1061  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - Secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency - Now on Hitbtc.com on: July 11, 2014, 01:41:52 PM
Thus far we have received well under 1 BTC in donations, a trivial amount. That means that all of our time and energy and effort is completely self-funded.

I think Risto should delve into his huge BTC fortune - seeing as he was one of the first Hero Members to publically back Monero, i find it worrying that he has not made a donation.

First of all singling one person out is completely unfair just because they are a public figure and you know their general fortune means nothing, everyone should donate a little something to the devs, I have done so now that I know funds are required but I expect to see more work in general for it if funds are being given.

Its not worrying really, the last couple of days has been the first time I personally have seen the dev team saying that donations/dev funds are a barrier to getting stuff done in a timely manner so its not surprising that generally people haven't donated. Dont ask you dont get and all that. Lets not forget that we raised over 11btc to get on mintpal so topping up the dev fund should be an easy group effort. I would also advise that donations be made in BTC.

^Yes. Currently the exchanges generate a Payment ID to distinguish your deposit from someone else deposit and all the funds from all the users are deposited to a single stealth address.

Edit: It's in the FAQ: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=686086.0
Ok thanks.

The pending deposit already appeared on poloniex... It took almost 2hrs to appear there and it's still pending...
Seems like they require 18 confirmations..
How do I check how many confirmations it already has from http://monerochain.info/?

There is 1 block a minute so theoretically 18 mins, as I said up thread it has alot to do with inside Polo not the XMR protocol.

This could perhaps explain his 'illness' as well as his foundation status. Care to explain these accusations upDown?

Could anyone tell me how to check my monero address on the blockchain explorer?
I sent 1xmr to poloniex, how do I check it? I checked the xmr address at minergate.com, it says hash not found.
How long does it take to transfer xmr?

Monero addresses dont work the same way as Bitcoin, you cant search by address using those block explorers for this reason.

Shouldnt take more than 20 mins depending on the confirmation count on their end.
1065  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [XMR] (Unofficial) Community Monero FAQ thread on: July 11, 2014, 10:30:39 AM
Q: When trying to send coins I get an error stating that transaction is too large.

A: This is due to many small inputs (dust) to the address such as from mining to it. The solution is to split up the transaction and send smaller amounts. This problem has mainly been mitigated by the pools updating their software to not payout dust amounts.

Q:Anything to do with pools ; Connectivity, payouts etc.

A:Contact the pool dev via their support methods, the Monero team have nothing to do with the operation of pools so any questions about pools are a waste of time directing at them. Many pool operators can be found on the IRC channels if immediate help is required.
1066  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - Secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency - Now on Hitbtc.com on: July 11, 2014, 09:43:48 AM

Monero could, but their devs are too sluggish, and the same time do not accept neither help nor critics:
- 32 bit obsolete Windows binaries are still sticky at 1st page this thread
- No newbie's FAQ is ever made (who can support price if not newbies?!)
- Official site has still html markup errors.
- There is no special man to answer newbies questions here officially from face of Monero team.
- Even missives come with 1-2 day delay. This delay is more important than it appears, because time regularity of Monero missives is the ONLY thing Monero devs promise us.

Meanwhile there are some 40 days till LTC/2 block reward happens!!!

This is the ultimate time window, when market decides Monero to live & replace LTC or to die & forget.

32 bit binaries are not obsolete.

Could you please write down FAQ's I will answer them/get answers for them and then send to someone who can add them to the correct places.

This goes for you and everyone else Who has the ability to create a nice website like the other cn/alt coins? Im sure someone round here has templates that would be simple to add the desired information to. This is an open source project so anyone and everyone can contribute. Lets get this ball rolling.

There doesn't need to be a "special man" newbie questions get answered perfectly fine in the thread by a range of users, the devs are extremely busy it stands to reason that they cant sit on BCT all day.

morning bitcoiners. Stay strong!

Staying strong over here, only thing is the more jittery amongst us may not but they will learn.

lol i hope you are right.  Grin

anyway i really dont think it will stay long under 0.003, but time will tell (and mostly im wrong Cheesy). Has somone an opinion on the avergage minting price right now when using cloud service? Is there a need for "insider" software or is it possible to mine profitable with the software that is already out without modifying it (just configure)?

i am unsure if i should mine or buy, since i want to hold them anyway..but maybe i can get them cheaper with mining?
already hold some for sure, but want more.

At this point in time Im almost certain that buying is the most economical solution, while mining is almost certainly at a loss currently unless you have a private miner and already roi'd hardware.

Honestly I find it hard to believe that was a real bet. Is there any proof anywhere?

What like a screenshot  Roll Eyes

I dont see why its so hard to believe that someone, somewhere in the world stuck $20 on 7-1.

For all you know they could have had $100 to bet and thought that Germany were likely to win by more than 5 goals (I bet they would win by more than 4 so its not hard to believe). Then to hedge their bet a bit they had $20 on 5-0, $20 on 6-0, $20 on 6-1, $20 7-0, $20 7-1 this is perfectly plausible.

Why don't they sell these car at discount?

Because why would you buy this years model if you can get the previous model new for a decent discount?

Another reasons is laws are always changing, particularly in Europe and particularly in regards to emissions, it stands to reason that often the previous model doesn't meet the requirements to be registered.

The solution is just not to produce cars they can't sell in the first place rather than producing loads and not being able to sell them all.

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-05-16/where-worlds-unsold-cars-go-die

Snopes has this as "false" but it seems like a rather weak and hand-waving debunk to me.

I've seen the article before and while it may be exaggerated I have seen first hand scenes like this. I visited the Rover Plant in Longbridge, Birmingham and there were always piles and piles of cars. As snopes suggests though this was a few years ago and the general automobile market has likely changed.

I have a friend who also works at the end of the line of a car manufacturing plant fixing the problems that vehicles that don't pass inspection have. He leads me to believe that sometimes if the defects the cars are manufactured with are numerous or serious enough its deemed un economical to repair and they end up in the same sort of place.

Are you in the market for a new used car or a new car? You might be stuck if your looking for the later.

Used. New cars are poor value.

Ai, someones gotta buy em though so the smarter ones amongst us have something to buy.

Although I do have to say there are some really good deals with new cars in the UK at the moment with 100,000 mile warranties, free insurance (Which for a young driver can save another £1500) and 5 year 0% finance deals, still not enough to interest me but its slightly more understandable than it was a few years ago.

The ISIS association was big news apparently.

The ISIS thing is a big thing in the MSM, there is something about it even in the smallest newspapers today.

Dont worry ISIS may not bother with bitcoin - as they now have their own ISIS coin listed on mintpal.

I dont see why ISIS is big news for the same reason as I always end up explaining when we get the money laundering, international drug dealer arguments.

Just look at the numbers in terms of liquidity, market cap, volatility and volume. What drug dealer, money launder or terrorist can operate at any significant figures in the BTC market? The head of ISIS is worth $1.2 billion even if he wanted to deal with $50mm in Bitcoin, where in the world can he buy that much at a spot price? Where can he then transact that and convert it back to $ in a timely manner and without loosing money ? If they want to use BTC as a store of value I dont mind that at all Smiley but for general terrorist transactions the market is nowhere near big enough.

Link to Enrollment post
In Docs Enrollment what is that ??

What i must put there

You only have to provide current post count and a link to your BCT profile for enrollment.

That part is the claiming payment form, just leave it blank and press submit.

What i must put when i want claiming payment on 17th

What is the column of link to enrollment post

That was for last month when we had enrollment posts, Id imagine this month that option will be removed as people wont have enrollment posts due to the new signing up methods.

i have been out of monero mining for a while due to a move.
1. in the op there is no multiminer link. does this still work.
2. is multi miner still the same as lucas zone11 miner
3. why is wolf miner linked is it much better than lucas miner (if it is multiminer)
4. any solo miners left? not cloud miners mind you. just a guy or gal with a computer random town usa.
5. with 100/s what is the time frame a solo miner can expect to find a block now using simpleminer
6. with CN now producing a reference code coin. Does this pose a threat to monero. not their reference code coin but others launching with what is now fairly known technology and therefore launched to a broader base than those of us who found bitmonero in its early days.

thanks.

1-3) Wolfs miner is considered the fastest atm, it is an improved fork of Lucas' miner.
4-5) people are still still solomining but with considerably more than 100 h/s. If thats all you have you would be better on a pool but don't expect to make too much.
6) Its debateable but the essence is that their reference coin is just that, an implementation allowing any noob to fill in the variables and have their own CN coin. However, if a dev does not have the knowledge to fork without a holding hand method do you really expect them to be able to maintain a coin and also make it better than XMR ? I doubt it, the reference code imo is the CN team shooting themselves in the foot by giving people the tools to create lots of crappy implementations of their technology.

htank you for reponse.
for education perposes then, perhapse if I could be educated regarding how long to find a block given 100 h/s. I use this number as reference only. I know lots of people are solo mining, but using cloud mining.

again, thanks.

Its hard to say but at a guess;

At the current difficulty(which could go up or down) 100h/s gets around .2 XMR a day, current block reward is around 15.8 so 15.8/.2 = ~79 days.

Interesting. I'm in the market for a new car and have the cash to do so. Will have to take a look.

Though  have never heard of this company at all in any manner.
