This is pretty big news guys;

CEX (computer exchange) are now accepting bitcoin. They are a pretty big deal here in the UK.

http://blog.webuy.com/

Not only that though but you can also GET bitcoin instead of cash for your old phones games etc. Most merchant adoption we see has a depressive action on the market but with this if they pay out more in Bitcoin than they get in they will actually have to buy BTC! Even if they dont they wont be selling all the BTC they get like other places. Theoretically the majority of the business could be done in BTC.

EDIT: on top of that they are also trialing a store in Scotland as a pound free store and it will have Scotlands first bitcoin atm.
1742  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-04-17] Coinbuzz: Second hand store CeX to payout in bitcoin on: May 13, 2014, 09:57:07 AM
I've only just found out that they pay out in BTC as I was selling something. This is pretty big as they have lots of stores here.

This is also an example of how not all merchant adoption is about converting BTC==>FIAT.
1743  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ebay - the first tech giant to accept Bitcoin? on: May 13, 2014, 09:52:42 AM
If you want to sell stuff to get bitcoins then do it with webuy.com! They pay out in bitcoin Smiley

Is it worldwide?

I think its just UK now but their website says they have stores all over the world so we should all email them and demand they take bitcoin everywhere!

Thats fine by me as Im in the UK  Wink

EDIT: woah hang on, thats CEX there huge in this country, when did they start paying out in BTC?

Guys look what I said above, the daemons crash a lot and a lot of it is being done manually. TheKoziTwo is offline at the moment so I imagine he is sleeping or busy with something. He will rectify anything as soon as he is here.

Please be patient its a day old exchange and until there are enough funds in the hot wallets it has to all be manual. It clearly states this in the FAQ on the site.

(Almost) 4k coins volume in last 24h. On Stamp. On a Tuesday.
Are we sliding into oblivion?

Its not suprising in my eyes that there is a massive lack of volume. We've been in a downtrend for so long now people generally have taken their position and are just waiting for the direction. These are the sorts of times when we can have those $100 days.
1746  Other / Off-topic / Re: Manchester City - Rightful Champions of the English Premier League on: May 13, 2014, 09:33:35 AM
City aren't the first club in the world to be carried by money  Roll Eyes I mean its not like Real spent £180mm on two players...

They deserved it this year, Liverpool flopped it. Pellegrini  turned it around for them this season and gave players like Dzeko their confidence back. Yaya is a beast and Silva ran things from midfield.
1747  Other / Off-topic / Re: Oscar Pistorius case on: May 13, 2014, 09:29:12 AM
With that don't you think that will allow him to get a nice chilled place to spend whatever time he serves and then be re-assesed jsut before his times up?

How do you work that out? They're not saying hes crazy nor is that his defense.

No, but a danger to society and anxiety problems can often get you out of the worst places to spend time.
1748  Economy / Speculation / Re: June Prediction? Analysis/Speculation share your madness either way! on: May 13, 2014, 09:28:16 AM
I'd be happy to be  consistently over $600 in June with the way things are going tbh.
1749  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hey Bears, what would turn you Bull? on: May 13, 2014, 09:27:16 AM
1W MACD crossing will definitely do..

This is a sure signal for the uber bears and people who managed to sell near the very top in november. Bears from ~$600 could end up buying back with a loss if they wait for this signal.

Lake BTC, how do you stand in regards to the Chinese regulations then?
1754  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bounty for open source ByteCoin/Monero pool on: May 13, 2014, 09:08:47 AM
Eligius does it too right? They don't guarantee it 100% of the time but most payments are made that way.

EDIT: To clarify how this works, the miners who contribute to mining a block don't necessarily get paid from that block, their shares get credited like any other pool and upon reaching a minimum payment threshold their eventual payments are made using some future block's coinbase. That avoids the issues p2pool has with dust payouts vs. minimum share value.

Right - that works for big pools that find blocks often. If you aren't a huge pool then payment variance (or just payment waiting period) would not make miners happy :p

Latest code should be working very well with vardiff and share acceptance.

Payment processing and IP banning to mitigate low-diff share attacks is under development. Right now I'm stuck on getting address validation. Looks like it should be: slice off 4 byte checksum -> decode rest as varint -> keccak (w/ 64 byte output ??) -> compare result to checksum.
do you have instructions on how to use your pool anywhere?

The usage instructions are on git hub.

Boring day, but right now is a bit exciting. It seems that someone is trying their best to encourage a breakout. Here is Kraken with an unusual bid wall:

...and there was just a large-ish buy at Bitstamp. But the resistance is strong, so I think we will need some totally amazing news for a breakout to happen.

Whats the volume like at kraken? Is it not big enough to play that spread ?
1756  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 12, 2014, 06:15:01 PM
In this case no. I would say kraken is a very fine exchange for small traders

Thank you,

In fact, I didn't know ( and I'm not the only one I think because it's not explained were I '' learned" BTC) that I could trade only with the volume available on the website I choosed.

I thought the prices were the same for every one , like for wall street stocks, and that only fees, website bank etc were different.

In general the prices are pretty similar but thats due to arbitrage more than anything else.

This must be the Bitpay news. Guess some noob social network employee got over-excited.

I thought we established up thread that they had already tweeted this ?
