It is a much more lucrative and "safe" vehicle for scams than the classical ones -- stolen credit cards, counterfeit cash, phony viagra, nigerian heirlooms, penny stocks, ponzi funds, ...

More completely false comments.

I noticed you chose not to reply to one of my replies to you about a week ago where I explained in detail why big serious money criminals would never go near BTC I wonder why you chose to ignore it? That could have saved you from this gaff.

One for you anyway -  http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/700million-tax-fraud-brit-held-3585565

Bigger fraud than Gox there mate and this guy was travelling the world living the life.

haha the devs team don't know how to make a GUI Huh it's a Joke?

Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Who the hell will buy this coin?

You can dump or pump ... when i see this team of devs are not able to make a gui.. i will not buy that shit.

Learn to code, firstly.

Firstly there are plenty of GUI's in the pipeline

You can follow Bitkoot's progress on a .NET GUI wrapper here (Windows only):
https://github.com/BitKoot/CryptoNoteWallet

You can follow jwinterm's progress on a kivy GUI wrapper here (Windows, and probably Linux as well):
https://github.com/jwinterm/cryptonoteRPCwalletGUI

You can follow Neozaru's progress on a cross-platform Qt GUI wallet here:
https://github.com/Neozaru/bitmonero-qt

Secondly a GUI is not necessary in the slightest to the actual coin, working in command linke is simple to say the least. I understand the asking for a GUI wallet but unfortunately its not a copy paste coins with a QT to copy paste.

Perhaps your time would be better spent coding a GUI wallet yourself? I believe the bounty hasn't been taken yet.

From bitstamp FB:

Quote
Bitstamp BTC Proof of Reserves, May 2014
Dear Bitstamp clients,
To reassure clients, Bitstamp regularly performs a procedure to prove its BTC reserves.
On May 24th, 2014, Mike Hearn of Vinumeris GmbH, bitcoin core developer and prominent member of bitcoin community observed Bitstamps proof of reserves procedure. Reserves were proven by conducting a Bitcoin send-to-self transfer.
Details of the procedure are provided in the PDF linked here:
https://www.bitstamp.net/s/documents/Bitstamp_proof_of_reserves_statement.pdf
In summary, Bitstamp held 183,497 BTC its cold wallet fully covering both the clients funds held at Bitstamp and the clients funds on the Ripple network.
Additionally, a financial statement audit is in progress.
Best regards,
Bitstamp team

Cool  Smiley

Kinda cool.

I don't have any doubts about their solvency, I want some answers and clarification of their over zealous KYC/AML procedure  Sad

i'm not quoting fonzie but he's actually right about bitfinex

But if some people lost a lot on margin calls, mother people gained just as much right? That's how the market works, someone gains, someone loses.

So the people who lent money to margin traders would have made a killing right? And they could potentially invest (part of) that money into bitcoin, right?

Or do I miss something?

I think you missed the bit where all Teppino was saying is that Fonzie is right in that Bitfinex was down at the time. Not to all his other perma-bear/ uber-troll posts.

I doubt many people would have lost a lot on margin calls as when the site went down trading stopped, its not like you couldn't close a position while the market still moved. So the market was in exactly the same position when it opened as when it closed so no calls happened at a time you couldn't have closed them.

If any of the posts are spam he should not pay for them. That is it. It doesn't mean you don't post at all other than constructive. At least I don't see this way.
Also I feel suffice to promote my business in an announcement thread. That's none of your business.

Yeah and I'm sure you've been messaging him at the end of the month to let him know how many of your posts aren't constructive  Roll Eyes. Follow the OP and you get paid. Simple

If you have a paid sig and you want to bump threads daily then expect for the advertiser to not be too happy. I'm sure you wouldn't.
1407  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: May 27, 2014, 12:48:35 PM
..If BTC is doing its yearly wave, I can capture maybe 30% of the downtrend with 30% of my position, resulting in a 13% gain in my holdings...

Why so conservative in your estimations? The previous bubbles have had at least 3 times retracement from the top. Catching at least 50 percent wouldnt be that much of a problem?

A times three retractment from start of bubble to the top would put the price in negative figures, no ?
1408  Economy / Services / Re: ★★★ HIGHEST SIGNATURE PAYMENT ON THE BOARD - UPDATED - RitzGrandCasino.com ★★★ on: May 27, 2014, 12:44:45 PM
well if this is not spamming our campaign , then what is?
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=472219.100
It is daily bump.I think we are allowed to bump our thread once every 24 hours to keep it at top. That is what it is.
It isn't a daily bump (that is against the rules anyway) . Its a total abuse of our program. So good luck in the future. You have been removed from the program.
What I can't promote my business at this forum? Its your responsibility to set aside BUMP posts and not pay for them as you check posts before payment. I have over 430 posts for the month and over 80% may be according to your standards.

You can promote your business in the forum but refer to my post above. When joining a sig campaign you need to be aware of what sort of posting your going to be doing. It says in the OP no bumping so I can understand why Ritz would see this as spamming. Personally I think you should be paid for your legit posts up until now, perhaps you could work that out with Ritz?

As an aside seems strange to not put your own business in your sig if your looking to promote your business.

Isn't it fishy that the moment the market approaches 600... BitFinex conveniently experience a database failure, causing panic and margin traders to close their position?

The house always wins.

Sorry i ahve to agree ..there was 2 shakings of the tree and finally after it had been thinned out the big dump

Clear out all margined longs ...does not go below 550 so as to not scare everbody too much & now back to the same ~570 and climbing

bitfinex
500plus is an etf that trade btc ltc

I gotta say Specialists aka Market makers aka insider traders aka dodgy exchanges

Definately feels like a rigged carny game to me

P.S I am old school & own coins so as not get caught in these lovely traps Wink

The theory is all well and good until you actually look at some data and realise that if anything more longs were opened rather than clear out all the margin longs.

1412  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 27, 2014, 10:35:55 AM
Havent seen this one posted in a while

Feels good to be able to pull that one out again. For the last few months the bitcoins have only been worth what they were six months ago Wink
1413  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 27, 2014, 10:06:52 AM
Just 1k BTC and we're back at 580.

Fenix is fully up and operational again and would you look at that, we're moving up again. IF we do meander our way upwards again it would have been an almost perfect 78% retraction .
1414  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: May 27, 2014, 10:04:56 AM
up again.....

Site still isn't actually working though.

I just got a notification email to say that my swap offer was taken, no sign of that having happened if I look at the site.

That, and the lack of any visible trades (whether that's because there aren't any or because the API isn't reporting them).

Being able to see a static page isn't really any more useful than when it was down... slightly more reassuring, but no more useful.

Working for me now and the APi seems to be spitting trades out again.
1415  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 27, 2014, 09:51:57 AM
Agree but lets not pretend that cryptonote doesn't have some drawbacks as well.

Im very interested in hearing proposals to deal with blockchain bloat for instance?

I've heard estimates that say Monero will have a chain between 1 - 5 times the size of a corresponding conventional blockchain.

A 5 times cost for anonymity is well worth it in my opinion. Of course any advancements that improve that are welcome.

Also Evan's latest idea is to route transactions through 10 masternodes to overcome the issue of bad nodes.

If this is the case, then the bloat could be similar to Monero.

Remember you can send a Monero transaction with the minimum inputs and outputs and it'll be similar in size to a conventional transaction.

https://forum.cryptonote.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=70#p579

Quote
Roughly speaking (very roughly!), if you intentionally make you Cryptonote transaction the same as in Bitcoin (2-3 inputs and outputs and no ambiguity) it's size and verification time will be very close to Bitcoin's parameters.

I definately don't care what Evan feels the solution is, masternodes are a terrible idea when the majority of them are hosted on Amazon Web Services lol Wink Great for a pump though, tell people they need 1000 dark and they're set for life, thats not a pump at all !

Back to monero, thanks for those estimates, I admit I haven't read up properly on how much bigger the chain could be it was just a thought after syncing an oldish wallet and it taking a few hours when Im sure most the tranfic on the network are coinbase coins still.

In physical terms storage isn't a problem and anyone who says it is are living under a rock its more syncing issues that concern me along with bandwith considerations for people not on even broadband for example.

Checkpoints are all well and good meaning you don't need the whole chain but we need to make sure its implemented properly. We already tried to implement it once and went back if I remember correctly.

Cheers.

So Finex was down due to a database crash not even a DDOS, lolz.

No hack btw.
1417  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 27, 2014, 09:40:27 AM
Seems People are done panicking about finex. Back to the thing we do best.

10:1 leverage long ??
1418  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 27, 2014, 09:37:27 AM
Wtf Bitfinex??? This is bad...

Its bad that a site went down? Cmon guys how many times has Stamp, Gox, BTC-e gone down??

Well usualy we go down more when somethhing like this happen... You need to know they have margin tradind.
Don't get me wrong I'm not short, but you need to be realist.

I am a realist, a site went down on the internet now why does that suddenly make me want to sell my BTC?

Remember April 2013. Gox --- DDOS?

Again, 18 000 000 $ in open long positions on Bitfinex. Imagine what would happen if only 50% would hit the market. Tongue

When gox controleld the vast majority of the volume and everyone was looking to them as market leader.

Also the DDOS back then were several in a few days and for long periods of time.

I like your FUD Fonz but this time you sounded desperate Wink

Also not to egg you on but I think the API is still down Wink
