621  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Unconfirmed transactions for over an hour now... on: October 08, 2014, 01:38:38 AM
Blockchain adds the smallest fee possible, and some greedy pools wont include the transaction (ghash). I waited 5 hours for my Blockchain transaction to get picked up on Friday. I've waited 3-4 blocks before but this time was ridiculous.

From now on I'll add my own fee.

It just ended up being a slow bitcoin network.
622  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Unconfirmed transactions for over an hour now... on: October 07, 2014, 09:26:08 PM
Anyone else seeing this? Blockchain DOES indicate a fee was added, so it should go through. It never took an hour for 1 confirmation, unless the hackers are at it again.

This is a beautiful and proper built miner!

Indeed, it's beautiful well built professional grade hardware, if only the price...

Beautiful well built hardware is great but it does no good if btc price keeps falling and difficulty keeps going up. How good is a miner if BTC goes sub $100 and it costs more to power the thing than it earns.  Cry

It's not getting any better either. Unfortunately since most manufacturer's run a pre-order model a lot of people are just screwed right now because of the value of BTC right now. Yea, you can be optimistic about it and say it will jump back up, but no one wants to wait over a year to get their money back and by that time it is already obsolete hardware. I just feel bad for anyone that ordered anything now. I'm already looking to turn off at the hosting facility because BTC is so low. Once it starts costing more to run, power off.

I'm confused, if I visit tradeblocks mining speculation and plug in the numbers for the SP20, even if I enter the diff increase to a number 1 it still doesn't profit anything. Are people actually ordering these SP20's on the hope alone that BTC will rise or something? It is the weekend again, so I have to post one thing about extraordinary price gauging. At least I'm able to buy BTC while it is so cheap. And if all this "hope" is here, then maybe it will increase one day late next year.

625  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: October 04, 2014, 11:38:01 PM
main point i asked how many bitcoins this machine SP35 that looks to have 6000 ghs can mine monthly......

Probably a lot less than it costs you

Mining is a dead game, you won't ROI with such pre-orders that take 2 months and difficulty rising the way it is.

Just bummed the price of bitcoin/USD is dropping by the day. Need to get hardware free to make money. Smiley

Please, a real picture of this Prisma!
627  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: September 25, 2014, 11:23:26 PM
I went to 1.5.6 on my two SP10's and hashing speeds dropped from a solid 1.4TH to a 1.38TH.

628  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: Prisma group buy on: September 25, 2014, 10:29:54 PM
I'd be interested, but there needs to be more information. Or links to the product itself?
629  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] ASICMiner Prisma 1.4th/s - 1.54 BTC - Group Buy Batch 2 on: September 25, 2014, 10:28:27 PM
What do these look like? I'm surprised there isn't one photo of it here. Also, does it come assembled and ready to mine or you need to buy other parts for it?

We open sales in USD https://112bit.com

Even with free electricity you wouldn't get all your money back. These manufacturers must have gotten together and made a deal with one another to keep a certain price point. I'm not sure why anyone would spend that kind of money for only 2TH? It just doesn't make any sense to buy something that's supposed to make you a little money, but guaranteed not to and you still buy it? Maybe drugs or something?

631  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: September 25, 2014, 09:43:42 PM
Does anyone here know when SP30 September batch are supposed to be hosted or shipped?

It's almost October.  Should be called October batch instead and the October batch are really November batch in reality.   It's off by a month.

Its the same with all manurfactuers , August batch shipped around 25-28 0f aug , why would sept batch be any different.
Incorrect. We're building, testing and shipping (or hosting) each day.

Blasphemy! Can't work on a holiday!

And by the way, anyone who bought an SP3x or SP2x you'll never break even. Sorry, I had to say it. I can't help myself. I'm an addict.

632  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: September 21, 2014, 04:27:10 PM
People, this thread is out of control. I'm tempted to split off about 100 pages of it for being offtopic, but the ST team have graciously allowed it so far despite it being a self moderated thread. Can we please stick to the topic as the signal to noise ratio for a spondoolies tech hardware thread is far too low and mostly speculation and scam accusations and name calling and other unrelated nonsense.  Stay on topic please. Splitting the various discussions that go on will be impossible so I'm just going to start deleting offtopic posts.

Less posts means the topic starts to float to the bottom. SP-TECH won't let that happen.

633  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: September 21, 2014, 04:05:41 PM
Because it's a major discussion in the S3 Thread:

Is Spondoolies-Tech using the latest version of cgminer (v4.6.0) in all their products?
We pull latest cgminer from github every time we build.
Spondoolies is the ONLY company remaining that is in sync with the mainline cgminer code and always push upstream any driver changes.
Only on their current/new hardware. My SP10 has an old 4.4.1 version still and that's the latest firmware. So that statement isn't entirely true. It runs just fine, I just thought that comment was a little off.

That is not correct. The latest version for SP10 is 1.5.4 and there is experimental 1.5.6, I think.
Also it is simple to compile cgminer for SP10 and push it to /etc/bin.
I never got request to update cgminer.

edit: our latest cgminer version for sp10 is 4.5.0 in version 1.5.8. You will need to upgrade sw twice to latest because the line was renamed SP1x.

Strange, yesterday there wasn't any new firmware for the SP10 and I check today, there is one. Now it may have the latest cgminer making that statement true now.

Thanks- is it worth to update if the old firmware worked ok?

How trust worthy are http://www.michigan-colocation.com/.

I'm planning to give my SP-30's to them. Anyone else hosting with them?

Can I change the pools at anytime? Do they give VPN?

Very trustworthy. And they give you a direct IP address to your miner so you can access it as if it was right in front of you. Also reliable.

Gun manufacturers aren't sued if people go around killing everyone with their guns. If he's older then 18 and a human being he has the right to do what he wants. Freedom baby.

Incorrect, 3 recent examples:

http://news.yahoo.com/theater-shooting-victims-parents-sue-ammo-seller-170824059.html

Quote
Bryco Arms declared bankruptcy in 2003 as a result of losing a lawsuit filed in Oakland, California and which resulted in a jury award of a record $24 million judgment against Bryco Arms. The lawsuit stemmed from an injury to a then 7-year old boy named Brandon Maxfield received from a 12-year old who was attempting to unload the 380 ACP version of the Bryco Arms Model 38. The 12 year old pulled the trigger with a round still in the gun while it was pointed at Maxfield. The ensuing negligent discharge paralyzed Brandon Maxfield from the neck down.

etc......

Sad story, but I still don't see how the gun manufacturer is responsible for the boys death. The bigger problem is the law system allows the gun manufacturer to actually get sued. Having a loaded firearm available for a 12 year old boy to get to is the registered guns owners fault. It just boils down to people feeling guilty about what happened and want to make someone pay. They're also greedy scoundrels. Ok, way off topic. Have to read Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act.

I've noticed a pattern, you do your catch up (and venting) usually during the weekend.

You avoid reading the forum during the week?

Guy

Yep, some people have jobs and work a long work week.

As far as I know this sort of direct wiring from the fuse panel to the outlet is no different on a european panel than it is on either a 2-phase 120/240V or 3-phase 120/208V breaker panel.
What can I say? You are just an ignorant idiot. I even provided the links describing the differences between UK and US electrical wiring.

I'm all for capitalism and transfer of capital from stupid people in "old world" to smart people in "new world".

But what is now happening here is a sort of homicide/suicide pact done over the web forum. A homicide on the part of idiot giving the advice. Suicide on the part of idiot willing to follow the advice. It is a significant step beyond simple transfer of capital.

Thus far the worst occurrence related to Bitcoin mining was one guy suffering heat-stroke or brain-stroke after falling asleep in his very hot bedroom filled with mining equipment.

What is happening here (if followed literally to completion) will quite probably end in actual injury or death of boscocoin. The libertarian in me isn't really against it, if boscocoin has a death wish then let him fulfill it. But it may be a bad marketing for Spondoolies if boscocoin kills himself trying to install their miner.  So I'm somewhat torn ethically. On one hand I'm not really against ruthless people (like bobsag3 and klondike_bar) ripping off naive people. But when the ruthlessness moves into potential death-causing misadventures, I think I'm ethically obliged to raise an alarm.

I'll wait for the comment from the Israeli people who manage this thread.

Ok.. Hosting seems to be bit expensive. I have allocated some rack space in my room near the window. And also with my air-con. I'm not fussy about the noise. The only issue now would be the power coming off the wall. I know London sockets support 240v. If I do plug two of the units will there be any issues like the units blowing up or anything?

What is the worst that could happen? Just my trip would be turned off right?

I can change the electrics in the room. I had to manually create extra sockets which I fed off another power wire.

Funny, 2 SP30's in the same rack where the music studio is. I just don't get it.
639  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: September 20, 2014, 07:38:47 PM
@boscocoin

That AC is barely enough for ONE sp30.

When you say "in your room" I hope you do not mean that you will be staying in that room when the units are in there?

Evacuating 3kW of heat from a 2U case produces a significant amount of noise....

These sp30s are optimised for datacenter performance and not meant to be a home solution.
They can be a home solution with proper AC / airflow engineering, but hardly in a closed room.

Apart from the fact that AC equipment is expensive, running it also adds to your electricity bill, and unless you get WA state power rates, that will mean a big increase in your hosting cost.

Wow. Noise can be mitigated by buying an expensive ($5K) cabinet, but heat?
people just look at the production numbers and don't think about heat, which is a MAJOR issue (for home).

Ok I guess I will need to find a cheap hosting place in London. Anyone know any cheap ones in London I could go with? And the average costs per month including electricity?

Should have done a little more investigating before these simple answers can be found in a few minutes. While bitcoin is at a low right now, sending your units to a hosting facility you probably won't make your money back if you paid retail.
