will react on reports, unless there is large number of people doing reporting.  Tongue

One idea I had before is adding all phishing websites to some filter for adblockers, but this needs constant monitoring and updating.
1037  Other / Archival / Re: Sinbad.io Mixer - secure, fast and easy to use on: November 01, 2023, 10:13:21 PM
The tradition continues, the new November SINBAD.IO Mixer Bitcoin Price Prediction Challenge is open
Does anyone know who is making this ANN for Sinbad?
Each month designers make different graphics and they are always interesting and look very cool.
I might be needing help from good designers soon for one of my future projects Wink
1038  Economy / Exchanges / Re: eXch - instant exchange BTC / LN / XMR / LTC / ETH / ERC20 on: November 01, 2023, 10:08:55 PM
eXch simply adds normality in crypto space and help people use Bitcoin the way it was meant by Satoshi: in privacy and anonymously. We need more such services, in order for people to become aware of their existence and, slowly, leave behind centralized exchanges.
I want so see more kyc free exchanges that work with fiat/cash.
We have only few options right now like Bisq exchange or Peach bitcoin, but they all have some limitations, so I can see some new services filling this gaps.

Yes, no kyc, they also don't log ip addresses
I wouldn't blindly trust anyone who is saying that IP addresses are not saved somewhere, so I suggest that you always use Tor browser and official eXch exchange onion link.
This improves overall privacy and it makes it much harder for anyone to track what you are doing online.

1039  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Krux DIY Hardware Wallet on: October 31, 2023, 08:08:07 PM
I just started playing with Krux I installed on a Maix Amigo and I absolutely cannot get it it to scan an animated QR code from Bluewallet. Started a multisig tx on Bluewallet and trying to get the Krux to sign it and it just won’t read the QR via camera. Any tips?
Not all QR codes are made equal  Tongue
If you don't find any solution on Krux github page than try asking for help in Krux telegram group, they usually reply on questions there.

1040  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Recovery - Send your (encrypted) recovery phrase to 3rd parties entities on: October 31, 2023, 07:59:08 PM
Coincover says it will never give up its share of the key, even if it receives court orders. Unless it's extremely radical, but...
It doesn't say anything ''radical'', they simply say legal obligation, that is just one phone call or visit from any law enforcement agency.

One interesting thing I heard recently about new upcoming ''law'' in EU is that police could have legal right to seize and take away crypto from you even if they don't have any proof against you, only suspicion is enough for them.
