I didn't watch the video, but if he  spent a couple of days writing some custom text, created a logo, and did a bit of customising, it could be a bargain. That doesn't include hosting or domain name considerations.
1722  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Huawei without Google on: February 26, 2020, 05:08:35 PM
I'm not sure why the Anglophone empire is so stressed about China. Maybe Tony Blair's Schwarzman Scholarship isn't working. My only problem with China is that their restaurants can't cook decent English fish and chips. Roll on the time when we can chuck the French out of our fishing grounds, and we can reduce the price of this traditional meal.

The current government and corporate control of the Internet and our computer is so over the top and disruptive, that a cleaner Chinese variant would be like a breath of Spring, and who cares if Huawei has left a backdoor there. The current system seem to have the whole of the back wall removed.
1723  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bird Flu Virus spreading in China!!! on: February 26, 2020, 04:26:13 PM
People should find faster a good solution to these viruses

Mother nature has already created it. It is called a healthy immune system. Unfortunately there is no profit to be made from that, so Big Pharma has had to create vaccinations and other methods to screw it up.

You need to do a lot of reading, and please refrain from polluting the forum whilst you do it. This isn't a site for beggars.
1725  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Huawei without Google on: February 26, 2020, 08:50:55 AM
... And if you edit this so it says "I really care if people are spying on me", then I'll merit you, too.

I really don't care if people are spying on me. I suspect I'm a bit of an exhibitionist. Smiley I am annoyed by the manipulation of search results and the way sites like YouTube push things that don't interest me based on a misunderstanding of some of my posting and searches. One possibly amusing example is happening at the moment. Because I have been discussing and searching about hard drive problems, YouTube has started to suggest videos about erectile dysfunction. I'm not sure Viagra will help maintain hard drives in my computer. Smiley

btw - If a site blocks access until I agree to an EU cookie policy, I just quit the site.
1726  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin The Best Safe-haven In The Wake of Financial Crisis? on: February 26, 2020, 06:43:12 AM
Diversification of assets is the only real safe haven. This includes gold, silver, Bitcoin, tins of sardines, and some sort of mobile home.
1727  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't auto Save your login details on: February 26, 2020, 06:32:51 AM
I use public WiFi in cafes and libraries all the time, but I would never use a public computer there. I bought an HP Netbook, and a Logitec keyboard for my phone, and both of those allow me to use my own equipment. Neither of them cost much money, so I can't see the point in using a public computer. The only time I have done it is to assess a library printer, and you need to scan a library membership card to do that.
1728  Other / Off-topic / Re: A lament over the Flat Earth thread. on: February 25, 2020, 09:21:27 PM
Well thanks for posting the link. I believe that the earth is an oblate spheroid, so I don't think I would have been welcome there. Smiley
1729  Other / Off-topic / Re: A lament over the Flat Earth thread. on: February 25, 2020, 08:15:25 PM
I didn't get round to reading it, as the title put me off. What was it about?
1730  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: US Impeachment on: February 25, 2020, 08:13:42 PM

Trumps economy is the best its ever been.

Yep - the new British Empire that controls Washington is richer than ever, and assets are being stripped away and transferred to the Central bankers. At the same time homeless people are defecating in the main streets of San Francisco. Sounds like a 3rd world dictatorship to me. Smiley
1731  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Huawei without Google on: February 25, 2020, 07:47:10 PM
Wow - so many merits for anti-Chinese sentiments. Smiley

I don't really care if people are spying on me. What does annoy me is that the big players are constantly messing with my settings, and installing rubbish apps that I don't want, and won't use. I don't want things like Alexa, Cortana, Facebook, Twotter (sic) and all the other trivial nonsense that goes on at the moment. I don't want crappy music superimposed on my surfing either.

It also annoys me when my searches are modified to push products just after I have bought something. Computers used to be tools, but now they are self-driving devices, and we are just passengers in our journeys on the net.
1732  Other / Meta / Re: Do you find Symbol Usage in Titles annoying? on: February 25, 2020, 09:26:06 AM
I hate them, and I usually ignore any threads with all caps titles or  symbols in the title. Just as a generalisation, it;s a great indicator of a crap or spam thread.
1733  Other / Off-topic / Re: What do know about investments ? on: February 22, 2020, 10:20:04 AM
Don't forget that your time may be your most important investment.
1734  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie members syndicate and rights on: February 22, 2020, 10:13:37 AM
It's the non-crypto easy money newbies that are the problem, and hopefully they are an endangered species here. I agree that we should be encouraging the new questers for information about Bitcoin and crypto, and that we need to protect and encourage them.
1735  Other / Serious discussion / Huawei without Google on: February 22, 2020, 10:07:26 AM
I really have a lot of problems trying to disable Google apps and Microsoft stuff. The new Google free phones from Huawei have a massive appeal for me, but it doesn't look as if we can get them in the UK for a reasonable price.

Do any of you guys want to be Google free on your phones?
1736  Other / Meta / Re: How to Quote a Post in Bitcointalk Posts. on: February 20, 2020, 05:29:28 PM
The board needs to add a little box with "quote" in it. That would make it easier for spammers to fill their posts with nested quotes. It could be placed next to the merit box, that way the poster could see it. Smiley

Well assuming that he has posted something that is meritworthy.
1737  Other / Off-topic / Re: Coronavirus wistle blower on: February 20, 2020, 10:56:44 AM
The Corona Virus has been around since 1960, and this one is less virulent, but is harder to counter with pharmaceuticals as it morphs via RNA and not DNA. The only counter is healthy living, and the development of herd immunity. Unfortunately there is no money in that, so Pharma keeps pushing useless products to block the development of immunity. They won't stop until they have completed their replacement of the dead fiat currencies, and they have destroyed a lot of people and businesses. Most of the deaths are from secondary infections resulting from reduced immune systems.
1738  Other / Meta / Re: Who wants to start a newbie project on the beginners' board with me? on: February 20, 2020, 06:41:46 AM
Sometimes I feel that I'm micturating into the wind with these projects. We ought to be encouraging newcomers to Bitcoin and Crypto, but sometimes it seems a battle, especially on boards like the mining ones. I got stroppy yesterday, and gave 50 merits to this newbie - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5226442.msg53872852#msg53872852 , and I hope that bad moderation won't discourage him from being a productive member of Bitcoin Talk.

Thanks to the guys who are expressing a renewed interest in the Fit to Talk project, and I will try to work out a way to restore registrations, without having to spend hours getting rid of spam and spammers.
1739  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is the Corona Virus A Bioweapon? on: February 18, 2020, 06:43:03 PM
The reason Asian males are more susceptible than females is that few Asian females smoke. It is smoking that affects the receptors, and not
 the sex of the infected.
1740  Other / Meta / Re: Gangs of BitcoinTalk :) on: February 18, 2020, 06:12:06 PM
I don't seem to be in any gangs. I was going to say that if there is a gang bang, please can I join in, but I'm not sure that we have any girls here any more.

Opps, I can't say girls any more. The last girls I referred to as a girl, said I had to refer to females as binaries. I really don't understand this woke stuff.
