I'm interested in seeing how Knc will manage to cool a ~3000W Neptune beast.

Jupiter heatsinks are very large, and they are only able to cool ~300W each. Obviously, there is not enough room for 10 Jupiter type heatsinks in a Neptune unless the case is twice as large.

They aren't going to cool it. They're going to make the customer's to that.

Just wanted to thank the forum-goers today.  This outage lasted a lot longer than I would've liked (well, hard to have any outage that is shorter than 0 minutes), and lasted longer than my original projections due to just how long the resync took.

However, for the first time in quite a while, the thread remained clear of useless posts, no demands, no crying foul.  Even my email inbox was *mostly* empty during this event.  The ability to concentrate solely on the task at hand (and providing updates) really made it easier to focus than having to pull double-duty as public relations.

Now to compensate us some dividends. Even my car insurance company does that.

My October Jupiter hashes at 425Gh/s (has the Die0) issue.   I've wasted so much time (and downtime) messing around with it I've given up.

Any Toronto-based Jupiter miners interested in some pocket scratch in exchange for coming in to get mine up to speed?

After I did what it said in the post that was on KNC's website, my father's DIE came back alive and he's now hasing %100. Here is the link:

http://forum.kncminer.com/forum/main-category/main-forum/24988-0-99-tuning-suite-instructions-october-miners

Thanks!   I tried messing with that a few times and it killed more dies.   I'll give it another whirl!

Make sure you don't jump up voltage. Just increase it to the next one and then WAIT. Don't rush into it. After my dad changed his SPI to 2.40 he had to wait approx 5 minutes before the DIE came back alive. I think if you shock it too much with increasing it too quickly that won't help.

Neptunes are still very much in the preliminary design phase.

a bit smelly to get this information just one day after the last batch sold out..

+1

Why is everyone surprised all of a sudden? I've been saying over the last few weeks these won't be around until at least late spring summertime. And that's even a light time line. Everyone was such on a KNC high drinking the cool-aid self diluting themselves they would believe anything. You guys really have to watch some marketing/sales videos. KNC took some sales tactics right out of some popular ones. Like announcing a sale for a very sought after product (knowing it would never come) then putting another one (at a much higher price) on for sale. This is like in the first volume on how to incur sales. It was very obvious to someone that wasn't drinking the cool-aid or wasn't on a money high.

KNC doesn't want to be in the power supply business so they will never accommodate a power supply in any of their rigs. They also don't want to deal with the RMA issues of power supplies either, since people blow them  up all the time. They will design their Neptunes and all future rigs without space for power supplies. Why are people asking for a status on Neptunes? I'm guessing they are still in the design phase just on paper/computer right now and still making design changes. Did everyone forget the original "expected" delivery date was Q1/Q2? That's a 6 month window. That's the only thing that kept me from spending any bitcoin at all. It was horrible waiting 2 months for my Jupiter I couldn't possibly wait that long on something and then not know if it would even break even. The difficulty alone has taken my upgraded Saturn to 0.19 / day. And that drop was pretty quick. I never even saw .4, .3, or even .2. Right from .5 to .19. All I can say is good luck Neptune buyers, I wish you big time luck!

As I said 30 times on this forum (because people just say what they want and this thread has gotten way out of control) there WILL NOT be any Jupiters for sale. The mention of selling Jupiters on December 14th in their newsletter, "So keep some coins handy as we expect them to go quick" was purely a marketing/sales pitch for their unexpected flash sale of Neptunes for a much higher price. And people came on here asking where are the Jupiters? Thinking they would actually go on sale and kept asking like they were hypnotized or something. It was so obvious once the Neptunes went on sale again. I guess if you believe something so much you just start to think it is true and no matter how obvious something is it doesn't matter what the reality is. And I just read obama/rama or whatever his name said no Jupiters because of a bottleneck issue? Huh? It's been over a month. 30 days. 730 hours. There was never going to be a Jupiter sale. People want them so bad because of that greed factor and when that takes a hold of you there just isn't anything else in the brain.

They never had any Jupiters ready to sell...they weren't made. So the logic in telling us, "So keep some coins handy as we expect them to go quick" just doesn't fit.

I apologize for writing this again, but it just baffles me to see people still asking where the Jupiters are.

How come BTC Guild reports much higher hashing rate when I'm connected to the EU server then the US server? I'm located in the Northeast of the US.

1069  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: January 15, 2014, 04:00:07 PM
You can still order a cointerra for $6k, indicates a delivery in May which could be before the Neptunes are delivered. A whole $4,000 less may be the way to go. Or, better yet...order 2 of them for the same price a lot of people ordered the $13k Neptune for. And they come with power supplies.

Cointerra has done a fine job at pricing, and if their production/shipment line goes full swing, I believe KNC will see quite a bruteforce level of competition. Lots of ifs there, but still. KNC is a quality product and they've done extremely well overall, but they may just be facing an uphill battle this year, especially since they haven't even taped out yet.

In-hand and time-to-delivery are, afterall, cornerstone aspects of this market.

It is nice that Cointerra is supplying PSU's, that's value added. Devil's Advocate: KNC allows you to choose what PSU is best for you, and if a PSU goes down, quicker/easier to replace.

They are just regular ATX power supplies and can be changed out. And since they are of the ATX standard, their sizing all should be the same. I guess if someone is hung up on what power supplies to use they can change them out, but having them included in the price that less expensive is pretty nice. And I'm sure they would also carry some kind of warranty. It is nice to see some competition. It's not fun having just one company monopolize the bitcoin mining arena. In due time I can guarantee you KNC will be more verbal and start showing themselves more often on the forums and maybe even in their own forums as well as competition usually does that.

Alright damn it. I'm a dick, but I'll apologize for being one last night. Me and the wife had a horrible argument that set me off and she's the only one in this world that knows how to press my buttons. Compounding my misery last night I also had a 4TB hard drive die on my media server which caused a big headache. Then to finally sit down and apply a new shiney firmware to my miner only to not able to connect to the Guild was too much for me to handle. It was just a really bad night.

There doesn't seem to be any problems with the private server which I believe is in the US.

There is a private server? Why is it private? You pay more fees or something?

Is there an ETA when we will be able to connect to the US server again?
I think we have 5 or 6 confirmed cases already.

Access to the private server is by invitation.  In the past, Eleuthria has offered access to many others during persistent DoS attacks.

So us public scum bags pay the same fees you pay but you have access to "private" servers we can't access? Nepotism at its best here. I guess the fees I pay aren't that good to get into the "private" club.

Hey, why don't you ask for access?  If you have some significant hashing power I'm sure eleuthria would be happy to oblige.

But then again, you're such a DICK he might not.

Lol

What is this high school here? I'm a DICK, get over it and deal with it. Ignore me. I was the first one to mention having connection problems and bitched about it. So what. The pool operator has to keep his public pool going just as smoothly as the private pool or that means lost revenue. If everyone jumps on the private pool then it wouldn't be private anymore, would it.

Sorry, I'd rather not play circle jerk with the boys and get all giddy cause I'm on a private server. I'll just switch over to Eligius if this can't be taken care of soon. It has only been about 5 hours or so.

He was doing major upgrades to the servers and apparently something went wack. I'm just wondering where he is now. Before he gets hundreds of people dropping to other pools because they cannot connect you'd think he'd be around since major changes were just done. I'm able to connect to Eligius,  and other pools, and right now if I reboot my rig looks like I won't be able to connect to any BTC Guild server.

I thought eleuthria never sleeps?

I'm still only able to connect on the EU server. My Dad who is connected and hashing on the US server was going to update his firmware but I told him not to since he may not be able to re-connect after his reboot. Just a little nervous, that's all since this never happened to me before.

Me too. One of my BF rigs suddenly does not like the US server. EU server is OK though.

Strange.

I go and try to get my second Cube running tonight and I restarted my main PC that is running the proxy and BFGminer...and neither would reconnect to the US server.  After looking here and seeing others having the same trouble, I pointed them at the EU server and they roared back to life.  I'll try to point them back at the US server in the morning....

So that's 3 confirmed users that can't connect to the US servers, 4 hours later and I'm still running on the EU server. Can't connect to the US server.

1079  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will it hit $1000 again? on: January 15, 2014, 01:47:47 AM
Again, no it won't, but my tax attorney said that I need to stop betting on this stuff, so I won't be betting any more with fiat or bitcoin.  If it does hit $1000 again (which I know it won't because of sources), then I'll send the next person to post...my guitar pick and one of my socks.

You  just said you can predict the future. Are you being serious? Can your "sources" predict the future?
I'm terrible at math, have no idea about stocks, trades or anything of that nature but do know one can't predict what will happen in the future.

1080  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: January 15, 2014, 01:33:45 AM
What do you think the safest die voltage level is while keeping the SPI voltage on automatic? I have an October 4VRM rig with 4 modules. I know my way around a linux system and can program pretty easily but when it comes to electrical stuff I'm kind of in left field. I just don't want to blow up my Dad's rig.

50A = Very Safe
57A - Safe

Thanks!
You mean keep increasing the volts on the DIE until and I'll see the AMPS increase?
