Last time I checked this forum had millions in BTC\USD in donations, but still hackers are hacking away at such old software and hacking in almost as easily as signing in with a password. Since I've been here, this is the 4th time this has happened. Can I ask, when the forum operators notice a hack is going on why don't you just turn the server or VPS off for a while? Nothing deters a planned attack then nothing to attack. But instead you leave the place up and running to all our passwords once again can get compromised.
Really, what are you doing with all that donation money? You can run 20 forums with all the bitcoin you have.

I would set the p= in the password to 0.0110 to 0.0115 and let it roll. There have been spikes in SHA-256 the past 2 weeks at times to 30% over +.
i haven't played with the options like p= at all...but with the profit being -5% I thought I might. so I set one of my s3's to be p=.011, saved/applied and then rebooted. I don't know if .011 is really a good value. would love peoples thoughts. my s3 now shows that for westhash its "dead" and is mining at my secondary location. How often does the s3 check on the primary mining location, westhash, to see if it should switch back to westhash for mining? thoughts are absolutely welcome. I would use 0.0115 myself--nice/westhash charges a fee, so you want to make sure you take that into consideration. I use the calculator at bitcoinwisdom (on the diff page, top right) to determine what the 100% mark is per 1TH, then I bump that number up to make sure it's profitable. YMMV, but this will help you catch the crazy 30%+ rental fees without you worry about wasting hash when it's less profitable. I went to the bitcoinwisdom diff page but didn't see any numbers like .0115 or anything close. What are you changing to see the current price paid?

Hi, I am on ghash but I seem to be getting less than I expected. Is it the same for you or was it some other kind of problem from my side (my connection has not been very good)?
Best regards, ilpirata79
I think everyone running on this pool is getting less then expected. I have one rig getting over 7000 stale shares within just an hour. Makes me wonder where they really go to. I'll be jumping ship real soon since the return here is horrible. Should be getting .07 with my tiny setup but only seeing .03 here daily. Someone's greedy.

If someone can find a fan adapter that lets you still use the PWM feature and power it from the PSU that's what I'm looking for. Even if it's just one single cable with a 4 pin molex connector on it. I've been searching online and can't find such product. Lacking search skills these days.
why dont you just make it? the red and black go on molex the yellow and blue on the fan header. but that woudlnt really fix the issue, the fan would still shut down if the board told it to.. what you want is a 2nd computer controlled fan pwm board that has temp sensors.. i dont know if such a thing exists.. im sure you can build one, but i bet it would cost more then its worth. My bad for bringing that insane option up. The whole idea is TO AWAY from the controller board where the problem lies and ditch PWM. Throw on a couple Noctura IPCC 3000's on each side powered directly from the PSU and I have my 58-60c constant. Now I don't have to worry if that issue comes back where it will disconnect and stop mining but the heat will just keep increasing. I've eliminated that with attaching the fans to the PSU directly. Don't need PWM, they were always at 2700 or so anyway. 6 year warranty on those fans, they may as well get their time in the light.

some of you are using firmware smith with cgminer 4.9? for antminer s5?
Have that on all my S5's. Bitmain doesn't want to make their own so we have to use other people's talents in programming. Run very stable.

Can we not forget about the run away heating with the fans slowing down? We've had about 10 confirmations that this happens and actually a couple users can replicate this issue at will. Best solution of course is to have Bitmain itself resolve the issue in the software but the best ALTERNATIVE is "thedreamers" solution to hook up fans directly to the PSU and not caring about PWM or anything. Just run the fan(s) at %100. I'd rather have a little noise and dusty fans then blown miners.

Angers me to see people paying out of their own pockets when the manufacturer should be. Not like they can't afford it, right?

are two days that restart my s5, bought from 1 week, and this morning the result is what you see in the picture. What should I do now with bitmainwarranty? That looks to be the same symptoms we have with the miners we are investigating. I suggest taking of the plastic sides and looking at the hashboards for damage to the G337 V2 capacitors. Look for cracked packages or signs of smoke exhaust. Your issue is probably different, but this is easy enough to check for. J4bberwock, thanks for the lead. These do indeed appear to be capacitors with a 2V withstand voltage. I'm surprised that capacitors were damaged like this. I thought the component would be something that generates heat itself. Curious. May I ask what voltage the fried caps are suppose to see? And these are in series across the voltage supplied to each ASIC? So, the 12vdc from the power supply is divided equally across the ASICs? This is what I took away from the series ASICs description. Are those who are seeing the blown caps using the power supply adapter having a resistor or just using the paperclip jumper? I ask because KnC had a similar problem of blown caps and I theorized the motherboard actually on the plug allowed a different rise time on the voltages, e.g. without the mb and a paperclip instead, a ramp for the max current didn't ramp instead jumped to full with the result of a turn-on voltage spike - sometimes. I would bet most here just have a paper clip or EVGA has it's little "tester" which is basically the same thing as the paperclip. No resistance at all.

A random observation: 1. It seems that upon loss of internet connection, S5 sometimes latches on a funky state: fan is not spinning or spinning minimally, but temperature is rising. 2. We had intermittant comcast problems in the last few days, so i observed it on a few occasions. 3. I felt that air coming out was very hot, and upon restarting the miner by PSU, miner reported 0 hashing, but temperatures of above 80 degrees at the sensor, so i had to switch it off for 10-20 min, then it worked as it should.
I believe that someone described something similar before. The solution should be in software, which should maintain fan speed at a certain (closer to high) speed until internet connection is reestablished.
The fact is that the S5 miner does not fully switch itself off on internet drop or, at least, does not maintain fan speed long enough to coool the machine after internet dropoff.
I mentioned this exact same thing happened to me before. Maybe 3 weeks ago or so in this thread. Even a couple others mentioned the same thing and had screen shots showing over 80 degrees, which shouldn't even happen if the shutdown is 80. All my rigs stopped because of a sporadic internet connection. Miners fans stopped and they all turned into little heaters, getting hotter and hotter. All I needed to do was put my hand or face near one of them and felt the heat spewing off. Thank god I was home to power them off or all my rigs would have over heated. I mentioned and tried to bring this up but nothing came about because I had no "proof" it seems. This happened to me twice on all 6 of my S5's and both times I was lucky enough to be home and power off.

Hey, how has mining here been with users hitting SHA-256 %100 lately? Is it worth to mine here as like a regular pool like BTCGuild? I'm so busy with work it has been hard to keep up on what's going on. That's why I can't configure my pool with a price since I just don't have time to check every day. Oh well, just curious. Was mining %100 for a bit but was getting pretty low payouts. I gotta get into the rental arena, maybe during some vacation time I can read up. Indeed cool stuff. Too bad bitcoin's block chain is so damn big and just getting so much larger wonder how it will end up. I've read so many places where another alt coin is just gonna blow by bitcoin because more efficiency and security. Bitcoin seems bloated now...but then again why am I rambling?

I'm trying to mine 6 S5's right now on this pool at %100. Are speeds in GH/s move up real slow? I see 4750, 5000, but not just 6000 yet and at a total I have 6.9TH/s pointed there. Been like that for over a week, so the payments are nice. But want to make sure getting all the juice there.

Why they are selling used, dirty hardware to loyal customer's isn't correct. I wanted to establish a long term business relationship with them but when I mentioned about receiving used hardware I just got odd excuses and weird responses just as you did. I usually contact and speak with Yoshi since he's been wonderful since the day I started buying Bitmain products but the last few engagements about receiving used hardware was pretty much just left on the table by them. I would have worked together to resolve that issue but lack of responses and no willingness to correct the issues just weren't present. I still would love to keep a business relationship with Bitmain but when you think about the past experiences it almost forces you to look at other hardware manufacture's. There will become a time when these hardware manufacture's need to sell hardware again and make money but we will also be in power with our pockets at that time to buy other hardware. I also remember the price hike when the S5's were available and since Bitmain knew they were the only ones selling at that time sort of took advantage of that in more of a greedy sense then smart business. I've owned a couple other brands of mining hardware and none of them were used. They all had fresh new car smell. Using an excuse about dust or testing them is just being rude to us and disrespectful. It is unfortunate so many miners couldn't stand up to this type of business practice, because all they wanted to do was get them mining and didn't care if they were new or not. There is really not much more to say....a lot of us are in the same boat. p.s. My dad received used old hardware also from Bitmain. Old revision 1.3 boards. Completely different design then 1.7, 1.9 revisions. This miner with stock fan would reach abnormally high temps on one board, the old board of course. We brought attention to Bitmain about how dirty, dusty and used it was but really didn't get anywhere with having it replaced. There was no willingness on Bitmain's part to replace it. Anyway, the miner was taken apart, cleaned and new thermal compound applied. Put back together and now it is the coolest running rig in the whole bunch. Temps dropped considerably and stay at a constant 46-48. This type of thermal was used. http://www.arcticsilver.com/cmq2.html. So, if you have a few boards that just can't keep the temps down you may need to clean and re-paste your thermal compound. Will I buy Bitmain products again? Right now, no. I'll just stick with buying coin, since no hardware right now could make back what it cost.

I was going to buy a couple more S5's but the price is still $340, so I just bought bitcoin instead. I even asked Bitmaintech to see if they would lower the price considering it's been there for quite some time and they are shipping used hardware anyway. Nothing received in stone. Only reason I wanted to grab 1 or 2 more is because I have a free electrical outlet. You guys still aren't buying them at that price point, are you? I doubt the last sale they had no one will ROI anyway unless free electric and free power supplies all the way.

Nicehash, where do you suggest to get the most recent and accurate information on what we should use as our password. Do you recommend using your main page for SHA-256? Currently it indicates 0.0119 and wondered if using that number or going up a bit higher to make it worth it? I wouldn't want my rigs switching too many times I guess. May as well want to make it worth it. I also some times do not have the access to change my password field, limited access to my miners. So that in itself could be a bust for me to use this type of proxy hashing. What do you think?
We have "percentage p=" on todo list, where you would be able to only specify % above or below current profitability of ideal 100% luck bitcoin mining. But even this would not solve the possible price tag, where your miners may constantly switch on/off. It is impossible to say what price to set that your miners would never fall into this mode. It is good practice to use PPS backup pool for switching. Another option is; you may simply ignore p=. NiceHash paid 4% above ideal 100% luck bitcoin mining in past 30 days and with 2% fee this means 2% above ideal 100% luck bitcoin mining. There are no other pools that can guarantee you this with extremely regular payments. Not to mention extreme spikes that can happen (paycoin for example). Down spikes are not often or very big - we have a lot of buyers that do arbitrage and they pull the price up towards 100% luck bitcoin mining. If you want guaranteed payment, mine with NiceHash. If you want to gamble, choose other pools or even solo pools. Thank you very much for your information. It is much appreciated.

What the fuck ever, Kano. My numbers are in fact correct when calculating what you will actually get paid when you compare that to the predicted payout. That is precisely what the poster was asking when I answered his question. Why you get paid a certain amount on different pools was not being discussed and you are just trying to obfuscate things by introducing strawman arguments.
You should have just told me that you were running a pool and you were here to try to drive people away from here to your pool, it would have saved a lot of keystrokes.
Dude, forget it. Not worth arguing with this guy. He's the most rude pool operator around and will follow you around the forums making sure to point out every thing he can to make you look bad or like an idiot. Every pool operator I've ever asked questions to, spoke with and had communications with had patience, and acted in a grown up professional manner. This guy is just out of control. Besides his cronies that think he's an idol he's basically a dick to anyone that isn't "in the group" or something. You'll eventually see the results when the pool gets smaller and smaller. No one wants to be running their hardware on a pool where the operator is an ass. Plain and simple. Just read a few pages back. He told me to go fuck myself. I was being as passive and nice as I can and the dude just flips. He definitely has an anger problem. Yea, he drives people away. Don't know why.
