1681  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury - February 26 in Saudi Arabia on: February 09, 2023, 06:23:32 AM
It appears that Tommy Fury is learning the tricks to win before the fight begins from his brother Tyson hehehe. I am only speculating about this, however, not appearing for a press conference to cause an opponent to be angry might be something Tyson Fury might do. Jake Paul might have forgotten that the Gypsy King is always with the family first.

Jake Paul wasn’t happy to learn that his upcoming boxing adversary Tommy Fury skipped out on their first pre-fight press conference.

During a recent press conference, Paul unloaded on Fury for no-showing to promote the fight.

“He’s a flake,” Paul said of Fury. “He’s not a serious businessman, he’s not a serious fighter. I’m gonna prove that. That’s why this fight is called ‘The Truth’, because the truth’s gonna come out and he’s gonna have to pay for all the times he’s pulled out…

“It’s disrespectful. There’s some of the biggest names in boxing, some of the biggest promoters in the world, some of the most influential people in the world, one of the greatest countries in the world…and he doesn’t show up because of a private matter… it shows me he’s scared. He said he didn’t need to train for this fight, but meanwhile his excuse first was that he needed to train extra for this fight…it’s typical Fury stuff… I like Tyson, but the dad and Tommy, it’s typical from them.”

1682  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 2000 sandbox would do? on: February 09, 2023, 05:41:50 AM
Metaverse gaming platform The Sandbox and Saudi Arabia have come to an understanding of some sort. Details were not provided.

Sandbox co-founder and COO Sebastien Borget took to LinkedIn to announce the news. “It was a true honor to sign our [memorandum of understanding] partnership … between The Sandbox and the Saudi Arabia Digital Government Authority,” he wrote. “We look forward to exploring, advising and supporting mutually each other in activations of the Metaverse!”

Source https://www.theblock.co/post/209458/saudi-arabia-the-sandbox-agree-to-collaborate-on-metaverse-projects

With this i am sensing some serious money flows coming in. Saudi money is in whole different level and first thing that came to mind was collaboration with the smart city called "The Line".
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Line,_Saudi_Arabia
Projects like that can give a glimpse how much money are they dealing with.

However them being Saudi Arabia i am thinking they would have some ideas with censorship and any critizism of politics could end up being a problem.

It appears that you did not understand. There is very much of a chance that this news about Saudi Arabia is nothing but to hype Sandbox and cause a pump on Sand tokens before the vesting unlock on February 14. It might only be an exit pump for those new tokens taken into circulation to dump. The other projects with token unlocks might also start doing something similar to this hehehe.
1683  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Crypto lender Celsius mulls possible restructuring amid financial woes on: February 09, 2023, 04:30:22 AM
Calling it a small fraction if compared to the total money they stole is downplaying it from what they really owe hehehe. It is not a fraction. It is a small drop of water in a wide ocean. According the court filings, Celsius owes $4.3 billion to customers.

$11 million is only .26% of $4.3 billion.
I don't see how I downplayed it by writing "a small fraction", but if we are nitpicking then I could say that you are downplaying the amount that will be paid out because one drop of water makes considerably less than 0.26% of any ocean, or even a bottle of water.  Grin

Okay this is not a small drop on a wide ocean, however, this is still very very very very very much a small fraction of $4.3 billion and those hustlers in Celsius know that they are certainly going to get away with this.

I am not certain if these articles saying that Celsius has been insolvent from the beginning but appears the truth is coming out.

A new report by Jenner & Block attorney Shoba Pillay, the bankruptcy court-appointed Examiner of Celsius, claims that Celsius “on a stand-alone basis has been insolvent since inception.” The report, which centers around Celsius’s native token, argues that the crypto lender used CEL as the centerpiece of a scheme to enrich executives at customers’ cost.

It was a ponzi scheme from the beginning.

Super depressing though knowing NFL football is almost over for quite some time  Cry

Agreed!

@NFLexperts. Should we have 2 leagues for the next season? League 1 will be opened earlier, drafted earlier and the fee will be 50% cheaper. League 2 will be our regular league similar to what we are doing already.
1685  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 2000 sandbox would do? on: February 08, 2023, 02:54:32 AM
It's really hard to predict if these platforms stick as i think they are pretty much duct tape solutions for fast as possible metaverse adoption. I think that there will be better tech ahead and these get left far behind like some bulky and weird tv and radio combinations in the past.

Just be aware that a whale might Be dumping it soon

This is definitely not a good idea to buy this token right now, after seeing the news whales are moving large chunks of SAND to Binance. The risk to be taken doesn't worth considering the currently scenario. It's better to wait and see what these whales have in mind and what they are going to do with their tokens next, before making any moves. In times like this it's possible whales liquidate their tokens in order to raise funds to boost bitcoin price, starting a new rally.

Also according to some people in social media, Sand will have a big vesting unlock on February 14. I am quite certain there is more chance of this to be dumped after that date. However, traders can join the pump before the vesting unlock and dump hours before this hehehe. There will certainly be good announcements that will be published to hype this project, pump the token and make it ready for an exit dump.

This is one of these types announcements. They will be vague without real details shared. If you are a trader, it might be profitable to have an unlock calendar on projects and trade the unlock exit pumps hehehehee.

Let's stop spreading FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt) in the crypto world and start trading the FUD Token (FTX Users' Debt). It is a symbol of positivity in the crypto world, it represents a commitment to transparency and trust in the market.

The listing of FUD Token on reputable exchanges like @HuobiGlobal is a clear indication that the crypto industry is moving in a positive direction. The demand for #FUD Token is a sign of confidence in the market, and a vote of support for a positive attitude towards crypto.

This FTX debt token seems like a disaster in the making. It was meant to have a fair value under $5 (20M token for $100M debt), but speculative traders have driven the price to an unrealistic level, reaching $113 high yesterday and currently trading at $64 on Huobi.

Would advise anyone to stay away from this shitshow.

Agreed. Another pump and dump scheme from one of our favorite hustlers in the cryptospace, Justin Sun. I speculate that he needs a new Lamborgini hehehe.

He is the owner of exchanges Huobi and Poloniex but he promotes a clear scam. This is an example and this shows that the cryptospace is run by comedians, hustlers and scammers.
1687  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Crypto lender Celsius mulls possible restructuring amid financial woes on: February 08, 2023, 12:46:46 AM
How much does everyone speculate Celsius will pay out? I reckon less than $10 million.
You were very close with your prediction as according to the article below, Celsius is supposed to pay out ~$11 million worth of crypto. So yeah, its a small fraction of money compared to the total amount owed.

There were just 15,680 customers, however, who held around $43.87 million in what’s known as “Pure Custody” the entire time. It is this latter group that will see 100% funds returned, as per the bankruptcy court judge.

“Pure custody” would include users Celsius’s Custody and Withold Accounts, which effectively acted as crypto wallets.

But it is only users who held their funds in “Pure Custody” the entire time that will get 100% of their capital back due to rules around “preferential transfers.”

Customers that transferred from Celsius’ interest-bearing services into “Pure Custody” after the firm’s many financial issues became apparent, a period which the filing determines as 90 days before the firm declared bankruptcy on July 13, are only set for a return of capital up to a value of $7,575.

The above condition is set to impact around $11 million of crypto, according to the filing

In any case, I am quite certain Swiss bankers are very happy accepting Alex Mashinsky's deposits.

Celsius ended November with $9 billion of liabilities, including more than $4.3 billion owed to customers, a court filing shows.

1688  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Tank Davis vs. Ryan Garcia betting and discussion (May, 2023) on: February 07, 2023, 03:31:00 AM
In any case, it appears that this superfight might be cancelled because of a disagreement on the rematch clause. I reckon that it would be unfair for Ryan Garcia to not have a rematch clause if he loses the fight. What if King Ry loses only through a decision after a fight that is very close that can also be argued that King Ry won? I am shaking my head on this.

Negotiations for the April 15th Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis vs. Ryan Garcia mega-fight have hit a snag over the rematch clause for the fight. The Tank-Ryan fight is now in jeopardy, with a chance that it won’t happen unless one of the two sides gives in.

It is an easily solvable issue if you’re on Ryan Garcia’s side.  The rematch clause only comes into play if he wins, which some would say is highly improbable.

The clause is a one-sided one that can only be activated by Tank Davis (28-0, 26 KOs); his side management at PBC & network, Showtime, wants to be the lead promoter in the rematch if he loses to Ryan and chooses to activate it.

They’re already the lead promoters for the April 15th fight, but they want to continue to be for the rematch, even though it would only be activated if their fighter lost.

1689  Economy / Gambling / Re: ⚽🎮🎲 Coinplay.com | Brand New Crypto Sportsbook & Casino on: February 07, 2023, 02:38:00 AM

Players will play in those casinos where it is profitable and comfortable for them to play. If it is not profitable to play in a casino and a player loses a lot in it, he will leave the casino and vice versa will prefer to play in the casino where it is more profitable, but less comfortable.

Any casino is created primarily to earn money for yourself. While some players earn money, others lose their money and in order for some players to earn a lot, others have to lose a lot.

That is correct because if the casino was not created to earn revenue for itself, there would be no casino for everyone to enjoy and play hehehe. Why was the casino created? To give money to the players? I shake my head if you imply this. Donating to a charity would be easier hehehehe.

However, you are incorrect in assuming that players that won a lot should come from players who lose a lot. In player versus player games this might be correct. However, in games similar to bacarrat, blackjack and other games, you are playing versus the casino. The casino wins because there is house edge.

@Rikafip. Agreed! It will certainly win for the best foreign film. The odds suggests this hehehe, however, because of the speculation that Hollywood will be on a antiwar agenda, the speech will be more heard if this can win one of the important categories. If the director also wrote the screenplay, it might be voted for best adapted screenplay hehehe. For best cinematography, it is also the favorite already but this category is a technical one. More important are best movie, best director, best screenplay and winners for the actors and actresses.
1691  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Tank Davis vs. Ryan Garcia betting and discussion (May, 2023) on: February 07, 2023, 12:53:28 AM

Predictions are coming thick and fast, and Canelo is the latest to pick his winner. The undisputed super middleweight champ told ES News he’s choosing ‘Tank’ Davis to come out on top of a close contest.

“I think Tank has more experience. He’s got more things in his boxing skills. I think Tank, but it’s gonna be a good fight.”

Source https://boxing-social.com/news/canelo-on-gervonta-davis-vs-ryan-garcia/

He is right with his prediction, Tank Davis has more experience compared to Ryan Garcia, however, I think Garcia is not an easy opponent and he has the reach advantage, so that's the best factor that will give him an edge too if he'll use that effectively.

Boxers have their own prediction too, but it doesn't matter that they'll right most of the time because they only based their prediction on their personal opinion. Well, actually, no one can guarantee a win as even a gambling experts cannot guarantee who will win the fight.

So, do we have another boxers that have sided on Ryan Garcia here?

Or it is just the Canelo hated Ryan Garcia after their split, remember that they are best buddies and then Canelo says that Ryan doesn't have the mentally to become a great boxer, and then the bitter split with Reynoso their trainer.

So no surprise that Canelo will pick Tank. Tim Bradley picks Garcia, because he hated Tank hehehe.

Other articles mention that Ryan Garcia wanted special treatment from Eddy Reynoso and this is what the trainer cannot do because there was not enough time in his schedule. I reckon Frank Sanchez and Andy Ruiz also left Reynoso because the trainer also did not have time for them. There were some training sessions where Reyonso would not go for 2 weeks according to rumors. He only has time for Canelo hehehehehe.

With a new face behind FTX, the new CEO Mr John J Ray did hint on a possible comeback after finding the company is still solvent but the million dollar question is... Will customers comeback to support the business after what happened Huh  I highly doubt it, once beaten twice shy.. Btw the comeback seems targeted towards selling of the company and not really getting into full operation.

It appears there is also this comedian in the cryptospace who is showing his support for the comeback of FTX through his FUD token. This is everyone's favorite cryptospace hustler Justin Sun hehehehe.

Justin the comedian also has listed his Tron FUD token in Huobi and it might also be listed in Poloniex. This is causing me speculate that the next scamcoins that might pump very high on a new bull market might be Tron tokens?

Let's stop spreading FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt) in the crypto world and start trading the FUD Token (FTX Users' Debt). It is a symbol of positivity in the crypto world, it represents a commitment to transparency and trust in the market.

1693  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bye Bye Bear Market :) on: February 06, 2023, 03:07:09 AM

According to Fear & Greed Index the purchasing part outweighs. This index has always shown me the truth if the index is at these levels i will continue to buy and after 80% i will start selling in parts. There is also an increase in the number of hodls.

I think it's too early to say the bear market is over. There is some movement in altcoins but first Bitcoin needs to rise enough. I think that after going from 16k to 40k altcoins will reach the desired values and then I can say bye to the bear market.

Fear and greed index has always been a bad guideline for when we should buy or sell. Similar to RSI if it says it is in greed, this implies that bitcoin is overbought and if it tells us that the index is in fear, bitcoin is really oversold. Look at the date when you shared the index and also look at when bitcoin began dumping. It is on the same date hehe.
1694  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Crypto lender Celsius mulls possible restructuring amid financial woes on: February 06, 2023, 02:10:35 AM
Celsius announced earlier today via Twitter that certain amount of users will be able to withdraw 94% of their assets, while court will decide about the rest 6%. Here is the list of those who should get (part) of their money out https://cases.stretto.com/public/x191/11749/PLEADINGS/1174901312380000000181.pdf. It seems like only those that had up to $7,575 and additional criteria (full list of criteria is in that link) are eligible for withdraw so I hope some of you that have money there meet those. Few people I know that have money stuck there unfortunately don't.

https://twitter.com/CelsiusNetwork/status/1620627975388696576
Additional criteria is to have the money in a "custody account', instead of an "earn account", what means these people who are going to receive their money back had their funds idle on platform, simply using it like a wallet, while the majority of users had their funds in earning mode for interest income.

The amount of money Celsius is going to pay back to custody accounts' owners is insignificant on the bigger picture.

Also, the size of those accounts that can withdraw are those that are only up to $7575. This and how much in total was stored in custody accounts implies that the money Celsius will be paying back is more insiginificant than insignificant. They also only need to pay 94% of this hehehehe.

How much does everyone speculate Celsius will pay out? I reckon less than $10 million. We can assume that being a ponzi scheme, Celsius does not have much of the money anymore. They are in offshore bank accounts, Swiss bank accounts, went to Tornado Cash, swapped in Defi and held in Monero.
1695  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2023-02-01] Ban on Crypto Mining in Residential Areas Proposed in Russia on: February 06, 2023, 01:23:04 AM
~snip~

It may be important for people living in China or Russia, but if we look globally, decentralization in BTC mining has always been one of the issues that arose in discussions. Before, the problem was China and the assumptions that more than 50% of hash power comes from there, and today about 35% allegedly comes from the US, while China allegedly still holds about 20%, which again means that two countries control more than 50%.

Of course, anyone anywhere in the world can try to mine BTC and I have nothing against that, but I don't think we should worry too much about what Russia or any other country will say on the subject. In addition, illegal mining on a larger level will not go unnoticed anywhere, so in the case of some global bans, I would not place my hopes on it being our back-up plan.

I would have disagree again because what Russia and China has said on the subject can become worldwide where everyone cooperates to crackdown on bitcoin mining and have it shutdown permanently. The government can cancel crypto mining licenses, increase taxes, force energy companies to not to serve cryptominers or similar to Russia begin banning it for residents. What would be cryptomining's other option if it is not through illegal mining?
1696  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Tank Davis vs. Ryan Garcia betting and discussion (May, 2023) on: February 05, 2023, 03:01:27 AM
As for the venue, they are talking about 3 possibilities, (a) MGM Grand Garden Arena, (b) T Mobile Arena, and (c) Allegiant Stadium.

So they are all in Las Vegas, the gambling capital so expect a lot of money going to flow not only in this fight, but in the casino's surrounding it. There has hasn't been a boxing event in Allegiant Stadium, the home of Las Vegas Raiders who reported to have a sitting capacity of 70,000.

MGM has 20,000 and T Mobile Arena 17,000 sitting capacity.

So let's wait till the final contract has been signed and if they are looking to sit more boxing fans, Allegiant Stadium might be the good choice here.

This might go to the Allegiant Stadium, I reckon. The organizers and promoters of boxing have always been similar in promoting their projects. They want to get as much people to buy their tickets as possible and make as much money as they can before the next promotional event hehehe.

This is Canelo's prediction for this fight.

1697  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: NFT Speculation on: February 05, 2023, 02:10:50 AM
Could you give a full definition of NFTs?
Naturally i,m not a fan of NFTs and i don't find any meaning to it and how would funds flow into it while it just a common artwork, not just common but can't use them physically as a decoration to our houses and buildings and if at all we have to use it we would likely to print it out. Is this possible to happen?
maybe you're not the only one who isn't a fan and connoisseur of NFT, I'm also the same as you, this is indeed quite confusing with this NFT phenomenon, because in plain view it is intangible, cannot be held, nor can it be touched, but its form can be displayed and is valuable and can be traded.
all of this is due to technological developments and some are trying to make it realistic and acceptable and there are buyers who do have extra money that is no longer being used to make speculations hoping that this possibility will become a renewable phenomenon and be able to make money.
but will this last? of course it will be returned to those who have money as investors, because now many people who are rich and have more money want to find new sensations, including towards NFTs.
Of course, your question will be seen in the future if NFT will indeed be able to continue, because all possibilities can happen.

I disagree with all of your arguments. I know that NFTs are intangible, however, the real value that these NFTs have is cultural value. It is what will bring more adoption to the cryptospace and drive it more towards the people outside of the cryptospace.

It is very much similar to the argument that I created in this thread.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5401045.msg60296103#msg60296103

The value that Pokemon cards and items brought to those children are not because they were tangible and can be held. It because of cultural value, brand value and attention value. People like collecting them.
1698  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 Oscar Awards betting and discussions on: February 04, 2023, 03:56:43 AM
Do not be quite so certain on this not winning the Oscar for the best picture award. This might be this year's Coda hehehe. The best tactic to bet on this is to bet a small amount before BAFTA then bet again if it wins the best picture award in BAFTA or the best adapted screenplay. On 2022, Coda was something similar, it won for best adapted screenplay in BAFTA and won for best picture in the Oscars.

However, if it wins an award for a technical category, it might increase the chance to win on the technical categories in the Oscars.

We still have approx. 40 days to go for the announcement and the odds can change a lot till then. But I don't understand your enthusiasm towards All Quiet on the Western Front. Over time, the odds have worsened for this movie and now most of the sportsbooks are giving ~36.00 for this one. Everything Everywhere All at Once remains as the overwhelming favorite. I would be really surprised if any other movie get declared as the best picture on 13th March, when the announcement will be formally made.

I am only speculating that the war in Ukraine will be Hollywood's leading agenda on the awarding ceremomies on March. They like doing this every year hehehe. How would those antiwar speeches be heard if a movie that shows the terrors of war does not win an important category?

In any case, we will know after the BAFTA winners are announced on February 24. Other important dates for Oscar bettors are Director's Guild Awards on February 18, Actor's Guild Awards on February 25 and Oscars final voting on March 2 where information might be leaked.
1699  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2023-02-01] Ban on Crypto Mining in Residential Areas Proposed in Russia on: February 04, 2023, 02:03:28 AM
To be honest, it has already become quite boring and tiring to read news like this, because no matter how much some people think that a country should regulate in one way or another or not everything that has to do with cryptocurrencies, in that story Russia is something that should not be given too much attention. That country is far from being friendly towards anything that represents decentralization, and Bitcoin as a currency for them is nothing but a form of threat that needs to be fought against.

In addition, the laws can only be a dead letter if the majority do not respect them, and we know that crypto mining is still present in China regardless of the complete ban, as well as that according to the information of some people from the forum, people in Turkey use cryptocurrencies for payment ( public) although the use of the same is prohibited by law.

I disagree. I reckon following the development of the cryptospace in places where strict regulations are imposed and with politicians and who are not friendly towards anything that represents decentralization is where more of our attentiveness should be. This is very much similar to China and the communist party. The communist party has banned mining, however, there are rumors that illegal miners are presently operating. I do not support illegal activity, however, it can be argued that illegal mining is important for bitcoin to survive if governments begin a crackdown against all of the cryptospace.

News update. More on this comedy show.

It appears it is now presently Silvergate that is being under an investigation. The backers of these honorable senators from the American banking system might have ordered this because the partnership of Silvergate with an exchange from the cryptospace threatens their monopoly on moneylaudering and other services they have available for the crime lords hehe.

The Department of Justice’s fraud unit is looking into California-based Silvergate Bank’s hosting of accounts tied to FTX and Alameda Research, Bloomberg reported, citing anonymous sources close to the probe.

After the collapse of FTX in November 2022, Silvergate reported that worried investors pulled $8.1 billion in crypto deposits in an epic bank run that some called worse than those seen during the great depression.

Regulators have also taken aim at Silvergate, with Senators Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), John Kennedy (R-La), and Roger Marshall (R-Kan) saying in a letter to Silvergate CEO Alan Lane that the bank has “further introduced crypto market risk into the traditional banking system” through its dealing with Bankman-Fried and FTX.
